Problem when making payments

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Problem during payment process
Complaint: My bill for my CapitolOne Quicksilver rewards card was due on XX/XX/19. This was the first bill due date from the time I had gotten the card. The day that I opened the card in mid XXXX, I set up an online auto payment through the Capitol One credit card app. This auto payment was to pay the balance in full on the due date, XX/XX/19. On XX/XX/19 I checked my Capitol One app and the pending auto payment was only about 60 % of my balance. It would not let me cancel this already pending payment so I had to create another payment to pay my balance in full in order to avoid interest fees. I immediately called Capitol One where the gentleman told me both payments now had to process through my bank and sit there for five days before he could start a refund. Feeling that I had no other option, I complied and he assured me I would be called back a week later on XX/XX/19 to start the refund process. So now I had to transfer more money to that account to cover the 160 % payment of my balance that " had '' to go through and sit in my bank for five days. On XX/XX/19 I never got a call back from Capitol One about my refund. I called them that date and the lady told me she could not get a hold of their refund department for me and I would have to try again at a different date. I tried the next day, XX/XX/19 and got through to the refund department finally, though their " system was down '' and I had to call yet again. Finally on XX/XX/19 I called again for the now fourth time in 8 days only to not be able to get transferred to the refund department again. The lady on the phone now mentioned she could start a " manual refund '', something I had never been told by any of the precious representatives I had worked with. She said she could start the manual refund and it would be an additional 2 to 3 weeks before the overpayment was refunded to my account. Adding that on to the 8 days I have already waited and Capitol One has held my account overpayment for a total of a month now before I will be able to see it again. I spoke with a supervisor and she told me the same thing about the timeline of a month for the overpayment that stemmed from a malfunction in their system with the auto payment in the first place. The lady only apologized but also told me that they could have started the refund earlier than the timeline I was given by the first gentleman on XX/XX/19 and that I was given wrong information. She refused to help me in any other way other than starting that manual refund. She did not try to compensate me in any way for the lost time and money that I have to endure for a months time. She did not understand the concept of the time value of money and how my money that they had no right to take on XX/XX/19 will be worth less at the end of XXXX. In summary, I paid 160 % of my balance on the due date because of a flawed system, was told different information by each representative I spoke with, spent over 4 hours of call time with representatives explaining my story over and over again and will still not see my money until a month after they took it from my account. This is a crooked business practice where I had to spend this much time and effort to recover money from a company who wrongfully took it in the first place. They were clearly trying to get me to have to pay their interest payments based off of a partial balance payment from the beginning. I will be cancelling their card immediately after my refund reaches me.

Problem accessing account
Complaint: I received an email notification from Capital One of an email update I never made because my access to the account is STILL blocked from my use. I file a complaint this afternoon with this Bureau, CFPB and, approximately 2 hours later, I receive this notification which is harassment as I have absolutely no access or have accessed the account since before XX/XX/XXXX, when I discovered Capital One and one or more operatives conspired to block my access to the account. RICO. Duly noted on the record, and for the record, retaliation, intimidation, electronic stalking, both civilian and federal, under XXXX of law, authority and title violations to add to the potential forthcoming document claim for the court of record it appears.

Debt collection: Credit card debt

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: XXXX XXXX is a debt buyer who is misreporting to at least XXXX, XXXX and XXXX, a debt they bought from Capital One Bank, specifically my old MasterCard # XXXX. Its a very old account of mine that I last made a payment on or about XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX lists the debt on the credit reporting agencies as of the date they bought it from Capital One, which was aroundXX/XX/XXXX. Although I have had numerous phone calls and letters exchanged with XXXX, they refuse to report this debt accurately to the credit reporting bureaus. It should be removed from the credit reporting bureaus as the debt is older than 7 years. Can CFPB help me?

Incorrect information on your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Account information incorrect
Complaint: I have disputed the information through the credit bureaus and the company Capital One has stated the information is correct although it is not. The account has been sent to another company and is no longer with Capital One. The credit card account is showing that an amount of {$480.00} is owed to Capital One. When I contacted them to resolve the matter they informed me that they no longer have the account. If the account is no longer with them and has been bought by another company then it is only right that they report the balance is XXXX with them which they are not. I would like this issue to be resolved immediately because I am in the process of purchasing a house and this is a blemish on my credit file that can be easily resolved with reporting correctly. Due to this error I would like to have this information removed from all three credit bureaus. The company 's investigation proved not to resolve the issue at hand.

Problem when making payments

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Problem during payment process
Complaint: To my knowledge, I was never late on my Capital One credit card with account number XXXX. But I realized that I was reported as being 30 days past due in XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX and as being 60 days past due in XX/XX/XXXX which is not true. I have had this credit card since XX/XX/XXXX with no late payments and not sure why all of a sudden I was reported late. To my knowledge I have always have 100 % positive payment history and have not only tried to pay way before my due date, but also have tried to pay more than the minimum amount. Like even now my balance is low because I make sure to maintain my credit properly. But you can see that XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX are all reporting a different balance which goes to show that something isn't right.

Fees or interest

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Charged too much interest
Complaint: I opened up credit card accounts with Capital One, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, And XXXX XXXX. I only wanted a minimum amount of credit of XXXX for each card. I got from Capital One I believe was XXXX, and somehow I got an invitation from XXXX XXXX to open a line of Credit ( I never asked for ) ... they too charged me XXXX. XXXX XXXX forced me to take XXXX, I only wanted XXXX, and no more than XXXX. They opened my account at XXXX. When I lost my employment and was unable to make my monthly installments on time they kept tacking on interest rates that were too high for me to keep up, so I closed All of my accounts. Since my accounts are closed, are they still able to charge high interest to the accounts? I've asked for payment arrangements, and extensions to be able to pay my debts, however ; I wasn't able to keep up with payments, so they started to harass me with unwanted phone calls.
