They used to be able to send an email as verification they say that they do not do that any more.

Complaint: Contacted via email about a debt for two motorcycles I purchased. One was already repossessed, and the other one was not. Threatened many times about being sued, wages garnished, and possible arrest by police. Never received anything via mail, only calls and emails made/sent to myself as well as my mother. They said the same threatening things to her about what could happen to me, if the debt wasnt payed immediately, and continued to badger her without any permission from me to talk to her about my debt..They have offered a settlement, but they wouldnt provide a physical address of their business until my mother told them we wouldnt send any money without knowing where theyre located. They had originally asked for payment over the phone, and then gave a XXXX XXXX where to send it. When I searched for information on the internet I found on the XXXX that this agency name and address was closed, and many of their tactics where reported over and over in complaints to the XXXX. I did ask them about finding on the XXXX site where it said their business closed, and they told me businesses change all the time ... The name the collections agency gave me was XXXX XXXX XXXX, also used the name XXXX. The address they finally gave me after repeated attempts to get it from them is, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX with a zip code of XXXX. Im not sure where to go at this point, all the phone numbers I found associated with them say they are not in service. Even the ones on the website ( XXXX ) they gave me didnt connect me to anyone. I was told I needed to send the money two day express with no signature required, and that I would receive a clean title to the motorcycle, the one that wasnt repossessed, 1-2 weeks after they relieved the money. I did contact the original company I purchased the motorcycle from, but they were unable to give me any verifiable information about the debt. I called two different numbers. One of them I found on line, but the Yamaha representative couldnt tell me anything about the debt. Also called a Yamaha phone number given to me by XXXX, which told me the debt was bought out by XXXX XXXX. Ive never received anything from XXXX XXXX about this debt. XXXX XXXX XXXX said XXXX XXXX bought the debt, and XXXX XXXX is the third party used to collect the debt .... Ive been told so many things by XXXX XXXX XXXX, and many of them have been contradicted from one phone conversation to another, and from what is told to me vs what is told to my mother. Also, the information Ive found online doesnt substantiate the information XXXX has given me ... I have no idea where to turn at this point, or whom to believe. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I explained my situation and they just tell me dispute. I just need the late payments that were not my fault ( I understand they were not Kohl 's fault either ) taken of my credit report. I am trying to buy a house and had identity theft and when I tried to make a payment my bank had a security freeze on my bank account I make payments with I called you guys and you all promised to remove from my credit report and now my lender pulled my credit and said that is the only thing hurting my credit. Complaint: Hello, I am trying to improve my credit score, and wanted to pay off my credit card balance. I attempted to get my debt reduced in exchange for paying it off in full. We came to an agreement about an amount. Several times during the phone call I said I was not comfortable accepting terms unless I received the offer in writing. Over the phone, they said they would report my account as settled rather than paid in full. After I got off the phone, I looked up settlements and saw that it would hurt my credit for 7 years, and I would be penalized on taxes, even though the forgiven debt was only about 25 % of what I owe. I still paid a large portion of what I owed ( over 50 % ), but found my account was restricted. I called and said I did not want a settlement, but want to pay it in full. That is what I was asking for in the first place. Yes, I wanted fees waived, but I want it to show paid in full on my credit report. Capital One is now saying too bad. Whether, I pay the full balance or not, they will report it as settled. This hardly seems right or legal. According to Fair Credit Act, I believe it is illegal for them to knowingly report false information. I want to pay the balance and I want them to remove reports of late payments and report the card as paid in full. That is all I want to do. I called several times. I spoke to a manager more than once, and they still claim there is nothing I can do. I am locked into the arrangement and that's it. I was pressured into taking the deal before researching or consulting with a financial advisor. I said I wanted to see it in writing and talk to someone first, and they said it would not still be on the table. This is not right. I had no idea how bad this would be for my credit. Why would I pay all this money just to have a bad credit score?! Especially when most of the debt was not forgiven ... Please help.
