Complaint: Capital One restricted my credit card account -- without warning -- due to inactivity. They will close it in 4 months ' time. The card had a large credit limit, with XXXX balance due, and I would have used the card to prevent having the account closed. This will be a negative hit on my credit score, which I have worked to maintain at the highest level.
I had the card for over a decade. I stopped using it regularly because other cards became available with much better travel and rewards incentives. Perhaps Capital One should have considered alternatives to sustain my use of their product.
I understand that Capital One wasn't making money off my account. Still, customers should have an opportunity to take steps to protect themselves. Capital One agreed to a credit limit, and I utilized it. Agreements work both ways.
There is not a single word in the agreement that the account can be closed due to inactivity.

I had to wait 17 months while the XXXX finalize their police investigation to resolve fraud and identity theft that happened in my name over various credit card accounts. Capital One needs to honor their Zero fraud liability policy that they haven't enforced under my name.

Complaint: I XXXX XXXX am in a position to file for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. However, as a means of pursuing a reasonable procedure to get out of debt over the next year without such a drastic step, I am requesting very low settlements in the 20 % range of where my debts were at the last payment. Accordingly, I believe that I only have one chance at this, and if I do not start receiving settlement offers soon, I will retain the bankruptcy attorney I recently consulted. Therefore, I request letters of settlement, and I request the cease and desist from all calls to my home, cell and/or work. I desire to resolve these matters in written form only.

Complaint: I am paid automatically the same day every month by the US Government. This pay is guaranteed for my lifetime due to my combat service and non taxable. I have never had a negative mark on my credit history until this incident with Capital One. This past year the government made a clerical error at no fault of my own and withheld money in the spring of XX/XX/2018 and then again in the winter of XX/XX/2018. I received no notifications that I would get no pay prior and had to wait both times for the government to process a refund. During the last payment interruption I contacted the credit company to notify them of the government shutdown. They agreed to waive the late fees and I made a payment of {$10000.00} as goodwill to show my credit worthiness. I was told multiple times on different occasions by creditor that I would not be receive a mark on my report for payment. In XXXX they reported I had been 60 days late on payments although we had agreed to the payment waiver. I formally disputed the report and then they changed the report to 90 days. I formally disputed it again to no avail. I have called the company three times to voice my concerns and communicate these errors with Capital One and they will not offer any assistance or accept the official documents from my bank account, Department of Defense, or Veterans Affairs that prove the validity of my income, missed payments, and claim.
I used this company specifically for the benefits of travel points they advertised. Capital One is taking advantage of XXXX veterans and servicemembers that have guaranteed income. I would have never used this company if I had known they would not cover government pay hardships that are formally documented.

Complaint: On XX/XX/19 I got online to pay my Kohl charge card and saw that I was past due I called Kohls spoke to a supervisor initials XXXX who informed me I had cancelled two payments. I told her I never cancelled any payments she stated I had to reach out to my bank and get that rectified.and If I paid {$110.00} I would be caught up. I paid the {$110.00} and then on XX/XX/XXXX I see my account is past due {$150.00} I said what is going on. I called Kohls again spoke to XXXX ID # XXXX who told me the call didn't have to be monitored because account was due for XXXX and XXXX. to send the letter to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Wisconsin but they would not be able to take 30 days off because it was valid. I was given false information I have never been 30 days late and now this has affected my credit.

Complaint: Capital One Bank, N.A. act # XXXX, showed up on our credit report in XXXX. This bank credit card was open under another account number which was included in my bankruptcy. At first I thought it was that account and that for some reason even though it was included in bankruptcy in XXXX that they had opened the card back up. I contacted the bank and they said the card was open and that they sent me a new card. I never received any card in the mail or any billing statement from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. I got a call from Capital One saying they were going to put a collection on my credit report if I didn't pay for this card and that they would hurt my credit. Since I work for the government and I didn't want anything else to hurt my credit or security clearance after I had filed a Chapter XXXX two years ago, I paid the card off and Capital One told me they would remove the derogatory statements from my credit if I paid. They never removed any derogatory statements from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX and after further investigation including paying for all three of my credit reports, I discovered that this is for an account I am not even aware of opening and not the one that was supposed to be included in my bankruptcy. The company had the wrong address on file and had one of my old addresses too which I have had issues with the new person at this older address stealing property that is delivered to them by mistake that is for me.

Problem with rewards from credit card
Complaint: I have been a Capital One customer for many years. Earlier this year ( XXXX ) I received an advertisement for the Capital One Savor One Card to my personal address with my name on it. On the card, it advertised a spend bonus where, if you charged > {$500.00} to the card in the first 3 months, you would receive a cash back bonus of {$150.00}. Seeing this as a good incentive to open a new credit card ( which I had been searching for ), I went online to Capital One 's website and signed up for the card and was instantly approved. The next month, I paid off a balance of > {$500.00} and awaited the spend bonus to show up in my account. It did not.
The first time I called Capital One and told them my situation, I was told by a gentleman on the phone that the spend bonus should show up in my account within 2-3 days after the balance was paid off, even though had already been about 2 weeks since I did that. He transferred me to a 'rewards specialist '. The 'specialists ' gave me 4 reasons as to why I was not eligible for the rewards : 1 ) I did not apply for the credit card within the time frame the spend bonus was being offered. When I told him that was not true because I received the ad via mail and that it was still being advertised currently, he gave me another reason. 2 ) I applied for the credit card through a 3rd party website and therefore I was not eligible for the spend bonus. This is not true because I signed up via Capital One 's website as directed by the direct mail I received. 3 ) I was also told that the specific code that came with the mail advertisement did not include the spend bonus. This could not be true because even when going through the application online the bonus was still being advertised to me. ( bait and switch ) 4 ) The final reason they gave as to why I was not eligible was because of some vague wording in fine print stating that previous or existing account holders may not be eligible. I have never held a Savor One account, and, although I was a previous Capital One Customer, it did not say the offer, which I personally received from them, was not available to existing Capital One Customers. That fine print is to prevent people from repeatedly applying for multiple Savor One accounts and taking advantage of the same bonus multiple times. From what I experienced, it seems like they can arbitrarily decide who is ineligible, which is dangerous and potentially fraudulent. I was told that there are many factors that could lead to me being ineligible, but when I asked what those factors were that made me ineligible, no one would tell me.
As a consumer I feel I have fallen victim to a bait-and-switch maneuver. I was sent a personalized advertisement by a company and was allowed to go through the entire application process under the full impression that I would be eligible for this bonus. Otherwise, I would not have applied for the card. Capital One has relied on their own vague wording in their contract to arbitrarily deny people from the spend bonus for any 'reason ' and this seems very wrong to me and I feel taken advantage of as a consumer.
They knowingly offered me something I was not eligible for and did not inform me at any step in the process of my 'ineligibility ' and threw multiple reasons that they felt could fit my situation.

Last month I paid off that card and should have a {$0.00} balance and be paid in full with account closed. based upon the screen shot this has to an error on their part as the dates do NOT line up. They are saying that credit utilization as of XXXX XXXX was 0 % and at XX/XX/XXXX it was at 64 %.
XXXX and XXXX both are reporting that both accounts have been closed and settled.

Complaint: I had an unfortunate situation happen and I knew I was going to need some assistance with making payments on my capital one credit card. I called and the company gave me 3 months assistance by not charging me late fees as long as I made a {$50.00} payment each month. So I got back on track from my situation and I went to purchase a new home and I find out they put 2-30 day lates ; XX/XX/2019 and XX/XX/2019 on my credit. So I sent the credit bureaus copies of the letter stating they wouldnt charge me late fees and the credit bureau said the information wasnt gon na change. So Im trying to see how is it they said they wouldnt charge me yet attack my credit.

Complaint: Dear CFPB, XXXX has made a huge erroneous mistake on my credit report, as you may know I have been disputing items on my credit report. XXXX open a dispute for my two credit cards that I just opened two months ago with CAPITAL ONE XXXX and XXXX, now it has been deleted off my credit report!! deleted from XXXX credit file and XXXX credit file, XXXX is not reporting this months balance. Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX I opened up my first credit card with Capital One.
Due to it being my first and being XXXX, it was a high-interest rate and {$500.00} credit limit.
I attempted several times over the years to increase my limit or decrease my interest rate to reflect my increasing credit history and credit score.
Three years ago I was told that it was a special type of card where neither of those two options would ever be available. Because it's a low credit limit, I was worried about utilizing it and exceeding my 30 % recommended utilization. I was advised by the credit card company that the best way to utilize this card was to never close it because it was my oldest and was at least benefiting my overall credit score that way. I was never warned to maintain activity on it.
On XX/XX/XXXX I was advised that my card was suspended and being closed in XX/XX/XXXX due to inactivity.
This is my oldest card ( I have been a " valued member '' with immaculate history with the company since XXXX ) and it will significantly impact my credit score.

Banking errors
Complaint: My debit card was to be replaced due to unauthorized use. With that in mind I explained to capital one that I was in another state working, and my card needed to be sent to this location. And my address had already been updated in there records with this address, and they sent it to the d address. And at this time in my need of my money from my account to pay my motel bill, capital one has refused any option to send wire transfer money to me, putting me out on the street in a city I dont live in nor know anyone. And yet they have done nothing but rudely argued that its not there problem and there is nothing as the representative said again today when she said let me advise you once again you will not get your card today. Even when the second card was issued and promised to arrive on the 29 which even there app has that listed. They have no remorse nothing to say about there fault with sending my card elsewhere and refuse to help me in anyway to get my money to pay my hotel bill. Ask for the recordings and see if that doesnt open your eyes to a deceiving bank that doesnt care about anyone. This has caused me to have to sleep on the street! Is this really how banking with these immoral people should be handled.
