Complaint: I applied for American Express Everyday Credit Card on their online website and was eventually approved for it on or about XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. Part of their promotion was 10,000 points upon successful completion of purchase of $2,000.00 or more. Even after i completed all the requirements, American Express refused in XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX for the following reasons: 1) American Express says that i had the same credit card before, therefore i do not qualify for bonus for the Amex Everyday Credit Card. (I never had this credit card in my lifetime) 2) I have too many revolving accounts/high credit utilization so Amex refuses to give me the promotional points. (These were never advertised nor written in any agreements between Amex and I). I believe every conversation i had with American Express was recorded and i would be happy to provide additional information should such opportunity arise.

Complaint: End of XX/XX/2019 I applied for an American Express card to do a balance transfer. The first balance transfer was for XXXX from my XXXX credit card. The second amount i transferred was XXXX from my XXXX XXXX card, because the interest is so high. I get a letter on XX/XX/2019 saying my balance transfer was a success and the letter showed to whom the balance transfers were made. As I was looking over the letter i noticed they sent the XXXX to a XXXX XXXX and not my XXXX XXXX card. I do not have a credit card from XXXX XXXX. And to top it off the XXXX that i wanted to be transferred from my XXXX XXXX is still on my XXXX XXXX card. I called them and they said that yes they did in fact make a mistake and it would be taken care of and would show on my next statement which would of been XX/XX/2019. Well it wasn't. I have made 3 more phone calls to them and the XXXX is still on my.statement.I contacted the XXXX XXXX XXXX and I received a letter from American Express saying the transfers were made correctly and they requested this money back from XXXX XXXX but it can take up to 180 days. What?? Not only is the XXXX on the American express card statement but I also have the XXXX that was supposed to be transferred from my XXXX XXXX card is still there. This amount on the American Express card is showing up on my credit report and i keep getting a bill for this amount. i am not paying this amount and it is going to ruin my credit and everything else. I am going to be charged interest and probably start getting calls they want this money. Please help? They are not trying to rectify this mistake that was made by them. i canceled this card on XX/XX/2019.

Complaint: I was contacted by American Express [ by email] with an offer for a new credit card. It was for the XXXX XXXX XXXX. -- a new card and new name. I was offered XXXX XXXX points for signing up if you spend $XXXX in the first 3 months. I called and checked to make sure that if I spent this amount and charged it to the card I would receive the points. I applied , received the card in XXXX I called again to check that I would receive the points and again I was assured I would. I spent the amount in the first 3 months as required.I did not receive the points. I called customer service and a complaint was filed. I never heard from them. I called again on XX/XX/XXXX --I care # XX/XX/XXXX -- I was assured by a rep that I would indeed receive the points as I was misled. I called today, XX/XX/XXXX to see what happened and I was told they closed the case as a XX/XX/XXXX company that I am the head of had a card in XX/XX/XXXX. That XX/XX/XXXX received points. They told me there was nothing they would do about not honoring their offer even though I asked before using the card. I am a XXXX XXXX and I would have used a different card to make these charges if I was not going to receive this bonus. Also I would have not applied for it in the first place.Thank you for any help with this.

Complaint: I am a Professional, fully employed multiple business owner and employer. I have over 20 fully valid credit cards in good standing. My credit history is outstanding and I pay ALL obligations. American Express has, for reasons unknown to me, in what appears to be a deliberate move, undertaken moves that are causing me harm that I have been unable to resolve with them, in spite of HOURS attempting to do so. I have made an unprescendented effort to both understand and resolve issues with this company, and have been thus far unable to make any progress. I am a XXXX year customer of American Express and currently hold 3 of their cards including their Platinum level cards, along with "affiliated" cards with Hilton and Delta airlines. These cards are ALL current and paid. Historically, I had a Platinum Corporate card with American Express along with an Optima card, a Delta Card, and a Hilton card. The Platinum card was on a Corporation that underwent a Chapter XXXX bankruptcy, but was current at the time and payments were being made on ALL cards. After the bankruptcy, American Express canceled the Corporate card. Once canceled, it became impossible to make payment on the account in spite of attempts to do so. I contacted American Express and explained that I wanted to clear the account. I was advised that the account had been handed over to a collection agency and that "they" would be contacting me. They would not provide the name of the Company. The Company is XXXX XXXX XXXX in Pennsylvania. I have NEVER been contacted by them. It appears now that XXXX XXXX XXXX have canceled the PERSONAL accounts with American Express including a new Platinum account that I was charged and paid a $500 membership fee for without notice and without cause. All accounts were in good standing. The bankruptcy attorney has indicated that this is not a legal remedy for them. I want this investigated.

Complaint: I applied for the XXXX XXXX American Express Card on XX/XX/XXXX and was declined ( Ref : XXXX ). I called them back to find out why this was and they told me that there was derogatory mark on my previous account from XXXX and that they can decline me based on this. However when I checked my credit report this derogatory mark was not on my record so this has to be deceptive practices or discrimination based on previous account that is over 13 years old. I'm absolutely appalled by the way I have been treated and will never do business with American Express ever again. I will make sure all my family and friends are made aware of this situation.

Complaint: Regarding AmEx accounts that they shut down against my wishes, they have been harrassing many people who are not my spouse, and even non-blood relatives. The most recent call was on XX/XX/19 at about XXXX. As I understand the debt collection laws and regulations, other outside parties may be contacted only once in an effort to secure contact information in a credit.debt dispute. Despite being told by these outside parties that cant provide such info, an AmEx rep at XXXX has repeatedly called alternate numbers for the same outside parties in succession. They must be stopped and punished for harrassing outside parties in a matter that is entirely between me and them.

Complaint: I have American Express Platinum credit card. This XX/XX/XXXX, American Express representative put an retention offer to my card without my request or permission at all. Then yesterday I called Americas Express to request a retention offer, because all my friends with American Express Platinum card have recently received a retention offer of either $XXXX statement credit or XXXX membership rewards points without any purchase requirement. However, very surprisingly I was told that I am not qualified for this retention offer because I was given a retention offer in XX/XX/XXXX. However, I never requested or accepted a retention offer in XX/XX/XXXX.Apparently American Express customer service representative put an offer in my account in XX/XX/XXXX but this offer never became effective. However, now I was incorrectly declined by American Express for the currently available retention offer that every other customer is getting from American Express. It is totally unfair to me. I feel that American Express put a trap in my card and use it as an excuse to decline the retention offer that is common available to every single card holder now.I request American Express to honor the current retention offer of either $XXXX credit or XXXX membership rewards points immediately.

I informed him that there was a fraudulent transaction yes it was declined but it was on it was it was it was in the email notifications that I got not linked to the transactions on the phone system or the online system I couldn't feel it but it wasn't I got an email notification. after I inform you of this I have asked him to can't close the card and issue a new one unfortunately said there was a fee I disagree with that that I should have to pay that fee because process the change of a new card because it wasn't my fraudulent charge so he put a temporary lock on the card so that that merchants couldn't try to use it again that does not satisfy what I want as an outcome.

Complaint: Ok it was early morning XX/XX/2019 I had my American Express bluebird card ending in XXXX I stopped at XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX to reload my prepaid bluebird card by Amex I get to the cashier tell her I wanted to load {$200.00} and she tells me to swipe my card and it didnt go through she tried two more times and it failed again and she gave me my money and receipt back for other items I purchased and I got home and somehow it was a reversal from XXXX for {$250.00} I call American Express and XXXX Amex tells me that theyre system was down and to call back in 30 minutes and I called back and they said I had to start a Dispute and I did but they denied it and now my prepaid card was at a negative {$250.00} like how does that happen its prepaid it was obviously a mistake made and they didnt see it that way

Complaint: I enrolled in a promotional APR for my card, which says interests for new purchase from XX/XX/XXXXwould be calculated at a level 1.99 %. Previously before XX/XX/XXXX, the balance is around 3000 dollars. At XX/XX/XXXX, I made a purchase at XXXX for XXXX dollars. But later due to a change of plan, I cancelled that ticket and they refund me XXXX dollars. For that billing circle, from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX, the remaining balance on my credit card is XXXX, which means it is paid in full. So the mechanism here is that for a total balance of XXXX, the credit received from XXXX, which is XXXX dollars, is used to pay the balance before XX/XX/XXXXand a part of the purchase from XXXX. Then from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX, I made no new purchase and paid a minimum payment for the card. They charge me about 50 dollars for the balance before XX/XX/XXXX. On my XX/XX/XXXXstatement, the balance subject to APR charges is XXXX. It is ridiculous. How come? Last month the balance is paid in full. For a month without any new purchase, they told me the system says you need to pay interest for balance that is paid full in last month.

Complaint: American Express cut my credit limit in half due to low monthly expenses on XX/XX/2019. Im frugal and spend about {$200.00} a month on the card. They cut my limit from {$15000.00} to {$7500.00}. This increased my credit utilization ratio. They did NOT inform me of this change. When I called they said I could no longer change it. I went on the website on my own to raise it as high as I can. I got it to {$11000.00} but would like to bring it back to {$15000.00}. They refused to reinstate it. I havent made a late payment in 16 years! They seem like they just want to force people to pay interest so they can make money. I am leaving the company as soon as I get my replacement card.

Complaint: I received a marketing call in XXXX of 2019 seeking an application for an American Express Gold card and the main selling feature was that I would receive 4x reward points on purchases in the category I spend the most in each month. I have received 4 monthly statements and have only received 1x rewards points in each month. I have called customer service each month regarding this issue. In the first month the representative was able to manually credit my account for the extra 3x rewards points. each consecutive month I have called I have been told this is a known programming issue and they are " fixing it. '' I am concerned that this will never be fixed and I have already spent a lot of time on hold and with customer service trying to get this resolved. To date I am short approximately 60,000-70,000 points which has a value of between $ XXXX- {$900.00} and this is continuing to climb with each purchase I make.

Complaint: An AMEX supervisor promised me he would get my complaint reopened ( which he did ) and promised AMEX would reach out to the merchant ( which they didn't ). I told him that if we didn't hear anything back from the merchant, I would close my account. I expect AMEX to be able to get responses from businesses that use AMEX for receiving payments. AMEX closed my case less than 24 hours after the supervisor opened it and they never even attempted to contact the merchant!
