Complaint: Had an outstanding business balance with American Express. I was in constant communication with them about our planning and timeline for paying the balance down. The performance of the business only allowed us to pay ~$XXXX/month. Without notice, American Express closed my business card AND personal card and sent the balance to collections which created a XXXX point drop on my personal credit score. When I called back into Amex I was able to negotiate a payment plan, but the company would not reinstate my business card even with the agreed to plan, and would not reinstate my personal card. They informed me that even though I had agreed to their payment schedule, my card would remain with collections and my credit score would not improve. The only solution is to pay the balance in full, which the business cannot support. So on the one hand they are offering a solution which does not alleviate the financial strain they have placed me personally under while on the other they are saying that nothing can be done until the balance is paid off. So my ability to do anything else to improve my financial situation personally (refinancing student loans, consolidating personal debt etc) - things that would give me more cash on hand to better support my family have to be put on hold until Amex is paid in full. This is extortion. Separately, since my business is under XXXX years old, all financing options with reasonable interest rates have to be personally guaranteed by me, so having a poor credit score creates problems in my ability to secure financing solutions for the business for at least a year.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2019: ordered video stabilizer from XXXXNever received product.On XX/XX/2019: -discovered company and product was fraudulent. The website is gone. The email was returned nonexistent. The product advertising was copied from a much more expensive product from another company. Found non-english video on XXXX that seemed to indicate the product and company was fraudulent.There is no way to get a hold of the company, period.-Same day, called and notified Bluebird/American Express of the fraudulent transaction. They gave me no indication that there would be more documentation needed. Or that I would need to check my email. Therefore I expected the same form of communication...a phone call. On XX/XX/2019 TWENTY FIVE DAYS later - Bluebird sends an email requesting more information from me for the ridiculously obvious fraudulent transaction. And giving me TEN business days to respond.And giving themselves FORTY FIVE days to respond to me. ( I do not check my email every week unless I am expecting communication.) On XX/XX/2019:Bluebird sends email notifying that dispute is refused. With no information on possible process or time limit to rectify except an address to request information.- Same day, I call Bluebird. Rep agrees that this was an obvious fraud situation and assures me that it is taken care of. My refund is forthcoming.-Same day, Bluebird sends an email to me that says they received my disputeOn XX/XX/2019:-Bluebird sends email requesting documents in .doc, .docx, .pdf, .png, .jpg, or .jpeg, which does not exist., through a cumbersome process - no way to forward an email. I only have an email from a nonexistent reply address.And gives me FIVE business days to respond and themselves FORTY-FIVE days to respond. ( I do not check my email every day.). They did not provide a way to forward the email from the company to them (the only communication I had from the merchant)On XX/XX/2019-Bluebird declines my dispute with no information on recourse.XX/XX/2019I again get the nerve and time together to contact Bluebird.After nearly an hour on the phone, they refuse to attempt to contact the merchant or provide a way for me to provide any proof. I am not happy with the entire burden of proof, with ridiculously short time limits of response, placed on me. Any attempt by Bluebird to contact the merchant would fail. They can contact them to send them my money. But they can't contact them to see if they even exist?Thank You.

I have now had them bounce my pre authorized rent check twice. Not only have I incurred charges from my landlord but they are now in the process of evicting me from my home.They have not responded to my previous letter of XX/XX/XXXX and I have written to them again. Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I received a mail offer from American Express for the EveryDay Credit Card offering me $XXXX annual fee with $XXXX balance transfer fee and 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers. I was interested in the offer but there was no information for how much I was pre-approved for or whether the balance transfer was limited to a certain amount. I went to the amex website and entered the RSVP code they gave me along with my social security number to run a credit check. My credit check went through but the website then informed me that there is a limit to their balance transfers. At this time with the new terms offered to me by American Express, I rejected this offer and attempted to remove my information and exited the website. Their website shows an "application progress" bar at the top of the page and I was only at the first stage of this process. The final stage was the "submit application" stage and I intentionally exited the process before submitting my application or consent to their new offer.An hour or so later at XXXX I received an email telling me that I have opened a new account and they would send me a card in the mail. American Express opened this account without my consent using fraudulent and deceptive practices. This adversely affects my credit history by showing a new credit inquiry and a new account that I did not consent to opening. I called their customer service center and spoke with XXXX-employee number XXXX, and she is sending this to their fraud department.

Complaint: Last summer, I took advantage of a promotional offer on Amex Rewards Business Gold Card to get XXXX rewards point if I spent XXXX dollars within 3 months. I obtained that card for my small XXXX business, and after satisfying the spending requirement sometime in the Fall 2018, I received XXXX reward points.At that time, I ended up with two rewards cards: one was my personal card, called EveryDay Card, and another one, above-mentioned business rewards card. I called AMEX Rewards Customer Service to advise me which card is better to use. I was told that both cards basically offer they same rewards benefits, except on personal card, if I spend XXXX dollars a year in groceries, I would get additional XXXX rewards points--the feature that is not available on business cards. So I basically stopped using business card and started using personal card for my everyday purchases.Last Spring, I began considering to basically curtail my business activities, (I am XXXX y/o now), I decided that to get rid of the business cards that was no longer using. I called general customer service, and explained to a Representative(I believe, he was in XXXX or XXXX) to him why I wanted to close the business card account. He was understanding, and fulfilled my request.I must say that nowhere during that call he would warn me that if I close the account before one year anniversary, I would be in danger of losing the XXXX rewards points.After Amex indeed took my XXXX points away, I called the rewards customer service and explain to them what happened last year and also this spring. Two rewards customer service supervisors who I discussed this matter, basically agreed that that automatic removal of XXXX points from me was a mistake, and I should file an appeal, which I did. I was also told that their customer service cannot correct this error: it should go to some unnamed "higher entity", which is supposed to do just that.After a few weeks without any news on my appeal, I contacted AMEX headquarters and was given a contact of Mr. XXXX, presumably from the AMEX Executive Office.Mr. XXXX was nice but completely useless: he wasn't one who was making decision in my case: it was someone else, who Mr. XXXX refused to identify. He only informed me that my appeal was rejected. When I asked him to send a written explanation as to why and by whom it was rejected, he promised me to do so, but never did.As result, because of series of perhaps unintended mistakes by the AMEX representatives I lost XXXX rewards points that I could use in a variety of ways: from travel to hotel, car rental, etc.I believe the justice should be restored and AMEX as a company should be held responsible to the information provided by their representatives, wherever they are.

Complaint: Amex offered me a Blue card after XXXX replaced Amex with VISA. I said yes. Amex sent me 3 different credit cards (from XXXX XXXX, FL I think) that had fraudulent charges in XXXX Florida for video games and kids stuff. I am XXXX years old. I live in XXXX, FL. Finally, I told Amex to just cancel all my cards with them. The hold times and transfers between departments and an inability to follow through on the part of Amex has led to many wasted hours on the telephone over this past year. Finally, Amex did agree that the charges were fraudulent. It took Amex many months to correct my bill. By the time they cleared my account with the fraud department the account had accumulated late fees and interest charges. I believe the original fraud event was XX/XX/2018 for $XXXX. So while this has been cleared I cannot get anyone at Amex to understand that the remaining bill is interest and late fees.... on charges that were never mine to begin with. Please help.

Complaint: CFPB XXXX-XXXX was mistakenly closed as a duplicate compliant - this was NOT A DUPLICATE compliant as it contains new information regarding evidence of fraud that I did not have when the original compliant was filed. I had requested the evidence many times however, AMEX did not clearly communicate where I could find the information and delayed mailing it out until just a few weeks ago even though this dispute started back in XX/XX/2019. COMMUNICATION FROM CFPB XXXX-XXXX This is a follow-up compliant to CFPB Ref No : XXXX-XXXX. In there response, AMEX completely failed to address the issue of fraudulent charges as evidence by the fraudulent signatures shown in the documentation provided by the merchant. From day one of the compliant initially started on XX/XX/2019, I was very clear that I was at the location but did not make the charges. Any surveillance footage provided by the merchant does not prove anything. ID was provided to enter the merchant 's place of business. AMEX initial response documentation includes : evidence of one way mail correspondence by AMEX but failed to mention the multiple times I had called to complain I wasn't receiving the mail correspondence or the 5 times I re-disputed the claim but I 100 % disagree with the findings. Documentation also includes XXXX receipts showing fraudulent signatures as well as surveillance footage. Additionally note, on the XX/XX/XXXX call with AMEX I specifically requested that the associate mail any and all documentation/evidence that the company has on this case so that I may review it and not identify the inaccuracies. AMEX representative said this would happen - to date, I have not received any of the " evidence '' in the mail. Attached - + Original CFPB compliant + AMEX inadequate response + AMEX one way communications - this is what was provided in the original response by AMEX

Complaint: My Bluebird by American Express account was permanently suspended XX/XX/2019 without any type of notice or warning, I didn't even realize it had been suspended until I tried getting my bill money off the ATM machine at the neighborhood XXXX and I tried calling customer service but it is just a recording telling me my account has been permanently suspended and I was sent an email to further explanation but I never received the email I have even been checking my spam folder to make sure and after the recording is done it just hangs up and doesn't allow me to speak to any representative. This is unfair to me because I should have been notified before just permanently suspending my account without a warning now I can't even contact customer service to get the remaining of my money off the card it seems I have been blocked from even contacting anyone to help me resolve this problem. Please if someone can help me solve this problem as soon as possible it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Unexpected increase in interest rate
Complaint: I noticed an increase to my Annual Percentage Rate to 29.99% for my American Express "Classic Blue Cash for Business Credit Card." I use this card for business expenses only. To my knowledge, I never received word that the rate would be increased by so much, and without a reason, based on my conversation by phone with a American Express representative. The "best she could do" was lower that rate to 19%, which is still significantly higher that previously. My recollection is an initial rate of approximately 14%. I've had the card for several years, and remain a customer in good standing with American Express (35 year Amex customer). Do I have any recourse to what seems to me to be price gouging? A phone conversation with American Express did little, except to tell me like it or leave it. If this kind of price gouging continues to be deemed acceptable to American Express, I have little choice but to pay this card off and take my business elsewhere.

Complaint: Unfair decision or discrimination based on my personal credit history?. They closed my American express account XXXX for no reason and I reported to them that the last transaction was not my authorized purchase because of my credit card got stolen but they are insisting me to pay them with accumulating interest for months that im trying to disputing the charges. In addition, if my account was XXXX it should be cleared by now because its over 7 years or more they should remove it from my record thats the rules. I suffered enough for those years that i did not authorized the charges. My credit score is weak because of them and it should be cleared by now. I also recently applied for credit card through American express but they denied me twice. On XX/XX/XXXXXX/XX/XXXX AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD Declined. On XX/XX/XXXX DELTA SKYMILES OPTIONS CREDIT CARD FROM AMERICAN EXPRESS Declined.
