Fee problem
Complaint: While this complaint pertains to the Monthly Service Fee I was charged on my Checking Account with Wells Fargo, it has more to do with the lack of warning and notification of the service fee that I was charged. I currently have, through the Wells Fargo Mobile application on my XXXX, notifications on any and all activity within my Checking Account. Every time a Deposit/Charge or Withdrawal/Debit is posted to my account, I get a push notification sent directly to my XXXX. I have this set up as this is not my main account, and I like to be aware of all activity within the account. On XX/XX/2019, I logged into my Wells Fargo account on the mobile application and was shocked to see a Withdrawal/Debit charge of {$14.00} related to a Monthly Service Fee that occurred by on XX/XX/2019. Had I not logged into the rarely used account, I would have never known of this charge, and would have been continued to be charged a monthly service fee each month after. The lack of communication related to this monthly service fee is completely unacceptable. I never, at any point, received any push notification or email noting that I would be charged or that I had been charged. I have two other Wells Fargo accounts, with enough funds in them to cover their arbitrary minimum balance requirement, that had I been notified ahead of time I could have transferred funds and been able to avoid the service fee.

Complaint: Wells Fargo letter from XXXX He stated that the supervisor 's phone call was not recorded. That is a lie. I have the original and it was recorded by Wells Fargo and XXXX XXXX. You can plainly hear him state that the call is being recorded. If XXXX lies about such a small detail as this, he is inclined to lie about most anything. As a lawyer, juries do not like people whom are caught not telling the truth, they can in part or in part dismiss the whole statement made by the person. Also he stated that there was miscommunication between the executive and myself. XXXX here is the miscommunication. Misaligned Vocabularies Plain language refers to the preference for words that are in everyones vocabulary what linguists term the core vocabulary consisting of about 200 to 300 words. These words are mostly verbs, pronouns, and demonstratives, such as his and that, which help distinguish the subject the speaker or writer is referring to. These words are used frequently and across many contexts to express meaning and intent, usually without misunderstanding. As the initiator of communication, the speaker or writer must choose words that are easily understood by the listener or reader. For example, a 10-year-old is unlikely to understand the meaning of plethora, so plenty or a lot would be better choices. A communicator should always consider his or her audience when communicating. 2. Messy Thinking Messy thinking results in messy speaking, which usually occurs when someone begins speaking before completing his or her thought process. As a consequence, listeners are taken on long, convoluted journeys filled with contradictions, extraneous information, and premature conclusions. Messy thinking usually happens during periods of stress or high emotion. Remember Platos observation : Wise men speak because they have something to say, while fools speak because they have to say something. In other words, think about the intent of your message before speaking, and when speaking, choose language that is precise, clear, and easily understood. 3. Faulty Definitions Homophones are words that sound alike or nearly alike, but have different definitions. For example, discreet means careful and circumspect, while discrete means distinct or separate. Other examples include : abhorrent aberrant alternate alternative disassemble dissemble emigrate immigrate flounder founder horde hoard Your choice of words is important because the wrong word can confuse the listener or reader. When in doubt, consult a dictionary or simply dont use the word. 4. False Civility While civility is a desirable trait in all societies, its often misunderstood and misinterpreted. Civility is a matter of context what might be considered rude or thoughtless in one situation could be proper in another. A parent warning a child to get out of the street shouldnt value the childs feelings over his or her safety ; a supervisor disciplining a subordinate for poor results shouldnt dilute or confuse the message in the hopes of being perceived as nice. Civility means being conscious and considerate of how actions and words affect others, but it does not mean beating around the bush or faking emotions. 5. Sloppy Language Habits Unconscious patterns of thinking, speaking, and interacting are developed over time. These habits affect your daily activities and your relationship with your environment. They surface in speaking and writing, and they often lead to miscommunication. Be careful when you use the following : Acronyms. Acronyms are abbreviated versions of phrases or organization names that are formed by combining alphabetical characters to create a new word, such as OSHA shorthand for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Federal Government. Acronyms save time and may improve recall of the underlying meaning. Unfortunately, acronyms are so ubiquitous in speech and print that their meanings are often misinterpreted. For example, the meaning of the acronym ACA could be correctly interpreted as Affordable Care Act, American Correctional Association, American Camp Association, or American Chiropractic Association. If you use an acronym, be sure to provide its meaning so your audience is not confused. Jargon and Colloquialisms. Many social, business, or professional groups develop special vocabularies to describe concepts and activities specific to their group XXXX jargon ). Examples include baluster in architecture, arabesque in ballet, and all in in poker. Colloquialisms are phrases and words from specific geographic regions typically used in conversation, but not formal writing. The meaning of pot liquor, a term used to describe the juices left in a pot after cooking peas or collard greens, would be readily understood in the South, but less so above the Mason-Dixon line. Jargon and colloquialisms can add color to speech and writing, even enhancing understanding where their meanings are understood, but the possibility of misunderstanding remains high. Assumptions, Stereotypes, and Allusions. Its well known that the use of assumptions taking something for granted or without proof can make you look bad. Stereotypes ( inaccurate simplistic generalizations ) and allusions ( indirect, often incorrect references ) can have the same result : muddying your intended message and confusing listeners or readers. There is little to gain from their use and much to lose, so avoid them whenever possible. Buzzwords. Words that sound impressive but convey no special meaning are in a special class by themselves. They have no place in intelligent speech or writing. Use of buzzwords is so flagrant that drinking games are built on their use in political speeches. However, politicians are not the only guilty parties some corporate cultures are infamous for their use. XXXX XXXX, the creator of The XXXX XXXX, even suggests that employees learn to use big, vague words as they progress up through management, preferring a sentence such as I utilized my multi-tined tool to process a starch resource to I used my fork to eat a potato. 6. Government-Speak and Legalese Legal and regulatory documents are especially open to confusion due to both their use of technical terms and a culture that often rewards quantity of words over quality and intent. According to XXXX writer XXXX XXXX, Hard-to-understand rules are a lawyers best friend, and the need for companies to lawyer up is a huge [ competitive ] advantage to large or established entities. Poorly written government documents ultimately led to the passage of the Plain Writing Act of 2010, and the establishment of a public plain language website, PlainLanguage.gov, to promote the use of plain language for all government communications. As you might expect, the need for improved written communication extends beyond the American borders and even the English language. There are organizations around the world that are dedicated to improving government document understanding through the use of plain language : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, XXXX in XXXX, and XXXX! in XXXX. How does this apply to that situation? It does not. Listen to the tapes of the conversation. I asked her not once but many times if the card was still open and see stated yes. It is not miscommunication- it is a screw up and human error. Call it like it is?

Struggling to pay mortgage

Mortgage: FHA mortgage

Complaint: I am filing this complaint against Wells Fargo due to the malicious nature in which they handled my review for mortgage assistance. On XX/XX/XXXX, I applied for mortgage assistance. The review was concluded on XX/XX/XXXX with Wells Fargo stating that they could not create an affordable payment. They claimed that our household income was calculated at $ XXXX/month. This is false. The application and bank statements verified this. We were given a chance to appeal and we sent in bank statements again, on XX/XX/XXXX to back up our income. On XX/XX/XXXX, they again denied assistance for the same reason. It was informed that the income was calculated as so because my husband is a 50/50 owner of a business and split his income. What made no sense was the bank statements and our application ONLY showed OUR income and NOT his partners. We are the applicants, so its common sense that that what we provided is ours and ours only. On XXXX XXXX part, we feel that this was done with crooked intentions. They deliberately cut our income in half to deny us the chance to keep our home. On XX/XX/XXXX, these falsified results were disputed. A rep named XXXX advised us to draft a letter informing that all income shown and provided is ours, only ours and all 100 % of what the P & L and bank statements show are ours as well. It was also suggested to request our income to not be cut in half. The letter was drafted to include in a file for re-application. A new application with all current and up to date documentation was sent on XX/XX/XXXX. The bank statements had all of my husbands deposits highlighted. The letter as suggested on XXXX was also included. Finally, on XX/XX/XXXX my application was again denied for the same reasons as the previous. This time they had calculated my income as {$1900.00}. This is a total lie and totally fabricated. The bank statements show almost 3 times this falsely calculated income. The bank statements also show only our name as well, NOT his business partners as well. The letter stating that all income shown is 100 % ours was also blatantly ignored. Wells Fargo has refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing or any remorse for their crooked mishandling of my application. I had placed my trust in Wells Fargo to do the right thing for my family and all they have done is falsify information, lie to us and cause me extreme grief and stress. I came to them to help me in remedying this situation and all they have done is spit on us. I have lost months of sleep. I do not want my children to suffer or to lose their home. I feel very helpless and am hoping that you can help. Why are they cutting our income in half and ignoring our request that they themselves advised us to write up? I am truly horrified with this experience and never knew that Wells Fargo could be so malicious. Please, I just want them to review my application without and of the crooked games. We just want mortgage assistance so we can go back to paying the mortgage again.

Other transaction problem

Money transfer, virtual currency, or money service: Domestic (US) money transfer

Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 Wells Fargo Bank issued two wire transfers from our checking account at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, {$500.00} per transaction, for a total of {$1000.00} without our permission. We do not bank with Wells Fargo and have not had any type of active account with Wells Fargo for approximately two or more years. We discovered the illegal withdrawal of funds from our account on Sunday, XX/XX/2019 and contacted a local branch of Wells Fargo by phone on Monday. Wells Fargo Banking personnel had two responses to our claim : 1 ) How did they ( Wells Fargo Bank ) take money out of our account when we don't bank with them or have and type of account with them? 2 ) There was nothing they can do about the illegal transfer, and we had to contact our bank, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and make them find a solution to the problem. Both responses by Wells Fargo personnel were reprehensible! First Wells Fargo Bank steals XXXX from us and then tell us there was nothing they could do about it, and we should go find someone else to deal with it. Fortunately for us we found out about the stolen funds in time for our bank, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, to rectify the problem before any checks we wrote bounced due to insufficient funds. Due to the efforts of our wonderful personnel at the credit union, they were able to retrieve the {$1000.00} from Wells Fargo before we were hit with penalties for insufficient funds. I am upset that Wells Fargo Bank did absolutely nothing to rectify the problem. Was this truly a mistake by Wells Fargo our did they purposely try to steal our money for whatever reason? How many other people have experienced similar thefts by Wells Fargo Bank. I hope a government agency fines Wells Fargo for their illegal act or at the very least penalizes them for their incompetent act of taking money out of our personal account without proper cause or permission.

Funds not handled or disbursed as instructed
Complaint: I opened this account during XX/XX/XXXX with a promotion of {$400.00}. Your terms and conditions were either unclear or very confusing. Like whether it is {$1000.00} for 3 consecutive months or something else, not at all clear. When finally I talked to XXXX, I was told that i have time tillXX/XX/XXXX.I kept the {$1.00} as minimum account balance. Couple of months - I got $ XXXX direct deposit but not everything is in my control. Expecting $ XXXX as a direct deposit every month when jobs are not stable is not a good idea. My previous job is over with pending back wages claims with XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ). XXXX has given verdict in my favor but back wages are provided as a check from XXXX not via the employer direct deposit. I was suppose to have 3 consecutive direct deposits of $ XXXX but it couldn't happen due to my job situation and pending investigations/litigation by Government agencies ( against my previous employer ). Needless to say there is more than $ XXXX kind of pending payment from the employer. For last 4 weeks - I am on unemployment wages ( since XXXX XX/XX/2019 ). One should understand that unemployment wages can not come any where near to $ XXXX direct deposit in a month. Moreover first week is a waiting period. Having said that could you please offer me {$400.00} cash bonus, I missed the terms and conditions ( which i initially misunderstood in the past ) with very short margin. Thanks in advance. Even self employment direct deposit using software takes around 7-9 days. Already during the last 5 months, I am getting direct deposit which is very near to {$3000.00} per month XXXX Around {$2000.00} Direct deposit XXXX {$330.00} and another Wells Fargo ACH of {$3100.00} XXXX {$3000.00} XXXX {$1000.00} XXXX {$1000.00}
