Complaint: I have a lease through Volkswagen Credit, which was until recently on automatic payment. A few months ago I noticed Volkswagen charged nearly {$150.00} more than my typical payment. Volkswagen never communicated it would charge this additional amount, so this was a complete surprise.
I contacted VW credit and did not hear back for several days. So, I disputed the portion that was above and beyond my usual payment with my bank. I again contacted VW in writing and did not hear back.
My bank confirmed with me that they tried multiple times to contact VW credit to work things out, which is typical for a dispute case, but were unable to get a hold of anyone and eventually the dispute was authorized by default.
The next month I receive a bill stating I was past due in the amount of the typical payment plus the mystery charge. VW credit had still not contacted me about this transaction despite repeated followup. Finally I get someone on the phone who explained what the extra charge was for ( a tax on leased vehicles specific to my city, which gets passed on to the consumer once per year ; she could n't tell me why I had n't received this extra charge in the 2 previous years of leasing the vehicle ). I tell her I will go ahead and pay the past due lease amount, since I did not dispute the charge to begin with, and I will read the law regarding taxation on leased vehicles ( this is not typical in my state but unbeknownst to me at the time a handful of cities tax leased cars ). During this conversation the representative assured me that since I paid the " past due '' amount it would not show up on my credit report, and I have until the lease ends to pay the additional charge for the tax.
After researching the surprise tax charge, I pay it within 30 days of the conversation and several months before the lease is set to end. A couple of months pass and I find out that despite paying the past due amount and the additional surprise charge, there is a derogatory mark on my credit report. I send a message to VW credit explaining the situation and letting them know that I was told very specifically that my credit would not be damaged by what happened. They reply, in so many words, that they do not plan to revoke the derogatory mark and they do n't care what their employee said.
First the diesel scandal and now a confirmation that Volkswagen does n't care about their customers or doing what they say they 'll do. Stay away from this company.

Problem while selling or giving up the vehicle
Complaint: I have leased two Volkswagen XXXX XXXX on consecutive leases. I made every payment on time. After the second lease expired in XXXX, XXXX, I received a notice from Volkswagen Credit that I would continue to be charged for the use of the vehicle. I continued to make timely payments, including a payment received by Volkswagen Credit on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I did not receive further notices from Volkswagen.
On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I parked the car in front of my house at approximately XXXX at night. My house is at the address to which all communications relating to the lease are sent. When I left my house at XXXX the next morning, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, the car was gone. I thought the car had been stolen so I contacted the XXXX XXXX XXXX police, who informed me that Volkswagen had towed my car. The police gave me an XXXX number to call. The person I spoke to said that Volkswagen had sent me notices regarding the car and my only option was to buy the car and installment credit was not available to me.
On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I visited the dealership that I leased the car from. The General Manager was surprised the car had been towed, provided me with confirmation that my XXXX payment had been received and a different XXXX number to call.
On XXXX XXXX, I spoke to " XXXX '', who informed me that Volkswagen had done everything right. He said a certified letter had been sent to me in XXXX XXXX. I told " XXXX '' I had n't received the letter or a notice from the XXXX XXXX about the certified letter. " XXXX '' told me the letter and been returned to Volkswagen. I told " XXXX '' I had n't received any notice from Volkswagen that they had towed my car or where my car had been taken. He said one had been mailed on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I told him I had not received it and requested that he fax the notice to me. To this date I have never received the mailed notice.
The faxed document stated that Volkswagen had taken the car because the lease had expired, but did not tell me where the car was and merely stated that I could purchase the car by sending a certified check to a XXXX XXXX XXXX It also stated that the car would begin to be auctioned on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I consulted a lawyer, who suggested that I send e-mails to senior management at Volkswagen expressing my willingness to buy the car and concerns about the impact on my credit since I had made every payment. I did that on XXXX XXXX, XXXX.
On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I was contacted by XXXX XXXX, who said she would review the matter and that she would follow up with me by Friday, XXXX XXXX, XXXX. She called me on XXXX XXXX, XXXX and said she did not have all the facts yet and would call me the following week. I told her that I had been informed that the car would be auctioned on XXXX XXXX, which she said she was unaware of. After consulting my lawyer, we concluded that Volkswagen was not being responsive and that he should contact XXXX XXXX. My lawyer left XXXX XXXX a voicemail on XXXX XXXX, XXXX stating that this was a simple matter that was easily settled as I was willing to purchase the car if I could get installment credit. XXXX called me and said she had been contacted by my lawyer and she would no longer be able to have any conversations with me and referred the matter to their lawyers.
On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I sent more e-mails to senior management stating that my car had been towed despite making payments and without notice. My lawyer received a call from " XXXX '' who left an XXXX number and an extension. Despite the fact that the extension was non-working, my lawyer reached " XXXX '' through the switchboard. " XXXX '' informed him that Volkswagen had done everything right and there was no possibility of settlement short of purchasing the car in a lump sum payment. He asked " XXXX '' why Volkswagen would not offer installment credit to a good customer and " XXXX '' responded " I am not a credit analyst. '' Subsequently, " XXXX '' in the CEO 's office of Volkswagen Credit called me. He said that he was aware that " XXXX '' was talking to my lawyer. On XXXX XXXX, XXXX " XXXX '' left me a voicemail saying he would be working through my lawyer. A week later on XXXX XXXX, XXXX " XXXX '' called my lawyer to offer to sell me the car and to waive any fees. My lawyer informed " XXXX '' that I had already purchased another car and that my sole concern was my credit rating. XXXX seemed surprised. My lawyer also asked him why the agents who towed the car did not leave a notice in my mailbox. " XXXX '' said he could n't answer that. " XXXX '' said he would get back to my lawyer within 48 hours with a response about my credit. He left a message two days later saying that my lawyer should call " XXXX '' at another XXXX number with an extension. Again, the extension was non-functioning. I called " XXXX '' on XXXX XXXX, XXXX and left a voicemail. I left another voicemail for " XXXX '' on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. He has not returned my calls.
While my primary concern at this point is about the impact on my credit, the process utilized by Volkswagen is clearly deeply flawed and designed to both intimidate customers and erect barriers to meaningful discussion of the issues. Volkswagen insists that they sent me notices. I received none. The notice that was faxed to me and all discussions with Volkswagen Credit were geared towards someone who had stopped making payments on their lease, not someone, like me, who had continue to the monthly payments. In addition to the car being in front of my house when it was towed and the agents failing to take the opportunity to hand deliver a notice, the car was leased in the name of my company. My company has a public website the lists both a phone number and an e-mail address.

Complaint: XXXX XXXX, XXXX To the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
I have a complaint and believe that I a.m. not being treated fairly by VW credit.
In summary, a XXXX XXXX that I recently leased was not placed on auto pay at the time of purchase on XX/XX/XXXXat XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX as I had been promised.
XXXX XXXX XXXX VIN : XXXX Account Number : I was led to believe that placing the vehicle on auto pay would decrease my monthly lease payments XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.
I was initially made aware that this was not the case 37 days following my purchase on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I made an online payment at that time of {$830.00}.
I called XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX to remedy this.
Obviously this was not remedied given that I was again notified on XXXX XXXX, XXXX that a payment was overdue. At that time I made an immediate payment of {$1200.00}. Unfortunately this payment was approximately 34 days past the due date and reported to my credit union. I again asked as to why Autopay had never been initiated and was told, for the 1st time, that they had no longer initiated such for the last year. I was never told this.
This was not the case for the other 5 XXXX that I have previously and concurrently leased, which were all on Autopay.
I would ask that this negative report be removed given that it was not completed at the dealership as promised. I have never had this problem with 3 prior purchases at this dealership and 2 additional purchases at other VW dealerships. I have made well over 200 lease payments to VW over the past years with no late payments.

Problem when attempting to purchase vehicle at the end of the lease
Complaint: Hello, My name is XXXX XXXX XXXX and I recently had to return a leased vehicle.
The vehicle a Volkswagen CC R Line, had only 20 miles and gorgeous car. I was pushed to lease the car when I really wanted to buy a car. I was also told that the more money down the less monthly payment, so I paid XXXX out of my 401k right up front. In XXXX we received a letter about the XXXX airbag recall and that our vehicle was being recalled.
On XXXX XXXX XXXX I returned the vehicle to XXXX XXXX in XXXX, KY. They were more than rude because we were not extending or buying the vehicle. I asked if we could have some kind of price reduction and review on the monthly payments since the vehicle had depreciated so much and I was forced to literally drive a ticking time bomb with a defective airbag for the whole term of the lease, even if the recall of the vehicle was not disclosed until later. I drove a vehicle that was not worth the price it sold for or leased for.
VWCredit did not care to even waive the return fee of XXXX nor the property tax remaining of XXXX.
There has to be some kind of refund on the original price.

Termination fees or other problem when ending the lease early
Complaint: I turned in my XXXX XXXX XXXX 3 months early, XX/XX/XXXX, due to the diesel emissions scandal. In addition this new lease vehicle had numerous mechanical problems including parking break failure. VW has let me down.
In XX/XX/XXXX I paid off the entire lease in advance. I had also overpaid an approximate amount of {$850.00}. I have had a {$0.00} balance and surplus since that time. The surplus amount was refunded to me earlier this year. My balance on recorded continued to be {$0.00} through XX/XX/XXXX.
When I moved to cancel the lease, the XXXX XXXX XXXX made it very clear that any lease payment refunds are only handled by VW Credit -- the 2 operate separately. I did n't receive a refund check from VW Credit and called on XX/XX/XXXX inquiring about the lease overpayment refund of {$1000.00}. I was told it takes up to 21 days to process. It 's XX/XX/XXXX and still no check. My VW Credit account online now says I must call to see any balance. I called XXXX and was told they did n't know anything about my balance and to call XXXX, then i was told to call XXXX and then XXXX ext XXXX. I was also told the XXXX XXXX XXXX handles this. No one knows what happened to my overpayment. Each person I 've spoken to has told me a different story. It 's infuriating. I log in to my VW credit account and all records confirming this payment history and overpayment have been removed by VW. My original lease ended XX/XX/XXXX so I am due the overpayment of {$1000.00} from XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX. Please help me.

Problem with fees charged
Complaint: I moved to Oregon and needed to register my car in that state. Oregon requires you to process registration through the lean holder ( VW Credit ). You send paperwork and payment to the lean holder, and they forward it to DMV with Title information. I mailed paperwork to VW Credit on X/XX/2017 They have record of receiving it on X/XX/2017 I was charged a {$45.00} title fee on my XX/XX/XXXX invoice. I waited the allotted 6 weeks for my registration to arrive in the mail - but nothing came. I tracked the problem down to VW Credit - they never processed the paperwork. I have been following up with them continually - trying to move the process along. I asked to have the {$45.00} fee waived - and they refuse.

Credit inquiries on your report that you don't recognize
Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, 2016, my wife and I went to Volkswagen of XXXX XXXX to get details regarding the leasing of a VW Tiguan. Before we leased the vehicle, I asked the sales representative if there would be any hard inquiries on my credit, and he said that there would not be any. Since we were leasing the car, he stated, there would not be the same type of hard inquiry you would get if you bought the vehicle outright. Today I performed my bi-annual check on my credit score and noticed a total of two hard inquiries ; one from Volkswagen of XXXX XXXX and one from VW Credit. These hard inquiries were neither authorized nor discussed while at Volkswagen of XXXX XXXX. As such we would like these two hard inquiries removed, as we did not even end up leasing the vehicle at the end of the negotiation process.

Billing problem
Complaint: On or about XXXX XXXX, 2014, we leased a XXXX XXXX from XXXX ( FL ) VW. When I entered the automatic payment info in my XXXX XXXX XXXX online account I apparently provided a premature end date. * I recognize that doing so is a major part of this issue. * About two years later we moved to our present address in XXXX XXXX, MA. As a result of my error the bank stopped sending what had been clock-work-like payments to VW Credit. When I saw my credit score decline I looked into the cause and immediately contacted VW Credit. While they had my new address ( as a result of the change in registration and taxation ), my current phone number and my current email, they made NO effort to reach me to tell me I was in arrears. In that regard I hold them partially responsible for abrogating duties that 99.999 % of other creditors would be delighted to perform. When I discovered the problem -- delayed by the fact that I was getting over a bad XXXX -- I immediately sent them three months of payments to get not only up to date but a month ahead to show good faith. Those payments apparently showed up on thew 62d day of when the first late payment was due and VW promptly informed all credit agencies that I was now 60+ days lateral further damaging my credit score.
I went to lengthy explanations with the CEO of VW Credit and everyone else who would listen. None did ; and I got a form letter back telling me that because I was late the matter was closed. VW credit has not lost a dime on me. I continue to be 100 % up to date on payments. But my credit score has been badly damaged and will continue to be so for 7 years. This penalty certainly does not fit my " crime. '' I am not a deadbeat or trying to evade my obligations. Far from it. I made a mistake and immediately fixed it. VW failed to make any effort to ameliorate the situation and strengthen our relationship. For a company that is paying billions in fines for lying to the world ... I find their behavior and callous treatment unacceptable by any standard.

Complaint: I traded my VW Beetle in for a VW Passet on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX told me that they would pay the last two remaining payments on the VW Beetle. I received a bill in XX/XX/XXXX for the VW Beetle. I called VW Credit and XXXX. They told me not to worry that they were handling it and that it would n't show up as a late payment on my credit report. I then received another bill from VW Credit in XX/XX/XXXX. This time I drove down to the dealership ( XXXX ) and spoke with accounting. I also called VW Credit. I was told that they were n't sure what happened, but apparently they had some type of accounting error. I was again reassured that my credit would n't be affected. My wife checked my credit report and saw that VW Credit did in fact report a late payment for XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX to XXXX as well as XXXX. I drove directly to the dealership and was told they would handle it. Finally, after two months ( XX/XX/XXXX ) they cut me a check, in which I turned around and paid VW Credit that very minute. I called VW Credit three different times speaking with XXXX and then again a XXXX requesting a letter showing the mistake made on their part and requesting that they notify the credit reporting agencies correcting and removing the two late payments. I finally received a letter from VW Credit on XX/XX/XXXX stating they would do so. My credit report still shows the two lates payments for XXXX and XXXX. These two late payments need to be corrected and show paid on time. Not to mention they also showed the VW Beetle on my credit report as if I still owned it for those two months when it had already been resold to someone else. This has adversely made my Fico score plummet all because of an accounting error?!! I kept being reassured that my credit would n't be affected.

Problem with a trade-in
Complaint: I am from XXXX and speak OK English ( I have asked a friend to type this ). My husband and I purchased a car from Volkswagon XXXX XXXX in XXXX Utah. We decided we did not like the car so we went to another dealership to trade the car in on another purchase. After the purchase was finalized on the new car the new dealership called us back and told us that the XXXX car was a lease and not a sale ( we did not know this ). We thought we had purchased the car and did not know what a Lease was. On XXXX/XXXX/2017 we went to the XXXX dealership and returned the car so that we could keep our new car ( we have a signed letter from from the XXXX dealership stating they received the car back on that day ). We then noticed that our Volkswagon payments for XXXX 2017 and XXXX 2017 continued to be pulled from our bank account, so on XXXX XXXX, 2017 we returned to the XXXX dealership and spoke to the person who had accepted the car ( XXXX XXXX ) who confirmed he had received the car back and wrote us the letter stating he had received the car on XXXX/XXXX/17, he then contacted other people to tell them to stop billing us for the car. In XXXX 2017 we applied for a mortgage loan and were told that the car was listed on my husbands credit report as 60 days delinquent with XXXX and XXXX payments showing missing which was dropping his credit score significantly.
We called the dealership back and were told that they did not know that they had the car ( although the salesperson said it had been sitting out in the lot for several months ). They had me call the financing company and tell them that we had returned the car and ask them to fix my husbands credit. They have refused to fix the credit and they kept the car for 6 months without removing it from my husbands credit report or reporting it returned.
Last week I spoke with the financing office again and they said the car was auctioned and we now have to pay an additional {$14000.00} before they will fix the credit and they say they will still not fix the credit. We have not received any letters about this yet. They say the car was sold at auction for less than what I owed on it and that is why I owe {$14000.00}. They have refused to provide me proof of what the car was purchased for at auction. If this is the case and a car worth {$26000.00} ( according to the financial office ) was actually sold for only {$12000.00} then I should have been allowed the option to sell the car on the open market myself and recoup the funds instead of the dealership getting paid twice for the car ( once from me and once from the new owner ).
<P/>
No one told us that the dealership would charge us this extra money for returning the car and they have the car and should not be charging us extra money.
The dealership should not be able to continue to charge us for the payments they took after they got the car back in XXXX and they should be responsible for removing the negative debt from the credit.
