Complaint: RE : TCF Bank Debit Card Fraud file number XXXXMy experience with TCF Bank has been plagued with issues, and the latest includes MY ACCOUNT WAS DRAINED BY A DEBIT CARD I DID NOT REQUEST OR HAVE! ( XXXX, I intended to close a checking account at the TCF Bank located in XXXX, XXXX XXXX, IL because I was being assessed a fee for not maintaining an account balance I was not told about. ) I was convinced to try another product - no interest with no minimum or fees. I agreed to keep my money at TCF, but specifically requested to not have checks or a debit cards issued. I wanted to withdraw cash directly. TCF Bank proceeded to assess a fee for checks I did not order ( they reversed the fees after I complained ) and apparently issued a debit card for the account which I do not remember ever receiving. Flash forward, I receive a Notice of Overdraft or Adjustment letter dated XX/XX/XXXX stating my account with TCF was overdrawn by {$410.00}. I knew that was impossible because I had not withdrawn cash from the account since XX/XX/XXXX. I immediately called their customer service and was instructed to go to the branch the next day and file a Regulation E/Electronic Transaction Unauthorized Use Claim, which I did. I receive several other Overdraft letters dated XX/XX/XXXX ( {$1200.00} ), XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX ), XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX. ) After calling very upset that TCF 1 ) PERMITTED DEBIT CARD TRANSACTIONS ON MY ACCOUNT WHEN I HAD NOT REQUESTED A DEBIT CARD AND IT WAS NOT NORMAL OR CUSTOMARY FOR THE ACCOUNT, 2 ) CONTINUED TO PROCESS TRANSACTIONS AND ASSESS OVERDRAFT FEES AFTER THE ACCOUNT WAS ALREADY OVERDRAWN, and 3 ) DOES NOT HAVE A QUICK REMEDY OR INVESTIGATION PROCESS WHEN AN ACCOUNT IS COMPLETELY DEPLETED. On XX/XX/XXXX TCF bank notified me a provisional credit of {$4500.00} for disputed transactions, and {$140.00} Service fee reversal would be given. I THINK TCF IS HOLDING MY MONEY WITHOUT CAUSE. I want to transfer my account to another bank, but am told the balance is provisional and the investigation can take until XX/XX/XXXX. TCF knows I filed a police report and made calls to venders on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, and THE VENDORS AGREE THE TRANSACTIONS WERE NOT MADE BY ME. XXXX vender, XXXX XXXX Floor in XXXX, WI XXXX charge of {$3700.00} ) said they have an employee that remembers the transaction and carrier ( a man with XXXX XXXX XXXX ) that picked up the order, and has a receipt but signature is illegible. XXXX XXXX, Building Manager at XXXX XXXX XXXX said the debit card had been called in, and acknowledged the transaction was not made by me. I spoke with another vender, XXXX in XXXX, IL ( charge of {$580.00} ). Per XXXX, the debit card was called in, they have surveillance, and an employee that remembers the man and car who picked up the order. He also acknowledged the transaction was not made by me. With just a few phone calls, TCF could easily determine the transactions were made fraudulently and fully release my money. I think it is wrong that TCF has not fully released my money, so I can close the account and move to another bank that has better systems in place to prevent fraud and track record of releasing funds in a timely manner.

Complaint: Overall complaint about TCF Bank : Unlike some other banks, TCF charges an overdraft fee for pending items even if you have money in your account that should cover a non-pending charge. If there is a pending deposit from the night before, TCF will access a fee if you make a small debit purchase because the money in your account is being held hostage for pending items instead of paying for charges as they are posted to your account. Here is a screen shot of {$200.00} in fees I was charged ( the bank magnanimously returned {$25.00} ). This is some sweet spot of manipulation that TCF has figured out. So while this may be technically legal, ( or is it? ) this is theft of the small hardworking individual who at the moment is fuming.

Complaint: We went to the TCF branch in XXXX MN. XX/XX/XXXX 2015. We wanted a fixed rate mortgage, so TCF set us up. We went through all of paper work and the time..and at the very last minute they told us we did n't qualify for the fixed rate but they could set us up with a variable rate mortgage. So because TCF 's appraisers lack of timeliness and TCF 's lack of follow through with the appraiser had already posponed our closing date from XXXX XXXX, 2015 to XXXX XXXX, 2015. We took the variable rate so we could close on the property. We handed off the variable rate mortgage to XXXX. XXXX and with the same information that TCF had, and was able to secure the fixed rate mortgage that we wanted. With XXXX institutions using XXXX XXXX. We submitted XXXX letters of complaint to TCF and as of this date there has been no response to either. We did request that because of the sub standard customer service we received from TCF we did n't expect to pay any costs to them including appraisal fees. They acknowledged the request but when we requested an transfer of appraisal to XXXX. XXXX the cost to us was {$250.00}. It was the worst customer service the we have ever experienced anywhere. We really felt like TCF did a bait and switch with us.

Complaint: I banked exclusively at TCF Bank since about XX/XX/XXXX. All of my bank accounts at TCF bank were contributed to living trust in XX/XX/XXXX. Having estate planning in place and money deposited at TCF bank, I envisioned my entire liquid asset would be secured and worry free. It was shocking to find out in XX/XX/XXXX that my direct XXXX payroll deposit account at TCF ( XXXX ) could not cover my {$18.00} hair cut check. The payroll deposit account should have received more than $ XXXX deposits from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. My other trust accounts at TCF, which received pension, investment and other incomes during the same period, were with a few dollars left in the account balance as well. It indicated that my entire living trust fund at TCF bank had vanished under TCF bank management. When inquired about account status, TCF branch manager would not reveal what had happened to my cash at various trust accounts except they were stolen by my spouse. He would n't tell me where the money was because I was not authorized to know without having my social security number in the accounts. TCF bank was aware of something but was not willing to reveal. He encouraged me to close all living trust accounts asap to stop bleeding which I did immediately. I obtained XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX bank statements of my asset accounts XXXX, XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX for XXXX ( exhibitions XXXX, XXXX ). I also obtained XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX statements of one of my spouse 's private accounts ( XXXX ) via divorce lawyer ( exhibit XXXX 's ). I obtained XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX bank statements of accounts XXXX & XXXX through subpoena. After careful studies, it was apparent that TCF may have been negligence for allowing systematic money laundering schemes to occur in my living trust accounts until all cash were totally depleted. TCF not only did not stop the frequent transfers of the trust fund to her private and controlled accounts but also did not question the sudden changes of monthly payroll deposits to wire transfer deposit and visa versa. TCF was happy to collect the {$10.00} monthly wire deposit fees instead. TCF also made long term recurring transfer arrangement with my spouse with $ XXXX monthly recurring transfer fees to accounts XXXX and XXXX for years which apparently assisted the execution of money laundering schemes ( exhibit XXXX & XXXX ). Exhibit XXXX, XXXX & XXXX are the spread sheet records of bank statements for the respective accounts. Exhibits XXXX, XXXX and XXXX are the flow charts which summarized the money laundering schemes to deplete the living trust accounts. Exhibit XXXX summarized the bank statement records and the estimated income generating funds that were responsible for the deposits of dividend and interest incomes to account XXXX. My spouse did not have a real job and had minimal income in 40 years of marriage. The estimated income generating fund appeared to indicate the location of the depleted living trust fund. Exhibit XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX indicated that TCF also had some questionable practice to allow an individual to create an account linked to a joint account ( XXXX ) in XX/XX/XXXX 's without my knowledge and signature / agreement. Exhibit XXXX showed the original check of XXXX which is different from exhibit XXXX. This linked account was not known to me until recent court discovery. The financial impacted to me in the XX/XX/XXXX 's was unknown but it will impact my potential loss of the XXXX equity to her false claim in the divorce settlement. My spouse had used the unauthorized linked account to XXXX to forge a court evidence ( exhibit XXXX 's ) to cheat non marital claim to the house which she never contributed any to it. The negligence of TCF bank management in the XXXX year span has resulted in total loss of my entire trust fund at TCF accounts. For more than a year of divorce proceedings, neither TCF nor my spouse is willing to provide any relevant account information to the divorce court for fair settlement.

Complaint: XXXX did it again. XXXX checks written days apart held until the perfect moment to hit me. The {$74.00} check in the pictures I 'm enclosing was written 6 days previous. Please make them stop this criminal robbing of their customers I 'm begging you they 've taken hundreds it if not thousands from me and my family. You 'll notice in the second pic I had {$200.00} in my account to cover these checks so how am I {$78.00} in the red when the checks do n't come close to equalling {$200.00}? Please help me.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, 2015 I went to my local TCF Bank ( where I had been banking for over 4 years ) in XXXX, Illinois to have the bank oversee my purchase of a mobile home. I had pre-arranged thismeeting with XXXX XXXX XXXX a banker that I had known since I first started doing businessthere ). I explained to her that I would need a bill of sale notarized ( which she said she could do ) and told her about the mobile home and the realtor 's contract and since I had recently opened an account specifically to deposit money for this purchase, I feltthat I would be safe finalizing the purchase there. I was so wrong about that. I would findout. The Realtor and Seller were there before I got there. The process of getting the checkfrom the account was endless. They ( XXXX XXXX and XXXX men I did not know from thebank ) took well over an hour to present a check for {$15000.00} drawn from my account unlike any check I had ever seen before. The XXXX male bankers signed it, I did not. It was made out to the seller with no acknowledgement about the mobile home, my name was printed in the memo section. The check made me uncomfortable but, It had taken so long for them to produce the check that my questions about it were given short shrift. To continue, first, a few hours later I found out I was not given a clear Title. The Seller and Realtor had given me a Title that still listed the Sellers dead husband on it. That was taken care of but, a few hours later I discovered that there was No working air conditioning. I was told it just did not work very well and the weather was still cool until I bought it and so I offered less money for it. There had been a slight odor that seemed to come and go but, it now reeked horribly in the heat of the mobile home. The next morning I called customer service at TCF Bank and said I had to stop payment on the check if at all possible Immediately! I was told to go to the branch because yes, the check had not cleared and I could Absolutely Stop Payment. I raced to the bank only to be told by XXXX XXXX that NO I could not stop payment. She refused to stop payment no matter what I told her about the condition of the mobile home, the awful smell smell it had etc. Instead she produced a letter stating if I stopped payment I would be guilty of perjury. This letter was from their XXXX XXXX XXXX, ready and waiting when I got there. XXXX XXXX was not alerted by me that I was coming. I called an attorney out of the phone book who told me I should certainly be able to stop payment ( it was my money ) and It was within a couple of days of the purchase etc. etc. XXXX was rude, threatening and nasty. I told her she was responsible for my losing {$15000.00}. She did not care. Customer service said she should have stopped payment and then told me I now would have to wait 90 days for any further action to be taken. I closed my savings account and left. I have since learned therewere numerous wrongs on the contract and that would have been ample reason to stop payment. I believe now that they would not do it because of the way they cut the check. They did not allow me to sign it. The XXXX bankers said they XXXX had to sign it - not me which made no sense. Now, I have never been able to live in the trailer because of the disgusting smell problems. I have been living in a motel causing me to spend all my money because I ca n't even sell the mobile home. The terrible smell which makes it uninhabitable will not go away and I 've spent so much money trying to get rid of it. I am divorced and alone and that 's why I felt I would have some protection by transactingthe purchase at TCF XXXX where they knew me. I am in an extended stay motel with no ability to attach a copy of this so called Official Check which has ruined my life.

Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX my boyfriend and I purchased my current house. Because of my previous credit history, we were required to do an FHA mortgage product. My boyfriend is a non-occupying borrower. My sister lives at the house with me and pays part of the mortgage payment. Early XX/XX/XXXX, my sister and I began conversations with XXXX XXXX at the TCF XXXX office. We wanted to get out of the FHA Mortgage and remove my boyfriend from the note ( keep him on title ) and have my sister on Note and title. On XXXX XXXX, XXXX requested bank statements, last 2 year tax returns, last 2 years W2 's and last XXXX paystubs from my sister and I. We emailed the required documents XXXX XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX - First phone call with XXXX XXXX at the TCF XXXX, MN office. XXXX informed me he would be taking over the refinance process we started with XXXX at the XXXX office. During this phone call he informed me it would be best to eliminate my sister from the process. I gave XXXX a credit card number for the appraisal. Shortly after the XXXX XXXX phone call, in the mail I received a Notice to Loan Applicant from TCF disclosing my credit score from the report that was pulled on XXXX XXXX. Per the Notice my scores were Equifax XXXX, Experian XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX. My complaint : After two months of back and forth communication with XXXX XXXX at TCF XXXX, MN office I was declined a refinance mortgage loan for reason of " Bankruptcy ''. It was unnecessary for me to pay the {$400.00} for an appraisal when my credit report, pulled on XX/XX/XXXX, would have clearly shown the previous bankruptcy ( and foreclosure ). If TCF operates under strict guidelines then I should have been denied a mortgage loan immediately. Why did they pull another credit report on XX/XX/XXXX? Why was I asked for additional documents after the date of the denial letter? I was never asked to provide any documentation of the bankruptcy ( discharged XX/XX/XXXX ). The customer service I received from XXXX XXXX was horrendous. I was ignored on many occasions and some of XXXX 's comments were rude and unprofessional. I went into this in good faith and was lead on for over 2 months sending numerous, unnecessary personal documents. I feel this was unethical practices by TCF and their employee, XXXX XXXX.

Complaint: I closed an account at TCF Bank XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX 2 months ago. I had an {$0.00} balance. they were supposed to send a check. I have called them 4 times regarding the issue. It 's {$0.00} cents! I am tired of calling them and them saying they sent a new check to me. They have my updated address and I never received it. It should not be this difficult. They are failing to communicate, send me this small check for closing my account, and I 'm tired of calling about it. This was the worst customer service I 've ever received closing an account. It should not be this difficult. XXXX phone call to close and they send a check. Simple stuff but they are not doing it.
