Complaint: I have recently been in discussion with a TCF rep and it was revealed that I have paid over {$1500.00} in fines since XXXX XXXX, 2015. No money was able to be returned to me. This is excessive and they way they post transactions is predatory, forcing some items to overdraw and then collecting on the menial transactions that happen after. I would like most ( if not all ) of my money back.

Complaint: I have a checking account with TCF Bank. On Monday XXXX XXXX, the balance in the account was {$51.00}, purchases were made at XXXX XXXX for {$12.00}, XXXX XXXX for {$11.00}, XXXX XXXX for {$3.00}, and ( local grocer ) for {$7.00}. I checked my balance online the morning of Tuesday, XXXX XXXX, and saw that the XXXX transactions had posted to his account and funds had been withdrawn, and the remaining balance was {$16.00}, then he went to ( local grocer ) and purchased some groceries for a total of {$32.00}. I realized that this transaction was going to cause an overdraft ( for which he has protection ) and he decided to make the purchase anyway, knowing he would be assessed an overdraft fee of {$37.00}. When payday came on XXXX XXXX, he got online in the evening to check the deposit and found that the balance was much less than he had calculated. TCF had charged him a total of XXXX overdraft fees at {$37.00} each, XXXX of which were assessed on XXXX XXXX and a fourth fee was assessed on XXXX XXXX. We ( my wifeand I ) called the bank this morning ( Saturday, XXXX XXXX ) to notify them of the discrepancy. XXXX customer service reps and XXXX Lead Customer service Reps explained to us that the fees were assessed on the previous XXXX transactions because they were not actually posted, but pending, on XX/XX/XXXX and the bank posted them on XX/XX/XXXX along with the XXXX transaction. They blamed this on the merchants stating that TCF can not control when the merchant will make the demand for payment. TCF is using this process of " pending '' transactions to assess more fees to the customer, and then blaming the merchants when there is a complaint. We plan to close our account with TCF as soon as the payroll deposit cam be changed, but other customers need to be aware of this fraudulent practice, and merchants need to be made aware that TCF is blaming them. If TCF were the only bank we do business with, we would fall for this scam, however, we also bank with a local small-town bank and a bank much larger than TCF and we know that this practice is not " an industry standard '' as TCF representatives claim it to be. In the end, the TCF lead rep agreed to take off {$15.00} and then agreed to remove XXXX of the XXXX overdraft fees. To avoid this happening in the future, they offered that we could apply for a line of credit or open another savings account and link them, that way we would only be charged {$10.00} for each transaction. They still owe us {$74.00} which we seem to have no recourse for but to take them to court which would cost us more. This is criminal and they are getting away with it.

( 3 ) lack of recent information on auto loans or lack of auto loans. It also included credit score XXXX. When I called I was told it was denied because I got the loan elsewhere. How can they deny a loan and send a letter with above reasons? XXXX was the credit agency listed.

Complaint: SUMMARY : TCF intently setup a system to rip-off customers by delaying and manipulating the posting of transactions as a strategy to unfairly deceive for financial gains. XXXX TCF intently set up a system to rip off customers by delaying and manipulating the posting of transactions as a strategy to to find opportunistic time to charge unauthorized fees. I have called to complain to TCF on each of the different fee charges below and request that the fees get reversed, but they simply refuse to listen. I do n't understand how such a practice can be legal. Here are the fees charged and the dates they where charged on the accounts end in XXXX & a recently closed account. In most cases, TCF would claim that yes you did have enough fund in your account at the time, but your deposited checks did n't clear in time to cover the currently issued transactions and those " delayed '' transaction that never did show up in the first place. They pick and choose, when or what time to post transactions as a " delaying strategy '' to intently charge unwarranted fees. That 's a clear definition of Unfair and Deceptive Practice. Especially that when all these fees are being accessed, at least XXXX of the accounts ( checking or savings ) always has enough fund to cover for any transactions that may have been issued by me ; but TCF asks for fees every time they would be put in place to process a transfer from your own account to cover a transaction from one account to another.

Complaint: My current situation started in XX/XX/XXXX when I was layed off from XXXX XXXX XXXX ; a job of 2 years. I approached TCF the following XX/XX/XXXX and discussed possible options for a mortgage modification. At the time my monthly payments were {$1000.00} per month and TCF agreed to a year long temporary modification of {$650.00} a month. In XX/XX/XXXX, after my monthly payments had returned to the original {$1000.00} per month that I again approached TCF on the possibilities of a permanent modification. TCF requested that I submit the required forms which I did the next month. I did not hear back from TCF all XXXX and into XX/XX/XXXX despite numerous attempts on my part during this time. It was at this time ( XX/XX/XXXX ) that I decided to cease monthly payments to TCF in the hopes of " lighting a fire under their feet '' I was contacted by TCF in XX/XX/XXXX and offered a " trial '' modification of {$950.00} per month ( with a 3 month phase in period ) which I accepted due to my desire to work with TCF. I made the XX/XX/XXXX and the XX/XX/XXXX payments but due to my employment situation at that time I was not able to make the XX/XX/XXXX payment. I resumed employment XX/XX/XXXX and contacted TCF the following month seeking to address this issue. At this time ( XXXX XX/XX/XXXX ) I was informed that TCF would resume accepting payment if I would remit 2 payments of {$1000.00} for XX/XX/XXXX and then {$1000.00} a month there after. I agreed to this because, once again I want to stress that I wanted to work with TCF. The 2 payments of {$1000.00} in XX/XX/XXXX and {$1000.00} singular monthly payments were electronically withdrawn via phone call voice authorization from my Mother 's TCF account due to the fact that my TCF account of 26 years had been shut down due to identity theft in XX/XX/XXXX. I had made payments for XX/XX/XXXX,, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX. When I attempted to make my XXXX XX/XX/XXXX payment I was informed that XXXX was no longer accepting payment from me and had begun the foreclosure process. I made one last attempt at modifying my mortgage starting in XXXX XXXX. After supplying again requested paperwork my " hardship modification '' was denied in XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. The following month XXXX XXXX XXXX ) I received in the mail a solicitation from a company that had agreed to assume my mortgage and modify my monthly payment down to {$550.00}. per month. This company needed TCF 's permission to proceed with the assumption process but after providing the new company with several phone number contacts to TCF 's mortgage office and numerous attempts by myself and the new mortgage company to establish a dialog. These efforts proved utterly futile and lead me to my honest belief that TCF was " stonewalling '' any attempts to rectify my situation to save my home and that TCF had most definitely developed a hostile and aggressive attitude and posture towards me

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, my recently deceased father was gifted an individual IRA Retirement Certificate of {$2000.00} from XXXX Wisconsin. This bank was purchased XX/XX/XXXX by TCF Bank. For the last two weeks, I have been speaking with TCF Bank whom can not locate the account ; even though I have provided all the requested account numbers, social security information, and even pictures of the IRA Certificate ( attached ). TCF can not locate the account/nor can not tell me what happen to the funds. They have also not offered to honor the Certificate with interest. Myself and XXXX siblings are the beneficiaries of this IRA, which we can produce. TCF Bank has failed to provide any information about what happened with this account, as it was not cashed. They can not just keep our money, which was saved in an IRA for over 30 years, so to accumulate interest. I have contacted the FDIC and also the Unclaimed Property Division ; whom confirm that TCF did take over XX/XX/XXXX ; and unclaimed property indicates they do not have these funds - and usually do not get IRA 's. I have also reached all to the Controller of the Currency on this matter. TCF is acting in bad faith for no honoring the IRA that can be produced by my family, giving the excuse they lost or can not locate the account. The failure of them to locate the certificate/account is not my family 's fault. This has caused undue duress on our family, whom has already lost a father and utilized too much of our time trying to claim funds that TCF Bank continues to provide us.

Complaint: Constant contact from Gateway One Lending to cellphone, employer, family, and friends. In one month contacted job over 50 times and left 32 voicemail on cellphone. Gateway has been advised previously on 2 occasions not to contact me anymore regarding debt, especially not at place of employment. On XXXX/XXXX/15, XXXX with Gateway told the receptionist at my job that he need the office manager to provide him my employment information so that he can Garnish my wages. He has repeatedly contacted my employer pretending to be someone other than a debt collector.
