Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Vehicle loan or lease: Lease

Excess mileage, damage, or wear fees, or other problem after the lease is finish
Complaint: This is a follow up complaint to XXXX and, in spite of agreeing with this complaint, XXXX XXXX continues its harassment, intimidation, and incorrect billing. To pick up where we left off on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter from XXXX XXXX offering to settle the ( incorrect ) bill for {$1300.00} or 80 % of what they claimed. There was no mention of CFPB complaint. On XX/XX/XXXX I was informed by XXXX XXXX that they processed my claim on behalf of XXXX XXXX XXXX and was paying {$1000.00} to XXXX XXXX XXXX. I sent the balance of {$280.00} along with a letter requesting a full, complete, and accurate statement. I further demanded that any derogatory information sent to credit bureaus be rescinded. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter from XXXX confirming payment of {$1000.00}. Instead of granting my request of XX/XX/XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX from a debt collector, XXXX XXXX XXXX, claiming on behalf of XXXX XXXX XXXX and addtional {$330.00}. I replied to this letter stating the account is paid in full. It is clear that XXXX XXXX XXXX is attempting to bully me into paying additional money in spite of their offer of XX/XX/XXXX. It should further be noted that the lease was paid through XX/XX/XXXX.

Excess mileage, damage, or wear fees, or other problem after the lease is finish
Complaint: My account number with Hyundai for a lease of XXXX XXXX is : XXXX I paid a lot of money as my monthly payment as of sales tax and I was all the way regular in my payment. I returned the car with very good condition and I spoke to one of the repair people from a Hyundai Dealership and according to his feedback " The car was in very good condition '' but their inspector charged me {$180.00} dollar on minor issues and also they are charging another {$40.00} as a tax on the lease termination. I spoke to their finance department multiple times and they were threatening me to report these amounts to the collection department and credit bureau. I tried to speak to their manager and they didn't allow me to talk to their manager. I tried to get the address so that I can file a federal complaint but didn't get sufficient help. They behaved like thieves who want to take money out of peoples pocket.

Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Vehicle loan or lease: Lease

Problem when attempting to purchase vehicle at the end of the lease
Complaint: My wife and I leased a vehicle from XXXX XXXX XXXX. We made every payment on time and purchased the vehicle prior to the lease expiring ( XX/XX/2108 ). My Credit Union ( CU ) sent Hyundai the funds and the title was transferred. Hyundai was slow to issue a check to the County Clerk for the taxes. My CU had to redo my loan papers to account for and to pay the taxes that were necessary to transfer the vehicle. My wife and I received a check from Hyundai made to the XXXX County Clerk. I voided the Hyundai check and asked that it be re-issued to my wife and I. After several weeks went by I called Hyundai in XX/XX/2018 to ask when we would receive the check. I was told that they would send a check in 3 to 4 weeks with no request for additional information. After receiving nothing in the mail I followed up with a call on XX/XX/2018. I was told that a check was not sent and that I needed to provide Hyundai with proof that the taxes were paid and then it would be another 3 to 4 weeks prior to us receiving a check. I explained that we are now paying interest on the tax money with my CU loan and that Hyundai is receiving the benefit of holding my money for months in the interim. The onus should not be on us to take time from work to prove to them that the vehicle is transferred and that the taxes are paid. Hyundai is already paid in full. Hyundai also refused to check to see if they were still listed with the BMV as owners or to confirm with my CU if a transfer took place. Hyundai could easily have checked my state 's website or checked Hyundai 's own licensing or tax department to verify the transfer. When I asked Hyundai what would happen if I would not have submitted my payments on time for their vehicle they stated they would have taken it or filed suit against me to recoup the funds. When I asked why it was ok for them to hold our money after we fulfilled all of our obligations for the transaction without any repercussions to them, Hyundai stated " that's the way it is ''. I asked Hyundai to specifically tell me what proof they wanted me to send and they could not tell me exactly what it was they wanted. They simply said that they just needed proof. The burden is now on me to provide some " proof '' and submit it in the hopes that it is acceptable. If so, in another 3 to 4 weeks we may get our money returned. Meanwhile, we had to pay licensing and insurance for our lease buyout vehicle but can not get our own money back to offset our expenses. This is nothing more than a giant company bullying and taking advantage of a small consumer while not caring about the impact to the individuals.

Vehicle loan or lease: Lease

Unable to receive car title or other problem after the loan is paid off
Complaint: I paid my lease in full on XX/XX/18 and submitted the odometer statement on the same date. Hyundai representatives told me that if I paid online, I would have the title in five days. I called them on XX/XX/18 ( 8 days ) to check the status of the title. They made a number of excuses about the delay, including that it took 10 days to process, and that they had an issue with the odometer statement. The 10 day period contradicted what they had told me before, and they were unable to explain what the issue was with the odometer statement that I had sent 8 days prior. I called again on XX/XX/18 ( 14 days ) to check on the status again. Now they told me that the title had just been mailed, well after even their second promised deadline. Again they blamed the delay on the odometer statement, despite the fact that I had provided them the statement to them 14 days prior.

Incorrect information on your report

Vehicle loan or lease: Lease

Account status incorrect
Complaint: After leasing a vehicle from XXXX XXXX for three years, with all monthly payments made in a timely manner, and all maintenance performed at the dealership from where I leased the vehicle in a timely manner, I turned the car back, after a one month extension expired. I paid {$380.00} for the lease extension fee and another {$1200.00} for outstanding taxes. Each payment was paid by separate check. On or about the third week of the extension, I received a phone call from XXXX XXXX XXXX informing me that I was delinquent with the monthly lease payment and that I need to make the payment immediately! I politely told this individual that he must be mistaken for I made both the lease payment and the tax payment. And, without missing a beat this person told me that if I didnt make the payment now that my car would be repossessed! This made me very upset and I informed this caller that he just violated the FDCPA because I didnt think that Hyundai was ready to repossess the car from a customer with a history like mine at this point! I then informed this person that my lease payment cleared my bank on the XX/XX/XXXX in the amount stated above, to which he replied that they applied those funds to taxes! And at point I requested to speak to a supervisor! A supervisor named XXXX came on the line and I told her everything that occurred with the previous individual and other things that was wrong since the extension began such as the notice I received from the DMV regarding the car registration and the fact that I was told not to register the car for that was Hyundais responsibly. And after expending {$250.00} on insurance, plus the lease and tax fees, I was told that I should go register the car where another {$100.00} registration fee was paid, in addition to {$120.00} for taxi fare was incurred. XXXX then told me that nothing more was due Hyundai. I asked her if that meant I didnt owe anymore taxes and she said that was correct. The last week of the extended lease I had to bring the car to the service department for a thermostat. And being the XX/XX/XXXX week I was told that the car most likely wouldnt be ready until Thursday the XX/XX/XXXX and I called on the XX/XX/XXXX but was told that it wouldnt be ready until Monday the XX/XX/XXXX! So on the XX/XX/XXXX I got the car out of service, was given a receipt, then immediately drove back into the service area to return the car to Hyundai. I was given a receipt from the return people then went home. Approximately two to three weeks later, I received a notification of excess wear and tear charge, among others, in the amount of {$740.00} for damages to the tires and curb rash on the wheels. Enclosed therewith were pictures showing gouging in three out of four tires, with extensive wheel rash! I was amazed and in disbelief because after three years I only put XXXX miles on the car and the car was in perfect shape! I immediately contacted the dealer ( XXXX XXXX, of XXXX, Connecticut ) and notified them both verbally and in writing that this damage was not caused by me! I also contacted XXXX XXXX to inform them. Both the dealership and XXXX XXXX denied any responsibility and in my pursuit of finding facts I began to review both the service receipt and the turn back receipt where I discovered that approximately 90 miles were put on the car while in possession of the dealership during the service they performed! Then after more than a month or two of constant communication the dealership agreed to pay for the excess damage charge. It was just about this time the I found out that XXXX XXXX XXXX submitted derogatory reporting to the credit reporting agencies which in my opinion was inaccurate, done in bad faith, and hurtful as my score went from a high good rating down to a fair score. My argument was that Hyundai cant misapply my lease payment to taxes, then call me delinquent, then report me to the credit agency! They were aware that I was disputing the debt and I was proven correct so far as with the excess wear and tear damage. The information they reported was inaccurate and just plain wrong, their reporting of due dates were arbitrary and not binding as the debt was in dispute. Furthermore, they were somewhat responsible for the delays since I could never talk with the same individual, that the issue at hand was beyond their authority and when they indicated that a supervisor would have to call me back, I never received a callback! So now its out of control but tonight I did receive a call and a few issues were addressed. However, I was told that the credit department would review this reporting issue but they will only remove perhaps the first derogatory but not the others. This is unacceptable to me for the reasons stated above.

Frequent or repeated calls
Complaint: Every day beginning on the XX/XX/XXXX of each month, XXXX XXXX XXXX - 3rd party collection department calls me about my payment being late. My payment is due on the XX/XX/XXXX. They call 4 or more times a day, do not leave messages, and at least 2 of the calls are now originating from an Unknown number. I answered this unknown number today, I had to ask repeatedly who was calling and the person kept asking me who I am instead of identifying herself as being with XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ). I have spoken with XXXX several times this year, and they record their calls. I have informed them that as of this year XX/XX/2018, my payday was changed to the 4th Wed of every month. I asked if they could move my payment date so my payments would be on time instead of 9-15 days late depending on the month. I was told to defer the payment instead. The person did not advise at that time that to qualify for payment date change, I can not have any extensions or deferred payment for 6 months. In XXXX, I asked them for help with my payment date change and was steered to a deferral of the payment to the end of my term. I was not advised that I would not be able to change the due date if I agreed to this action. I have called and written to them several times about changing my due date. This loan over 3 years old and I have never been 30 days late. However, they have deferred several payments and never informed that the due date change could only occur if the deferred payments did not occur within the past 6 months. They are now harassing me with calls the day after the XX/XX/XXXX, refuse to identify themselves, do not leave any messages, and now the calls are escalating in number to 4 or more times a day with some of these calls being from an unknown number. I feel harassed and I have several XXXX and illnesses where this harassment is creating unnecessary stress and duress. I have informed XXXX that I will continue to make payments and that their tactics are the reason the collection calls continue. Had they advised me of the due date change option accurately and appropriately, there would be no need for collection calls as my payment would be on time each month instead of 9-15 days late. I would also not being paying unnecessary interest and fees if they had informed me of this choice accurately instead of deferring multiple payments throughout the term of my loan. I still paid them within 2 weeks of the deferrals when I received my money. However, they do not apply the payment or any overage payments ( I almost always send more than the payment amount due ) to the principal balance of my loan as I have instructed on numerous occasions through their website and speaking to customer service. Instead, they lower the payment amount due on the next month. I feel like this loan should have a lower principal balance due to the instructions I tendered for application of my payments, and the harassment should stop. Stress exacerbates my illnesses, and harassment from XXXX is causing stress for me at this point. They have violated the FDCP in numerous ways as well as conduct predatory application of the money I send to my principal balance.

Billing problem
Complaint: I have had trouble with XXXX since the beginning of this loan. First, there were blank portions on my lease copy. My car was totaled at the airport. I had to have a car. I was in shock but not stupid. I did not sign a lease with a blank space, but that is the copy they gave me. I have paid {$320.00} on a {$310.00} loan for years. I knew it would cut off a large amount but I have two payments left ( one on XX/XX/XXXX ) and another I am not sure when ( XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/2019 ). I requested a copy of the payments. The copy is wrong. I have had multiple problems with this 6 year overpriced loan on a base XXXX XXXX -- I think it may have been wrecked and fixed and sold as new. The bluetooth didn't work for 8 months until it was replaced. I complained each time I had my oil changed. I couldn't get a title when I moved back to Texas from XXXX XXXX XXXX. The service departments in two states at various places in both states have treated me badly, even at the place I bought it near my hometown where I was visiting my mother when my car was totaled. Two dealerships in Texas didn't change the oil when I paid them after it turned 100,000 ; the first per a XXXX mechanic. At 120,000 it is burning oil even though it has been changed before time, and often at 3-4000 miles. It has been well taken care of, or at least I have paid to have it well-taken care of at the dealership. How do I get an audit of my account at XXXX? It is wrong. The sheets I have from them prove that.
