Complaint: Dear Sir or Madam : I am seeking assistance to for disputing the charge in the amount of {$200.00} on my account with Huntington Bank.
I have stayed at XXXX XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX. Few days later, the charge of {$200.00} showed up on my account on XX/XX/XXXX. Ive contacted Huntington and cancel my XXXX debit card and requested a replacement as well as opening the fraud and dispute claim. At the time I was not sure what the charge was for since I prepaid the accommodation thru XXXX.
I have made several attempts to contact with the XXXX XXXX XXXX and did not get any responses. After filing dispute and reported the fraud, Huntington customer service has advised me that the charge was due to missing key fob and the charge was based on the agreement I signed. The issue is that I have left key fob in the room upon departure, as I was specifically told by the agent who brought keys.
Just to make things clear, this property is a condominium and some of the residences are operated like XXXX. There is no front desk or staff onsite ( There is a office for condominium residents, but they would not help the guests for the hotel stay. ) Upon arrival, the guests have to contact the number which is posted by the entrance, then an agent shows up to bring some documents, keys, and take your card information. At the time guests are given their check out instruction which is to leave the key fob in the room, since there is no one to check the guests out.
As far as the dispute process goes, Huntington bank has been not helpful at all. After the initial claim, I was given the provisional credit on XX/XX/XXXX. They sent me a claim form by mail and returned it via fax on XX/XX/XXXX ( it was due on XX/XX/XXXX ), then they reverse the credit on the same day, claiming that they did not have an evidence from me.
Ive contacted Huntington and they reopen the claim, then the provisional credit was issued again on XX/XX/XXXX. I received another claim form by mail and returned them on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, the credit was taken out from my account again and Huntington has closed the claim due to no evidence, according to XXXX, customer service agent. She told me she will put the note, saying the key fob has been left in the room and told me she has processed the provisional credit again and I would see it in my account, but it has not happened as of today.
Ive contacted them again on XX/XX/XXXX and talked to the customer agent, XXXX, but she just said there is nothing they can do and I have to contact XXXX XXXX XXXX to solve the issues. She also told me that she will open the case again, but I may not see the credit this time ( I haven't heard anything back from the bank as of today, XX/XX/XXXX ).
Huntington does not have dedicated number to fraud and dispute department and they do not let customers talk to them directly. I have expressed my concern that if was able to resolve the issue with the merchant, I would not seeking assistance from Huntington Bank. I asked them it is not reasonable for a merchant to charge me for anything they can not provide the proof of the charge. I also told her that there are several complaints on some travel booking sites ( XXXX, XXXX etc. ) about being charged extra fees and they are not responding to their guests.
I am requesting that the error be corrected. I should not be responsible for the charge after following the check out instruction from the XXXX XXXX XXXX and something they have no evidence that I didnt leave the keys in the room.
Enclosed are copies of bank letters supporting my position and experience. Please kindly assist my case, so that Huntington Bank can correct the debiting error promptly.

Complaint: I am a victim of Identity Theft. Recently, some company deposited 2 wire transfer checks into my checking account. I did not authorize or know anything about them. My financial institution closed my accounts and refused to let me open new accounts. This happened on or around XX/XX/2018. I do not know the exact amounts of the wire transfers. Perhaps around {$900.00} or so each time. I called my local police and spoke with an officer, explained I was a victim of Identity Theft. I have a Police report. My direct deposits to these accounts were denied as the bank closed my accounts and denied me new ones. This was no fault of mine! I was treated like the criminal by the Bank, instead of the other way around. Especially by the Personal Banker at my branch.
I have been an Identity Theft victim for over 1 year. I am losing everything I own and my credit is atrocious because of this. No one will help me!

Complaint: I had switched banks about a month prior, and when I went to go close the account or the day before I was going to close the account I received emails that I didnt have enough funds to cover whatever had tried to post, And I am mediately called the bank up to see what was going on and it turns out to credit card companies even though I change the auto pay on my account with them with the new banking information they somehow managed to still try and take it from the old accounts but thats another story.
So I contacted Huntington, I went through this whole story and theyre only willing to waive a couple of the fees which I call XXXX because I just want to close the XXXX account I have no problems paying what is owed on anything that they paid but I want the fees back this is ridiculous I didnt maliciously intend to do this, in which is a big load of XXXX on top of with their so-called 24 hour grace they didnt even give me a chance to do that, And I have repeatedly change the information with all creditors make sure none of this happens and now theyre trying to say that something tried to post again they charge me three more overdraft fees they agreed that they would refund some fees if I paid what was owed on what tried to post but now theyre trying to XXXX me by adding more fees and I will give them whatever they paid out Im not giving them like {$300.00} in overdraft fees they can go pound salt because thats ridiculous

Complaint: My issue both on the personal and business accounts with Huntington Bank XXXX XXXX, OH that they for mths have been with drawling " fees '' from my accounts with no supporting documentation and in excess of the original agreed to amounts. I have been told for mths they would get me answers only to hear excuse after excuse. They to date have shown nothing in writing both prior, after or upon my multiple requests for why this is happening. I have communicated both with my local " mgr '' and their headquarters in XXXX. I am not sure where to go from here, but these fees are in excess of several hundred at this point and while I will be looking to move my accts to another bank, this is simply wrong to not be able to document the charges ... again prior to or after ... but especially after being asked. Month after month of written requests to Huntington. I am hopeful that a complaint filed may get their attention or care.

Complaint: I have an equity line of credit with Huntington bank. This line of credit originated with first merit bank and was transferred to this bank during the buy out. I currently have a balance of approximately {$34000.00}. The ten year draw period has ended. I have never been late on the minimum payments of this loan. When I realized that the draw period was ending, I went into a local branch and asked for information about this being converted into a fixed rate loan. When I took this out with the original bank, this is what I was told would happen. When I went to the bank, an application was taken, however nobody ever contacted me with a response. I then received a notice in the mail that they are demanding the full balance all at once of over {$34000.00}. I am older now and I do not drive and can not hear well on the phone. Numerous times my family members have taken me to the bank and we are constantly turned away. We are told that there is not an employee in the office that can help us and that they will contact me later. I explain I have a hard time hearing on the phone, but I am told that is my only option other than finding someone to drive me back up and hoping that the employee will then be there when I go back. Eventually I was able to get ahold of the branch and I was told that because I have a very slim credit history that Huntington will not work with me until I pay off a past due XXXX credit card balance. More than once I have asked for them to give me a confident yes that if I try to take care of the discover past due balance, that they will for sure give me it as a loan. Now I am being told that they should have never made the promise with me that if I pay off discover they will help me.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2017 two transactions were made around XXXX with our Huntington Bank Credit Card. We called the next day to attest these obviously fraudulent charges made within minutes of each other - one to a company called " XXXX '' for {$540.00} in the XXXX and the other to a company called XXXX ( a music mixing software company ) out of Minnesota. The charges were reversed and investigations opened. On XX/XX/XXXX, the charge made to XXXX for XXXX was put back on our credit card. When I called to inquire why we were being charged for this obviously fraudulent transaction, I was told that Huntington Bank had closed the investigation. When they reached out to XXXX, they were able to confirm that the purchasing address and shipping address matched what they had on file for our card. Which means that someone stole our cc information, as well as our address. When I explained to Huntington that this purchase was for online software, based on their website, and that no shipping address would ever be needed for this purchase they declined to pursue further, stating that I needed to follow up with XXXX to get our money back. I have had no response from this company. I have made several calls to Huntington, their fraud department, our local branches - no one is willing to assist with a fraudulent charge or investigate it further when they have already proven that another fraudulent charge went through on the same night only minutes prior.

Complaint: RecentlyXX/XX/XXXX evening, I visited Huntington Bank branch ( at XXXX XXXX - XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX OH XXXX ) to downgrade our existing Money Market Account to normal Savings Account, The request was very simple, just to change existing account type and no other changes.
On counter employee was not well experienced on servicing accounts ( but she was trying her best ) and her one simple mistake has placed us in miserable situations ....
To switch account type from Money market account to saving accounts, she opened new savings account, transferred fund from existing to new account and in deposit entry ticket, she marked new account deposit transaction as " Cash '', and due to, system raised CTR without any genuine reason. Upon servicing account, while bank employee originated internal account to account service transfer, did not involved even {$1.00} cash deposit, how can your system raise CTR without performing system verification???????? Once CTR was raised, she did not know, how to get out of unexpected CTR or to suppress false alert.
Due to your employee 's mistake for inappropriately handling transaction entry, we have been suffering. You have responsibility to serve and handle your financial obligations efficiently, not by developing incorrect system, where customers suffers for your mistakes.
Due to this miserable experience, on XX/XX/XXXX Friday, I visited Huntington Bank ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX OH XXXX ) and spoke with banker, asking to close my new savings account, which has created all unexpected issues. Since there was a pending online transaction on the account, banker mentioned that, he will put ticket in the system to close account on Monday, and he specifically mentioned that, I will NOT have to come to the Branch again, he was helpful.
After visiting branch, 6 days passed but since my requested account has not closed yet ( byXX/XX/XXXX ), I called the branch and spoke with same gentleman again, and he mentioned that, there is XXXX cent Interest on the account, which needs to deposit to another account, and due to that, I will have to come to Branch AGAIN.. Just to simply close one incorrectly opened account, how many time Huntington Bank would ask customer to visit bank?????
So question comes is : Is this how customer service you provide to Huntington Bank Customers? Hassles over Hassles, one after another?

Huntington Bank DO NOT provide facility to submit written service request after logging in to online bank account, which makes additional inconvenience for consumers to write to bank for the service or may be a way to suppress customer complain?
CFPB should investigate these type of complains and hassle customer experiences, and must implement framework, which imposing regulations on banks to minimize burden on consumers to get simple service on account.
If account can be open online, then why can not Huntington Bank allow customer to close account online?

Complaint: Huntington charged me a " return item fee '' for my XXXX XXXX payment this past month. The money should have been there but it was not because the returns that I have done were not processed in time even though the merchants had given me shorter timelines than they ascribed to.
Furthermore, Huntington has consistently allowed me a grace period of one day to pay my XXXX XXXX payment. Somehow, they decided not to do that this month.
