Company closed your account
Complaint: After 13 years of card membership and no significant issues, and without warning, Discover Card chose to close my account on XX/XX/2018, exactly 1 month after increasing my credit line by 40 % ( from {$1500.00} to {$2100.00} ) on XX/XX/2018 -- following a review where they stated : 1. " Congratulations! Due to your overall excellent credit management, we've increased your credit line to {$2100.00}, of which {$1200.00} is available as cash. Your new credit line is now active to give you more purchasing power and flexibility when you need it. '' 2. Why did I receive a credit line increase? " To recognize the responsible credit management you have demonstrated over the years, we have increased your credit line. '' 3. Did Discover pull my credit report to make this decision? " Discover receives a copy of your credit report each month for maintenance using soft inquiries, meaning there is no impact to your credit. This information was used in making the decision to increase your credit line. '' Nothing changed on my credit profile or report, the account was in good standing, paid on time with had no recent late payments, and had a balance of {$0.00}. My credit score remains " good. '' Either their processes and procedures are inconsistent, undefined, or they are completely incompetent.

Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 An attempt to increase my credit with Discover was made. The decision was denied due to " insufficient credit history. '' Twice since the account has been opened, increases previously we're made to the account. This is a violation of the ECOA ( Equal Credit Opportunity Act ) under FDIC Compliance section IV 1.1 " a lender may not refuse to extend credit or use different standards in determining whether to extend credit. '' This is far from definition to be fair lending practices set forth by the FDIC. My credit report is far better then previously when the small increases to the account we're made. Which leads me to believe that I am a victim of financial discrimination. As a consumer I would like Discover to be fair in they're practices and adhere to the regulations set forth by the FDIC. This is unjust and illegal. Please investigate.

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: I purchase a set of custom kitchen cabinet. The cabinet came and local installer associated with the company came and installed them. After 4month of using them. The wood started to swell. I tried to contact the merchant. At first, they said they will come and replace them ; then they stopped responding to my text or calls. Therefore, I initiated a dispute through Discover card that I used to charge for the cabinets initially. Hope that Discover Card will give back my justice. However, Discover Card decided not to issue a permanent credit on my account because they can't contact the merchant.
On their website, under dispute FAQ, it states clearly in one of the question : If the Merchant doesn't respond to your notification, what happens?
The answer for that is : We issue a credit to your account.
Therefore, I demand Discover Card honor their own statement to issue me the permanent credit to my account.
My dispute file and Discover Card policy will be attached.

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: I requested that Discover Card remove my husband from my account, as I am the only responsible party. I am trying to get myself out of debt, and I can only do that by negotiating with all of my creditors across the board. I respectfully request that Discover Card accept a one-time settlement of {$4000.00} of which I will borrow from a relative to resolve my debt in full. I have submitted this request through the CFPB to guarantee that my rights are protected under FDCPA.

Don't agree with the fees charged
Complaint: I currently have a loan with Discover Student loans. My initial loan amount was issued at {$43000.00}. I have been actively paying my loan for the past 12+ years. My interest rate is currently at 9.75 %. To date I have paid a total of {$51000.00} ( {$4900.00} principal, {$46000.00} interest ) and the loan balance remains at {$39000.00}. I have requested a decrease in the interest rate on 5 separate occasions in the past year with no support from Discover Student Loans. They will not agree to a decrease in the interest rate but recommend a decreased payment ( which ultimately covers less than interest ).

Company closed your account
Complaint: Just a few weeks ago, Discover reviewed my Account, and my excellent credit and payment history, and increased my credit limit by {$300.00} to a total of {$2800.00}. I have a XXXX balance. On XX/XX/XXXX, I was told they had done another review, just a few weeks later, and found I had started a new unsecured loan, which was not true, and I had a new negative item, a medical bill. The medical bill was paid but the credit bureaus are slow to remove it. They ignored my excellent credit score and payment history, and the fact that they had given me an increase on my credit limit just a few weeks ago. This is the first time in 35 years of having credit cards that I have seen a company mis-treat their customers this way. They should be investigated.

Charged too much interest
Complaint: My discover card is charging me interest at a point that is unaffordable.
Id life to pay the card off to get rid of it, and have tried, but no matter how large a payment I make, the interest they charge is sickening.
Ive been with them since 2008. Ive always paid on time. I am now down to minimum payments because I cant afford their interest. I complained to them and they told me too bad to put it simply. This company is horrible. I refuse to make lump payments as its mostly interest. I cant afford the pay off amount yet of just under {$9000.00}. This is just wrong as Ive been with them for so long and have since then cut my card to shreds.
I cant pay off half the amount unless in want to pay {$7000.00} due to interest and then another {$7000.00} to pay the card off.
This company is a scam. Id never have signed up for this had I known they were such liars and crooks.

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I scheduled a one time payment that would bring my account current. Days before that payment was due I received an email from the company stating that they were taking an amount which was not the amount that we agreed on so I emailed back saying do not take any payment from my account because that is not what we agreed on. Yet days later I found out that they took it anyway. When I notified my bank they fixed it and removed any overdraft fees. Now in XX/XX/XXXX I received a message from discover saying that they received my payment and they were thanking me. I immediately called them because I had never scheduled a payment with them. When I called the rep stated that they had signed me up for automatic payments and i let her know that I did not authorize that and due to me losing my job and being homeless I would not do that. She apologized and stated that she would cancel it I let her know that this was going to put my bank account in the negative and I didnt want that she said that there was nothing that she could do. I went into my bank and let them know that a transaction was probably going to come through that I did not authorize and they stated that they would keep an eye out for it. Well after days had passed I got an alert from my bank saying that my account was in the negative and I immediately knew why. I reached back out to my bank and she tried to file a claim but since it was rejected she said that she could not and that the credit card company would have to fix it which they refuse to do. I have spoken with them several times and I am getting nowhere. This all began with setting up a one time payment and discover taking it upon themselves to sign me up for autopay and now they will not fix this. After filing this claim I will be reaching out to any and every agency that I can to complain. I was even advised to reach out to them about a hardship program that they have for people that have fallen on hard times and they said that they dont have anything that can help my situation.

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: I am asking for clarification on the Fair Credit Billing Act and why Discover believes it is immune from this law.
Per Section 161 ( 3 ) ( B ), the creditor shall complete a dispute request no later than " two complete billing cycles. '' I filed two disputes for charges related to non-received merchandise on XX/XX/18. Since then, two full billing cycles have passed, but there is no resolution on the matter.
Discover 's current/most recent " Bill of Rights '' does not address the " two billing cycles '' mandate in regards to dispute resolution : https : //www.discover.com/credit-cards/help-center/assets/BillingRights.pdf Per the FTC 's website : https : //www.consumer.ftc.gov/XXXX " Any creditor who fails to follow the settlement procedure may not collect the amount in dispute, or any related finance charges, up to {$50.00}, even if the bill turns out to be correct. For example, if a creditor acknowledges your complaint in 45 days 15 days too late or takes more than two billing cycles to resolve a dispute, the penalty applies.

Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Complaint: I have disputed discover card for years. Fraudulent charges were applied to this account when card was stolen over 5 years ago. I always paid my account on time until I became aware of the fraudulent charges. I'm very dissapointed that Discover continues to report this negative charge off simply because I refuse to continue paying on a a card with charges I don't owe. I disputed with the credit bureaus and sent my FTC identity theft report ' The account status should be closed due to card being stolen or lost and the charges after the theft should be removed from my liability. I'm disputing this account as fraud and while it is being disputed internally this account should be temporarily blocked from my file until Discover makes the necessary adjustments/corrections.

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: XXXX XXXX refuses to delete 2 late payments which I dont understand how it is late when it was an automatic payment..This is on My credit as well as my Fiamce which has caused higher interest rates. Also Discover has a late pay listed and it was on auto pay as well. These are the only deragotory items we have out of 25 to 30 accounts in very good standing. I have tried to dispute this but they refuse to delete even on Good faith and Goodwill letter. I am disputing because it should have been deducted and I have never missed a payment the payment was taken but instead of deducting XXXX they only deducted XXXX because it was set up for fixed amt and 1 month it was more than fixed amt and they c hgv argued a late fee but also waived the fee. I would like this deleted because We have Good Credit and this is erroneous misleading information.
