Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: In XX/XX/2018 I received a XXXX XXXX procedure, XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX CA XXXX. They stated the product would last a minimum of 6 months to one year. I paid them XXXX dollars for the procedure and it left me with XXXX on my XXXX and the product dissolved within 2 weeks. I have a copy of an email I sent them on XX/XX/XXXX stating that I wasn't happy with the procedure. They invited me back into the office and stated that they did everything according to the protocol but couldn't refund me. I explained that Had I have known the product would only last 2 weeks and at a cost of XXXX dollars I wouldn't have had XXXX in my XXXX. This is false and misleading advertisement.
So I issued a complaint with my credit card company and my credit card company Discover card XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, stated I did not have enough proof!
I sent them copies of correspondence between myself and XXXX company and the fact they stated on their website the product would last 6 months to 1 year.
Discover card despite me having an absolute impeccable payment history with them, do not want to resolve this for me, as they state I need more proof before they can refund me. I suggested I show them how my procedure looked before, then immediately after, then 2 weeks after the final result and Discover card, said that wouldn't be enough proof! so I am supposed to endure false and misleading advertisement from a company offering procedures they say last longer than they really do and fall victim of small print from Discover credit card.

Other problem
Complaint: I have had a secured Discover credit card for 13 months. Despite promises to review the account after 7 months to transition to an unsecured card, my card remains secured. I have had no late payments, no high balances, no red flags anywhere. I have checked my credit report and there are no derogatory items over the last year. According to the information provided by the companys agents and website, I have met all of their criteria to obtain an unsecured card. Discovers agents tell me the process is automated, and no human can intervene. Of course this makes no sense. The company is not run by computers, it is run by humans who have a responsibility to investigate when a problem is identified. I believe Discover is running a scam by holding on to card holders security deposits for longer than is promised, thereby creating revenue for the company with funds from people recovering from financial hardship.

Fees charged for closing account
Complaint: RE : Previous complaint No. XXXX - **** Inadequately disclosed outrageous early withdrawal Penalty. **** I finally did receive a copy of the " Deposit Account Agreement '' which I requested from Discover Bank with 3 or 4 phone attempts starting well over a month ago. Thank you. While this agreement does show the early withdrawal penalty for my 10 year CD being the outrageous 24 months of simple interest I was not well informed of this penalty being the 24 months instead of the 7 months penalty of my previous 2 CDs with Discover Bank. It is claimed by Discover Bank that this online application was electronically signed which I do not remember but would not have agreed to the 24 month penalty if it was made apparent to me. It had to be concealed in " fine print '' somewhere - I now understand why - who would open a CD with a 24 months penalty for early withdrawal.
I want to be refunded 17 months of simple interest.

Application denied
Complaint: Hi thank you for your time. I applied for Discover it Student card on XX/XX/XXXX. When I was applying for it, Discover it never listed what kind of the address proof documents they accept. The result is, after my application, I was asked to provide immediately the proof of address I don't have. They only accept limited kind of documents and I don't have all of them. I have contacted them to discuss whether they accept other official government-accepted address proof, but I was rejected chillily. Also, I discussed with them whether they can extend my application, so I can apply for the exact document they required. But I was rejected again, chillily. They said they will decline my application unless I provide my address proof right now. And I was told that my credit points was already affected, because after my application, they pull my credit report immediately. They really should list what kind of documents they accept before the application. I lost my credit points for nothing.

Complaint: I ordered a security system for my husband for a XXXX present but I changed my mind and sent the unopened package back. I refused delivery. I have the shipment document that they received the shipment back but they are still trying to charge me for it. Discover started to automatic debit my checking account without my permission to get this payment. I have spent hours on the phone with Discover trying to resolve this. I wanted to send the documentation that it was sent back with registered mail but all they have is a P O box for disputes. I tried to file the dispute on my online account but I have not used it in so long it was on a old phone number so I couldn't get the security code. I have sent them documentation from XXXX through the mail 4 times. I still can't get this resolved. The purchase was made through XXXX.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: This is a follow up complaint to complaint # XXXX. Discover Student Loans lied to the CFPB. It did not resolve any issues and it continues to report my account as delinquent. I spoke to XXXX XXXX XXXX following my initial complaint because I continued to receive harassing phone calls. He assured me the problem would be addressed, although he could not give me a specific time frame for when my account status could be fixed. In the meantime, he took me off the call list. Well, XXXX. XXXX simply removing me from a call list is only a bandaid. It does not address the root of the problem. Furthermore, I've had this problem with Discover Student Loans for more than 10 months now. Time was up a long time ago and we are coming to a point where I have no choice but to take legal action. There is no clear reason why it would take nearly a year to remedy my account as being recorded as past due. I still continue to receive delinquency letters and false reports to the credit bureaus. I strongly urge the CFPB to conduct an investigation into and take action against Discover Student Loans. It is very clear the company is not capable of honest self reporting or policing.
As a refresher, here is my prior complaint : I have been going back and forth with Discover Student Loans for seven months and it's exhausting. I originally applied for its hardship assistance program in XX/XX/XXXX. Despite showing I had no income at the time, I was denied. I immediately re-applied with additional documents and was notified I would receive a decision within 10 business days. That time frame past and I'd still not received a response. When I called in XX/XX/XXXX, roughly 30 days after submitting my second application, a support rep initially told me they were still waiting for me to submit paperwork. This couldn't have been further from the truth, and after insisting she check, she verified I had submitted everything required, well within the timeline required. This representative put me on hold while conferring with her " back office team '' and after more than an hour on the phone together, told me I was immediately approved for the hardship program and my account would be updated to reflect as such, as well as being current on payments. I still continued to receive daily calls and letters than my account was past due for the original payment amount, despite making consistent payments of {$50.00} per the program guideline. I spoke to numerous representatives at least weekly to try to resolve the issue. I was told Discover was merging its system with XXXX XXXX, it's previous processor, and that was the root of the issue. The merger was complete at the end of XX/XX/XXXX and yet this problem has yet to be resolved. One particular representative assured me they would correct my account erroneously being reported 60 days past due and that shed also make a note for the reporting department to stop the report for 90 days past due, as I had been making timely $ XXXX/month payments per the program. Neither of those things happened, and my and my co-signer 's credit were negatively impact. It took another month of phone calls and talking to countless reps and supervisors to finally have that resolved and to receive a letter confirming the correction. When I finally received a letter confirming my enrollment in the program, my monthly payment went up by {$14.00} from the original {$170.00}. I didn't understand how this was possible, as it completely defeats the purpose of a hardship program. I called and was yet again informed it was a system error but they would send it to the person who handles these things and was assured this would be fixed. It still has not, and to this day I've still not received any sort of documentation confirming my enrollment and reduced payment of {$50.00} through XX/XX/XXXX. I've repeatedly asked to speak to the back office team that handles the program but am never allowed- they apparently do not accept calls from their borrowers. I repeatedly ask when the " system error '' will be fixed and am told " up to 30 days. '' 30 days has come and gone 180 days ago. No one will tell me what the error is or why if I am approved for the program and it's reflected in Discover 's notes it's not officially being reflected on my account. I initially spoke to a supervisor named XXXX ( ID XXXX ) roughly 3 weeks ago. While he could not give me a definitive resolution, he told me to only speak to him about the matter going forward. He advised that he would have to do some research and would call me back a week later. Unsurprisingly, he never did as that has been the trend with all customer service reps and supervisors at Discover. When I called him 10 days after our initial conversation, he essentially passed the buck to someone else, saying she, not he, would be able to handle my case. No resolution was achieved. I called to speak to XXXX ( ID XXXX ) XX/XX/XXXX but was told she's in a meeting and could call me back that day. She never did. When I called on XX/XX/XXXX I asked to speak to a supervisors superior, as so far everyone at his level has been unable to assist me. Initially, he refused, telling me the only person that could handle my case is XXXX and I could not speak to anyone else. I insisted on speaking to higher management, to which he then informed me his boss was " in a meeting '' but could call me back. I asked who it was and for her ID, his initial response was " we don't have that information. '' I found this very hard to believe since I had names and IDs of his other colleagues and that information was willingly provided to me. He finally told me it was XXXX ( XXXX ). I never received a call from her. I've never been allowed to speak to any management besides immediate supervisors of the support reps who take initial calls. However, XXXX finally called me on XX/XX/XXXX and assured me she was working hard and reaching out to headquarters to resolve the issue with my account- in fact she was going to talk to them daily. It's now 10 days later, I've not heard from her or received any correspondence/letter that the issue has been fixed. I still continue to receive calls and letters that my account is past due. I'm once again at risk of having an erroneous report on my credit, which is detrimental to me as a small business owner and my ability to secure a new apartment in the coming months. Frankly, I do not believe this is a system error at this point. This is more of a systemic bullying tactic to wear borrowers down and force them to give in and pay. I have zero trust in this company from the severe mismanagement and lack of transparency. It makes me absolutely sick to think I'm chained to it until my loans are repaid.

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: I opened a Discover card on XXXX XXXX was SECURED with a XXXX deposit. I closed my account XX/XX/2018 due to overpayment and not receiving my security deposit. A credit balance payment of XXXX was sent to me, so at thay point I had a XXXX balancr5.However no credit was availa ble. I then requested my check be returned to me.Only XXXX dollars was released and i charged XXXX Which I sent Discover a money ORDER which was sent to XXXX XXXX in the executive office as he was supposed to be handling my account. My XXXX check has never been sent back, instead they held it for 10 days applied it to my XXXX balance account chevk was never paid by my bank. Now requesting a copy of my PAYMENT which will continue to delay the XXXX refund that I am owed.Thiz is BEYOND ridiculous that after 2 months and 20 emails to XXXX XXXX at the executive office and this is still not been resolved

Complaint: I opened my mail on Wednesday, XX/XX/XXXX. I was sent a letter from Discover saying I was pre-approved for a loan for debt consolidation. I went to XXXX and filled out the form. I was then directed to call XXXX to speak to a representative to verify some information. I called the number, as directed, and it states it is the discover personal loans department. I was on the phone with a lady who asked questions to confirm my identity - Name, date of birth, phone number, current address and social security number. I gave all of the needed information. She then asked why I wanted to consolidate my debt and what accounts I wanted to transfer the funds to. She then explained that I was approved and informed me that they are able to transfer the funds to the accounts I wanted. She was very persistent with that being the best option. I said that I wanted to have it deposited into my checking account and that I would distribute it as necessary. She then told me I was not approved and that they would send me a letter in the mail explaining why. I thought it was very odd since I was already pre-approved and she said I was approved initially. I was frustrated but thought nothing of it. Friday, XX/XX/XXXX, Discover e-mailed me about getting started on my Personal Load. I was confused that I received an e-mail from them when I had previously filled out the SAME form and was told to call and then denied. I chose the option to chat with a representative. I explained the situation and the kind lady began looking for my application. She verified who I was and informed me that she found no records of me applying. She asked me what number I called and then told me that it was not a valid Discover number. At that point I googled the number XXXX and saw that someone noted it was a scam number.

Complaint: I have spoken to discover card, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX multiple times last year in XX/XX/2017 and this year. They stated that they would fix the issue and delete the discover credit card off of my credit report permanently, which never happened. It keeps getting reinserted by discover credit card because they keep reinserting it with a different credit card number. They used two different credit card numbers so far. I had my wallet stolen from my vehicle and multiple people used my identity, which resulted in a fraudulent Discover credit card 's to be open without my consent. I have been dealing with this for over a year. I am very tired of discover doing this to me and the credit bureau 's. I want to get this resolved and off my credit report permanently like XXXX told me they would when I first complained last year in XX/XX/2017.
