Complaint: Hi, During the months XXXX, XXXX and XX/XX/2015, I experienced severe financial hardship and was unable to pay my credit card. I had been paying on time as seen in the attachment from my credit report. I was using this secured credit card to build my credit. When I had the opportunity of making a payment it was too late for Capital One as they canceled my credit card and applied the security deposit to cover what I owed them at the time.
I have since opened another secured credit card with XXXX and they returned me the deposit after some months as I was paying on time. I hadn't missed a single payment on my credit report before the three missed payments with Capital One and I haven't missed a payment since then as well. I am writing this complaint because I have become a responsible individual but these missed payments affect my credit score still in a significant way. I have made several complaints for them to help me with dropping those from my credit report but have always received a negative response, that is why I'm looking for help with CFPB.

Complaint: We had an XXXX XXXX card that was paid off in XXXX or XXXX, we lost paperwork in Hurricane Harvey last year. Anyway, this is the second paid off XXXX card from 8+ years ago that has been sold to some outside collection company, without any written notice. We do not owe this and we are upset that XXXX continues to try and sell off our old paid off debt, and furthermore beyond the statute of limitations. Our credit is clean, clear and good and we are in good standing with ALL of our creditors. Please stop them. thank you.

Complaint: On XX/XX/18, I opened a Capital One Money Market Savings account that had a bonus offer of XXXX after depositing a total of XXXX by XXXX XXXX. I made 4 seperate deposits of : XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, by XXXX XXXX. The terms stated that the bonus would be posted by 60 days after the XXXX total had been met, and the bonus still has not been posted. When i contacted capital one, I was told the the XXXX had to be deposited at one time, which is not stated at all in the terms.

Problem using a debit or ATM card
Complaint: My XXXX debit card was taken by the ATM at the Capital One, NA branch located at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, Maryland XXXX on the evening of XX/XX/2018. Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: Issues : 1. Fraudulent equipment/Fraudulent warranty sold by XXXX/XXXX using XXXX XXXX as XXXX XXXX XXXX.
2. Bad faith treatment by Capital one in handling of Fraud charge.
TIMELINE : XX/XX/2018 Purchased 2 XXXX XXXX computer servers from XXXX for {$3100.00}.
Paid an extra {$200.00} itemized XXXX processing fee for the fraud protection the credit card afforded me. Received no invoice or receipt from Merchant, they gave me a tracking number via the website.
XX/XX/2018 - Received 2 - unmarked servers with no visual markings that they were what I had ordered. ( see photo XXXX. ) They worked at the time so I didnt make an issue of it.
XX/XX/2018 - Machines shut down suddenly. After rebooting them, they overheat ( 100+ Celsius ), which is dangerous, previously they ran around 80 Celsius. I contacted XXXX/XXXX and received no response.
XX/XX/2018 - Tried reaching XXXX/XXXX to no success. Upon closer inspection of the units it is discovered that the processing chips are actually old Bitmain ( a competitors ) XXXX cards. So the units that we bought not only dont work, they were stolen from a competitor and purported to be original.
XX/XX/2018 - Finally received word back from XXXX/XXXX. They claim that they have no record of a purchase by me and therefore will not honor the warranty. Furthermore they claim that they never accepted credit cards. Since they were clearly misrepresenting themselves with my purchase and a trail of Credit Card details on their XXXX page, I filed a dispute with Capital One.
XXXX - Capital one begins dispute process and removes charge from card.
XX/XX/2018 - Capital one denies charge, fails to acknowledge fraud claim and misrepresentation by the merchant, supplies an illegible processing form from XXXX. They also claim that they spoke to the merchant, which they in fact did not. They only spoke to the intermediary bank. They ask for follow up documentation which I provide.
XX/XX/2018 - Capital one denies the claim, doesnt acknowledge fraud and misleading representation by the merchant. They ignore the black and white fraud that the merchant is committing.
At this point Capital One is acting in bad faith. They havent contacted the merchant, yet have said that they have done so, but in black in white there is no response from the merchant, only the banking intermediary.
XX/XX/2018 - I submitted the case to the CFPB in hopes that they can get this issue resolved.

Complaint: Capital One has three or four hard inquiries on my credit report that shouldnt be on my reports. Ive never applied for a credit card. Im a victim of identity theft and just recently, someone tried to obtain XXXX more cards from XXXX different credit card companies. I would appreciate if Capital One would remove these inquiries immediately. My son has the same name as I do. Im not accusing him of any wrong doing but its something to consider.

Problem with personal statement of dispute
Complaint: The company still shows a string of delinquent payments. Still shows a balance of {$510.00} owed on the card. Capital One needs to show the account with no payment issues and no balance due.
I still have not received the information regarding the previous action.
This has been a 3-year ordeal and they have made multiple promises to address this, they simply don't.
I expect the account to be either closed or open with a non-negative record. I still don't have the correct information with regard to the XXXX issue where their people were on the call with me while dealing with XXXX.

Complaint: I received numerous documents in the mail from Capital One Bank telling me that I was prequalified to receive a new credit card from them ... They included a preference code as well as Security code to use online or when I called them in person to get accepted for this credit card ... I think that was just to bait me into their scheme.. Now get this, I have an XXXX credit score with all 3 credit bureaus and Capital One declined the credit card issuance to me after making me, the applicant go through their online website, and go through their lengthy online credit card application and then tell me that I am not approved with no reason ... They gave me no valid reason for declining me the credit card and now furthermore, I am now getting dinged on my credit reports with the 3 credit bureaus and loosing points on my credit scores with these 3 credit bureaus because off these jokers /misfits /or plain scam artists ( whatever you want to call them ) that they knew they couldnt make any real money off of me, while they say that you can pay up to XXXX % interest rate on the outstanding credit card balances based on the applicants credit worthingness. These type of banks should be penalized, fined, and I should be have my credit score returned to the proper level and score before these jokers got involved ... .. If you dont do anything about these type of business procedures, then you are not doing your job as well and should terminate your operations as well ...

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: In the summer of XX/XX/2016 my car was totaled out due to hail damage. I had financing on the vehicle through Capital One. I still owed several thousand on the loan. Capital One came up with a payoff quote. During the period where I was exempt from making monthly payments, I was in contact many times with Capital One trying to confirm when the full amount of the payoff needed to be made. Each time I talked to one of their reps they gave me a different answer on when it needed to be paid. This led to confusion, obviously. I did not have a clear idea of when the payment needed to be made. It was only the last time I called concerning the payment time frame that the rep I talked to absolutely assured me of the actual due date. I immediately set out to get a loan to cover the payment. My bank sent the check to Capital One. Capital One reported that the check arrived a day late so they dropped my account into a collection/charge off status. It dropped my credit score from XXXX to XXXX. Capital One received the payment and the account was closed and current. But they still proceeded to put that remark on the account. My credit report, showing the details of the payment history on the account showed that I was delinquent starting in XXXX which is false. I have a document from Capital One stating that the payment was indeed due in XXXX, as the final rep had told me, which is when I paid.
In the weeks that followed, I was in contact with Capital One trying to figure out the issue and why the account was in a negative status. The first rep I talked to claimed that the bad remark would leave my credit report after they reported it to the credit buereas. Which was false. The next rep I talked to claimed that the bad remark was to NEVER leave my credit report. Which is also false. I have continually been misled by Capital One and it has affected my credit score and ability to consider purchasing a home, a new car and several other things. I have disputed the bad remark with several credit reporting outlets and directly with Capital One, to no avail. I think the actions of Capital One have been very unprofessional, petty, and vindictive.
