Complaint: I had leased a XX/XX/XXXXHonda Odyssey of which I was involved in a motor vehicle accident 1 year later that rendered the vehicle a total loss. The insurance company paid {$24000.00} of the {$26000.00} owed and after some payments I made, there was a balance inXX/XX/XXXX of {$1100.00}. Payment was requested in 30 days. As of XX/XX/XXXX, I reduced the balance to {$930.00}. The payments were accepted without any rejection or return of payment. Prior to the accident, I was never late nor missed any payments on the lease. <P/>Without any warning, Honda Financial Services sent me two letters dated XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I did not receive them until XX/XX/XXXX. The first letter said my debt was charged off for failing to fulfill my " contractual obligation '' and was being sent to collections. No explanation was provided for what this meant. The second letter, dated XX/XX/XXXX, said I had 15 days to pay the debt. Relying on the second letter, I paid it in full on XX/XX/XXXX and called Honda Financial Services on XX/XX/XXXX to have them remove the charge off from my credit reports. The representative was rude from the start saying they called and told me I had to pay it in full. I never received a call or letter prior to XX/XX/XXXX saying if I did not pay the balance by XX/XX/XXXX I was going into collections. He said they spoke to my wife, but she was never told that if full payment was n't made by XX/XX/XXXX, the debt was being charged off and going into collections. When I tried to explain the reasons for the delay and that I paid it off once I had the ability to do so ( which was also within the 15 days demanded in Honda Financial 's letter ) the representative 's response was " not my problem ''. He refused to remove the charge off and said I could not speak with a supervisor. The representative also denied having any information of Honda Finance sending me the XX/XX/XXXX letter that gave me 15 days to pay off the balance. I faxed it over to him but of course got no response. <P/>Based on their fraudulent and misleading representations my credit score was lowered 90 points. I was never advised that if I did not pay off the entire balance in 30 days that my account would be charged off or sent to collections. I never receive a final letter until after the debt was already charged off. I also paid off the balance within the time specified in Honda Financial 's letter and its response to me was essentially " we do n't care '' and " not my problem ''.

Complaint: In XXXX, I purchased a XXXX XXXX XXXX minivan and financed the purchase through Honda Financial Services. Since XXXX, I have made every monthly payment on time. In XXXX XXXX, my bank stopped payment due to an unknown issue. Honda Financial Services did not call me or send me mail until XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I received that document on XXXX XXXX and immediately called HFS to resolve the situation. I spoke with XXXX, the manager in the XXXX call center. We called my bank, XXXX XXXX, to attempt to resolve the situation. XXXX agreed to pay the late fees to HFS to atone for the error. I immediately repaid the past due amount. However, XXXX refused to remove the past due report on my credit report for XXXX. I have researched this and know that it is in XXXX and HFS ' discretion to remove these from a consumer 's credit report, yet in this case HFS was completely unwilling to assist. I am about to apply for credit to purchase a home, and HFS ' report has reduced my credit score to where my interest rate will be higher than it would have been without HFS ' report. I have made every HFS payment on time for over three years now, and the one time that there was an issue, it was not my fault. Yet HFS is publishing defamatory information about me that is causing financial harm. I have called XXXX a second time to ask for help, but she has not answered my calls or returned my calls. I need help in fixing this abuse by Honda Financial Services before it costs me thousands more in interest expense.

Complaint: We bought a car from XXXX XXXX , it was an executive driven car with low mileage on the car. After multiple trips back to the dealership to rectify the transmission problems, they continued to say the car did not have any issues and it was fixed. We finally bought a new car from XXXX and they bought us out of the XXXX . We went back to XXXX XXXX to get the money back from the Gap insurance that we purchased. We filled out the paperwork and were to ld 2 weeks to process and 4 week s to get the money back in the mail. This was back in XXXX where we went in person to cancel. We have since called back multiple times as well as visiting the location in which they have assured us it would be completed and we would get phones call back.

Complaint: I have a car loa n with Honda Financial. I 'm almost at the end of my loan. I recently received a printout of my payments and extra fees. I was horrified to see all of the LATE CHARGES Honda has charged me. I explain what they failed to do below. At the XXXX XXXX 2016, I started paying an extra " LATE CHARGES '' fee. I asked Honda Financial at least 3 times to change the date of my payment to coincide with my social security check that is deposited in my account on the third Wednesday of the month. Because every month they were adding a late charge on my balance, because on the date they wanted payment, I did not have the funds to make that payment. They said I had to pay {$170.0 0} to get the date changed. I was unable to pay that amount, at that time. As a result hundreds if dollars in LATE CHARGES was added to my balance since then to now. I am a senior with a modest income. I believe Honda did not change the date of my payment so t hat they could collect extra money in the form of LATE CHARGES, thereby profiting from my inability to pay {$170.00} to get my payment date changed. I would like those LATE CHARGES to go away. It 's predatory and grossly unfair.

I was fully insured plus had GAP to cover any difference. <P/> At the time the car was declared a total loss, I was approximately 30 days late with the monthly payment. On XXXX XXXX 2017, Honda Financial received {$19000.00} directly from the insurance company. Although they received this payment, they continued to consider my account late. This is a payment that I had to authorize to go directly to Honda Financial. <P/> On XXXX XXXX 2017, Honda Financial received {$6800.00} from GAP ; however, they still refuse to make my account current and on XX/XX/XXXX ass essed a {$10.00} late fee. <P/> Honda Financial is due one more payment from the car dealership to return the cost of the extended warranties, which I was told should be received by Honda Financial on or before XXXX XXXX 2017. <P/> While I totally accept that I was approximately 30 days late when the car was declared a total loss, I am infuriated that Honda Financial has received over {$25000.00} in payments ; yet refuse to make my account current. They expected m e to continue making monthly payments while having full knowledge that GAP and the warranty reimbursements would cover the total cost of the vehicle, minus my deductible. <P/> Once the first payment from the insurance company was received, my account should have been made current with only the outstanding balance due. <P/> What is even more outrageous is that the GAP and the warranties are Honda products. Therefore, they would have had inside knowledge of the exact amounts being paid on the vehicle. <P/> My account is now beyond 60 days late due to this and will affect my credit. <P/> I want Honda Financi al to bring my account current, plus remove the {$10.00} late pa yment fee that was assessed on XXXX XXXX 2017. How can there be a late payment when over {$25000.00} was received from XXXX XXXX 2017 to XXXX XXXX 2017. <P/> I feel like this is extortion and I would like this resolved as quickly as possible.

Complaint: In XXXX o f 2016, I tu rned in a lease with a Honda dealer. The financing was done through American Honda Financing, and at the end of the lease, I released with Honda. At the time of this transfer, I was told that my two remaining payments on my old lease would be covered and I would not be responsible for this. When I received a bill from Honda Finance with the end of lease balance, these two monthly payments were included on the bill. Instead of paying this, I tried to communicate my concerns with the dealership and with Honda Finance, but to no avail. They kept threatening that this would be reported as significant late payments on my credit, and kept trying to get me on a payment plan. I ended up making a significant payment with them and setting up a payment plan for the rest in the hope I would get it resolved before the next payment. I did not resolve the issue with them ever, as they kept giving me the runaround every time I called. I ended up paying off the balance in a settlement and the account was closed. While this entire process was extremely draining, and I was very frustrated with the process and the outcome, the next issue involves their willingness to make any adjustments on my credit. I went to apply for a home mortgage, and the lender told me these late payments were significantly affecting my credit, as there was multiple occurrences of 30,60,90 days late while I was trying to work this out with Honda. I called Honda to try to resolve the issue and have them work with me on correcting these late payments on my credit report. Because I paid the balance and admitted this debt to b e mine, they would not adjust their report to the credit bureaus, as they took zero responsibility for this situation. Their escalation specialists would not even put me through to a manager, and I had to call the next day and ask someone different to get me to their manager. He called me later that day, and while he asked me to explain what was going on, he became very rude in the end and told me while they did have the ability to adjust this on my credit, he had made his decision and would not be moving forward. There was a complete lack of respect for a borrower who has been with them for 7 years. Credit reports have significant impacts on people 's daily lives, and because they were not willing to relieve the simple late payment history on a one-time occurrence, they are hindering my ability to work on repairing my credit in order to purchase a home. I feel very trapped and taken advantage of.

Complaint: On behalf of my deceased father, XXXX XXXX , a complaint was submitted to CFPB ( case number XXXX ) on XXXX / XXXX / XXXX in regards to a leased XXXX XXXX of which I have not doubt he was taken advantage of when he went to XXXX XXXX alone to lease yet another car ( his third at the same dealership ). XXXX XXXX charged him {$1500.00} even though he was yet again leasing another car. My family members have been leasing cars for years with XXXX , XXXX and XXXX and have never had to submit additional monies when leasing. Honda Financial finally agreed to take the auto back after CFPB contacted them in regards to my complaint that was submitted on XXXX / XXXX / XXXX . I was faxed the instructions in regards to what needed to be done. On XXXX , the car was turned in, no questions asked. Finally justice or so we thought. My brother, who lives at the residence that my parents lived, but he was paying the mortgage, was notified when he attempted to get the house in his name, by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that there was an outstanding balance owed on the vehicle of {$2900.00}. The vehicle was returned 7 months ago and this is the first anyone is hearing about this. Not to mention XXXX XXXX has a number of same exact vehicles ( different colors ) certified pre-owned vehicles on their lot selling for {$23000.00} with at least 5 times the amount of miles then my father 's car. XXXX XXXX is claiming they sold his car for {$17000.00} which I believe if they did, they did it purposely to say they lost money. Not to mention the depreciation of the vehicle that always works in their favor, never the consumer. In reviewing the original lease agreement, the following amounts were also paid : {$1500.00} - lease signing {$350.00} - Turn in fee Why was no one notified until 7 months after the vehicle was returned to the dealership that they now claim a balance is owed? You may think I have waited too long to file, but fear and uncertainty make me doubt I have a chance to win my case. Its like fighting against a big monster because American Honda Finance Corporation have all the money to stop any complaint against them. But on XX/XX/XXXX I received an email let it me that I was part of the people who may receive money thru the American Honda Settlement, so I download the application and after filling it out, I sent the email on XX/XX/XXXX and I received an email letting me know that they received it. Then they send me another email saying that some info was missing and I should sign the deficiency form and send it to them. They said if I was eligible to participate in the settlement, I will receive a packet, and if Im not they will notify me as well. I havent received anything from them. So, I wanted to file a claim and let you know why I deserve to get money back from Honda. On XX/XX/XXXX I purchased my first brand new car. I wanted the XXXX so they gave me a XXXX XXXX. I thought that because it was my first time I didnt have many option, like choosing color, but I just was so excited with the idea of getting a new car. I traded in my XXXX XXXX XXXX and gave {$3500.00} cash down payment. They gave an APR of 5.90 for 60 months. My credit wasnt the best at that moment, but I truly believe that I was paying too much in APR. A year after I was checking the Honda website and I compared the XXXX XXXX XXXX, filling the info with what I gave before my payments, I should have been paying less than that. I called them and they let me know that I should get a better deal. I went to the dealer and I told the sales person that it was unfair I had given {$3500.00} as a down-payment and traded in my XXXX XXXX and still have to pay {$480.00} monthly. At least I should have the chance to choose the color of the car. The sales person told me that they will give me a XXXX XXXX and I will get the color that I want to choose. But the first think that I told the sales person was that I didnt want to get into a lease ; I wanted to own my car so I wanted to get finance like the first time. So on XX/XX/XXXX I purchase the car and the APR was 5.89 my monthly payment was {$480.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a call from Honda letting me know that I only have couple payments left and my three options are : Return the car, pay the car in full or get a new car. I didnt understand what he was talking about. I went to the dealer and they told me that I was under a program lease and that I had to trade in my car and get another one. I asked to have a word with the manager and I ask him to give me an explanation why I was on a lease when I told my sales person that I didnt want to be on a lease. He told me that the sales person did the same to other customers so he got fired but that wasnt going to help me ; so I was pushed to trade in my car and got a XXXX XXXX. My APR was 4.74, my monthly payment was {$590.00}. I was crying because it was so unfair. They treated me so bad!! I lost my job because I hurt my XXXXr and I went to the dealer trying to get a lower payment because I was struggling with my finances. They told me that I could get a smaller car and I would save money. They offered me the XXXX XXXX XXXX, my APR is 6.49 my payments are {$480.00}. But honestly, Im really upset because Ive been paying Honda over {$40000.00} all these years and I should own a car already with that money. I feel that Im never going to finish paying my recent car because I only pay interest. Please help me be part of the American Honda Financial Settlement so I may receive money back and be able to pay off my car. I understand that part of this was my fault for not being more informed about the high interest or about the trade in options. But I was cheated by a sales person and a manager. I have proof of everything that has happened as well as the confirmation emails saying they had received the paperwork of the settlement. Complaint: Hello, I am reaching out to receive assistance in regards to an urgent matter. On XXXX / XXXX / XXXX @ XXXX XXXX . my vehicle was repossessed by Honda Financial Services . I have had a rough patch in regards to payment and have clearly communicated this to Honda at different points in time. The events that led up to my financial woes are as follows : my husband left my child and I after eight years to fend for ourselves ; I was laid-off from my permanent position in downtown XXXX , D.C. ; and I have been working temp positions here and there until I was finally employed by my current employer which just happened on XXXX / XXXX / XXXX . The car being repossessed happened a day before I intended to make payment on the past due balance. I understand they kept calling, but I can not answer the calls at work, since again, this is a new position. Can yo u imagine the hurt of walking outside with my child to take him to school and head to work and my XXXX old tells me " Mommy o ur car is stolen! '' Can you imagine the embarrassment or not being able to show up to work due to my car being repossessed? I need my vehicle in order to get from point A to point B - to take my child to and from school, and for me to get to and from work. This is the first time I have had a repossession. It was ridiculous that when I went to pick up my belongings, they already had an agent the same day, less tha n five hours after picking up my vehicle, going through my belongings and bagging them up. Really-I could no t get an update from Honda Financial Services in reg ards to the repossession until after XXXX , but their repossession agent was able to go through my belongings in less than five hours from the time of the repossession taking place. When I ca lled Honda Financial Services t o get information, I was met with a " be patient, we still have to wait for information from the agent. '' Yet when it came to me making payment and asking for their patience due to my circumstances, I was met with hostility and urgency. I was not ducking or hiding from Honda-they were easily able to find my vehicle outside my apartment building. There was not trying to get over on them. I had ran into hard times, and as soon as I was starting to climb out of those hard times, I am pushed right back into the hole.

Complaint: Delinquent on account due to husband losing job and only my income to support a famil y of 3. Honda fina nce company called references and disclosed information they should n't have. A reference should not know that they are being called in reference to someone 's debt. I had called them later and set up payment arrangement for XXXX , XXXX , and XXXX . When I called to ask them not to call my references, rep advised me that they would continue when they could not get a hold of me. I advised her that if I ask her not to call she should notgoing forward. Instead of listening rep was argumentative the entire time even though I had previously made arrangements and then told me " well you are driving around in a car you are not paying for and we need to know where our car is ''. I asked rep if they had a centralized complaint line so the I could voice my concern but she said no. They are a huge company, very surprised they do not have a department that services complaints or compliments. Everything I said to the rep, she had to counter with something and made me feel like my vehicle with the subtle comments she made. Today XXXX / XXXX / XXXX , I have again received another call from Honda ev en though I have payment arrangements set up on my account for XXXX when I get paid. I have saved the voicemail and am looking in to contacting an attorney as in the voicemail that is also generic and does n't list my name, the rep asked for a callback so I can let her know my intentions with my vehicle. That to me is another subtle hint of reposse ssion from Honda. I h ave had XXXX loans with Honda but after this loan I will not do business with them ever again and will not refer them to anyone either. I feel that they are violating the Fdcpa. Also if listening from just rep end, you would n't have realized that I said up arrangements on my account.
