Complaint: American Express had a promotion for XXXX credit card with XXXX points with first {$3000.00} spending within 3 months, then additional XXXX points with {$2000.00} spending within next 3 months. I have completed spending {$3000.00} around XX/XX/XXXX, and I have never received the points. I tried to communicate with American Express multiple times, but all they say is it usually takes 6-8 weeks or they need more time to investigation. This is after 14 weeks after I have given them time to investigation. I have not heard back nor received the points.

Complaint: American Express sent my account to collections after only being last 20 days on a payment. They did NOT call, email, or send me mail even notifying me I was late. And yes they have all of my info. Also, they claim they ca n't tell me why it was sent to collection, stating the third party is handling the account. The collection company they referred me to could n't tell me either. My statements all show current on my payments, and I in fact just paid this account off. Now it will show collections on my credit report when I did nothing wrong, and AMEX did n't even notify me there was problem. I will be filing a law suit pending the outcome of this.

Complaint: I received from XXXX XXXX a promotional email soliciting a XXXX XXXX XXXX credit card through AMEX. I filled out AMEX 's online app with ALL information EXCEPT my social security number. I entered " random '' numbers for a social and called the AMEX new accounts number telling the agent what I had done. I offered to provide my number over the telephone, but informed them I wo n't put it online. The agent said, " No problem, if we have your name, address, telephone number, and birth date we can get your social. '' Several weeks passed with no correspondence, so I again called AMEX. This time I was told there were verification problems with address, phone number, and social security number and a letter was being sent seeking XXXX and address and phone number verification. As I believed I was lied to by the agent I contacted XXXX XXXX VP Global New Accounts. Her representative XXXX contacted me as to my concern ( logic would answer do n't have your phone number ). I received the XXXX and I complied with that request plus I returned a voided check from my bank with PRINTED address and phone number plus a photo copy of my driver 's license. Now I have received a request for a bank letter head stating my address verified by an official ( logic again : this is the SECOND letter AMEX has mailed to me ) plus a notarized copy of my social security card ( logic again : I have PROOF AMEX ran a credit check on me, how did they do that without a social security number and what did AMEX do with the XXXX I signed? I KNOW what my credit score and rating is and AMEX IS HARASSING ME! I have not received a rejection letter because of " risk '' as my record shows there is none. For whatever reason, I am being HARASSED for information of which AMEX logically has possession! DISCRIMINATION FOR REASONS UNKNOWN

Complaint: American Express is reporting accounts on my credit report. Accounts I never opened with them and never gave them any permission. I have never had or opened ANY AmericanExpress cards in my entire life. These accounts should have never been added to my credit report in any shape or form.
On top of this they are showing many accounts as a duplicate. For example, they are showing one of the cards 4 times in a duplicate fashion.
This is preventing me from getting loans that are very sensitive to number of opened accounts in the last 10 months, and AmericanExpress is showing more than 7!

Complaint: My credit score/report, XXXX/XXXX 2017. delete my AMX data totality. AMX Credit card has been with me for 15 years with a excellent payment record. I called AMX Credit Bureau dept to get it fixed. AMX advised it would be fixed. AMX has done nothing. I wish to lodge a complaint on AMX. I am still with an AMX credit card ... .still with excellent payment record. However, it is no where to be found on my credit report. This should linger on AMX customer service records ( AMX License to do business ) for 7 years, as it would on my report if it was a bad remark.

Debt was already discharged in bankruptcy and is no longer owed
Complaint: Back in XXXX of 2017 I filed a CFPB Complaint on behalf of my daughter who is XXXX and is unable to attend to her own business. The complaint was against American Express for the treatment by a collector who harassed her family and friends while she was in a XXXX trying to collect a pass due amount on her account I was paying the payments on for over a year. The collector made false statements and promises to me, he harassed me for payments even when the account was current, he would call a few days before for the payment. In this complaint I mentioned my personal American Express Account and the problems with a representative who discriminated against me and cancelled the card due to a returned payment on the account, but required me to send in all kinds of financial information anyway under the ruse of re-opening the account, and of course he did not reopen the account and stated that I had more then one account that was past due, referring to me as a card holder on my daughters account. From that previous complaint a senior management assistant phoned me and made an offer to settle my daughters account, he reversed some interest and we agreed upon an amount for pay-off, however when we received the check that was agreed upon it was short by {$250.00} which was another months interest charged because it took them so long to refund the money. I called this person to speak to them about it, however he has never phoned back. The same person discussed my account at the time. I informed him that when I filed a business bankruptcy the trustee wanted me to include personal accounts of which American Express was one. I needed this card for business so I entered into an agreement with American Express to redeem the account and not include it in bankruptcy, As soon as this agreement was made the other collector contacted me because a check payment was returned, I explained that I had theft on my bank and had to close the account, their payment got caught up in the problem, I replaced the payment and he closed the account even though I made an agreement to re-affirm the account in bankruptcy. I think American Express reaffirmed this account only to collect on it, not to leave it as an active account as promised with the reaffirmation agreement. I discussed this with the senior management assistant who called and he said his boss would call me, which never happened, but he called back and said he was trying to get the account re-opened. He called again and said that the only way to open the account is to pay the balance in full. I explained that it was included in bankruptcy and had additional charges accrued since being placed in bankruptcy and that American Express violated a prior agreement. I said I would pay off the account with adjustments to the balance if the card was re-opened as originally agreed upon in the reaffirmation. I asked him to put it in writing because of American Expresses tactics in collections, agreeing to a pay-off amount on my daughters account then deducting interest from the amount because it took them so long to pay the refund. Then trying to collect on my account when it was in bankruptcy, agreeing to an affirmation that was only for collection purposes and not to keep the account active as intended, so I asked him to put this agreement and pay-off amount in writing. That is the last I ever heard from him, he does not return my calls, nor has his boss who was suppose to be handling this personally ever make contact. I received nothing in writing and no further contact. I believe this was just another illegal tactic to collect the full amount of the debt from me on a card that was listed in bankruptcy. They violated the agreement to re-affirm the account, so the account stays in bankruptcy. They are reporting the account as a collection 90-day late account on my credit report, and I am trying to rebuild my personal credit and this incorrect reporting is appearing as current collection and harming me further. I wrote to American Express and asked them to report the card correctly as being discharged in bankruptcy, but they have refused to do so and the person whom I was dealing with I believe was just lying to me so he could collect the balance, just as he failed to uphold the entire promise of the pay-off on my daughters account and deducted interest from the amount I agreed to for settlement. This company is illegal in their collection efforts and the way they treat card holders, they make up information of settlement just to benefit them and then do n't follow through. So my daughters complaint was not fully satisfied as agreed, and they have for a second time given me a false ( lie ) on agreement to re-open my account and pay-off requirements. I need this card reported correctly and they refuse to do so or to even discuss the matter.

Problem with rewards from credit card
Complaint: Applied for, and was approved for an American Express XXXX XXXX credit card on XX/XX/XXXX under a promotional offer awarding XXXX XXXX points for {$5000.00} spend in 3months, and an additional XXXX XXXX points for an additional {$10000.00} spend in 6 months. The offer was valid through XX/XX/XXXX. I met the required spend numbers in XX/XX/XXXX ( for the first {$5000.00} ), and XX/XX/XXXX ( for the additional {$10000.00} ), yet was not awarded the sign up bonus.
I contacted American Express numerous times about this and was constantly given the run around, even after uploading a screen shot of the offer that I signed up for. I called back in today, I believe my sixth call or contact regarding this matter, and was told that I was not eligible for the bonus " due to the channel in which I signed up. '' I signed up using an official publicly available offer directly from americanexpress.com using the " Apply '' button directly below where the terms of the sign up bonus offer are listed on my screen shot.
I have attached an image of the screenshot of the offer I took at the time of my application and would be happy to provide access to my computer for a forensic analysis to prove that the screenshot is my own, and was taking contemporaneous with my XXXX XXXX Credit Card application.

Complaint: POTENTIAL DATA BREACH AMERICAN EXPRESS Consumers, please note this is my 3rd complaint stemming from the original offense committed by American Express -- the opening of an unauthorized credit card in my name. During the time that the legal department was " investigating '' my claims and demands I experienced a data breach to both of my American Express credit cards -- the original gold card that was supposed to be an upgrade and the newly opened platinum card. Consumers, please check your records. My notice to American Express regarding the potential data breach went ignored by their legal department. I also requested a fraud alert be put on my accounts, and this too was ignored. I also alerted the staff attorney to the possibility of fraudulent charges to my gold card and that I could not tell if over {$2000.00} worth of charges were mine or not. All of these requests went completely ignored, which is a violation of the FCRA. Not only did they commit these offenses, they then proceeded to withdraw a large sum of money from my checking account, without notice to me, without my permission, and which INCLUDED the disputed amount that I had previously alerted them to and which they ignored. This not only is yet another credit offense, this is also bank fraud.
Please take note of the following facts : 1 ) On XXXX XXXX, 2017 I received a call from XXXX XXXX phone number XXXX. Please check your records. This individual that called me identified himself as an American Express customer service represented appointed to call me to go over my platinum card benefits. Being an XXXX, I do not speak to people who call me over the phone and begin to ask me questions about my credit card accounts. I did not answer this man 's questions, but I did ask him many myself, and disturbingly, he had the answers. This fraudulent individual knew the following about me : a ) my credit card account numbers, b ) the balance of said accounts, c ) the points accumulation of each account ( which even I did not know when he called because I had not looked at them in quite some time ), d ) he knew that I had a dispute over my card, e ) he also had details about my conversation with the original Amex customer service rep who opened a new credit card instead of only upgrading. He had details about this conversation as if he had access to the transcripts and/or was able to listen as these conversations took place.
2 ) I immediately alerted the Amex legal department to this. The response? " I did not direct anyone to call you. '' I then proceeded to identify potentially fraudulent charges to my account, asked for the fraud alert and asked to go over the questionable charges with someone and ALL of these requests went completely ignored by a MERCHANT SERVICES LAWYER in the Amex legal department.
3 ) I researched the phone number and came up with the following web address FULL of other customers who experienced the exact same kind of data breach : XXXX XXXX XXXX. I provided the legal department with this information and it too was ignored.
4 ) I have since checked with the XXXX website to see if perhaps my information had been compromised through that breach and I was informed my account was not affected. That being said, the fact that this fraudster had details regarding a phone conversation with an actual Amex customer service rep virtually removes that kind of breach from one associated with XXXX. Even still, Amex was legally required to review the charges with me, place a fraud alert on my accounts and not deduct sums of money my checking account that could contain previously alerted potentially fraudulent charges.
I have been an Amex cardholder for TWENTY ONE years. I have paid in full, on time the same day each month for 21 years straight. I have possibly spent at least {$200000.00} or more on my credit cards during that time. I do not recall, in those TWENTY ONE years ever receiving a notice from Amex of a potential data breach, which is required by law.
Please consumers check your records and statements as well as your credit bureau.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I booked a XXXX flight from XXXX to Hawaii. While in the process of paying for my flight, a box appeared on the screen to apply for the American ExpressXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX " XXXX '' XXXX credit card. It stated that I would get a {$200.00} statement credit if I applied for and paid with my card. I applied for the card and paid for my flight with my new XXXX credit card. After approximately two months, I did not receive my {$200.00} statement credit. I called XXXX and the person that I spoke to advised me that it would probably take about 90 days for the credit to appear. After 90 days passed, I still did not receive my credit and called XXXX again. They opened an " investigation '' and advised me to follow up on 2 weeks. Approximately 2 weeks after that, on XXXX XXXX, XXXX, I followed up and demanded to speak to a supervisor because my {$200.00} statement credit had still not been applied to my account. A supervisor named XXXX advised me that I would have my credit on the XXXX. Today is the XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and there is still no {$200.00} credit on my account. It is now approximately 140 days since I was approved for this card, booked and paid for my trip. I have still not received {$200.00} statement credit. I have no alternative but to conclude that this is a fraudulent offer.

Complaint: I was approved for the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express on XX/XX/XXXX ( see attached Approval Letter ) under a welcome promotion of XXXX delta miles for {$4000.00} in spend in 4 months as well as a {$100.00} statement credit for a Delta purchase in the first 4 months. Despite meeting the spend on my XX/XX/XXXX statement by spending over {$4000.00} ( I spent {$4100.00} between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX to be exact ), and spending {$100.00} on XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX ( see XX/XX/XXXX statement attached ) I have yet to receive my XXXX bonus miles or my {$100.00} statement credit. I have been in contact with American Express ( and opened up an investigation as well, investigation # XXXX ), and was told this was a problem affecting numerous customers and would be fixed by XX/XX/XXXX. This has not yet happened.
The offer was public and available to all applicants and I have not yet had a Platinum Delta Skymiles Credit Card that would prevent me from receiving my bonus. There is no reason why American Express should be withholding my miles when it is a common problem and there is nothing to investigate other than if I met my minimum spend and spent money on delta in the first 4 months - both which have clearly occurred, as the documentation shows.
