Complaint: Using XXXX, I leased out my condo in XXXX, OR, for the summer ( 56 nights from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX ) to a XXXX XXXX of XXXX Arizona He made his payment on XXXX-18 using his American Express card. " Guest Paid : XX/XX/18 - XXXX XXXX - American Express Your rental agreement was accepted on XX/XX/18 at XXXX XXXX by XXXX XXXX from IP address : XXXX '' I met him on XX/XX/XXXX, looked at his ID. Gave him the keys. I received. {$5400.00} He left XX/XX/XXXX. And one week later, as per our agreement, I returned his deposit. On XX/XX/XXXX he told American Express that he did not make the charge. The payment was reversed, and taken from my checking account. I believe this is fraud, or maybe theft.

Complaint: During the week of XX/XX/XXXX, my husband asked me to fill out a credit card application for him for an American Express Platinum business card. The app was done on line, using his name and business. However, when I received the card it was made out to me instead. This was not a preapproved form. This was from their website. I have been trying for 2 days to fix this. I was transferred to 10 different people. I was told I used the wrong phone number to reach them and then they gave me the same phone number I had dialed. I was told the name couldn't be changed for 6 months. I had to explain the problem to each person and then I was told I had the wrong department I was asked my social security number and my husbands several times and then they would transfer me. The last 3 people I talked to I told them I was fed up and just wanted to cancel the card, and they would just keep transferring me. I finally hung up because he was going to transfer me again. The card had an offer of XXXX miles but that ended on XX/XX/XXXX. And I still have to figure out how to cancel the card so I am not billed their fee., I have never had such horrible customer service except maybe from XXXX XXXX . In completing this form it asks if someone else is involved and are they an additional card holder or is it a joint account. It is neither, it was to be a credit card in his name only.

Complaint: I have been a American Express member since 2005. In an effort to eliminate debt I voluntarily placed my accounts with a debt management program. The debt management program did not make timely payments to all creditors. American Express was one of those. American Express removed itself from the program and I took over making the payments myself. I continue to receive statements from American Express and make payments using the American Express website and its auto pay feature. The current minimum payment is {$100.00}. I make monthly payments of {$240.00}. A review of my statements and credit report reveal that I have made no late payments, but my account has been placed with collections. I learned this information when I contacted American Express to change my due date and was referred to a collection agency. I have not been able to contact a representative or department at either organization that can provide me with a reason the account has been forwarded to collections. Each time I contact either organization I am referred back to the other. I have copies of my statements and credit report that can be submitted, but the files are large. I can provide ALL documentation upon request.

Complaint: Received my 4th denial letter from American Express.. 2 we're from initial applications and 2 were from the reconsiderations after I called and tried to get them to change their minds. I am not just disappointed in there decision to deny me again, I'm really feeling discrimination is at play here. I'm XXXX and XXXX XXXX. I completely disagree with there assessment in there denial letter.. like I stated in my phone conversation with for reconsideration. I had some issues in the past but have completely turned my credit around into positive waters and have learned from the past mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes in life and everyone deserves a second chance when they've paid for them, not to be defined by them. For example, I started my journey with a $ XXXX.secured credit card and now have earned 3 Major unsecured credit cards..2 Major department store card's..my 2 year old credit union car loan at 7 % and recently paid off credit union loan that was used for maintenance on said vehicle so that my wife could be sure to get to her job in the pharmacy. All my accounts are current and never late. Most have XXXX balances as I have the utmost respect for making my bills and debt our top priority..if I do have a balance it is around 9-10 % of my utilization..one month over the summer I did have my utilization up on a few cards because my son who is a three time XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) XXXX XXXX and two time XXXX XXXX needed to fly from XXXX Florida to XXXX Wisconsin for his competition and won XXXX XXXX in the entire world.. but the next month I paid off or brought my balances under 10 %. American Express gave me the usual generic rejection response which would be fine if it was true.. It claims that I don't pay enough on my cards or balances are too high..how is that accurate when I pay my accounts somewhere twice or even more time 's a month to keep my utilization low. They told me that I don't spend enough, so I guess being careful and responsible is not what they're looking for? It's true that I never liked being in debt so I am careful what I purchase, but as the father of XXXX children XXXX of which are in college and also work since they were XXXX I definitely spend a considerable amount of money on groceries..gas.. clothes and school related material.. numbers may tell a creditor what they are looking for, but it doesn't tell the whole picture. For example my wife and I just celebrated 30 years together and are having a house built to celebrate our life together and that of our children..and hopefully grandchildren some day soon.. we wear the same clothes day in and day out for years because we aren't wasteful and can't afford to be..we have fed..clothed..schooled..protected.. provided.. cared and loved our XXXX beautiful children and continue to do so.. I have a son that recently accepted a very similar offer from your company after being bombarded with daily offer 's from many credit card companies..the funny thing is I don't know how your computer or human scoring/algorithm works because my son who has your card in his wallet works part-time and goes to school and although responsible for his debt..he is completely dependent on his parents to provide a roof over his head and food in his mouth and pay for his healthcare..we also have less debt and way more income and lower credit utilization but some how he qualifies and I don't. Doesn't make sense to me unless you're not interested in giving credit cards to " older '' .. XXXX or someone who won't run his cards up paying the interest for years to come.. but maybe that's just how it looks.

Complaint: American Express offers referral bonus of XXXX miles for every person who opens an account with that referral link. I opened an account with a friend 's referral link and due to a website error, they didn't get the bonus. Attempts to get this remedied were met with them saying it wasn't possible and that it was my fault. They are unwilling to credit the referrer 's account with the promised reward and simply transfer me to another department or hang up on me.

Complaint: I recently conducted a review of my credit report, and I noticed that your agency showed AMERICAN EXPRESS ( AMEX ) credit hard inquiries without my knowledge. The unknown and unauthorize hard inquiries in question was apparently made by AMERICAN EXPRESS ( AMEX ) on XX/XX/2018. I have not informed or recalled of any association with these company. I have contacted AMEX, and requested them to take action to get this inquiry removed from their records and to erase any record of the inquiry with all credit reporting agencies. They assured me they would comply with my request and proceed necessary steps to resolve the issue. I wanted to contact all the credit agency as well, just to make sure the issue would be resolved immediately.

Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I received an invitation to sign up for the NO ANNUAL fee Gold Delta SkyMiles credit card for XXXX XXXX employees and retirees. On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted American Express to sign up ( see enclosures for noted time, date, employee name and employee # whom I had spoken too ). On my XX/XX/XXXX billing statement, you showed a {$95.00} annual fee which I deducted from the payment believing it was billed in error. Subsequently, the annual fee occurred on my next billing statement. Reluctantly I made payment and then contacted American express. After 5 + weeks with no response from you I again withheld payment. I finally received a reply from your company in a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX. In your letter, you addressed a promotional offer that had absolutely nothing to do with the original promotional offer I received. Example, you state that bonus miles awarded after making {$2000.00} in purchases, please show me where in my offer that number appears, I show {$1000.00}. Also, you state members are eligible for a Single welcome bonus. If you read the promotion offered to me it clearly states PLUS No annual fee. American Express has continually billed me late fees the last 6 months even after I paid the annual fee. Consequently, this has had an effect on my Credit!! My balances on my accounts with American Express have always been paid in full monthly!! I have now learned that American Express has canceled my account. I have accumulated SkyMiles on that card that is close to XXXX points. I have patiently waited for a response to be made from AX, but as you can see in the attachments they are electronically prepared, they incorrectly address the issue, and when they do, the information is not even correct!! The last response received from AX was dated XX/XX/XXXX ( see attachments ) you will see an award of XXXX bonus points on XX/XX/XXXX, which is incorrect. Complaint: I've been attempting to link my debit card ending in XXXX to my Bluebird account, I've received an error message stating to call customer service. This error has persisted over several days now, customer service reps have given me three different answers for error message. Answers include, I need at least a dollar for processing fee to link card, my balance was at XXXX at that time ... Two other answers include there is a system error/that part of site is down, this is as of yesterday, XX/XX/XXXX ... .Third answer is that my bank is declining transaction, the error is on their end ... .Ive called my bank, they are not denying it and show transaction as posted then refunded back.. I called yet again earlier this evening, was told there is actually a block on my account preventing adding funds via debit card. The only reason I can think of for this is that I am currently disputing two items from XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, for fraud, XXXX will not investigate on their end and keep referring me to Amerex. I do not see what the investigation has to do with me adding funds via debit card and or why there is a restriction on account.

Complaint: I have noticed that AMEX have placed an inquiry on my XXXX credit file dated XX/XX/2018. I spoke XXXX a XXXX customer service rep on XX/XX/2018 and was told he cant an unauthorized hard inquiry. As you probably know, Credit Reporting Agencies treat inquiries as a statement of fact and will not allow a consumer to dispute them. Since it is against federal law ( Fair Credit Reporting Act -- 15 USC? 1681b ) for an entity to view a consumer 's credit report without a " permissible purpose, '' I am writing to inquire as to your alleged purpose, for doing so since I did not apply for employment with your organization nor did I request credit from your organization. XXXX report that you pulled a hard inquiry. Based on the evidence in my possession, this inquiry was performed under false pretenses as described in the clear language of the law. 15 USC? 1681n ( a ) ( 1 ) ( B ) states, in part, " in the case of liability of a natural person for obtaining a consumer report under false pretenses or knowingly without a permissible purpose, actual damages sustained by the consumer as a result of the failure are {$1000.00}, whichever is greater ; ''

Complaint: I contacted American Express to take advantage of their 0 % Balance Transfer offer on their Amex Credit Card. When I signed up for the card, the representative told me that the maximum amount that an individual could balance transfer was {$7500.00}. I asked if this limit could be increased to {$13000.00} because I wanted to balance transfer {$13000.00} from my XXXX Credit Card and he told me no, but that I could apply for a second card and put {$7500.00} on each one. So that is what I did. My second credit card application was declined so I called American Express to find out why. This representative told me that I couldn't apply for the same credit card twice, but that if my wife applied for the credit card, that I could balance transfer {$7500.00} onto my card and she could balance transfer {$7500.00} onto her card. So that is what we did. I applied for the balance transfer and it went through right away. My wife applied for the balance transfer and it was " pending ''. After several days, we called American Express and they cancelled her balance transfer and resubmitted. After a few more days, we called to ask why and nobody could give us a clear answer other than to wait a few more days and to call back if I didn't go through. After several more days, I called in and demanded to speak to a manager. After being told they would have a manager call back, we waited 3 more days ... no call from a Manager. I called back last Friday and demanded to speak to a Manager. They assured me that a Manager would call back by the end of the day. After waiting 6 hours, I called back and refused to get off the line until a Manager answered my call. When he did, he informed me that you couldn't do a balance transfer from the same credit card more than once. This response is completely unacceptable. Now my credit card payment is due, and I'm going to be stuck paying hundreds in Interest charges because they did not allow a balance transfer that I was told by two of their representatives, could happen. On top of it all, their suggestion was to have my wife balance transfer the amount to a different credit card which we reluctantly did in the heat of the moment. 30 minutes later, we called back and told them to cancel that Balance Transfer and that we DID NOT want it to go through. The representative provided us with a confirmation number and assured us that the balance transfer was cancelled. She asked us to call back in 48 hours to confirm. 2 days later, my wife called back and she was instructed to do and they told us that the balance transfer went through. Now my wife has a - {$7500.00} balance on her XXXX XXXX XXXX card and a {$10000.00} balance on the American Express card. This is FRAUD and this is complete and total XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.
