Complaint: We signed up for the American Express XXXX card in XXXX under their promo to spend $ 3k to get 25k bonus points. We spent close to $ XXXX and didn't get the bonus. After several billing cycles closed, we contacted Amex to ask about the bonus and they told us to wait and that they couldn't open a case until after 6-8 weeks after the spending was met. We waited and then contacted Amex in XXXX and was told we didn't meet the limit because the promo we signed up for required $ XXXX spend and we were short {$190.00}. They misled us and caused us to lose out on the bonus that is worth at least {$400.00} in value. They said the welcome letter included the terms of the bonus and we've been a customer since 1995 and I have never seen any disclosure to the welcome bonus. The only disclosure we received is the fees. It's a shame that a company as AMEX would try to lure loyal customers to use their cards and then cheat customers out of their hard earned money and points.

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: American Express ( the company ) has repeatedly refused to resolve a dispute in my favor in spite of extensive evidence being provided to them. The charge in question is for {$1300.00} which was charged on XX/XX/2018. The purchase was a non-refundable airline ticket. This ticket was canceled with the merchant on the XXXX in accordance with DOT regulations and was made more than 7 days prior to departure. In spite of providing this evidence and evidence from the merchant 's website and the full Department of Transportation 's regulation but the company has refused to resolve in my favor. They declined my dispute and stated, " the ticket was non-refundable ''. After providing further evidence that the ticket was due a refund, they have changed their story stating the ticket was not canceled within 24 hours. This unfair practice violates UDAAP. After calling the merchant and stating the call was being recorded, they acknowledge asked for the electronic ticket number and agreed that the ticket had been canceled within 24 hours and was due a refund. The company refused to accept this evidence and has continued to deny my claim.

Complaint: I purchased a round trip airfare ticket online through XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. The flight is scheduled for XX/XX/2018 and returning XX/XX/2018. I have explained to both American Express Serve and XXXX, there is no way I can use the tickets for this time frame as I have just started a new job. Neither of them are willing to assist me with a refund and I dont have {$270.00} to just give away. I was hung up on by both companies after they explained their policies and told there will be no resolve. Which does not make any sense to me.

Complaint: I have been with American Express credit card for at least 10 years in all this time I've made my payments on time except for this past few months since I lost my job and was late 3 times, 2 of which was 1 day late. They now charged me a {$27.00} late fee and raised my mininum due payment from {$35.00} to {$62.00}. They told me they would put me on a payment plan of {$16.00} a month but close my account which is already closed since it was issued through XXXX & I no longer wanted to pay the {$50.00} annual fee. But this would harm my credit.

Complaint: Received a letter on XX/XX/2018 from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX trying to collect a debt for {$150.00} with American Express that is in good standing and NOT in default. The account is closed but payments are being made. I believe this company is trying to scam people into thinking their account is in default. I requesting that American Express be contacted so they can confirm my account is in good standing. AmEx would not be sending statements if I was in default.I have attached the last statement from AmEx.

Complaint: American Express is trying to collect a debt from XXXX XXXX. I used to rent her a room at one time, but am not her or responsible for her debt. She put me on her card as an authorized user no financial information should have been exchanged. I never had the card and when I found out I made her remove me and had the company do that as well. At that time she was current with little owed I believe. I'm assuming she's gotten behind because the company keeps calling me and my family. I call back each time and tell them to remove my number, I'm not her and have no idea how to contact her. I still get the calls constantly. Usually from a XXXX XXXX, Senior account specialist and they leave the number XXXX. Also got one from XXXX something but the name broke up on the message so not sure last name. I've called and spoken with America Express a bunch of times. Last time was XX/XX/18 about XXXX. They say they've removed my number but I got another call today. They just won't quit!

Complaint: I got a " Credit Card '' from American Express last year ( 2017 ).
I made an error in getting this " Credit Card '' because it was not a common Credit Card ; they required you to pay 100 % at the end of each month. So I decided to cancelled it.
Before cancelling the " Credit Card '' I made the following payments : XX/XX/XXXX : {$100.00} XX/XX/XXXX : {$450.00} XX/XX/XXXX : {$500.00} XX/XX/XXXX : {$400.00} Last days of XXXX, I called AMEX to please charge the FULL amount I owed at that time, and cancel the Credit Card. Because I only had it for 5 months ( or so ), they delete the annual subscription fee ( {$400.00} ) and told me that the amount due was {$2000.00}. So they did charge 100 % of the amount due on XX/XX/XXXX to my bank account.
Since XX/XX/XXXX, I didn't have AMEX anymore, an nothing owning them neither.
BUT, on XXXX I identified a late payment on my credit score from AMEX ... Called to see WHY and HOW, could I have a debt with them if I already called in XXXX and PAID 100 % and cancelled the credit card.
They told me was an AMEX error, and deleted the late payment fees but anyway charged me {$120.00} -telling me that NOW I didn't owe nothing.
BUT ( 2 ) ... In XXXX, again it appeared a late payment on my credit score, so I called back again.. they said I had 2 late payment fees, but was an error from AMEX.. so they delete those " late payments '' again..
The problem today, is that since XXXX that I told them to charge 100 % and cancel my credit card, they have been nice to delete those " invented fees '' but they say, that they are not able to delete that from my Credit Score I would appreciate you listen the calls and take action, because it's not fair to have " late payments '' for the las 4 months on my credit score because of their error.

I told him I am existing card member and he didnt believe it. he said under my Social security number he can not see active accounts. So I have to provide my full card number to pull up my accounts details.
I am not worried getting this card and I am worried what he was treated me unprofessionally.

Complaint: My top secret security clearance was cancelled due to information my company received from American Express regarding charges on my company credit card. I have asked for signed charge slips for all charges, especially the obvioius fraud to XXXX for over {$16000.00}. I plan to file a police report. In the past I have asked for explanation for these charges but have never received them. I am hoping CFPB can help me clear my name.
