Complaint: I received a prepaid AMEX Serve credit card in the mail. I immediately knew something was wrong as it was made out in my maiden name. When I contacted AMEX fraud department, my suspicious were confirmed as the credit card request was made from an email address that I do not have. The email address was XXXX. Amex did confirm that the identify thief had my DOB, SS # and mailing address. I asked to close the account. It took 6 phone calls to the overseas fraud department and unsympathetic representatives who were reading from a script. At one point, when I asked for a case #, report # or a form of confirmation that the matter was being handled, the rep told me he was sending me a confirmation to the email address were the fake request was made. I was furious! I asked to speak with US representative who could actually assist me. All 6 calls to AMEX fraud department results in hang ups during my conversations. They never gave me a confirmation in writing or a case #. I contacted the credit bureaus and placed a freeze on my credit. American Express is absolutely irresponsible in handling identify theft! I still do not know what is going on with the credit card fraudulently opened in my name with my information! I request to speak with someone in the US office to address this serious matter. I am seeking legal advice if any damage occurs to my perfect credit due to AMEX negligence and mishandling of an identity theft matter. Thank you.

Complaint: Hello my name is XXXX XXXX XXXX, I recently opened an account with Amex and I set up a direct deposit from my XXXX XXXX for it to be renewed at the start at every month. Then my best friend and his boyfriend moved in together and as a housewarming gift I gave them {$1800.00} on the card. He logged in the information to the XXXX XXXX Account but accidentally put in my nickname of XXXX instead of XXXX, or left out the middle initial. Anyway, the card blocked itself. After waiting collectively an hour trying to contact a real person to unblock it I got transferred to a call center in their XXXX, Arizona office. Once I let it slip out my mouth it was a housewarming/engagement present for a XXXX couple she said she had a bad connection despite calling me from a landline and I had to call back later, she said I refused to answer questions and I said I agreed to answer every question I was just giving context, she refused and said I called the wrong department but could she please transfer me to another colleague? She refused. I hung up. Twenty minutes later I called back on the other number and I was connected to the same lady. But this time it was her assistant, I was told after that she left for the day. By then I was infuriated I asked to be transfered to another person and if her personal life is clouding her professional judgement she shouldve transferred me when I asked. They tried to get me to talk to her again but I refused and said I would contact HR. Every email I tried to send and call I make goes unanswered to their head office. I even contacted the government agency and they wouldnt to do anything. This happened on the XX/XX/2018 I just want my card unblocked. I will cancel it on the next bill cycle its too much grief and I have wasted three days and five hours of my life. If you would help me with this I would be very grateful. Thanks XXXX XXXX

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I applied for the American Express Blue Cash Back card as they were offering a promotional deal - {$150.00} statement credit after you spend {$1000.00} in purchases on your new Card within the first 3 months. I was approved for the card and made over {$1000.00} in purchases in the first 3 months. I have not seen the promotional credit still as of XX/XX/XXXX. I have communicated with American Express multiple times. They have claimed to investigated the issue ( ID XXXX ) and determined the offer was not available when I applied. I do know that the offer has been around since at least XX/XX/XXXX, and is still available on their website today. American Express has also acknowledged a problem with my account failing to accrue any rewards points for my purchases. They have offered to credit me 1 % of my purchases. I decline this offer, as I am entitled to the {$150.00} statement credit offered, which is what got me to apply for their product.

Complaint: In 2015 I realized I was a victim of identity theft. For several years my " trusted '' accountant was using my credit cards and opening accounts in my name for her own financial gain. It has been difficult for me to clean up the mess since it occurred over a long period of time. The remaining accounts in question are with American Express. I am not claiming that all of these accounts were fraudulent. The fact of the matter is that there were so many accounts involved, and it happened so long ago, that I can not say with certainty which accounts are 100 % mine. I wrote American Express a letter requesting my signed contracts and monthly statements so I could investigate which accounts and transactions were mine. They currently show a status of " charged off ''. I'm self employed and rely on my credit to fund my business. This obviously hurts me. I want to pay what I owe and fix the rest so I can move on with my life. AMEX did not respond. I wrote them 3 more times and included the police report. They never responded. Just today they called me and offered to settle my balances for 65 %. They further claimed they had no record of my police report. I'm offended that they couldn't care less about my situation and only want to collect money.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I responded to an offer for the American Express Business Platinum Card that required a {$25000.00} spend within 3 months for XXXX Membership Rewards points. I used the card exclusively and appropriately for all my business expenses and received the bonus by the end of XXXX. My balances on the card have been paid in full and are currently XXXX. I currently have XXXX Membership Rewards points in my account. Today I attempted to transfer XXXX XXXX points to a frequent flyer account to purchase a frequent flyer ticket ( On XXXX through the XXXX program ) as promised as one of the perks of this {$450.00} annual fee card and according to the Cardmember Agreement. I received the following error : " This action will not be completed at this time because your account is currently being reviewed to make sure all eligible purchases meet qualifying criteria. '' I immediately called the Membership Rewards Customer Service number. Speaking to a supervisor, she reported that although there is no issue with my credit card, they are reviewing my Membership Rewards account for an unknown reason. I have never used my Membership Rewards points for any activity before. They claim this review will take 6 to 8 weeks and until then I can not use my Membership Rewards points for any transfers to frequent flyer programs. Without these points, the travel I need to plan immediately to attend my relative 's funeral will have to be completed in another manner. American Express is in violation of their Cardmember Agreement and based on a quick review of online complaints I can see that a class action lawsuit over this matter may be customers only recourse. In 10 years of using XXXX XXXX XXXX points I have never experienced such an issue and it is extremely disappointing to receive such treatment as a so-called " Platinum '' member. Clearly, I will not be using their cards again.

Complaint: I was told by a rep over the phone with American Express that I would not incur a hard credit pull to simply add my nephew as an authorized user to my account. I didn't request a credit line increase, just simply wanted a second card. I submitted the request and the second card was issued along with a hard credit pull. I asked a second representative via American Express website and was again told a hard pull would not occur. I have pics of the chat! The reps name is XXXX and on XX/XX/2018 XXXX he said " You will not receive a credit inquiry for either requesting an upgrade, or adding an Additional Card Member to your existing account. However you may receive credit inquiry if you apply for a New card account. '' dispute the inquiry with the agencies, and send a polite letter to American Express asking the inquiry be removed and they sent a letter back on XX/XX/2018 and refused to do so. Can you help? Im trying to buy my first home and this is hindering me. Thanks so much.

Complaint: This is in reference to CFPB Complaint # XXXX I received a response from American Express that did not answer my questions and concerns. 1. Even though I am responsible for all the charges on my closed corporate account - it was closed in XX/XX/XXXX, American Express failed to send me any outstanding bills to my email or to my address after XX/XX/XXXX. In response to my last CFPB complaint against American Express ( XX/XX/XXXX - see referenced CFPB complaint ID ), they provided me with all of the bills from XX/XX/XXXX and forward. I can say with 100 % certainty that these bills never arrived at my home and I was never notified appropriately via email. Needless to say, I had to find out the hard way in XX/XX/XXXX that I incurred over {$200.00} in fees. If I would've been properly received a bill with the first late fee, I would've paid off the balance in full avoiding this entire situation. I was making payments over the course of the year against the {$320.00} ( which was part of the {$1300.00} charge ). American Express was disputing the entire charge as part of a long term claim that in an effort to have the moving company make the {$320.00} adjustment ). I made several calls to American Express about the issue, however, in order to receive my belongings from the movers that were moving me across country, I was forced to sign on the invoice authorizing the AMEX transaction or they would not hand over my items. The moving company used that to their advantage to show that the transaction was legitimate, even though they were honestly taking advantage of me. I told AMEX that I made several attempts to negotiate and file a claim with the movers but they were uncooperative. If I would've received a bill to my address on the statement after XX/XX/XXXX, noting any late fees incurred, I would've paid off the disputed amount in full a long time ago. Also I wasn't notified as to when the disputed charges of {$320.00} were to be paid back to American Express in full by the specified date on the statements provided to me in XX/XX/XXXX. Instead of handling this appropriately by reaching out to me via email or mail with a statement, American Express decided to send me to collections over a year and a half later over these late fees I never knew about. American Express told me in their response to my last CFPB complaint, that my corporate card agreement stipulates the late fees, however, I was not notified until now ( after being sent to collections ). I reached out to XXXX XXXX XXXX asking them why I wasn't notified about this outstanding balance/payments and they told me that I needed to handle this directly with American Express and not them. How am I to know of what I owe if no one proactively took the effort to reach out to me with a statement or email notification between XX/XX/XXXX to current? The balance was paid back in full after the collections agency ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) inappropriately handled my account - a CFPB complaint was filed against them for this issue as well and for the violation of my privacy rights. - 2. Issue regarding the disclosure of my privacy information : Your response to my initial complaint doesn't suffice. Nowhere in the cardholder agreement does it explicitly say that you can disclose my sensitive personal banking information ( my checking account and routing numbers ) to a third party collections agency - XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. After my CFPB Complaint to them, they confirmed that American Express ( their client ) transferred over my sensitive bank account and routing number information to them in a confidential manner. Being that this is my sensitive personal data, American Express had to notify me before doing such transfer of personal data. You never received explicit consent from me stating that you could do such transfer. You had no right to give XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX my sensitive and confidential personal information. The corporate card holder agreement at the time my account was open does not explicitly disclose these types of terms.

The balance noted is {$1000.00} and the charge is {$18.00} Yet, On the XXXX closing statement, the interest charged for the same period at a lesser balance of {$1000.00} IS HIGHER at {$19.00}. In other words, they are charging a higher amount of interest for the same time periods when the balance is LESS. They are also charging {$2.00} and {$2.00} for the date of XX/XX/XXXX
