Problem with fees charged
Complaint: When I leased my vehicle I was told it would be good to buy a service plan as in the long run you don't have to worry about paying for it later and it is more cost effective. I paid for the all inclusive plan and it would be included in my payments. I later found out that my first ever service is free which is standard for an XXXX ... so why would I pre pay for two more services which in a long run would cost me more money.
I called XXXX XXXX in CA and they assured me a pro rated refund ... I have yet to see the money applied to my principal balance. Last week I called XXXX XXXX XXXX and they promised to resolve the issue and they have not ... XXXX XXXX account # is XXXX ...
The day I bought my car I was told as my credit score may have not been up to par my rate was higher ; and when I asked what does it need to be I got a vague answer ... When you comeback in a few years to lease another car and your score is better you will have a better and lower payment. I feel I was steered.. I need help in getting XXXX to comply please.

Credit inquiries on your report that you don't recognize
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I sent a letter to this company requesting removal of their inquiry on my credit report. I have no knowledge of applying for this company. I asked them to please remove the inquiry unless they have my permissible written copy with my hand writing as per the FCRA. This company is NOT being complaint with the FCRA, they told me they would not remove the inquire. This is a violation.

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: About a year ago, I received a couple of emails from VW offering me to turn in my leased vehicle and lease or purchase another vehicle. The lease on my old vehicle matured on XX/XX/XXXX. I visited XXXX XXXX in XXXX, VA and agreed to a new vehicle. When negotiating the price, I explicitly told the dealer I wanted all charges rolled into the bottom line. I left the dealer with a new car and at the time, no further charges owed. I did not sign or receive any documentation countering my belief. I turned the vehicle into the dealership on XX/XX/XXXX.
In XX/XX/XXXX, I received a turn-in settlement invoice from VW Credit with a request for a {$1400.00} payment. I contacted VW Credit on XX/XX/XXXX to inquire about the charges and I was basically told " those are the charges, can't help you ''. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an updated bill for {$2200.00} with no explanation. On XX/XX/XXXX, I, again, contacted VW Credit and was told that the charges needed to be recalculated because they were totaled incorrectly. I was also told that I would receive a return call explaining said charges. I never received that call. Two months later, I called again. Bottom line, I asked for a detailed billing statement for all charges as I had not received one. I was also told that my vehicle was sold at auction for a loss and that total was factored in obtaining the payment total. That total was compared with excess mileage and excess wear. The excess mileage charge was included in the turn in payment and I disputed the damages as I turned in the vehicle in excellent driving condition. The VW Credit agent told me it took 7 days after I relinquished my vehicle to the dealer for someone to inspect it and come up with a bottom line. About a week after this call, I finally received a detailed billing statement. And to my surprise, a different total - {$1600.00}.
Just to pile on even more, VW Credit referred this bill to a debt collector.
When I talked to the debt collector, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, on XX/XX/XXXX, I told them that this account was in dispute and not call me anymore until resolved. The agent told me that I needed to pay off the debt for whatever amount even after I told him about the dispute. He could not give me a total amount even after I laid out the situation. He said pay the amount that was the most and worry about a resolved total later. He continued to press the issue of payment and I told him I would not pay it until resolved. I asked him and the company not to call until resolved and he tried one more time to get me to pay.

Excess mileage, damage, or wear fees, or other problem after the lease is finish
Complaint: I am filing this complaint because I was charged fees that I didnt agree to. Also, the car sales person who helped me with my car loan lied. I went to the XXXX XXXX Volkswagen dealership in XXXX TX with an approval from my bank. The sales person who assisted me at the time then advised after speaking with the loan officer that I wouldnt be able to use my bank loan, but they were able to finance me. I had a car at the time that I had less than a year left to pay on they then advised me that I would have to turn in my current car in order to be approved. In the end I signed a four-year lease with Volkswagen in 2012. And I traded in my current vehicle for the lease. After leaving the car dealership I had a bad feeling about the deal. I called my bank the next day and asked them was I not approved for the price of the car and was I required to trade in my current car. The bank rep advised that they approved me for the new car with the current car that I had. And they were aware that I was currently paying off a car loan. I then contacted XXXX XXXX Volkswagen and advised them what my bank stated, and I wanted to bring the car back and get my car that I traded in from them. They advised that I couldnt do that once I drove off the lot. A few hours later the manager called me because of my concerns and he then to advised me that they couldnt take the car back. And then I just dropped it and was very unhappy about the whole ordeal but took it as a lesson learned because I didnt have a greater understanding of what could be done to undo thing. Once it was time to turn the car in after the four-year lease I tried to obtain a loan for the car because he was only {$8000.00} more left to pay on the car. Volkswagen finical stated they couldnt approve me for the loan and I had to return the car. Once I returned the car it had normal wear and tear but was in good condition. However, once I received my end of loan bill it was over 10,000 because of damages as well as mileage overages. I contacted them right away because when I review the paper work the loan officer had me sign from that day it didnt include anything regarding mileage overages. Ive called several times to customer care they advised there is nothing they could do, and I owe the money. Im willing to provide as much information as needed but there is no way that I owe fees for things I did not agree to and damages I did not cause.

Problem with fees charged
Complaint: Below is a letter I sent to VW Credit after ( on XX/XX/XXXX ) after contacting them initially on XX/XX/XXXX to discuss an excessive amount of money I would owe at the end of my loan ( last payment to be XX/XX/XXXX ). I was told that {$1600.00} dollar amount was interest as a result of the installment extensions I received throughout the life of the loan. NONE of those installment agreements, stated there would be a lump of interest attached at the end of the loan nor did my original loan agreement state this condition. As I attempted to understand how VW came to this figure, I had VW send my loan payment history, I also noticed that although I paid online ( VWs website ), VW showed payments made one/two days after they were made on THEIR site. I pulled my credit to find VW had reported me late an excessive amount of times and charged me for those reported late payments. When VW sent me the criteria for paying late, on most of those occasions I did NOT in fact pay late. Additionally, regarding the extensions, VWs policy stated they would not report those months within those extension agreements, but in fact did report them late. Finally, although I paid my final actual payment before the due date. I did not receive all that I requested to reconcile my account until XX/XX/XXXX preventing me from paying before XX/XX/XXXX, because I had to take a TSP loan out to pay the {$1700.00} in interest. When I called VW to let them know, they said they were sorry and could not help me. Now my account is closed and shows the interest paid as 30-60 days late. None of my concerns in the letter below were addressed. ( NEXT SECTION IS LETTER SENT DIRECTLY TO VW CREDIT ) Volkswagen Credit XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, OR XXXX RE : Account Number XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX AZ XXXX Dear XXXX, We spoke in XXXX about the remaining balance on my XXXX XXXX Loan and the number of lates reported to the credit bureaus. I understood that 1 ) No late fees would be assessed for the months that are included in the loan extension agreements and 2 ) No Lates would be reported to the credit bureaus.
Ive attached a screen print of my XXXX credit report showing the reported lates. Ive also attached the 3 loan extension agreements for the following dates : XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX.
Again, my dispute is with both the amount that is currently due at the end of my loan ; and the months that should have been included in the loan extensions ( as not reported late ) which have in fact been reported late. The current balance on my loan is approximately {$1600.00} ; minus what should have been my final payment ( {$800.00} paid today, XX/XX/XXXX ). What makes up this {$1600.00}? It certainly can not be late fees as I have paid late fees totaling {$950.00}, over the life of this loan. It appears I was also charged late fees for the months which were incorrectly reported. Again, I paid {$950.00} in late fees ( at {$30.00} per fee ). This {$950.00} works out to 31.5 times I was charged a late fee, how is that possible???
The credit bureau report shows Ive paid 17 times late ( which I am disputing as incorrect see below ). Again, how is that possible??? It certainly appears I have paid late fees for the months that should not have been reported as late!
Certainly, this can not be {$1600.00} of interest. As of today, XX/XX/XXXX, I have in fact made 71 payments, which is the original 66 payments plus the addition of the 5 payments added to the end of my loan. How do I still owe {$1600.00}?
As shown below and as evidenced on the credit reports, there are months as shown on the attached loan agreements which should have NOT been reported late, but in fact were reported late to the credit bureaus.
Additionally, there are ALSO months for which I was reported late, when I was in fact not late, having nothing to do with the loan agreements!
In XXXX, months XXXX and XXXX should not have been reported. In XXXX, only XXXX should have been reported late as I had the loan agreement covering XXXX and XXXX and all other months were paid on time. In XXXX, also no lates should have been reported as the month of XXXX was on an agreement and all other months were paid on time.
Please review this matter as soon as possible and provide a resolution for how these issues will be corrected.
Thank you, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Termination fees or other problem when ending the lease early
Complaint: I leased the car from XXXX XXXX XXXX. I planned to buy it at the end of the lease, so my service rep recommended I get 7 years of XXXX XXXX. They charged me {$860.00} but misrepresented what I was buying.
The logo at the top of the contract says " XXXX ''. It does not say " XXXX XXXX ''. This is pertinent because I predicted XXXX XXXX would go out of business, based on the way their management treated the employees and neighboring businesses. I would never have paid for a warranty backed only by a dealership whose ship was sinking. They gave up their XXXX contract about a year after I leased the car, and all employees moved to XXXX XXXX. I got my service from XXXX thereafter, and turned the car in there.
I called XXXX XXXX to discuss a {$350.00} turn in fee that was not disclosed verbally, and was obscured by a line on the contract, so I didn't see it. I also asked them to help me get a refund for the extended warranty, because I didn't use it. A representative of XXXX at XXXX told me I should get a full refund. XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX ext. XXXX said he would take care of me. As of XX/XX/19 XXXX had not followed up, so I wrote the attached letter.
XXXX called me this weekend only to tell me he would not help. He claims that XXXX has nothing to do with the warranty, and my only recourse is to go back to XXXX XXXX, who is out of business.
I told him that it is sold as an XXXX product. I am asking them to deduct the money they owe me from the money I owe them, and send me a refund. The bill they sent me listing the money I owe them is in error. They claim I only turned in one key, and charged me for the other key. I turned in both keys and can prove it with the attached paperwork from XXXX.
The amount they owe me is minor, {$150.00} if I pay the {$350.00} fee that is obscured ; or {$500.00} if the CFPB agrees they should not charge that fee. The real issue is bigger than my complaint.
XXXX sells a warranty under the guise that it is their product and that XXXX backs it up ; then when it comes time to pay, they disavow a relationship to the warranty. That policy deceives the consumer.

Billing problem
Complaint: On Saturday XX/XX/XXXX, I signed an agreement to purchase a used XXXX XXXX XXXX at a purchase price of {$10000.00}, with a rebate of {$2700.00}, plus a down payment of {$400.00} which would make a balance to be financed of {$7600.00}. I received my first payment invoice on Thursday, XX/XX/XXXX, indicating my first payment of {$350.00} would be due on XX/XX/XXXX. After reading further I noticed a balance of {$13000.00}. I never received a copy of the Retail installment contract and security agreement. I recall being told that the purchase amount would be financed at XXXX percent for 36 months. After reading that {$13000.00}, as the balance, I further learned that {$350.00} was for 72 months, not 36. I would not have agreed to that. I would be paying over {$25000.00} for this vehicle. I can't seem to get anything done with the dealership or Volkswagen credit. Please help me resolve this matter. I'm not paying {$350.00} for 6 years. 36 months is reasonable. Please assist me in getting this straightened out before my first payment is due.

Problem with fees charged
Complaint: I leased a XXXX XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX ( 3yr term ). In XX/XX/XXXX I terminated the lease under the Dieselgate class action settlement. As a requirement of lease termination I settled all prior and future liabilities with VW.
On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a bill from VW Credit indicating I owe {$140.00} in excise tax. The letter is undated, but includes the threat that I will be reported to credit bureaus if I do not respond within 30 days.
I will be following up with Volkswagen directly, but given the situation, I believe this to be fraud. There is no way that the company could be unaware of my decision to surrender the vehicle in XX/XX/XXXX. I am reporting to CFPB in case other defrauded ex-customers are receiving similar notices.

Denied request to lower payments
Complaint: Contacted VW immediately after they gave me this loan. Letting them know, in the future I would be unable to make these payments. I called them again on XX/XX/2019 and the agent lied to me and said there was nothing they could do to restructure my loan. In fact, they have lied almost the entire year I've had the loan about this " fact. '' XXXX XXXX called me back after I hung up out of frustration and was abrasive on the phone, and continued to perpetuate the lie. I heard loud cackling and hysterical laughing in the background. Clearly I was the XXXX of their awful joke.
I was put into an unaffordable loan, from day 1 with no regard for my budget or ability to pay the loan on a fixed income. All of these were disclosed when I made the purchase.
I need to restructure my loan so that I can keep my car. Which I'm living in with my cats. I have appealed to VW Credit on multiple occasions. They know my situation and could not care less. I'm in jeopardy of losing my vehicle, which is also my home, due to the predatory lending practices involved.

Problem with paying off the loan
Complaint: I currently have a XXXX XXXX XXXX on a lease. I was trading the vehicle in for a XXXX XXXX XXXX. On the VW Credit website, I can receive a payoff quote that is good for 10 days. The payoff quote was {$27000.00}. I produced a digital copy for the XXXX dealer as well as showed the sales person the quote directly while finalizing the deal for the new car at the dealership. This was on XXXX. The quote expires on XXXX.
Yesterday, the XXXX dealer notified me that the payoff quote from VW Credit was {$28000.00}. That is {$850.00} more than the quote I provided for the dealership. I went back to the VW Credit website again today, XXXX and the payoff quote is still the same as I quote the dealership on XXXX. I spoke with a VW Credit representative about the discrepency and she said the quote provided is for the customer. The dealership gets a completely different payoff quote and that quote is based on market value. I asked her that VW can bascially charge whatever it wants to the dealer regardless of what the contract says? She said yes. Furthermore, none of this is even written on the payoff quote webpage.
I told her could you imagine if I sold my house and only owed $ XXXX but the bank holding the note felt it was really worth $ XXXX so that is the new outstanding payoff. Such a practice is illegal. At this point, I am returning the XXXX purchase back to the dealership.

Problem while selling or giving up the vehicle
Complaint: Completed a 30 month lease with Audi Financial Services for a 2016 XXXX XXXX.
Lease was fully paid, on-time and never late once through VW Credit ( XXXX XXXX ).
A few days prior to the lease turn-in date, the car was impounded by the Police.
I was unable to return the vehicle on-time and XXXX put a {$39000.00} hit on my Credit.
The vehicle was recovered by XXXX and they are in possession of the Car now.
The pending court case got dismissed and XXXX ( VA ) County is liable for damages.
After numerous calls with XXXX ( VW Credit ) and the Credit Bureaus this amount is still fraudulently being reported on my Credit report, dropping my FICO score by over 100 pts.
The only charges I am responsible for are Mileage, Wear/Tear, and Deposition Fee.
This compliant is to dispute this amount with the FTC as Fraud and Inaccurate.

Account status incorrect
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I opened an account with VW Credit Inc on a XXXX XXXX XXXX and in XX/XX/XXXXthe car was totaled in a hail storm. I purchased gap insurance through the XXXX dealership in case something like this happened. I filed my claim and the car was paid in full between the insurance company proceeds and the gap company ( XXXX ) payment.
My account was statused as paid in full. Then on XX/XX/XXXX I received an alert from the 3 bureaus showing a new tradeline update on my credit report. I opened the notice and found that VW Credit Inc had updated my loan status from " Paid in Full '' to " Paid / Charge-Off ''. This statement basically shows as if I let my vehicle get repossessed and then I paid off the balance at a later date. This is completely false as I never made a late payment much less let the account charge-off.
I contacted VW Credit Inc on XX/XX/XXXX and they stated they would correct the error and it would take about 30 days. On XX/XX/XXXX the account did update but nothing changed and still shows " Paid / Charge-Off ''.
This erroneous data is having a negative impact on my credit score thus making the cost of new credit to increase.
