Problems when you are unable to pay

Consumer Loan: Vehicle loan

Complaint: I paid my account due on XX/XX/2016 and saw something on the website that said Toyota Financial gave a one-time forgiveness. I paid the overdue amount XXXX XXXX. I applied XXXX XXXX and was told that the policy was no longer being offered as of XXXX XXXX. I had never been late before. In fact, this was my second to last payment and now the car has been paid in full. I was reported as being 30 days late and my credit score was reduced by XXXX points. I think this is unfair as the forgiveness policy was active when the late payment occurred. I contacted Toyota Financial again and they refused to remove the late mark on my credit report.

Complaint: We bought a new Toyota, XXXX XXXX and were pre approved through our credit union. At the dealer they told us they work with the credit union and will take care of the paperwork for us right there. We signed the papers and then a few days later our credit union called to ask if we were going to still need the loan. At that time we were told nothing was sent to them for a loan for us from the dealer, and in subsequent talking with the dealer we were told there was a 'misunderstanding ' and our loan was with Toyota financial. I told them we wanted to go through our credit union, and he called us back later and said he was able to get the loan rate changed to 2.2 % interest, which was 1 % below what the credit union would give us. At this point, partly to save us a hassle, we agreed to stay with Toyota at the new rate. We were told that there was no penalties for early pay off. We got a statement saying our payment amount should be {$540.00}, the finance charge should be {$2500.00}, the APR should read 2.2 % on the total sales price should be {$42000.00}. First payment date was for XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. for an outstanding balance of {$36000.00}. I sent in a payment of {$600.00} on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. My next statement was dated XXXX/XXXX/XXXX and said my next payment due was for {$490.00} due on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX with an outstanding balance of {$36000.00}. Said last transaction date was XXXX/XXXX/XXXX for {$600.00}. There was nothing on that statement of what my interest charge was, nor how much of that {$600.00} went to interest and how much went to the principle. I made a new payment of {$700.00} on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. On XXXX/XXXX/XXXX I had n't gotten a new statement, but wanted to make sure I got my payment in in time and so sent in another payment of {$700.00} on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. I am using a bill pay option through my credit union for my payments to make things easier for me. The next statement I received was dated XXXX/XXXX/XXXX and simply stated last transaction amount was {$700.00} dated XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. 3 monthly payment made. Next payment was due on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX for {$190.00}. with an outstanding balance of {$35000.00} Also hd a line that said regular payment amount is {$540.00}. There was again no mention of the percentage rate nor how much of my payments went to interest and principle. At this point I became concerned that something was amiss here. I called the Toyota financial and found out through my questioning that only the amount said due on my statement was put toward my loan. The rest was being kept to make my next payment because I had 'over paid '. That is why my next payment was n't due until XXXX/XXXX/XXXX and for only {$190.00} So they are actually just holding onto all the money extra I sent in, interest free by the way, and not using it for pre payment like I thought I could do. Questioning them on this, I was told if I wanted to have the extra amount applied to the principle, I would have to call them each time I made a payment to instruct them to do this. I asked if I they would do this now while I was on the phone and he said he could only do that for the last payment I sent in of {$700.00}, not for the other two. Then he said if I wanted to make prepayments applied to the principle with out having to call them, I would have to make separate payments to a completely different address and mark on it that it was for principle only etc. So my complaint is that they are being very deceptive about my payments, by not showing interest and principles paid nor stating that extra payments are not being applied, nor even stating what my actual interest percentage is on each statement. That 's not right, and I do n't think it should be allowed to happen like that. I would like you to see if this kind of dealing can be made to be changed for the consumers protection. I am going to contact my credit union to see if I can still get a loan from them and pay off Toyota, but that might not be possible, as I retired XXXX XXXX, XXXX.

Problems when you are unable to pay

Complaint: Back in XXXX or XXXX I was going through a divorce where it was decided my ex-husband would pay this payment until divorce was final. I woke up one morning and car was gone, he ended up not paying for a month or two and I had not received any proper notice and the car was picked up by Toyota. I called and promptly paid the past due amount and all legal fees involved and paid off the car the following year when I traded it on another Toyota. I find it disturbing that I was not properly notified and I paid the debt within hours, and even financed another car through their firm and they are keeping this blemish on my credit report and are unwilling to remove the item even though it was more than 7 years ago.

Complaint: I had a lease through Lexus Financial Services ( LFS ) for a XXXX XXXX XXXX ( payments on that vehicle were made via auto-pay ). This past XXXX, I returned the XXXX vehicle and then got a new lease on a XXXX model, also financed through LFS. In XXXX, I made my final payment to LFS for the XXXX XXXX ( via autopay ). Also, in XXXX, my dealership ( XXXX XXXX XXXX of XXXX XXXX ) made my first payment to LFS for the XXXX XXXX. At that point, I now had only the XXXX vehicle -- NOT the XXXX vehicle. In XXXX, I was sent a bill from LFS for XXXX for my XXXX XXXX ( which I expected to receive ). However, they ALSO took an automatic payment for the XXXX vehicle ( XXXX ) which I no longer had. This should not have happened. When I called LFS, promptly, to advise them of this, they apologized for the error and told me they would either send me a check for the XXXX or they would credit my XXXX account for the XXXX. No big deal -- all was fine, as far as I was concerned. I opted to have them credit the XXXX account for XXXX. As for the remaining XXXX balance on the XXXX account ( XXXX minus XXXX ), they said that, since the amount was negligible, they would simply tack on that small balance to the next month 's bill. ( FYI, I did, the next month, make a payment reflecting an additional XXXX ). Unfortunately, to date, my XXXX account has still not been credited for XXXX, despite the fact that they have retained the XXXX that they never should have taken to begin with. I have called literally dozens of times to get this corrected -- as has my dealership -- but NOTHING seems to get fixed. They 'll tell me it 's fixed, but when I later check the account, it has n't been fixed. This week, I received YET ANOTHER bill demanding a double payment. When I call, they threaten to send me to collections. I feel like they are trying to extort money out of me and I do n't know what to do anymore. .

Complaint: After having XXXX XXXX leases in the past years and never being late on payments to them nor any other creditor either in my entire life, Lexus financial has reported me to the credit bureaus for 1 late payment over 30 days. They have stated that I did not pay the XXXX 2016 payment and that is totally untrue. After speaking with several of their representatives for hours in an effort to resolve the matter and explaining to them that the payment of {$290.00} was made thru their phone automated system ( as always ) on XXXX XXXX, they advised me that they WILL NOT remove the negative information from my credit reports and that they can not help me any further to please not call them anymore. They also advised me that they have been trying to contact me at a telephone number that does not exist and that is not a correct statement either, they have my phone number as well as my wife 's phone number in their file which I updated and verified with them back in XXXX 2016. Iam not late on my payments nor have I ever been late on my payment to Lexus nor any other creditor either.

Taking out the loan or lease

Consumer Loan: Vehicle lease

Complaint: I have leased a XXXX XXXX XXXX from Toyota Financial Services ( TFS ) on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. Since this was an electric vehicle, Toyota was offering a special promotion for unlimited mileage XXXX My lease contract clearly states that there is no mileage limit and no charge exists for additional miles. However, upon turning the car in at the end of the lease ( on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX ), TFS has sent me a bill for {$2000.00} for excess mileage. I have been trying to work this out with Toyota since XXXX, but just get transferred around different departments and nobody has the authority to make a decision in my case. I was advised by the representatives to seek outside help. At this point, my account is in charge-offs, and this would soon negatively impact my credit report.

Complaint: When I loaned my XXXX in 2012 I was told 7 % for 6 years since my credit was not good.. But if I add more on the monthly minimum payment it will shorten the length of payments. After 4 years paying my loan I contacted Toyota Financial Services to decrease the interest because I become disable. I was told my car loan interest is 11.54 % and they are just 3rd party, they cant help me. I called the Dealer Agent he said he didnt know that if only he knew it he will advise me to refinance after one year. I also mentioned if I pay more it will just be deducted for next month payment. I found also Toyota will settle a lot of money for discrimination of loan pricing. I was not only had been discriminated but completely deceived.

Complaint: I leased a vehicle from Toyota in XXXX. In XXXX the vehicle was shot while sitting in my driveway. The damage was small, but I filed a police report and opened a claim with my insurance company. In XXXX, I was told by the XXXX registered lease turn-in inspector that the damage was too slight to qualify as excess wear & tear, but I kept the insurance claim open just in case. I turned in my lease, fully paid, in XXXX. In later XXXX I received a bill from Toyota for excess wear & tear due to damage from the gunshot. I called Toyota and my insurance company. I was assured by my insurance company that they would take care of it, and Toyota was well aware that I was not responsible for the payment. However, in XXXX I received a collections letter threatening litigation on behalf of Toyota for the same bill. I wrote the collections company a letter and immediately contacted an agent at my insurance company. I was told they were still working to resolve the claim, and they apologized that I had been contacted by a collections company. I eventually had to conduct a three-way call between my insurance company and the collections company in order to authorize the collections company on behalf of Toyota settle the matter with my insurance company. After it was resolved I spoke to Toyota and was assured that this would not have any impact on my credit, and Toyota apologized for placing the bill in collections in the first place. Nearly 2 years later while applying for a loan I discovered that I had a Toyota account reported to the credit bureaus as a collection, which lowered my credit score by over 100 points, and disqualified me from loans. This account never should have been marked as a collection, and never reported to the credit bureaus as such.
