Complaint: I have an account with TCF.I had about XXXX items hit ( all under {$25.00} ) and they were deducted from my available yet still in pending.This brought my balance down to {$90.00}. A check hit for {$120.00} causing me to over draft.At this point I knew I would have one fee as I was unaware my daughters daycare was taking that out, but that was ok.The next day I received my daily email from TCF stating they were assessing my XXXX overdrafts as they sat on those other charges for 5 days! Even though they deducted them from my balance they added them back, then added the overdrafts THEN an the charges. These had already been deducted form my balance at this point.So they went back to assign me fees.I have never seen anything like this in my life and it seems very unethical.After that they went on to charge me XXXX more!

Complaint: My bank checking was account was attempted to be scam in the amount of {$3200.00} but XXXX caught this and is now investigating this. Now in regards to this they have had {$3200.00} on hold from me gaining access to my money for 67 days which has caused me a financial hardship of not meeting my bills responsibilities on time and as a result of them doing so I had to join a debt relief program, have my credit go into negative reporting and lower credit score in which I feel they are responsible for this in not resolving their investigations in a timely manner.

Complaint: I utilize TCF Bank 's online bill pay.
TCF allows you to set a " deliver by '' date, which is great, except it rarely actually happens. Historically, my rent check is often delivered XXXX3 days AFTER the deliver by date.
I time my payments to correspond with my payroll deposits, to make sure that I am timely with my payments. I have payments going out biweekly. The payee in this case is my Chapter XXXX Trustee, for Bankruptcy repayment.
The payment that was to be delivered by XXXX XXXX, was sent on XXXX XXXX, and actually received on XXXX XXXX and then deposited on XXXX XXXX. Meaning that the check was processed two days prior to my direct deposit from my employer.
TCF then assessed an over draft fee for the {$500.00} Check, as well as an automated transfer to a small investing firm ( XXXX ). As my direct deposit would not be delivered to the account until roughly XXXX, XXXX XXXX there were no funds to cover the {$500.00} check.
Historically, all checks to this recipient have cleared the day AFTER the " Deliver by '' date.
It is my belief that this practice leaves open a potential for fraud, by processing mailed payment runs early, collecting overdraft fees and then hiding behind some disclaimer ( That I can no longer view on their site ).

Complaint: XXXX bank in Michigan refuses to cash a check drawn off their bank to a non customer unless the customer opens an account called XXXX. I have proper state issued drivers licenses and XXXX other forms of acceptable governmental ID. I do n't bank with them nor do i ever plan to but they should be required to honor checks written from their customers to others. I was told it was a federal regulation that required me to open this XXXX account. When I asked what federal regulation stated that " i am in banking and know every regulation like the XXXX '' I was told well we dont know but its a federal regulation and you MUST open this account.

Complaint: TCF Bank had been my bank for both Business and Personal accounts with all my accounts in good standing. In XXXX 2012 TCF Bank just decided to close all my accounts Personal accounts with no explanations. I went to several branch locations asking for an explanation but all I was told was that the bank does not want do any business with me and I was given like a week to withdraw all the funds that were in my account and leave the bank. Different branch branch managers could not explain to me what was going on except that the bank has a right to choose whom it wants to work with and that its exercising its rights by doing so. I continued asking for an explanation because the actions taken by TCF did hurt me a lot, as checks were returned unpaid, operating a small business without an account created problems for me, also opening accounts, borrowing money etc. was a problem after that incident. The more I continued seeking for answers the less TCF Bank managers did not want to talk to me anymore. TCF Bank made me feel different unwanted, a criminal or someone not worthy to do business with even though I had a good track record with the bank. Then one of the managers told me that TCF Bank does that to some people from XXXX because they had a lot of problems with them and that I could be a victim of mistaken identity. I never stopped asking TCF Bank hoping that they will clear my name or at least tell me what is going on with my accounts but all they keep on telling me is that I will get a written response that never came. Then I was given a general statement by one manager that states that I could be a on the government sanction list or something bad. I have no criminal background or any records to support that. I have spent all my years in school working hard to improve my life. I come from a XXXX background and I am a law abiding citizen. It is scary to think that TCF Bank branded me a criminal or something bad that I am not. If they had questions it would have been better to ask me. It 's been years since this incident happened and today TCF Bank continue to label me what I am not and has never been. This level of discrimination should never be allowed, I could be of XXXX descent but I am a law abiding American citizen and deserve the right to be treated the same way as other Americans. Since TCF Bank branded me this way, its been painful and also to think that i could be on the government watch list is disturbing and frightening as I have committed no crime except what TCF Bank think. I do need an explanation from TCF Bank why they are discriminating against me, this is not right. I do have some names of some of the people who know about this case and my effort to get answers from TCF Bank. If TCF Bank is still investigating at least by now they should have something to support their decisions, it should be more than 10 years now considering when they decided to close my accounts to compile a report that I was promised. I am asking for your assistance to help me resolve this case and also get answers from TCF Bank why they are discriminating me from all the other Africans they continue to do business with. Why do I have to be treated in such a painful way for so long its torture, to be told by a Banker that the government may have ordered your accounts closed and are watching you because I could be a victim of mistaken identity on " the government sanction list ''. I do have names of some people who know this case Branch Manager at XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX TCF Branch Managers/Supervisors at XXXX XXXX and Uptown. I find this treatment wrong and TCF Bank should not be allowed to discriminate based on color, national origin, or any forms of discriminating even if they had a bad experience from such groups. I also ask the department to investigate other accounts that were closed by TCF Bank as I 'm not the only victim.
