Complaint: I had filed a fraud claim on a company that took money out of my account, and simply wanted to get my money back ( {$190.00} ). I figured it would be easy since I had n't signed a contract, nor did I authorize the payment. Within the week, I was issued a credit of {$190.00} to help me out until I get the refund, and a week later, the credit was withdrawn but yet to receive my refund. I was proceeded to be told that they had to notify the merchant about receiving the money, and that they had to give them 60 days to dispute the claim, and if it goes undisputed, I would receive my money. Within 30 days, the merchant called to notify me that they issued a charge back to my account, but my bank never received it. Now today, the 60th day has arrived, yet no money. I proceeded to call both my bank and then the merchant. The bank said that it is now going into an arbitration to get my money back, but this was new to me. They never disclosed this information about an arbitration before, and did not know I would wait another week. I was not given all the information, and was very frustrated because I am needing that money for food and gas. The merchant claims to have given back the money on XX/XX/XXXX and they e-mailed me that information, but my bank has no record of it. Then, another phone call to my bank resulted in my refund being received but was removed by branch management. Then, I was told the credit that was issued to me should never have been given to me, and I was also told that in the future, I " should n't be giving out my payment information '' which I thought was uncalled for, since she did n't know the whole story. I tried calling the branch that issued me the credit, but there was no number listed. I called the Customer Service again, and was given the number to then only be told that the money has yet to be received. I called the merchant, and they sent me information regarding the bank chargeback, and the merchant would not be able to discuss my account with the bank, nor would they have a record of when the bank contacted them because of some policy. Customer support for my bank was very disappointing, and frustrating. They gave me different scenarios for my problem, yet have no clear answer. It also seems they really made no attempt to contact the merchant, which makes me feel they are not working in my best interest.

Complaint: I closed my TCF Bank money market and CD on XXXX/XXXX/16. I never wrote a check or withdrew any money from these accts. I recived a letter dated XXXX/XXXX/16 stating my acct is overdrawn by {$110.00}.
On XXXX/XXXX/16, I called TCF Bank at XXXX, spoke with XXXX and XXXX, I was told I owe {$170.00}, and my money market acct is still open. How could it be open I osed the acct.
Since I read many complaints against TCF Bank, what they do is generate Bogus fees then sell to a collection agency.
This bank is dishonest. Why is TCF bank still in business?

Complaint: I had several items hit my account this week, I knew I would have a couple overdraft charges and was fine with that as I needed to go over and accounted for it. I did not account for XXXX overdrafts!!! I am charged almost {$200.00} in fees XXXX of which were not even putting me in overdraft, they give a bogus reason of it might have caused an overdraft and still charged me the fees but I was not negative except in the hold which also makes no sense. I should have gotten XXXX fees at the most, not XXXX!!! They always do this and it seems so unethical and wrong, how can they charge me when I had the money just for a hold?!!!!

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, 2016, I ordered XXXX tickets to an event that was to be held on XXXX XXXX using my TCF Back debit card online through the Dinner Lab website -- no PIN used. I was charged {$180.00} for the transaction.
On XXXX XXXX, 2016, I received an email from the XXXX XXXX that they were ceasing operations immediately. I responded to the email asking when I could expect credit for the purchase and received a reply of the same text that was sent saying they were out of business.
I contacted TCF Bank by phone on XXXX XXXX to dispute the charge and was told they would contact the merchant. TCF Bank did n't ask for any of the messages sent or received from XXXX XXXX.
I have followed up with TCF Bank several times by phone and was told repeatedly that the merchant had until XXXX XXXX, 2016 to respond to them, at which time they would make their determination as to a credit to my checking account.
As of XXXX XXXX, 2016, I have not received any info from TCF Bank.

Complaint: I requested a payoff letter for my loan and was told it would take 5 business days to process my request. I explained that I needed to close on a refinance the next day and would come to the bank to collect the payoff amount in writing. The bank told me that they could not accommodate this. I explained that I would lose my lock on the rate and no fee refi, but it did not matter. They could not help me and would not issue a letter designating the 10 day payoff amount, even if I went to the bank to get it. The bank that is refinancing my loan was highly surprised as they could do this as a same day service and expected that TCF Bank could do this as well. I will need to resubmit my loan and lose the free refinance as well as an excellent rate.
