Complaint: I received a letter on behalf of TCF national bank from an attorneys office XXXX XXXX regarding Loan Number XXXX for property address XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX IL. XXXX. They are stating that if I do not pay the alleged amount of XXXX. this includes their attorney fees that they will begin foreclosure proceedings on my home.I am disputing TCF Banks claim that I owe them XXXX for a credit line I never was aware of or used. I never authorized this credit line, I believe the representative at TCF bank fraudulently took this credit line out in my name. The first time I became aware of this fraud was when I went to do a reversal mortgage and the attorney I saw for the reverse mortgage brought it to my attention. In between my health issues, I have gone to TCF on countless occasions over the past couple of years asking them to provide me with an explanation of where this money came from as I never took this money out, I never spent this money. TCF can not provide me with any documentation of where this credit line was in fact used who used it or how it was spent. I have complained to TCF many times and reported this fraud to the branch managers at several locations and each time they could provide me with no proof. They have also sent me to other branch locations per their direction to try and find out a solution or documentation about this matter. I have followed TCFS instructions to go to each branch they asked me to and documented who I spoke to all they did was give me the run around. They can not provide me with a signature on the back of the check they say they gave to me which they did not. I am asking that you help me they committed fraud against me and took advantage of my health conditions at the time and now I may lose my home

Complaint: I had recently started banking with TCF bank because they were local. I had recently had my card number stolen from a different bank account with a different bank so I had to transfer fund from that account to the TCF account. The problem started when I noticed an unauthorized charge on my TCF checking account. I immediately called the bank to have it removed since I noticed that it made me go negative. After speaking with customer service they said they would have it removed within 24hours. I checked my account again later in the day and noticed that I was charged a {$37.00} dollar overdraft fee. Again, I immediately called the bank to talk to customer service about why I had been charged for an overdraft fee for an unauthorized charge. The customer service agent was clueless as to why I was charged for it but suspected it was from another transaction. After sitting on hold for 10 minutes waiting for them to sort things out they came back and told me a few transactions that were the cause but still did n't clarify. I explained to them that I was checking my account every day, multiple times a day so that was impossible. The customer service agent brought up an ATM transaction and asked me if I knew my account balance at that time. I explained to her that I did indeed know my balance at that time because I checked the balance at the ATM before I withdrew cash. I explained to her that I check my account every single day and it has not been negative. After getting the run around I simply asked if they could remove the fee since as my account stands, the only things causing a negative balance were their overdraft fee and the unauthorized charge. She said that they made the decision to not remove the charge. Clearly my account was not negative until the unauthorized charge appeared. They claim that my account went negative on XX/XX/XXXX which it did not. It was not until XX/XX/XXXX that my account was negative at which point I called immediately to dispute the unauthorized charge. I check my account multiple times every single day. If I was going to go negative I would have used my other bank account or transferred money from my other bank account. Aside from the fruitless overdraft fee, the company clearly lacks some of the technological advancements that other banks have now. Their mobile app is way below par and they still do not have mobile deposits. Their online banking absolutely terrible. It never reflects the correct balance! I have never seen this with any bank! I check it constantly and its so confusing, I feel like they have not updated their mobile and online banking for the sole purpose of confusing their customers. I dont understand why XXXX can always give an accurate and up to date account balance but TCF can not. Another problem is the direct deposit is the slowest process ever. When I had checks deposited to my XXXX account they showed up Friday, but with TCF I dont get my money until Monday! This has only added to my frustration. Another problem I 've experience with this bank is that they charge an " International Transfer Fee '' for buying XXXX. XXXX has never charged me for buying XXXX, and from what I understand, the IRS said XXXX should be treated as an asset and not a foreign currency. I wanted to support a local bank but after this I may just switch to a credit union. This company only wants to rip off its customers.

Complaint: I opened up a personal checking account with TCF Bank online on XX/XX/2017. They requested a supposed " credit check '', which I submitted to, but have never received the results of this supposed credit check. On XX/XX/2017 TCF Bank said via email that my account was opened, I received nothing. On XX/XX/2017 they told me via email that my debit card was in the mail. I received this debit card on XX/XX/2017, which had the wrong name on it! I have absolutely no idea how TCF Bank came up with this wrong name after supposedly doing a credit check. The name was not XXXX, but instead is XXXX! Who is that? I have no idea. On that same date, I called their 800 number. They told me to go into the local bank and that they could change it and issue me a new card. I told them that the local bank could not print out a new debit card, but their on the phone support said that they could. I went into the TCF Bank located at : XXXX, XXXX, MI XXXX on this same date, which again was XX/XX/2017. I took in the card and ID, told them it had the wrong name, they had no idea what I was talking about. They got that particular bank manager to come over, she had no clue what I was talking about. The wrong name! So they had me fill out a name change form. Why? I have no idea. Because they do not know what they are doing at this location either. I did the name change form. They said a new card with the correct name would be mailed out in 2 business days. Fast forward a week later, no card and name on account is still wrong. I call the 800 number for TCF Bank on XX/XX/2017, she calls the local bank in XXXX, MI. The location in XXXX, MI never even sent in this name change form! So it was sitting at this office for an entire week, with my personal information on it, plus my Social Security number. This is outrageous for a bank! Who trains these idiots? The lady on the phone says again, the name will be changed in 2 business days and a new card mailed out. It is currently XX/XX/2017 and I just logged into my TCF Bank account, the name is still wrong! It is still listed as XXXX. This is direct deposit from Social Security. This is a lump sum for Social Security XXXX because I am XXXX, as per the Federal Govt. figured out. I do not appreciate being treated like this by TCF Bank. I currently do not have access to my funds either! I do not have any ID to match to the account or the bank debit card that says my name is XXXX. I have given them over a week and a half for a simple name change, that should not have been wrong in the first place. It is still wrong.

Complaint: I have an auto loan with gateway one lending and another with a different bank and the payments are 5 days apart. so I split the payments and pay both every two weeks. I noticed my payments were n't going to the principle so I emailed asking why. I get a response, to me seemed very rude and sarcastic. I then made a partial payment like I always do and the following day I started to get calls saying I need to make my payment. I again emailed them in a stern sense saying they just too a payment and they clearly know what I 've been doing for the last few months. did n't hear anything back until I get a voicemail of a lady talking to someone saying, I guess we can scare her into making her payments, even then that wo n't help. she then called back again and I told her what I heard. she had no problem getting a manager. the manager got on the phone and to me seemed to down play it, oh, well we do n't do that here, im sorry. but still insisted that I needed to make a payment on post date one. he took off late fees and did n't charge me the 10 dollar over the phone processing fee and said he would email me my transaction and if I have any other concerns to let him know. well, I have n't gotten that email yet. this is disturbing to me that they feel they need to talk XXXX about a client to another associate. they always get their money. I bought the vehicle XX/XX/2016 and it 's a year later and I 've barely knocked XXXX off the loan. my payments are XXXX a month.in 12 months that 's XXXX dollars and if you took that and split between principle and interest that 's still XXXX dollars. it does n't add up to where my money is going. Im trying to build my credit back up and this company is hurting me. they report to the credit company everytime I 'm late. It just does n't sit well with me, I have to wonder, when they call am I going to be threatened. not to mention they call before XXXX, they will call me 2 or 3 times then call my husband while at work. now I have to worry, if I make a payment is it going to the right thing, are they going to send sone one to come get my truck, because I making a partial payment twice a month is n't good enough or are they going to leave another threatening voicemail. please can someone help me?

Complaint: I obtained a vehicle loan with Gateway One lending and Finance in XXXX of XXXX on a XXXX XXXX XXXX. The car was repossessed in XXXX of XXXX, however I did not receive information as far as the date of the auction, location, or the amount the car was purchased for. I was checking my credit report and notice I had an outstanding balance remaining on the account for {$22000.00}. I did not purchase the car new and had missed XXXX payments prior to repossession. I do not understand why the outstanding balance is so high or why I was not noticed of what the car was sold for. I also do not believe the balance listed on my credit report is accurate. I would like to see physical proof of what the lender received for the car, and the balance owed corrected.

Complaint: TCF bank charged me overdraft fees for over {$500.00} for a nsf of less than {$20.00}. They had never formally notified the customers of this change of fee, either by posting, letters in the mail or advertising. I was not aware of this ridiculous amount until I reviewed my account for the balance. I had written letters to them but never got a response. I had to pay off the fees and close the account to avoid being flagged for future banking business.

I have not or nor have I started business with the company stated which is Gateway One lending and Finance XXXX, CA XXXX. I have not requested any Car loans or vehicle lending service. I submit in full confidence that this is a major error that has and could still negatively affect me. I require a release from this company in writing to have this removed from my credit report. Despite having over XXXX consumer complaints on the bbb, I am sure I can seek and receive a satisfactory outcome in this matter. If you could, once confirmed please send a letter via through the cfpb portal so that I can have a copy on hand. Thank you.

Complaint: I was denied a re-finance mortgage of real estate by TCF Bank. The approval process took almost a year, with multiple delays created by the bank. I spent nearly {$600.00} in appraisal fees, and nearly one year of time attempting to secure this loan. I took another job during the inordinate amount of time that the Bank took and that became the reason for the denial of my loan. They delayed the loan by asking for the same documents repeatedly. They used other time delay tactics like going " dark '' and not communicating the status of the loan. The bank would ask for repairs for be done to the property that did not need to be done for non-existent issues. The bank also requested that a re-inspection be done after the repairs for the non-existent issues were done. The bank then asked for a certification from a licensed " roofing-professional ' to be provided. This professional license does not exist in the state the property is in, so the request was nonsensical and impossible to obtain.
