Complaint: I 've been charged additional overdraft fees and I do n't understand Tcf practices. I have called and went into the branch several times to try and get help but it appears the people working for the company does n't understand the practices either. My online account never shows my end of day balance as negative however I keep getting charged fees. I have pending transactions they make me negative but I was told if I make a deposit before XXXX I would n't get charged fees. How am I getting charged fees for items that have n't posted yet? I have had this same issue before and I believe Tcf had practices that intentionally takes money from cudtomers. I was told it was a tool to help me and I 've done nothing but give my money to the bank.

Complaint: TCF continues to re-order my transactions to charge me EXTREMELY high over draft fees, in the last 30 days TCF has charged me over XXXX in OD fees!! I would like a full accounting of the amount of fee 's since XX/XX/XXXX on my account! They continue to re-order pending transactions that have already cleared. Just a couple months ago my account was OD by around 8 dollars.. they re-ordered already pending ATM transactions to charge me over {$150.00} in OD fees! When I called to discuss I was told TCF does not do any OD refunds at all but they would waive half! This abusive practice is ridiculous and is NOT practiced by other banks. I am fully prepared to retain a consumer protection attorney if needed. Please send me a full accounting of the money I have been charged for erroneous OD fee 's for the full year. I would like my money back this is going to make me bankrupt!

Complaint: I called Gateway One Lending and Finance at XXXX to payoff my car loan and they wouldn't take my payment. I pay online and they wouldn't take that payment either. They don't have a way to process the closing in the same manner that I was instructed to make payments and find this feels like a usury situation as they are forcing me to stay in the loan and pay interest that I would like to pay off. I contacted the company and they said they couldn't help.

Complaint: I have been processing a 2nd mortgage for a home purchase through TCF Bank. They have approved the loan then kept finding little things to update and request changed ; most recently they forced our appraiser to update their appraisal for frankly frivolous reasons. Finally, today, they told my broker that he should withdraw the loan as fraud to avoid getting into trouble. I have a seller threatening to withdraw from the contract and charging me $ XXXX /day to keep the purchase alive and TCF is playing psychotic games and throwing insulting comments about terrorists and strawma n purchases. They have been abusive and defamatory.

There was a payment made to TCF bank, but now they are reporting to my credit report as a collection. I am in the process of purchasing a home and now this comes out of nowhere, I thought once I paid them I was completely done with this company ... This bank and their collection has caused my score to completely drop horribly even after they were paid their {$99.00} now they are asking for more ... I want this company to remove this acct from my credit report, its unfortunate that they do not keep accurate records.

Complaint: First I would like to say as a whole Gateway One Lending feels like they are untouchable and create there own rules and persistently violates federal banking laws which I will disclose below. # 1. Gateway One several years back fraudulently and without my knowledge or consent opened a bank account in my name with TCF Bank, When I contacted them about this issue I was told by there staff that this was a partner bank of Gateway One and was told " Why am I upset I am free to use the account they even put {$5.00} in it as goodwill '' I Informed there staff that I do not care about {$5.00} that is is illegal it amounts to identify theft as no where in my contract did I ever grant them power of attorney to open the account, I was then informed that they were in the process of merging and if I closed they account they would refuse to take payments and then force repossession. # 2. After you are a day late they begin to harass my self, my employer, friends and family even after being demanded never to contact those locations again by both email and verbal calls. on some days they would call 9 times through the day they would also disclose the reason they are calling to family and friends. # 3 Gateway One illegally stalks and calls random people if they believe there is a link between myself and them for example in Florida there happens to be a few other families with the same last name as myself we have no relation to one another, we do not live in the same city and have never shared an address but we have met each other I was informed by them that Gateway One had called them expelling they are a debt collector looking for myself, They have also called distant relatives that were never placed on my loan as contacts can called them multiple times ( 1 of which is a high ranking XXXX with the State of Florida XXXX ) even after I instructed them and sent emails to stop, They have even gone as far as calling friend or affiliates and telling my employer all after being told not to call we had 2 high ranking members of my employer ask them never to call again and that never stopped them. # 4 they lock your account from online payments once you are near 30 days past due to charge you an additional late fee, interest, and then they charge you a phone payment fee because they block your account from online payment In a sense they double charge you a late fee because they will only accept a phone payment once you are late then they charge you to make a phone payment. # 5 even if you make a payment on time they will mark your credit report as late on 4 occasions I have had to dispute wrong information on my report all thought once the dispute was sent out by XXXX they corrected on 1 instance they did not and when I called they requested me make a payment before the due date if I wanted assitance. # 6 they changed my due date several times without my permission. # 7 they will send a statement with incorrect or misleading information such as due dates and they will often send a statement many days after the payment was due sometimes even a month after the payment was due you will get a statement that says printed date for example X/XX/2017 then it will say for example due date X/X/2017 so if you make a payment you will owe a late fee, interest and there hidden phone payment fee. # 8 I have always sent {$15.00} extra on every payment but somehow all that extra payments vanish into air, they were instructed by me to place all extra payments towards principal not to just apply to next payment. # 9 I refused Gap coverage at the dealership ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) I was then told 72 hours later I had to come back and accept gap coverage or I had to return the card to the dealership and forfeit the down payment so I was bullied into taking the coverage I was then told I could cancel it within 30 days for a full refund but when I called gateway on the refused and told me it was required on each loan or face repossession so I sent a formal letter but it wen unanswered just like every other request made to them weather its by email, on there website contact button, via postal mail or by phone they do what they want I have kept copies of all emails & traditional mail sent, I have lost thousands of dollars dealing with these swindlers, I have been embarrassed by all there calls and defamation, I have been a victim of identify theft by them opening an account I have been unaware of and who knows what else I will find, I have been waiting to make a report but one time I threatened to make a report and Gateway One staff mad e threat to me that any reports to government agencies will result in them refusing payments while the investigate complaint and will result in repossession. I have made my final payoff today that 's why I feel safe to make a report without fear of retaliation, like I was threatened. And also if you try calling them from one of our company recorded lines they will refuse to talk to you. I would like the government to take action so no other American has to be a victim of this company. I would be more then happy to appear at any court hearing against Gateway One. I will also be reporting this to all attorney generals in states they do business as will any other regulatory agency that overseas them.
