Complaint: I am Contacting youll in need of desperate help.I recently just tried to get me a credit card through XXXX XXXX XXXX but I got denied because there are some credit cards open in my name which I have no knowledge of I am currently a victim of fraud since about XXXX or maybe even XXXX it started off when my mom got evicted and all of our stuff was locked In the house every since than my life has been a living XXXX I am a young mother trying to build credit so I can move further in life to better me and my child but there are so many things holding me back due to this fraudulent activity..The banks the company has notified me about are XXXX XXXX and TCF I am so lost at this moment because I never even had a account XXXX would have been my first step of bettering my credit! Complaint: I applied for and opened a free checking account with TCF bank on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX, as I was browsing for a new bank and thought to give them a try. I funded my account with a {$500.00} transfer from my existing XXXX checking account on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. A member of XXXX 's loss prevention team called TCF to verify my account with TCF was in fact controlled by me when I initiated the transfer, and then TCF inexplicably closed my account the same day ( see attached ).
I contacted their customer care account on twitter, @ TCFCares, and spoke to a man named XXXX. He gave me his phone number as well XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ext XXXX ), and we spoke. He explained that XXXX needed to call TCF again to verify my account was not fraudulent, and so I called the XXXX, IL XXXX branch.
I spoke to XXXX XXXX, who is a XXXX XXXX at that location, and she called TCF and explained that yes, my account is legitimate and that the transfer for {$500.00} was in fact initiated by me. I verified my identity with her by going into the branch with my identity documents ( photo ID and a Chase credit card of mine ), and also verified the account at TCF was mine by bringing in the documents I 'd received from TCF in the mail.
After this, TCF insisted that I had to actually come into a branch with my identity documents to verify who I was with them. I tried to explain that I live XXXX miles away from the closest branch in XXXX, IL, but XXXX said there was no other way. So, I drove to the branch with my identity documents ( SSN card, photo ID, recent utility bill ) and the XXXX ( XXXX, business card attached XXXX told me that she had submitted my paperwork to the 'back office ' but that I would have to wait XXXX business days for a response. I was logging in to the TCF online banking website every day thinking I 'd get a message there or just see that my account was now 'Open ', but I never heard anything.
By the XXXX business day, I contacted XXXX again and explained that I had n't received an update. He contacted the management at the XXXX location I 'd visited XXXX branch XXXX XXXX XXXX, business card attached ) and then told me that they said because my account was still closed, there was nothing they could do and that I would have to come into the branch again in order to withdraw my funds. I again drove XXXX miles each way to make my withdrawal and close the account, and XXXX informed me that my account was listed under 'Hot file ', which indicated it was still considered fraudulent.
XXXX verified with XXXX XXXX that XXXX had contacted him earlier in the day about my situation and that I should be allowed to withdraw my funds with my photo ID and just XXXX of the documents I 'd received from TCF, provided me my funds, and closed my account permanently.

Complaint: A bank account with TCF Bank had a hold placed upon it on XXXX XXXX, a hold that was placed as a request to " close '' the account was processed.
Subsequently two more checks were deposited into the account because the close never went through, on XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX.
TCF instructed the complainant to submit a notarized, overnight-ed letter with account information where the funds should be deposited. That letter was sent, and the funds were never transferred.
The complainant then called TCF again on XXXX XXXX, and was told that they had mailed the check sending the funds for the XXXX XXXX deposit. That check arrived on XXXX XXXX. During the same conversation, was told they would cut and mail a new check immediately to transfer the funds from XXXX XXXX deposit.
As of today ( XXXX XXXX ) that check was not received. XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ) TCF was called again, and said they were unsure whether or not a check had been mailed ( although more than 10 business days had passed ). Was told to pay for another notarized letter to be sent to TCF, at which point they can cut him a check for the remaining funds.
It has now been 28 days since TCF has held onto complainant 's funds.

Complaint: My account went overdrawn and I have never had a refund on this account before, I called tcf and asked for a credit of the nsf fees and was given two credits for {$15.00}. I feel tcf intentionally charges customer overdrafts and never wants to reverse any. I have called 4 times and just do n't have the time to continue to call. I just got back to work from being off medical and do n't intend to overdraft again

Complaint: Well, it all started with the first time I filed a complaint with the company. ( I got behind on a few payments because I had close to 1,000 dollars taken from my account with out my knowledge or my consent. And because of that happening 5 of my bills did n't get paid. ) I was hoping that things were going to get better, but clearly they did n't. After the first complaint i was told I would be contacted through email and that when I called in I would only speak to one individual only, and her name was XXXX. I had set up payments for every 2 weeks and when those payments were made I called in again and set up more payments. Back in XXXX I noticed that a payment that I knew I had set up has n't been made I called in to see what was going on and she told me that the payment came back with non sufficient funds. Well, that was a lie, because there was PLENTY of money in the account and I never got a fee from my bank for a return check fee. But i just ignored it and set up more payments. When I called the last few times to set up my payments I was un able to get ahold of XXXX. The person that took my call could n't tell me her extension or even had a clue who she was. I guess with my account being locked to regular associates ( because I 've been told it has been locked and I had to be trandfered ) they assumed who to send my call to being as they had to transfer me in the past. Anyways, I had looked at my online account 2 weeks ago to see how things were going i noticed it said I was behind nearly 2,000 dollars. Right there I knew something was wrong so I called in, the first girl that I spoke to said I would be transferred to the right department but she could n't tell me, she just transferred me. I left a message tell them it 's urgent they called me back. The next day I called again and the guy said he needed to transfer me. First he said that I was in the repossession department, then he said no, that is wrong that was flagged and i was in the cease and desist department. I called and left a message there. I never got a call back from anyone. I waited a day to see if they would call back and all of a sudden I get a knock at my door and my vehicle is being repossed. I never got a letter or email regarding this. Now my vehicle is in some lot I do n't know where with my belongings in it. The gentlemen says by law I have 10 days to get it back I just need to call the company to see what I have to do. Then he mentions I need to do it quick because a transport may be in the area and could take my vehicle and I 'm left with this loan with no vehicle to show for. I am very disappointed. This company is very unprofessional. They have 2 offices, one in Florida and one in California. The individual I 'm trying to get intouch with to see what 's next was gone for the day, but that seems to be the answer I get every time I called. If they say they are open to a certain time Pacific time they should still be open. So I feel like I 'm being docked around and treated very poorly. When I 've been trying to call and keep in touch and get this handled. And with me paying every two weeks of XXXX dollars I do n't understand how in the world I am XXXX dollars behind. Where is my money going?? I 've been trying to get answers but no one will answer me, they just go and take my vehicle.

Complaint: I opened an TCF fee free checking account over the phone on XX/XX/XXXX. I gave the representative the promo code XXXX and was told it would be deposited to my account after I met the necessary requirements. According to the terms and conditions it stated we will deposit {$250.00} into your account next business day following criteria verification. I still have not received the bonus after meeting the criteria of using my debit card for a {$250.00} purchase.

Complaint: I was charged {$400.00} in " overdraft '' fees this past week which will cause more overdraft from another auto payment. I was charged multiple times for the same transaction, twice. One of the transactions was not authorized and was charged two times for that transaction. Customer service stated to me that it " was not their problem and we do not reverse any fees '' whether right or wrong. I believe this is bad business practice and is over excessive getting charged {$180.00} for a {$30.00} transaction that I did not authorize. I believe this bank preys on their customers with fees and something needs to be done.

Complaint: Reference Complaint ID XXXX. Lender started calling again from a local phone number ( XXXX ) XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX ( Arizona time ). Gateway One Lending and Finance called me again on XX/XX/XXXX. The representative 's name was XXXX and they wanted to discuss payment for an XXXX. I have already informed this company back on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX that I was n't the XXXX XXXX they were looking for. They apologized and said that the person doing the investigations was new and in training. They said they would n't call me anymore. Well, it 's 3 months later and they 've started calling me again. I told XXXX, it was n't me and he asked me, did n't you just say your name was XXXX XXXX? '' I said it was but I 'm not the XXXX XXXX from XXXX, CA who bought an XXXX. I told him I 've already gone round and round with their staff back in XX/XX/XXXX. I asked for a letter resolving this issue and I never received anything. I requested to speak with a supervisor. Will put me on hold and then came back and said his supervisor was n't available at the moment. I asked for that supervisor to contact me to have this resolved.

Complaint: I have made all payments on time or early. I made a payment on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX the payment I made to them was refunded back to me. I called them and asked them why the payment was refunded and they said they were n't sure but my account was labeled paid in full so they told me not to worry about it. 15 days later I received a call from them stating my payment had not been made and that my account was delinquent. I told them what I was told the last time I spoke with them and how they said I was all paid up. I also told them about the payment being refunded. I also had my bank fax them proof that the payment was made and then refunded. They have disregarded all of this and continue to call me every 7 days threatening to take my car away and ruin my credit. I am a XXXX woman in her XXXX 's and I do n't know what else to do about this.
