Dealing with your lender or servicer

Student loan: Private student loan

Problem with customer service
Complaint: I have had problems making payments to the student loan company, XXXX XXXX, for a couple of months now! I have used all of my forbearance and now my loan is in a default! I also tried doing a lower payment plan and I am just still having a hard time due to being a stay at home mom and my husband is the only one with the income! My family is my top priority and we have to make sure we have things we need and especially my son! Anyways, I had talked to corporate from XXXX XXXX recently and she lies to me by getting my mother involved saying that she had spoke to her and that she was going to call all these companies to try and help me and that she has faith in my mother that she is able to help me and if I made this payment then it would by her some time to help me ( still talking about my mother ) so of course I fell into the trap and made a payment on my credit card because I had no money and when I talked to my mother she said that is not true, I said nothing of that!! So this woman lied to me to get some money from me!! You dont bring someones family member into the issue! Thats very wrong! I also had another incident where the woman on the other line of XXXX XXXX got a attitude with me because I couldnt make a payment and she tells me then what was the point of calling if you cant make this payment?! They also added XXXX of interest to my loan because of my forbearance! Thats absolutely crazy! You can never get it paid off!

Problem with customer service
Complaint: We have requested a statement for the recently disbursed student loan from XXXX so so that we can refinance the loan at a lower rate. The agent stated that the loan does not have a payment due and an interim statement can not be printed. The agent advised that the grace period is 6 months and an official billing statement may not be provided before that time. Debt collection: Private student loan debt

Frequent or repeated calls
Complaint: I had a loan with XXXX XXXX and after trying to work with them in 2017 to see what I could do to make payments since I couldnt afford them. I was told to apply for a forbearance or deferment right away without getting the option to see about an income driven repayment plan. Not only was I not aware of this but I was told I needed to pay {$50.00} dollars to be put into a forberence state which I couldnt afford to pay since I was living paycheck to paycheck just trying to survive. After all this happened, I stopped answering there phone calls for a short time to reset my thoughts and see about options. The very next time I communicated with them. They were rude, disrespectful and wouldnt let me talk without them talking over me. At the end of the phone call. I told them to stop calling me and to leave me alone. No sooner then the very next day, I started getting phone calls from them day after day after day. I answered quit a few times and told them to stop calling me especially since I was at work the majority of the time but still had no luck. The very last time they called me, I recieved a letter in the mail a couple days later saying they sold my loan to another company. My loan at the time with XXXX XXXX was around 5,800 dollars. By the end of everything when the loan sold, its over 8,000 now.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: This is a long story, so I will try and shorten it as much as I can : I have had my XXXX XXXX student loan for a number of years, and had no issues. My payments were approximately {$90.00} a month, which I had set up on auto pay at {$45.00} every 2 weeks. This in turn actually makes one extra payment a year, so I was paying MORE than I needed to. Then, in XX/XX/XXXX/XX/XX/2018 I receive a letter that states my loan is going into collections. It turns out that all of the payments that I was making through my XXXX XXXX XXXX bill pay, which were auto payments, were being returned. This is a bill pay account, so I do not check this on a regular basis. I called in when I saw the letter and spoke to a representative. I have never been met with such a rude representative in my life! I explained what was happening and asked why my payments were being returned. The guy said it was an error at my bank. He said that I have not made any payments since XX/XX/2018, which was false! I checked with my bank and it was XXXX XXXX that was returning the payments. He then said, we've sent you letters. I'm sorry - I do not open bills when I know they are setup for auto pay. I have no need. I take blame for THAT part at least. So he then starts asking me if I can pay the loan off. It has a collection balance of {$1300.00} and said I would never get the offer again to settle the loan. Of course I could not pay it then. He then says to me, well if the money was returned you should have it to give to me, unless you spent it all, so I will need that payment today. I refused. He pressed and pressed the issue when I finally said, Well, first of all, I have a mortgage to pay, so I apologize, I am not going to be able to stroke you a {$1300.00} check. He says, well I will be sure and let my people know that your mortgage is more important than us. Yes, you do that, because it is! He continued to be the most rude and nasty and antagonistic person that I have ever had to speak with in any customer service situation. When I finally hung up, I started having severe anxiety and panic attacks and had done so for days after. I called back a month or so later and spoke with someone different in hopes to get some resolution. It was the same thing. They have the loan charged off and she offered a settlement of {$1300.00}. She said they could not reinstate my loan so that I can continue to make payments on it. I explained how I had made all of the payments and it was SM that was returning them. This representative then said that sometimes on bill pay, if the money isn't in the bank, it will be returned by the company. What?!?! I had to explain to this brainiac that if the money isn't in the bank account, it will not even be withdrawn to be sent to a vendor for payment!! These are the people that are handling accounts!? No wonder!? It's pretty cut and dry : It was withdrawn from my account, sent to XXXX XXXX, not applied by XXXX XXXX, and then returned about a month later to my bank FROM XXXX XXXX!!!! I won't pay the loan if it has been charged off. I will be disputing with the credit bureau, consumer affairs, and letting everyone I know how XXXX XXXX treats people. This was their mistake ... .not mine. I have attached the document that clearly shows where XXXX XXXX XXXX withdrew the money. XXXX XXXX really needs to get their stuff together! Oh, let 's also mention that I did call them in XX/XX/XXXX after the hurricane hit our area to ask about a forbearance simply because XXXX had automatically placed one on my accounts due to the hurricane. XXXX XXXX offered nothing, which was fine, I was just checking to see if they would. But NOTHING was mentioned at that time about me being past due!!!!!

Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Problem with personal statement of dispute
Complaint: On XXXX XXXX I received documentation that my request to remove my cosigner was denied for " insufficient income for amount of credit requested ''. For a number of reasons I believe this determination is unjust and inappropriate for my current financial situation and the current guidelines in place by XXXX XXXX to remove a cosigner. No where in the application does it state that I must have a certain dollar amount of income yearly to be approved for the cosigner to be removed, even with that being said I make a very decent amount of income for my age and debt- very easily making monthly payments. According the cosigner release form the guidelines to be met are of the following : I must complete the entire application, which I did. I must meet the age requirement of 18, which I have. Provide graduation completion documentation, which I did. Be a US Citizen, which I am and forever will be. Provide proof of income, I provided my recent pay stub along with my W2- with a very reasonable income. Be current on my service loans and with in the past 12 months, which I have been in repayment for over a year now and have never missed a payment. The next is demonstrated a satisfactory payment history for the last 12 months. And finally no student loans in hardship or forbearance, which I have never had. They did state they would run a credit report the support the fact that I will be able to assume full responsibility for repayment of loans and to make sure there are no signs of bankruptcy, open foreclosure, student loan default or delinquencies. So at meeting all these guidelines and applying, I had no concerns of having my application not being accepted. Then when I received the form on XX/XX/XXXX stating my income was unsatisfactory, I strongly disagreed. On XX/XX/XXXX I requested a form from XXXX to dig further into why I may have not been accepted. The same time I had called and spoke to XXXX XXXX about it and the representative told me that I had no grounds to dispute the subject. I am currently awaiting a response from XXXX on the grounds that they used my old income to calculate the report versus the W2 I had submitted. I have a decent credit score and steady income, currently I have no assistance from the cosigner on my loans and am making payments in full.

Dealing with your lender or servicer

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: In early XX/XX/XXXX, I co-signed for a Parent Plus Student Loan ( XXXX XXXX ) I was told by the financial aide at the school that this was the only way to ensure my daughter would be able to continue her education. I had given the school {$10000.00} upon her enrollment. The 1st loan ( {$7300.00} ) was completed over the phone ( XX/XX/XXXX ), I was told it was recorded for verification. I agreed to pay interest only on that loan. To date Ive paid approximately {$3400.00}. During this same period my daughter was given an unsubscribed loan from XXXX ( {$5400.00} ), even though I was told she could not qualify for this. The next Parent Plus Loan was on XX/XX/XXXX ( {$12000.00} ). I was never notified, called or was aware that this took place until XX/XX/XXXX. The discovery was brought to my attention upon graduation. I went to the school and met with Dean of Students, Financial Director and Student Advisor. Together we went over my daughters ledger. That loan was supposedly authorized by me and I allegedly agreed to defer interest. That never occurred. During this same period she was given another personal XXXX Loan ( {$3000.00} ). The 3rd Parent Plus Loan was on XX/XX/XXXX for {$2900.00}. I was called an again agreed on phone to interest only on a recorded line. To date Ive paid {$1000.00}. This loan is not anywhere on her ledger sheet, Ive repeatedly asked for XXXX XXXX to investigate all inconsistencies stated above. I was told this was my problem and to go to school to straighten this out unfortunately the school is closed. During this same time XXXX gave my daughter another unsubscribe loan for {$3700.00}. XXXX XXXX has threatened me to charge my daughter with fraud, and for me to call the police dept. Ive asked them to put the matter on hold until I could try to gather information. They have ignored my requests and reported my late payments to Credit Bureau. This is unfair and not necessary. Once I began my research Ive discovered that the XXXX XXXX of Michigan and XXXX XXXX have numerous law suits for these practices. Ive retained legal representation for these matters. We have not filed any actions as yet. I was also told by the school that their XXXX XXXX loans were competitively priced. # 1 is at 9.75 % # 2 is at 11.00 % # 3 is at 9.25 %, far from competitive. Ive attached a recent letter I sent to XXXX XXXX via registered mail.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Hello, I have had a debt ( {$24000.00} ) with the company XXXX XXXX since XX/XX/XXXX, which has been precarious for I had relied on Military benefits to repay, but which I eventually learned would not come, and have not been in the United States until one year ago to rebuild my life here. In acknowledgment of my failure to make these payments, I do not condone the tactics taken by XXXX XXXX to collect these debts. When the company realized my mother, the cosigner, had lost her fiance on XX/XX/XXXX, they immediately looked into his assets and determined they would intimidate her days after his death to take advantage of her grief with unclear threats. XXXX XXXX ( Employee ID # XXXX ) was the collector making the calls and threats, intimidating my mom on the day of her finance 's funeral, XX/XX/XXXX after a time trying to get my mom to warm up to her. My mother was shaken from the death, and wanted XXXX to stop harassing her and eventually gave in to the money drop on XX/XX/XXXX with a {$2000.00} credit card payment, yet that money itself is more debt than my mom is able to handle herself. But they wanted more, {$14000.00} in total to keep my moms name off of the contract, and continued to harass for any possible way to make large lump sums with me beginning on XX/XX/XXXX. Then XXXX found my brother 's cell phone number and began to harass him on XX/XX/XXXX. I have repeatedly stated we are not in a position to make large lump sum payments, and must sort out a monthly plan, which they repeatedly refused to consider. I find this unethical, given I spent most of this last year working for a XXXX XXXX XXXX that XXXX XXXX XXXX with helping the XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ), which is why I am struggling to build back money to sustain myself and help my mother who now carry 's even her hXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I am seeking to coordinate this into a monthly payment until I am able to get back on my feet. Thank you for your time.

Student loan: Private student loan

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I applied for one of the two loans from XXXX XXXX for my daughter 's college tuition. In the beginning when I inquired about different aspects of the loan, before signing any document, I made several phone calls, and realized that the interest rate changed throughout the day which I thought was only for international currency exchanges. I also asked at least twice if I paid more than the monthly amount due, that the additional money would be used to pay down the principle and at least twice I was told yes. On XX/XX/XXXX, I called XXXX XXXX because I realized that the extra money I had sent in was not being applied to the principle of the one loan. After being kept on hold 10-15 minutes the person came back and said that the money had been put aside for future payments. I asked to speak to a supervisor more than once and I was never able to speak to one. I was told that " the supervisor would allow the money to be paid towards the principle of the one loan this time, but it could not be done in the future. '' I thought that this may be considered predatory lending with the amount of the interest, the misrepresentation of facts, and the inability to speak to a supervisor as if I was being put off and felt as if the company was involved in a scheme. This has affected credit reports for both myself and my daughter.

Complaint: I was approved for both Spring & Fall semesters when I applied XX/XX/2018. I am approved and the current status if 'certifying with school '. The financial aid department claims that they can not find the loan from XXXX, while XXXX states there's nothing they can do and to speak with the school. Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: I have been in contact with XXXX XXXX Customer Service for several month to reduce my payment and they are not willing to work with me. I have filled out 2 financial sheet and the rep discuss with me that I have a negative income and don't see why I couldn't get my payment lower. I keep going back and forth with them, telling me to call back to get the different answers/results. They are ignoring my complaint and concern. I have paid off the smaller loan of XXXX and still they will not work with me to lower my payment. I email XXXX XXXX to see if they will work with me, and was told that they would be able to lower my payment to what I requested but they also need to talk to my co-signer. Once my co-signer called he/she was told something different, that they will not lower the payments. I have been making small payments and they said that doesn't matter and now myself and the co-signer have a default/delinquent on our credit reports. I have been trying in good faith to pay something, but I'm not getting anywhere with them making XXXX hr job and other necessary living expenses and loans and the same goes for the co-signer.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: I took out my XXXX XXXX loan in order to go to college. I was told when I signed up that I would get the best customer service. However, ever since I have graduated in XX/XX/XXXX, I have had nothing but trouble from them. They immediately came after me for {$550.00} a month. I was able to get my account placed on a Graduate payment plan, but once it ended, I still was struggling to make payments as a recent graduate. When I contacted them, in XX/XX/XXXX and requested assistance in the form of refinancing due to an increase in my credit score, they refused and instead they placed me on an interest only repayment plan for {$300.00} a month, despite the fact that my cosigner had amazing credit. After that, they would make disrespectful, harassing and occasionally threatening calls to myself and my cosigner, who was in the hospital during one of these calls. While I understand that they are a business, these calls came when I was only two days late in payment, and when I had already called XXXX XXXX and informed them that I was waiting on a paycheck and then they would get their money. At one point, the person I spoke with talked down to me and told me that until I " learned to pay on time, I would continue getting the calls. '' Again, this would occur when I was only two to five days behind in payment on a {$300.00} dollar payment as a recent graduate. I have never been more than 28 days past due, and every time I have been past due has been due to some reason I can't control and that XXXX XXXX refuses to work with me on. Now, after a year of these " interest only payments '', my repayment plan is almost up and at the beginning of this year, my balance went up {$8000.00} and they expect me to begin paying them {$550.00} a month come XX/XX/XXXXXXXX. Every time I request some form of help due to being unable to handle the bill and support myself, they refused. I have no issues paying my bills, I am an accountant and I know bills must be paid. However, there is absolutely no reason that XXXX XXXX should be this inconsiderate and all together disrespectful towards their clients.
