Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: I have been trying to deal with XXXX for the last few years. They are very unhelpful and they will not give me realistic options to help with paying my student loan back. I do know that I took the loan out and I do plan on paying the loan back but I plan on paying it back the only way I can but they do not seem to work with you. I would rather see you starve or starve your family and all they are worried about is getting their payment. They make you think the only way you can go to college is through getting a loan with them and they take advantage of young kids. They are cheats and they need to pay. They harass my XXXX year old grandfather all the time because he was nice enough to cosign my loans. They call my work numerous times even after being told not to call them. I finally set up a payment and pay it for 3 months to come to find out that they only applied my payment to four of my loans and not all of them. But they failed to mention that to me also now two of my loans are behind which I had no clue. They are not here to help. They are making me think that the only way to get out of this situation is to XXXX XXXX. When researching online there is a large number of XXXX every year as a result of student loans. This needs to be stopped and this company needs to be stopped.

Closing an account

Checking or savings account: Savings account

Funds not received from closed account
Complaint: I have a savings account with XXXX XXXX Bank aka " XXXX ''. Today when I tried to log on, I received a message that my account was locked and a phone number to call. Upon calling that number, I was transferred to a " specialist '' by the name of XXXX ( employee number XXXX ) who informed me that my account was closed because my automatic contributions were being rejected by my checking account and further that I would not be able to log on to retrieve my statements, account number, or withdraw my existing balance of {$150.00}. When I asked for her supervisor, she told me that one was not available and hung up on me.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Can't temporarily delay making payments
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 at XXXX XXXX I called XXXX XXXX, to double check that my student loans are still in deferment, and would remain for the spring 2019 school year. I advised the agent, that I will be attending school full time spring of 2019. He advised me that my deferment ends in XXXX, and that my first payment will be due XX/XX/XXXX. He stated I only have 48 months available of deferment, I asked how could a payment be due while i'm enrolled full time in school. I asked, how much will the payment in XXXX be. He stated we don't know, and can't view that due to my account showing zero due, and currently being in deferment. I pulled up my account online on XX/XX/2019, for both of my student loans, and it show 's that my next payment isn't due until XX/XX/XXXX. Last time I checked In-school deferment is unlimited, as long as you are enrolled at least half time. Which I currently am. Why would my loan company tell me otherwise?

False statements or representation

Debt collection: Private student loan debt

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: I have had my credit report damaged due to XXXX XXXX XXXX mismanagement of this account that includes incorrect charges. Every time I call to deal with this problem, I am transferred around several times and then hung up on every time. I was then given a number that appears to be a SCAM number according to reports on the internet. I gave them my personal information and then hung up on. I believe this was a phishing number but I received this number from a XXXX XXXX representative. I would like to report this for further investigation. The number was XXXX. Please investigate!!! I am very concerned about the compromise of my personal information. Also, please reverse the late payment showing on my credit report because I did not ignore my account. I explained the information and gave my requests to the XXXX XXXX CSRs and they took my payments but my requests for a forbearance/deferment were repeatedly ignored. My requests to delete this debt from credit report were likewise ignored and no investigation was done. I would like any damage to my credit report to be corrected and an investigation into where my personal information went to as a result of XXXX XXXX. I also request all information regarding this alleged charge. Thank you.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: I began repaying my XXXX XXXX student loan in the earlier part of XX/XX/2017. I was ordered to pay around $ 1300/month. I did this for a few month but literally would be negative in my bank account or with just a few dollars left at the end of the month. Called XXXX XXXX to explain I couldnt afforded the current payment plan. The XXXX XXXX rep told me to let my account go into collections to prove I couldnt afford my current payment so that they would work with me to lower my monthly payments. I didnt know any better so I did exactly what she told me too. XXXX XXXX eventually called me and then offered to lower my monthly payments to $ XXXX/month. However this reduced payment plan only last 2yrs then it goes back up to $ XXXX/month. Also I fee that XXXX XXXX trapped me by telling me to let my loans go into collections because I cant even refinance the loans due to the collections being on my credit report.

Getting the loan

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Installment loan

Complaint: loan amount {$35000.00} denied on XX/XX/XXXX I received an advertisement from XXXX XXXX to apply for a pre-approved {$35000.00}. When my credit was checked they said my loan was pre-approved. Because I am self-employed I provided 12 Months Bank Statements to support my income. I was told I was denied because my debt ratios are too high. This would be fine if the statement was true. The fact is that my Income for the year was met with very few debts as evidenced by my Bank Statements and remaining balance. The High Debt ratio is false and misleading. There is no system in place to appeal false information and in addition, this places me in a position where now I have an inquiry on my credit report. It is a frustrating waste of time and effort. I believe that lending criteria should be clearly stated so that a Consumer doesn't wast his or her time and inadvertently reduce their Credit Score by adding inquiries to it.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: I took out a loan with XXXX XXXX, since then they have made it impossible to be able to afford the payments. My XXXX year old Grandmother who is XXXX on a fixed income co-signed for the loan. I have been asking for a payment that I can afford since the start of the loan because they make it unaffordable for both me and my grandmother to afford. I have asked them to stop calling her house because of the amount of stress that she is under after having a XXXX she can not take the harassment. I have tried to afford the payments but my job does not pay me enough and right now they are asking for 60 % of my check which leave me with a limited amount for rent, food gas car payment etc. They pretend to help but every time you call they tell you something different. They are purposely putting me in a position that is in place for me to continue to fall behind. I have asked them over and over for a lower payment and they keep giving me ones that I cant afford. I feel like I have no choice to except them because they are saying that its the only option. In the meantime they continue to tack on fees and try to get me to defer my loan which also tacks on fees. I would like them to take my grandmother off as a cosigner because I'm afraid that the stress will cause her to have another XXXX. the phone calls and letters are endless. I have told them that I need affordable payments over and over to no avail. They, set you up to fail by giving your 3 separate which makes it easy for them to give you payments that they know you cant afford. I would like to have one loan instead of 3. This is pure predatory lending on there part. I want to pay off my debt but I find it impossible because the more I pay the more fees that tack on because I can't keep up with the payments because I barely make enough to survive. I have a loan with the Federal government loan that I am trying to pay as well but, the fact that XXXX XXXX continues to try to take advantage of me is making it harder to survive.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I called XXXX XXXX customer service to see if I could get my monthly payment lowered because I was having difficulty making the monthly payment of XXXX. I was told there was nothing they could do since I had already used the 12 month forbearance. I discussed that I wanted to make monthly payments on the loan but was having difficulty paying the XXXX payment and asked to get lower, more affordable payments. I was told that the only option for me was to stop making payments on the loan, allow the loan to become late, and then I would be contacted by someone from the collections department to see if they could help me with lowering my monthly payment. I said I did not want to miss a payment and become late on the loan because it would make it more difficult for me to catch up. I asked to speak to someone who could help me now before I was late on a payment. I spoke to a supervisor who was unable to help me and was told the only way the collections department would talk to me and try to help me was if I became late on payments. I reached out to XXXX XXXX for help in lowering my monthly payment and they refused to help me unless I become delinquent on payment!

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: I have been dealing with XXXX XXXX XXXX as my student loan provider for several years now. I went with XXXX XXXX as I did not feel I had a choice. My issues with them first started in my senior year of college, spring of 2017. XXXX XXXX repeatedly called and demanded I begin to pay back one of my loans, despite the fact that I was still in school. I explained this was not possible due to that fact, and that I had chosen deferment until after graduation for all my loans. XXXX XXXX claimed I did not, and continued to harass me. They stated there was 1 loan, out of 5, that I had selected to pay while in my last semester. I told them that was a mistake, and that it didn't make sense given my other loans would not be touched until after graduation. They refused to work with me, and the loan started to build interest. After graduation, I began to pay as I could. I started working, but not a well paying job. I have made {$35000.00} a year since graduation in upstate New York. I still live at home with my parents due to this. Since graduation, XXXX XXXX has been nothing but uncooperative. They have raised the interest rates on each of my loans over 2.5 % over the past 18 months, and have set payment at 60 % of my monthly income. They demanded I pay {$1200.00} a month, despite the fact I only made {$2000.00} after taxes. This did not include the fact that I live an hour away from where I work ( 40 miles ) and was often stuck working weekends with no extra pay, therefore gas costs also piled up along with my monthly car payment of {$400.00}. I have repeatedly asked XXXX XXXX to work with me, and they have refused. It has reached a near crisis point several times, with me falling into delinquency and them repeatedly asking me to pay more than I even make at that point ( i.e. asking me to pay all {$3500.00} I owe at once ). It reached its worst point yet this month when I learned I was losing my job at the end of the month. I called and requested to work with XXXX XXXX, when I told them I was losing my job on XX/XX/XXXX they said " how will you continue to pay us? '' and " why are you calling if not to make a payment? '' They did not offer to work with me. This is reaching a crisis point, I do not want my debt to continue to pile up. I have paid at least something just about every month, but I can not afford {$1200.00} a month plus rising interest rates.
