Can't repay my loan

Student loan: Non-federal student loan

Can't temporarily postpone payments
Complaint: I had a small Sallie Mae loan to finish my XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. I found myself filing bankruptcy in XX/XX/XXXX but continued to make my student loan payment even though I am a full time XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX I received a payment receipt for my payment to Sallie Mae. XX/XX/XXXX I also received a notice from Sallie Mae stating they have " charged off '' my account. I called on XX/XX/XXXX to inquire because I was confused. I was told that no other payments would be received on this account as of XX/XX/XXXX and they were sending back my XX/XX/XXXX payment and cancelling my recurring payment plan. I received a refund check in XX/XX/XXXX and confirmed no other payments were being sent to Sallie Mae. I am now being bullied and harassed about my overdue account. I have the letter from Sallie Mae, the receipt for payment XX/XX/XXXX and my credit report showing I was current until they sent back my XX/XX/XXXX payment. In addition to the harassment and bullying they are trying to impose excessive fees and penalties for non payment in XX/XX/XXXX.

Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: I am a cosigner for Sallie Mae loans for XXXX sons, XXXX in college and XXXX graduated. I am paying the loans online monthly manually. I routinely pay them at the same time together. I pay them from the same personal checking account. The past few months, one of the payments is always rejected, the one that I make last. I have called customer service on multiple occasions and they refuse to help. They can not explain and they refuse to allow me to speak to anyone else. My bank is not rejecting the payments and in fact is not receiving the second payment withdraw request. I normally have a balance of several thousand dollars so there is never a low balance issue.

Don't agree with fees charged
Complaint: I am a co-signer for a loan. The student is not able to pay any amount towards this loan. I wanted to consider paying off a negotiated amount. I talked to a manager and was told they would consider 90 % payback. I asked the woman if I could talk to her manager. She told me he does not talk to anyone. So there is no one who will help me with this problem. The original amounts total {$4300.00}. It is now {$6400.00} because of interest. Interest rate are 9.625 % and 10.25 %. The lending instituted was not clear that this was a private company, leading borrows to believe it was a government agency. I feel this is dishonest and misleading.

Dealing with my lender or servicer

Student loan: Non-federal student loan

Keep getting calls about my loan
Complaint: I wish to make a formal complaint regarding the " Robocall '' policies of SLM Corporation DBA SallieMae. I am the cosigner of a student loan taken out by my daughter. Due to a banking hold on a deposited check, a payment was missed, via automatic payments. I received two robocalls on Sunday XXXX XXXX, XXXX at XXXX XXXX and XXXX at XXXX XXXX. On Monday at XXXX XXXX, I called the number proffered in the robocall and spoke with a customer service representative. At that time I questioned a robocall being received on a Sunday evening. Never the less, I explained the situation and arranged to make a payment bringing the overdue amount owed to zero. To my dismay, over the course of Monday XXXX XXXX, I received a total of seven additional robocalls. All after payment had been arranged. Robocalls came in at XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, and at XXXX. I believe their robocall policy is abusive to consumers. I called them twice during the course of the day once at XXXX and once at XXXX. Each time I complained about the continuing robocalls, and their inability to stop them. Also, the customer service representative 's inability to offer an escalation name or phone number to elevate my complaint to. On one call, the representative even refused to provide me access to a supervisor. I think SallieMae 's service policy to not empower representatives the ability to stop the robocalls after payment has been provided is a questionable business practice. I think a robocall policy that allows nine robocalls in essentially XXXX twenty four hour time span is abuse.

Dealing with my lender or servicer

Student loan: Non-federal student loan

Received bad information about my loan
Complaint: My name is XXXX, I am a student with enormous loans which are accumulating huge amount of interest at 10.750 %, that I am responsible to pay. I have been faced with a dilemma which I would like to discuss in this letter. First, I am writing to you to receive loan discharge based on two caveat : 1 ) - Sallie Mae, loan management, servicing and asset recovery company have been facing lawsuits and it is deemed unlawful to ask students to issue any payments to the company whatsoever. 2 ) - Sallie Mae, per creditable sources, also lost paperwork, misapplied payments, surprise late fees, including some of the highest interest rates. They also fail to provide accurate information so we as borrowers know what we are being faced with financially and lastly processing delays and faced with an overall confusion. Therefore, in my letter I would like to discuss my situation vis a vis their allegations and its effect on my loans and financial issues with payments. My request for loan discharge is not out of the norm, Sallie Mae has demonstrated that it is systematically and illegally failing to meet the borrowers needs and that includes, some of the highest interest rates that they fail to provide accurate information so we as borrowers know what we are being face with financially They continue to create obstacles for repayment by withholding information ; processing payments incorrectly ; failing to respond when borrowers complained ; illegally cheated many struggling borrowers like myself out of their right to lower payments, which causes us to overpay for student loans. Sallie Mae has also deceived private student loan borrowers about requirements to release their co-signer from the loan ; also, harmed the credit of XXXX borrowers, including XXXX veterans In addition, Sallie Mae improperly directed myself along with many other borrowers into forbearance when we otherwise might have qualified for income-driven repayment plans, and did not adequately keep borrowers in income-driven plans informed of deadlines to maintain their eligibility under such plans. Therefore, I am demanding my loans from such corrupted lender to be forgiven and to receive a possible repayment for whatever I have already paid. In the final analysis, the allegations of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau imposed a lawsuit against my lender, which comes down to the Department of Education regulations to assist in helping the student loan borrowers, including through higher defaults. However, giving the fact that Sallie Mae had an advancing policy recommendations to streamline enrollment and reenrollment in income-driven plans, reforms which I personally believe would made a meaningful difference for millions of Americans with student loans but since it could not commit further in helping me get on my feet with a drowning debt, I believe also that any borrowers serviced by Sallie Mae are entitled to receive discharge of my private loans due to the fact that the negative credit impact and constant harassing calls from collections on past due amounts that I am unable to pay and they know because I have ran out of forbearance. The reason I needed forbearance on my loans is because I am unable to pay instead of giving options that I qualify for due my annual income being less than what I owe sallie mae. Not only that the interest makes my loan go from {$25000.00} to around {$60000.00} if sallie mae would have explained this to me when initiating my loan I would have not signed on of this loan. To make matters worse the negative credit impact makes feel like I am drowning. I am unable to get approved for any type of loans to help me pay of my loans or credit cards to make my monthly payment to sallie mae possible. I wish money grew on trees but that is n't the case. I got these loans to get an education to live and now I 'm living in a nightmare for doing so HELP!

Can't repay my loan

Student loan: Non-federal student loan

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: Here 's my story : I 've been paying my minimum monthly payment every month to Sallie Mae until I fell into hard times. My car keeps breaking down and now taking care of my homeless father. I can no longer afford my minimum monthly payment. Before, today XX/XX/2017, I 've called several times trying to lower my payment and I was told my only option is to go on forbearance. I did n't want to stop paying them, so, I started sending checks of what I can afford. That is when they started harassing me at my work and other family members looking for money. I called again and was on the phone with them for over 3 hours, today, trying to find a solution. I talked to XXXX, in the Resolution Department, giving them all my financial information and hard ship issues. The call elevated to the supervisor, XXXX employee # XXXX. They told me they can not help me and forbearance is my only option. ( All calls are recorded so you could potentially get the information if you need it ). My XXXX XXXX XXXX grandmother is my cosigner. She is currently living on only social security so she is, also, unable to help me with payments. They wanted to speak to my cosigner, however, she is unable to speak on the phone. I told them vehemently, over and over, she is unable to think clearly and there is no one to speak on her behalf. I made it very clear that I want to be responsible for my payments of what I can afford. Throughout this 3 hour call I kept telling them I can pay {$100.00} per month and I know I could continue making {$100.00} payments through the duration of the loan. They just kept offering the forbearance or speak to my cosigner ( aka my XXXX ) - those were my only options. It started this back and forth conversation and they did not give me any other options. Am I wrong? Should n't they work with me? They have no problem cashing my check I send in each month. Now my credit is ruined because of them, so, now I do n't qualify to consolidate my loans with a bank. I am writing to you, not only to help others, but also to see if there is ANYTHING you can do to help me. I 'm desperate and I need you. Thank you, XXXX XXXX XXXX, MN XXXX XXXX XXXX : XXXX XXXX gradutate

Keep getting calls about my loan
Complaint: I have been making as high of payments as I can on my Sallie Mae loans. Because I am not paying the full amount they are calling me multiple times a day, yesterday I received 5 calls. They are also sending emailed every single day of the week. I believe this would be considered harassment as I am making payments from every paycheck. I have replied to an email stating they can not continue to harass me regarding my loans as I am making payments. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to stop these phone calls.

Having problems with customer service
Complaint: I set up a repayment plan for my student loans. When I talked to a representative, in the beginning, they reassured me that all my loans were out of default and into the repayment program. I received a letter in the mail later that month letting me know that my biggest loan was about to be delinquent. I called Sallie Mae right away to resolve the matter and a lady representative reassured me that all of my loans were up to date and that my loan was n't in the negative. 2 months pass and I receive a third letter letting me know that my loan was in default and that I would have to put XXXX down to get my loan back in good graces. Needless to say, since the lawsuit, they have n't called me about the matter but they were very disrespectful about having me repay. Also, they told me that an income based payment plan did n't exist and that I would have to put at least XXXX down to fix my loan.

Can't repay my loan

Student loan: Non-federal student loan

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: I have a loan with Sallie Mae that i signed with a cosigner to help me pay for college. I have never adjusted the original terms of the loan since I took it out, even though I make only {$20000.00} a year. I called to ask for lower monthly payments from the current {$340.00} a month that I pay. This amount is nearly 20 % of my monthly income and does not even include my XXXX other student loan payments. The other XXXX I have allowed me to be put on an income based repayment plan, but not Sallie Mae. ( Not to mention my Sallie Mae loan has an interest rate 3 % -4 % higher than any of my other loans ) I have been a good borrower in the 5 years since I left college yet they refuse to work with me. The only option they offer is deferment. Putting the loan on hold for 3 months while still collecting interest is not going to be a long term solution for me. Yes, they would love it if I kept putting my loan on deferment I 'm sure because it means more money in their pocket. They do n't care it does absolutely nothing to help the borrower. The lender is supposed to be serving the borrower, not the other way around. My experiences with this company have been nothing but awful. I would recommend anyone who needs a loan, student or otherwise, to get it anywhere else but Sallie Mae. I have never dealt with such a horrible company in my life. I call ahead of time to let them know I ca n't make the payment and they tell me that the collections department wont even speak to me until I let my loan payment go late. Once it goes late however, they have no problem harassing me 7 times a day. Then I call them back only to wait on hold for an hour and to be told that no changes will be made to my loan. I am now left in a position where I can continue to pay the loans and have nothing left over to try and improve my life ( like finishing the few classes I have left on my degree, or moving into my own apartment ) or I can destroy my credit while improving my situation, because the XXXX loan i have that takes up 20 % of my income refuses to help a proven good borrower. Learn from my experience and do yourself a favor. NEVER get a loan with Sallie Mae.
