Complaint: I have CDs with Sallie Mae Bank. XXXX CD matured XXXX/XXXX/17. I received no notification by mail but representatives insist I was sent an email. In reviewing all accounts for federal tax preparation I found XXXX for many accounts except Sallie Mae which must be retrieved online only. In retrieving XXXX I noted a CD matured 11 days previously and called Sallie Mae the first day it was open after the discovery. They simply say their policy is to have email only notification which one must agree to when establishing an account and since I contacted them at 11 days instead of the 10 day window I had no recourse except automatic renewal or pay a 3 month interest penalty. I understand policy but although I get a monthly email that says log in for account update I find no email showing renewal information plus a monthly repetitive email with the same info would increase the liklihood of missing an email with something of real importance such as maturing CDs. Even so I find email only policy inadequate and unfair to seniors who are more comfortable receiving paper renewal. In fact, I deal with numerous online banks and find this one to be the only bank I have refusing paper notification of maturing CDs.

Can't temporarily postpone payments
Complaint: I 'm a XXXX, XX/XX/2016.. Since XXXX I have had to move back to my home town and dealt with being jobless for several months only to get my first payment set up to be over {$1200.00}. Being jobless, and my cosigner passing due to a hit and run, I was forced to go into deferment. I was not offered any income based solutions and with working XXXX part time minimum wage jobs I still ca n't afford it. Deferment is now up and upon trying to pay and getting another Deferment I 'm met with only computer operated messages and no help. Im going to delinquency now and hopefully can defer when theit office is open on Monday. Largest privatized loan agency for students and closed on the weekends. Great plan.

Frequent or repeated calls
Complaint: I have requested a forbearance in XX/XX/XXXX and it supposedly has been granted. I was given a confirmation number that it was taken care of. However, they have a robo call automatically calling me 5-6 times a day!! It is not a person. It even calls on Saturday and Sunday with a recording to call them weekdays. It has also called my work phone and I was asked about it. I have called 4 times, each time having been assured that it has been taken care of. Yet, they are still calling me!!!! I want these people sued!!! I pay my bills and should n't have to put up with actions that are illegal and request remuneration for this legal violation of my rights.

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: I have been trying to get help with my student loan through Sallie Mae. I can pay my loan every month in full but I am living paycheck to paycheck. It is one of my highest payments each month and I have contacted them several time for assistance. They tell me I can go into forbearance but interest still accrues which will put me into even more debt on top of a {$150.00} payment every month that goes towards nothing. Recently, my interest rate was increased without notification and the only other way to lower it is to go on automatic draft. I do not have a problem with this but I like to pay my bills on certain dates and this will not work. I strongly believe they are being very dishonest with me and need help. I have no problem paying them but I have a problem that they will not help a loyal consumer get out of debt.

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: Navient has failed to provide the most basic functions of adequate student loan servicing at every stage of repayment for my private loans. 6 months after graduation, I reached out to Navient to discuss my repayment options since my salary was not adequate to make payments and was told that my payments could not be adjusted to my income.Instead, I was told the only I options I had was graduated repayment which lowered my overall monthly payment by {$200.00} and increased {$400.00} after 1 year or deferment. Although I was willing to make monthly payments that were adjusted to my monthly salary, they would not work with me on finding alternative income-driven plans. Although my salary has not increased in the last year, my payments have increased tremendously. I can not sustain these payments much longer.

Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: I took out a total of {$22000.00} from Sallie Mae between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I began paying this back this year, XX/XX/XXXX. Due to a XXXX leave, I had to return and finish XXXX this fall, meaning I did n't get a grace period. That is not the issue, however. According to XXXX, they picked up my loan and I am supposed to be paying them. Sallie Mae is telling me that I still need to pay them. My {$22000.00} has now turned into {$44000.00} among XXXX different companies. Instead of paying the agreed upon $ XXXX/month, I am now sitting at owing $ XXXX/month right now. I have made countless calls but I just get told that the other company is wrong.
I was told by the Department of Education to report XXXX because they wo n't provide me any proof of signing my debt over to them. I asked for the promissory note because my mom and I never did anything regarding XXXX, but they told me that they could n't give me my promissory note and I had to call the Dept. of Ed and get it from them. When I called the Dept. of Ed they told me that was incorrect and a violation on XXXX 's part.
I went to the bank today and assured that I only ever received {$22000.00} through loans. They verified that and told me I need to get proof from both of these companies. Neither company will give me any proof and they keep giving me the run-around. I can not live paying {$850.00} a month right now for student loans -- I have my rent and car payments on top of that, and it is impossible for me to bring in that kind of money when I graduated XX/XX/XXXX.
The bottom line is that my loan amount was doubled from {$22000.00} to {$44000.00}, and both companies are telling me that I need to pay them. I went to a XXXX College for two years and payed out of pocket for that- I then took three years at XXXX , including a XXXX semester that I received a XXXX. The fact that I received {$44000.00} dollars worth of loans is simply impossible and I need to get this figured out as soon as possible. I have spent over ten hours on the phone during the last two days and have gotten no where.
Please help me, XXXX XXXX XXXX

Received bad information about my loan
Complaint: In XXXX, a Sallie Mae advisor advised me, that Sallie Mae loans came with income driven repayment plans. Due to this verbal quote, I decided to use Sallie Mae, in addition to my federal loans, for XXXX. Apparently, during this time, Sallie Mae was associated with XXXX ... I 'm sure you know where this is going.
Once I graduated in XXXX XXXX, I was applying to between XXXX jobs daily. I was turning up short. In order to stay afloat, I was XXXX but after paying for living expenses, I was tapped out. Six months after graduation, Sallie Mae reached out to me to pay up. I was able to " forebear '' the loan for a couple of months, but the way it was explained to me was that it was deferred. I had deferred my federal loans, due to my low income, so the way that the forbearance was explained ; it seemed almost exactly the same.
Several months went by, I think it was XXXX or XXXX XXXX when Sallie Mae reached back out to me, and insisted that I start paying the XXXX dollar a month loans. I just did n't have it ; honestly, I did n't have it until XXXX XXXX. I fought with Sallie Mae to get the income driven repayment plan that was verbally quoted to me in the beginning of my start in college. Apparently, this did n't exist. It took several months of fighting with Sallie Mae to get the minimum amount due down to a doable amount. I had confided in my parents to help with the loans, and when my mother had agreed to help me pay back this loan, Sallie Mae would n't take her checking account, because it was n't in my name. It was already hard enough, asking my low income XXXX mother for help, and then when she agreed, they would n't take her information!! Because of this, my mother and I had to go and open a joint checking account, just to please Sallie Mae. Since this all happened, we 've consistently been paying the monthly payments and the account is current.
During the negotiating time with Sallie Mae, they reported to the Credit Reporting agencies that my account was delinquent and this has drastically affected my credit score. My credit was fantastic and I always paid my bills on time. I knew that I would n't be able to pay the amount that Sallie Mae had been forcing me to pay up at that time, that 's why I had tried negotiating, which actually did work, the monthly payment was lowered.
When I reached out to Sallie Mae credit dispute department a month or so ago, I basically said in the letter, that the marks on my credit were due to both my non-payment, but also their misrepresenting themselves to young and naive college students. These marks on my credit are based off of lies, which is fraud, a criminal offense. All I ask is for the marks to be removed, I 'm not threatening legal action at this time, but if necessary, I will.

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: My son has been trying to pay his Sallie Mae loans to the best of his ability. the interest keeps making it higher and he can not for some reason have it based on his income. they are harassing his grandmother who was the co-signer and making her feel as though she has to pay and she has been taking money from her fixed living expenses to try and pay the out ragious amounts that keep going up because they say he 's not paying the full monthly amounts. th interest on his loans have gone through the rough and the payments are double what he brings in monthly. even if he lived at home and made no car payments and I paid for food and everything else he would not be able to make the payments since they keep raising them. There are XXXX different loans which they made him do instead of one. My mother is afraid she is going to loose everything because the payments are not more than all 3 of us together ca n't pay. This should be illegal and why they want let him base the payments off his income I will never know. Please help. And there are more than one of the choices below. We could select every answer below except getting a loan because they have all happened. Dealing with the lender is a joke. they hang up on you once they figure out who you are and will not even try to help. The payments need to be a fixed monthly amount that can be handled and still be able to eat and survive and maybe even feel like living again. Shame on Sallie Mae!!!!

Don't agree with fees charged
Complaint: When I applied for a Sallie Mae loan I was given three different repayment periods : 10 years, 15 years and 30 years. The repayment period dictated how long I had to repay and in addition affected my interest rate. When I originally applied for my loan, I selected the option for a 30-year repayment term for lower monthly payments, in exchange for a higher interest rate. However once I entered repayment, my interest rate was still for a 30 year loan, but my " estimated payoff date '' is ten years from my " repayment start date ''. As a result, my payments are calculated based on 30-year repayment period interest rates and a 10-year repayment period. There is no way ( to my knowledge, or under my own investigation ) to change my " repayment start date '' nor when I requested a promissory note or reviewing my own documents there was any indication of how long my loan repayment period is. When I asked Customer Service for this information, they could not provide it to me either. So, the basis of my complaint is that my payments are much higher than they should be and that I have paid much more in interest because my payments are calculated using 30-year repayment term interest rates in a 10-year repayment term.

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: I graduated college and my payments started at $ XXXX month with a 9.25 % interest rate. I have paid on time every month since, except one time when I paid 3 days after my due date due to my finances. I called a week ahead and spoke with a service rep who stated it was not an issue and that I would n't be late because of my grace period. Within 2 days, they called me and my grandparents 8 times in 1 day. I called and asked them why they were harassing me when I was n't even late and had spoken with their rep prior stating I 'd definitely have it paid within the week it was due. They said they call everyone at that rate and when I told them I was starting to have financial trouble because my payment is so high, they offered no help. I then asked about my interest rate because it had gone up to 9.625 % and they offered no help there as well. I told them I really wanted at least my interest rate lowered if both were n't possible so I could really start paying off my loan and they rudely told me I needed to pay more than the minimum due to make that happen. HOW CAN A PERSON OUT OF COLLEGE AFFORD MORE THAN {$800.00}? They are completely greedy and unreasonable. They will not lower my payment or my interest rate based on my income. I have called multiple times as I am going through financial difficulties and do n't want to default on my loans, but they are less than helpful. Im not calling saying I ca n't pay. I genuinely want to keep paying on my loan, but I do n't know how much longer I can afford this payment and I am afraid of defaulting and getting harassing phone calls everyday.
