Complaint: Right now I am currently dealing with Sallie Mae. I am paying interest-only right now due to the fact that I ca n't pay a normal payment ( they want $ XXXX a month ). This is not an option for me when I have a mortgage, car payments, etc. ( normal bills ). Sallie Mae had told me this is only an option for one year. My year is up in XXXX and I have tried to let them in on the fact that I wo n't be able to pay that amount, and have tried to discuss working with me, so I can pay them SOMETHING, and this is NOT an option I was told. The only options I was given from Sallie Mae was to let my loans go into default ( how is this helping me )?! OR apply for deferment ( if I ca n't pay the payment now this wo n't help any later in my life ). I had told them I could continue paying the amount I pay for interest only, so they were being paid SOMETHING, but they had flat out told me NO! If they will go to great lengths of not helping their customers, and would rather fight for their money when it goes into collections why would n't they take ANY money I am willing to give them WITHOUT all the extra charges?!

Complaint: Borrowed with sallie Mae in XX/XX/XXXX using my grandmother as a cosigner. She was going to take care of the loan. Grandmother got sick and ended up in a XXXX and then passed away. I was living on my own since I was XXXX. Was in an XXXX marriage XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX. Graduated in XX/XX/XXXX and have been working to financially recover since. Financial hardship resulted in a default on sallie mae on XX/XX/XXXX after attempting deferment and a few payment arrangements. Called on XX/XX/XXXX to attempt to make arrangements for payment. Was notified of the default status and no payment arrangements was allowed. Sallie Mae representative was rude and harsh. Commenting on my financial situation and my lack of responsibility of the loan. Told me the only thing that would be allowed was paying the lump sum of the balance immediately, even though the loan is still owned by them until XX/XX/XXXX. Asked for XXXX $ and told me I was in a bad situation. Told me the next step is legal action. Had me sobbing on the phone. I was disgusted by the way he talked to me and the fact that sallie mae would rather take legal action against me then accept payments I 'm offering. Communication was poor. Help and options were still financially straining.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I checked my bank account and noticed that Sallie Mae had taken out XXXX of my bank account and they were not authorized to do so. I called them immediately and they told me it was an accident and not on purpose and it would take 3 to 5 days for a refund. It took multiple phone calls on my part to get this problem taken care of and I was treated poorly throughout the entire process. I do n't know how anyone takes out over 2 grand on accident. I ended up getting my refund a week later and was thoroughly stressed throughout the whole situation. I am a hard-working single mom and this was just unacceptable I know people make mistakes but that caused me to not be able to pay bills and pay for other daily essentials. Fast forward to XX/XX/XXXX I check my bank account and I see that Sallie Mae again took out money from my account XXXX. I did not authorize this transaction either and I am completely frustrated with this company for their mistakes that they have made. I am writing to you to inform you of how poorly this company is ( Sallie Mae ) and what customers of them have to deal with on a day to day basis.

Complaint: I got a loan from Sallie Mae ( XXXX ) to cover my college expenses over a 4year period. I have fallen behind and unable to make my payments on time. I have expressed this to Sallie Mae resolution representative on numerous occasions. Moreover my interest is building my overall loan total to a substantial amount. My loan is now over {$120000.00}. They want me to increase my payments to {$1000.00} a month but I am unable to because I can barely make the {$200.00} per month I am paying in interest. They continuously call me even after I have expressed to them that I am unable to make payments on a temporary part time job. I recently graduated in XX/XX/2016 and I also got evicted. Complaint: As with most creditors, Sallie Mae pushes to promote paperless billing. Their online solution to manage payment is particularly frustrating as it provides little useful information and makes it difficult to understand how much you owe for a given pay period. The " due balance '' only relates to what is due that day, so shows {$0.00} until your payment is due, meaning once you respond to this you payment is late. Any reputable creditor shows what is due for your next payment and provides easy access to your statements. I believe the Sallie Mae method of operation is knowingly unclear with the intention of confusing customers to be forced to pay late charges which exceed the normal monthly finance charges.

Complaint: I received a billing statement on XX/XX/XXXX about my loan coming back into repayment. I then received an email today, XX/XX/XXXX, stating that I had a past due balance on my loan. When I looked at the billing statement from XX/XX/XXXX, I did have an {$84.00} past due amount. However, the statement received on XX/XX/XXXX was the first communication I have received from them regarding my loan since XX/XX/XXXX. ( This is reflected on my online account as well. ) Additionally, I did not receive a single phone call or email regarding the past due amount. However, my mom ( my co-signer ) has received north of 6 calls per day regarding this past due amount. When I called to receive information about this past due amount, all the customer service representative said they could do was notate my account. I then confirmed that my phone number is listed on my account and I requested that they remove my mom 's information so she stops receiving calls. I was told they are unable to remove my mom 's information without her approval. Additionally, I submitted an online payment for the past due amount at XXXX this morning, but my mom has still continued to get calls. When I spoke to the representative, he had no knowledge of my payment until he dug around the account a little bit. If a payment has been submitted, all debt collecting attempts should cease immediately. I work for a mortgage company and deal with CFPB compliance every day so I understand what constitutes as a violation and not sending me a billing statement or contacting me regarding a missed payment is 100 % a violation. I 'm not sure what can be done to rectify this situation, but something needs to be done. I 'm sure I 'm not the only borrower this happens to. Please remove my mom 's contact information from my account IMMEDIATELY. Being the main, direct borrower on the loan, I should have access to any account information that I need and should be able to request any updates to the account.

Complaint: I have a student loan with Sallie Mae. I have paid this student loan off in XXXX payments in XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX. I have submitted proof several times that I have made the payments. The proof I have submitted is the receipts and bank statements. I have been called a liar by Sallie Mae and have been told that I have altered the bank statements which is n't true. I have even offered a bank statement that shows the amounts being withdrawn from my account and the statement has been stamped and signed by the banks branch manager, Sallie mae has refused to look at this. Sallie Mae has defaulted my loan and has now threatened me to pay {$2600.00} by XXXX/XXXX/XXXX which I do n't have not should I have to pay because I have paid this loan off or they will turn this over to a collection department and this will be detrimental to my credit. I really need help with this so it does n't impact my credit. Sallie Mae has been the worse creditor to have to deal with.

Complaint: Sallie Mea 's total amounts are inconsistent. Each time I called on XX/XX/2017 I was given a different amount that I owe. I called and spoke to agent XXXX and was told I had a past due amount of {$290.00} with a total amount of due of {$580.00}. I had to hang up to get missing information to complete my transaction because I was doing a forbearance and was given an amount by agent XXXX. Who then told me I owe a total amount of {$290.00} and owe {$580.00}. I checked my online statement and the amount that was past due on my online balance was {$290.00} with a total past due of {$580.00}. After I refreshed my computer the total amount was then change to {$590.00} and the past due remain to {$290.00}. I called back and spoke with XXXX agent XXXX and told him what happened and he said that the amount I was originally given was not reflecting late charges of {$15.00} which gives me a total of {$590.00}. While he said this the amount on my online statement reflected {$590.00}. I told him I needed to speak to someone who could fix the amounts so that they reflected the amounts they were giving me he gave me the number ( XXXX ) XXXX. I thought and he said they could fix it. This number redirected me to agent XXXX who then said that my late fees were {$14.00} and on his end he saw a total past due amount of {$580.00} with out the late fee of {$14.00}. This would make more sense due to the reflected amount, but at this point Sallie Mea should be audited. It seems like every time someone calls the amounts keep changing. I would like a full audit of this loan bank and your agency should keep eyes on them for inconsistency in fees and loan amounts that other customers may be having. Also, all conversations were recorded on there end and I have screen captures to prove their inconsistency.

Keep getting calls about my loan
Complaint: Sallie Mae has been informed - via US Mail to their normal payment address twice, and via telephone more than a dozen times - that it is inconvenient to receive phone calls due to my work schedule. They started calling nonstop ( 8 times to me so far today, 7 times to my cosigner ) yesterday and today, even though a payment was scheduled on their website and they have been informed of the scheduled payment. I 've spoken with 3 different people over 2 days ; 2 of those people stated I should not be getting calls, and that they had removed the phone numbers from the account. In my state, FDCPA applies to first party creditors. I have cited section 805.c of the FDCPA to them on numerous occasions.
