Company closed your account
Complaint: I have been a XXXX XXXX member since XXXX and XXXX XXXX holder since XXXX. I never had issues paying them and am a low risk customer in that I generally have high earnings, good payment history and higher credit scores. I used the accounts to keep my earnings as a law professor separate from my other accounts as this was generally for savings. In XXXX, I bought a condo and had charged quite a bit as I settled in, but was paying it back. I did this mainly because it is a low interest card with rewards to some of my favorite stores and I saw the purchases as an opportunity to maximize points and keep some cash on reserve for emergencies. Until XXXX, my credit score hovered in the mid XXXX and my salary was in the XXXX range depending on how many classes I taught. My on-time payment percentage is still 95 %. I am a low risk customer. During these years, XXXX XXXX gave me a line of credit and checking account, which I rarely used to deepen my relationship with them.
In XXXX of XXXX I learned my info had been exposed in the XXXX breach when I was disputed unauthorized charges on another card. A month later, I learned the same about XXXX. Further a very old issue of a student loan in arrears that belong to another borrower with my same name resurfaced when banks merged. I have been rebattling that issue and the identity theft issue since. I have notices on my credit report and tax returns and have resolved some of the unauthorized payments.
Despite my not having any payment issues with them XXXX XXXX arbitrarily closed my line of credit ( but not properly because they were stil charging service fees ), my checking account and my credit card account. There was no call or conversation. My mortgagor, car lender, and another credit card company sent emails and called when they heard about the breaches - giving me a chance to explain my situation and what I was doing to resolve it. They did not do anything negative with my accounts and I have stayed in communication with them as this situation resolves.
XXXX XXXX on the other hand, is reporting this closure negatively as if it is a XXXX debt charge off. This has had a negative impact on my credit score and could harm me at work as I am cleared staff that most report when such things happen without cause. I have been making payments on the account and usually transfer every pay period ad my goal is to pay it off now that I am done with the purchases I needed to make. I was two day and {$46.00} dollars late and someone from XXXX XXXX called me three times in one day to bother me. Even after I immediately logged on and payed what they wanted and some extra, they hit me with an outrageous delinquent fee on XXXX XXXX. That is nowhere near my due date of XXXX XXXX, XXXX nor the previous date for which I owed the {$46.00}.
Other than working to resolve issues related to corporate incompetence like many other Americans, nothing about me as a customer has changed. For three years, I had no payment issues with XXXX XXXX. My salary has not changed and other than the above mentioned issues, nothing in my payment status has changed. I would like for XXXX to stop reporting this card as a charge off and re-open the account. I will pay it off just as any other high earner would treat such a card and use it sparingly as I had done in the past before I made the active decision to use it in this way, knowing that I will get paid more than the balance just for teaching this summer. There is no reason for them to have done this than to engage in practices that willl yield them more fees while hurting their customers.
I also tried to reach out to them about a potential intrusion into my accounts by an ex-boyfriend who is one of their employees. He works in XXXX XXXX XXXX department and while we were dating, he brought up financial issues that I never told him. I asked them about any unauthorized access to my accounts in late XXXX to XXXX XXXX. They told me they dont monitor such things. I have no idea if my rights have been violated.
I hope CFPB can help me work through this. So far all I have gotten is put on hold and re-directed.

Complaint: my credit limit was once XXXX dollars. i have been paying on my card for a long time. i think pentagon closed my card improperly and did not notify me properly to get legal representation in my matters. Confusing or misleading advertising or marketing
Complaint: I checked the XXXX website to apply for an auto loan. Rates are published in the website and I know a lot of people who financed their cars with XXXX at 1.49 % or 1.99 %. To my surprise, there is a notice now on the website that reads : " Rates displayed are for all auto loans excluding residents of Puerto Rico. To receive the current auto loan rates for Puerto Rico, please contact us at XXXX. '' When I called, the rates for Puerto Rico are much higher that those offered to the rest of American citizens consumers in US. XXXX discouraged me from applying to the loan with those higher rates.
I understand this is a discriminatory practice under Fair Lending and other related consumer regulations and must be investigated and corrected. In addition, I was informed that these different rates were apparently established in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
