Complaint: I had a ELOC with the Pentagon Federal Credit Union. Once the ELOC matured i spoke with someone with member services and discussed options. I was told that I could apply for a new ELOC. I did. At the same time I received calls and letters from PFCU on my past due notices. I responded to the calls and letters. Each time I was told that since I applied for the new line of credit and the application was pre qualified there was not a problem. I was told that the letters were automated. Notwithstanding, I was hit with a penalty and an adverse report to the credit bureaus. I called PFCU. I said they repeatedly made representation that I detrimentally relied upon. I was told there be no remedial action to my situation. I told them if I had known the consequence to my credit I would have just paid off the line. The ELOC was approved but I just paid off the line anyway. I have asked them to correct the reporting to the credit report and remove the penalty. PFCU has failed to respond.

Complaint: Last summer, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX decided to merge with Pentagon Federal Credit Union. Very little ( less than 3 days ) notice was given to members of a meeting that a vote was to take place. At the meeting, ballots were destroyed by staff at the end and the vote was obviously a foregone conclusion. Members were enticed to vote for the merge by a promise of a credit to their Share account ( which at the required {$5.00} amounted to less than a nickel ). The leadership of XXXX received extremely generous payouts for the merger ( hundreds of thousands of dollars ). Regardless, the merger went through. Pentagon went on to pay lower rates on some products ( i.e., they did not honor XXXX 's rates ), bought the most expensive piece of real estate in XXXX XXXX for new headquarters, and hired the top lobbyist with the XXXX XXXX XXXX and a former critic of the bank bailout as its government lobbyist ( both questionable hires and for considerable sums ). Last week our business received an email that PenFed would be closing all business accounts in XXXX. We have been members for over 20 years and this poses a business hardship.

Complaint: I have a home mortgage loan with PenFed Credit Union for my residence in Washington State. Upon signing for my loan, I choose to received my monthly statement/bill by US mail ( declining electronic only option ). Back in XXXX of this year, PenFed stopped sending me my monthly statement/bill. I initially noticed that I did not receive a statement and called PenFed in order to get the balance, inform I still want the monthly statement by US mail, and to pay by phone for that month ( XXXX ) since I did not receive the bill. I had given my bank account information for that payment, but it turns out they had a record of the call but lost the transaction. I received a notice later in XXXX that my account was past due. I called several times to identify and straighten out the problem. Eventually the payment issue was corrected but they indicated they now change $ XXXX from my savings going forward in order to continue to receive my monthly bill/statement by US mail. Given that I singed-up for the mortgage with paper option I do n't think they should be charging me a fee every month in order for me to receive my bill. Can your agency please help me work with PenFed to go back to sending me the monthly statement/bill by US mail without deducting $ XXXX fee?

Complaint: This is an update with new information for a complaint that had been previously filed against Pentagon Federal Credit Union. The new information is an investigation by the FBI and a letter from XXXX XXXX. The FBI investigation shows that my signature was forged on several documents and one promissory note was altered. The letter from XXXX XXXX confirms that they were duped into providing my personal and confidential information to PenFed. A Massachusetts 93A Demand Letter has been executed against PenFed.

Complaint: We purchased a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX from XXXX XXXX and XXXX in XXXX, VA on XX/XX/XXXX. The agreed upon price for the vehicle was {$40000.00} plus tax and tag. We told them we were going to finance through our own bank. The sales person said they would be able to give us the same rate if not lower. When we got into finance we were told they were able to buy down our finance rate and actually beat our banks rate by approx. 1/2 a percent lower. He had us sign 2 different contracts with 2 different amounts on them. When we asked why 2 contracts and why they were different he said they needed to show the bank the buy down rate and that the figures were just for the bank. After we signed everything and got home we could n't figure out what all the extra money added onto the loan was for. I contacted the finance person and was told the charges were for extra and extended warranties. We told him we did n't ask for any of these items and none of them were ever discussed or agreed upon to for them to add to our loan. I told him to just void the entire contract and we would finance through our bank as we were going to do at first. He said they could n't do that because the loan was financed and money dispersed the same day we signed the loan. We told him we wanted all the extra charges removed and refunded back towards the loan. I asked where all our paperwork was ref. all the extra and extended warranties and the 2nd contract they had us sign were, because we did n't have any paperwork on any of the stuff he added onto the loan. They said they would XXXX them to me. We received copies for warranties with the finance persons signature on them but not our signatures. Each copy had RE-PRINT FOR CUSTOMER FILE on it. When we asked where our copies with our signature on them was he told us he lost them. They do n't have any copies because we did n't agree to any extra or extended warranties. We were told the 2nd contract had been destroyed. Bottom line is The dealership charged us approx. {$22000.00} in extra charges we did n't agree to. It has been a nightmare trying to get them to rectify this issue. I have called and left messages with everyone from the General manager, district manager, finance manager and sales rep.. They never return phone calls and do n't seem very interested in resolving this matter.
