Company closed your account
Complaint: TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN : I was required to pay a fee to open up a checking account in order for me to become a member. However, my access to the online portal has been blocked for some time now and just recently I received a letter that informed me that PenFed is no longer serving my account. Meanwhile, I have not received a refund for member service charges or any notification on why the checking account was closed. Furthermore, membership to PenFed documents does not show any claim that PenFed reserves the right to close memberships including checking accounts without notification or consent or withhold refunds.

Problem when making payments

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Problem during payment process
Complaint: I have two areas of Concern. 1st - For my Pentagon Federal Credit Union XXXX Credit Card on XX/XX/XXXX I received a 12 month 0 % balance transfer of {$9000.00} to help pay off another credit card. I have been paying on this credit card for 10 months. The expiration of the 0 % transfer is due to expire on XX/XX/XXXX according to my statements. On XX/XX/XXXX I called Pentagon Federal inquiring on another balance transfer for another 12 months at 0 %. In the discussion the attendant told me that any payments would buy down the first 0 % balance transfer made on XX/XX/XXXX as long as no interest or other purchases were made. I then decided, on XX/XX/XXXX to have another 0 % balance transfer of {$6000.00} to help pay off another credit card. I paid {$950.00} that month and all the money, minus balance transfer fee, went to the XX/XX/XXXX balance transfer. On my XX/XX/XXXX statement I made another {$950.00} payment where {$580.00} went to my XX/XX/XXXX balance transfer and only {$180.00} went to help pay off my XX/XX/XXXX transfer. I called Pentagon Federal on XX/XX/XXXX and asked why it was not paying off my 1st transfer and they said something about congressional calculations and they had no way of fixing or having my payments go first to the promotion XX/XX/XXXX transfer. In this case I will be paying interest on the first balance transfer until I have both balance transfers closed out. This was not explained to me and Pentagon Federal said they could not " allocate '' how the payments are done. Please help me with this as I never intended to a 0 % balance transfer cost me any interest. They are not taking the Expiration date of the 0 % balance XX/XX/XXXX into account and not considering that I still have 10 months to pay off the other XX/XX/XXXX balance transfer at 0 %. It looks like they are penalizing me on having two 0 % balance transfers. 2nd Additionally on a separate note, It appears they changed the expiration date for both transfers from the XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX Statements confusing me as to when the expiration of each promotion was to end.

Closing your account

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Company closed your account
Complaint: I had run into financial hardship which in turn I settled the PenFed XXXX and PenFed XXXX XXXX credit card. The amount of the settlement amount was to be a confidential amount. PenFed is not reporting the information correctly to the credit bureaus and as of XX/XX/2018 show conflicting information across XXXX XXXX XXXX, and XXXX. This is negatively impacting my credit score. In addition, they are reporting how much the settlement amount was for paying the accounts for less. I realize they can report that the accounts were paid for less but they are reporting that I owe the full amount and am still late and they have in the last two months incorrectly reported the information and changed the information slightly each time damaging my credit. I do not have a XXXX XXXX or XXXX account with them after paying them in full via a settlement agreement. PenFed has been contacted and at this time this has not been corrected. I would have suffered and paid a settlement agreement for my mistakes but that doesn't allow them to report bad data and continue to harm me.

Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Complaint: I approved for a credit card with Pentagon Federal Credit Union ( XXXX ) on XX/XX/XXXX with an initial limit of {$7000.00}. The card came with a promotional offer of {$100.00} after spending {$1500.00} within a 90 day period. I was approved for a credit line increase on XX/XX/XXXX to {$8400.00}. I paid {$1100.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. My spending passed {$1500.00} around XX/XX/XXXX, meeting the spending requirement. XXXX closed my card on XX/XX/XXXX. I have a XXXX XX/XX/XXXX score with no negatives. They are not my highest credit limit which is at $ XXXX. I generally do not hold balances, but I do use my cards and pay them before the statement cuts. They closed the card as soon as I reached the spending threshold. I did not receive the bonus.

Charged fees or interest you didn't expect

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Installment loan

Complaint: I received a check to use in the mail saying Im pre-approved for a personal loan. It said I would be getting a XXXX so I was not interested. I then received an email stating Weve lowered your rate. You will now get a XXXX I work in a XXXX XXXX myself and the fine print read Offer current as of XX/XX/2018. 1 In order to consolidate an existing PenFed loan, line of credit, or credit card, the current Bill Consolidation Loan rate must be equal to or greater than the rate on your existing PenFed loan, line of credit, or credit card. No more than 50 % of Bill Consolidation Loan funds may be used to consolidate existing PenFed debt. PenFed does not permit internal refinances of an existing PenFed Personal loan or Bill Consolidation Loan. Loan amount determines term. All loans are subject to a minimum monthly payment of {$50.00}. Questions or comments? Contact us. To change your email address, please log on from our home page. This will ensure that your official records are updated. After you log on, go to " account actions '' then " Update Profile ''. So this is not stating that I may not get that rate or anything. Nowhere on the email does it say as low as. I called to make sure and I was verbally told yes, I will be getting a XXXX. I deposited the money in my account of $ XXXX and when I go online, I see I have a loan of 12.99 %. Thats higher than some of the debt I want to payoff. I called and spoke to a supervisor named XXXX and he said they will not be able to honor the rate of XXXX
