Complaint: I previously used a pre-paid card and listed it for direct deposit of my XXXX XXXX payments. I wasn't receiving payments for XXXX XXXX on a consistent basis so years passed and it never occurred to me to update my direct deposit info with the XXXX XXXX agency. On XX/XX/19 & XX/XX/19 I received text messages from IL XXXX XXXX XXXX that there were payments direct deposited. Upon calling the agency I discovered that they had my old Netspend account on file. I reached out to Netspend to confirm the deposits were in fact received and they were, this took place on XX/XX/19. I started this process at XXXX Pacific time and the saga continued until well after XXXX. I was bounced all around and placed on hold numerous times with no resolution. They asked me for my address, my name, my SSN, questions regarding family members, my new and old phone numbers, the list goes on and on. For starters I initiated the call to let them know I was notfied that my XXXX XXXX deposits had been sent to the account and I explained that I hadn't used the account in a very long time so therefore I no longer had the card. I was advised to purchase a temporary card from the store and call back to have the funds in my account transferred to the temporary card. When I called back I was told that I couldn't have the transfer completed because there were restrictions on my account, keep in mind that it's now about XXXX and I've been off and on the phone with Netspend since XXXX. No one ever said there were restrictions on my account. So now I get transferred to the Risk Management Dept- I'm told I need to email or fax documentation showing proof of identity. This is not the problem, the issue is that I've spent alllll day on and off the phone with Netspend and no one ever mentioned that I needed to submit anythng. By the time I found this out I was late for my second job and I ended up missing work because I had to go home to use the computer to upload these documents. I missed 6hrs of work from my PT job as I work 2 jobs to take care of my family. This is why receiving the XXXX XXXX was so important. Around XXXX Pacific time I was finally able to get the issue resolved but 1st I had to have 1 more phone call and be on hold to reach someone who then was less than helpful because she wasn't listening to me. I gave her a summary of the issue prior to requesting help with the transfer. The representative in the Risk Dept had me wait 15-20mins before calling back to request the transfer, only to call back and get the same type of reception as the previous calls. The final call of the day was with a supervisor who was able to resolve the issue. The purpose of this complaint is not just to whine about my personal issue in dealing with Netspend but to let you know how traumatic something like this can be to anyone when in need of accessing their funds. It's a trickle down effect for those of us living pay check to pay check and this caused a great inconvenience for me, I needed this money to pay for a car rental as my car is down and I have to have a car to get to work here, I was devastated. I just can't stress enough that halfway doing a job is unacceptable, this should have NEVER taken and entire day to just gain understanding literally. Once my direct deposit information has been updated with XXXX XXXX I will NEVER use Netspend again. The loss of time and money is just not worth it

Complaint: well me and my family are victims of the "campfire" that destroyed our home and belongings and since the fire we've been living in a R.V and a generator was donated to our church that in turn was givin to us brand new.XX/XX/XXXX the generator began to fail mechanicaly so i returned it to the dealer which in turn refunded me about XXXX but since it was only XXXX XXXX when i returned the generator the store didnt have enough cash in the store to pay me in full so the manager asked if i had a debit card that the refund can be forwarded to and i only had a Paypal prepaid debit card on me so i gave it to the manager and he said the refund should take no more than 72 hours to process.Ater 72 hours passed i attempted to make a small online order and found out that PayPal froze my account bcs the generator i had refunded to the card wasnt originaly purchased with the card therefor it was flagged for suspition...i have tried numberous times to have this resolved and there treating me like a criminal and ive even offered to send them the original reciept from the refund and explained it was imposible to get the original reciept when the item was purchased bcs i did not purchase it i recieved it by donation doe. to me and my families situation .i feel there being unreasonable especially since ive never had any issues before with "suspicious activities"

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, there were charges on my card that were made in another city that i do not live in. I reported the problem to the company ( netspend ), and within 24 ( actually less ), they closed my account, which is what i wanted and i ordered a new card. Instead, they closed my account and made my access to my online account inactive. They also made it to where i can no longer be a netspend customer or account holder. I still have money in this financial institution with no access to it. This is very funny to me and my senses are red flagging all over.

Complaint: I sent the following email to " XXXX '' regarding their card I received. I called their customer service XXXX and could find no way to speak with a person without activating the card, which I did not do. Note the brochure comment about charging me for inactivity, which is exactly what I plan to do, no activity because I do not want their card. My name is XXXX. On Friday ( on the email I mistakenly stated Saturday ), XX/XX/2019, I received a Netspend " charge card '' ready for activation, etc. I request that you cancel this card immediately. I neither solicited this card, nor do I want this card for any use. In your brochure accompanying the card, you state that if I do not register and activate the card, you will begin assessing an inactivity fee. I will not activate this unsolicited card nor do I expect any charge for that. After I send this email, I will proceed to forward this information to all agencies interested in consumer harassment and abuse.

Complaint: I was given a {$100.00} Visa Prepaid Card as a XXXX gift. The card was purchased by the Grantor on XX/XX/XXXX. I did not open the card until XX/XX/XXXX. When I called to activate the card, I was told that it was expired and they would need to send me another card. Then the woman on the phone asked me how I wanted the fees to be charged, {$1.00} per purchase or other fees as she stated. I told her I didn't want to choose a fee plan, that I intended to make a purchase today and spend the whole amount. She said that there were already fees charged to the card for each month that I did not use it. The charges came to {$41.00} on a {$100.00} balance!!!! When I received the replacement card in the mail, I tried to call the company to complain about the fees and request a refund, but the voicemail doesn't give you the option to speak with a representative and it disconnects you. I went to their website, but could not find any contact information or address to send my complaint. www.netspend.com

Complaint: on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX, I went to a check cashing place to cash my paycheck and added {$500.00} from a {$600.00} paycheck to my pre- paid NetSpend Card. I used the card to purchase a one nights stay at a local hotel. The same night, I tried to use my card again at a local drug store ( XXXX XXXX XXXX but it was blocked. When I reached out to the company today XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX, they said my card was being restricted ( without any reason why ) and stated that I needed to provide a receipt from the check cashing place as well as my ID and Social Security Card. I told them that I had two of the three items they requested ( the receipt and drivers licences ), but I would have to apply for a social security card so that I could get my card re-activated and would not have any access to my money until then. Furthermore, my card being blocked in this way was a huge inconvenience as I would be without funds that I needed. I had at least {$410.00} on my card and I need it back. I do not want to use this pre-paid card service ever again if it is intended to cause these issues and inconveniences.

Complaint: On or about XX/XX/2019, I disputed an accidental charge made on my NetSpend pre-paid card. They immediately canceled my card which meant from that instant I had NO access to ANY of my money. After I reported the dispute, I had to call the customer service number to get a new card sent to me and I was told I would be charged {$10.00} for a new card! This is because the only option they have for disputes is to mark the customer 's card " reported lost or stolen '', which is incorrect. On XX/XX/2019, after they still hadn't resolved the dispute on my card and I found that I can't just purchase a new pre-paid NetSpend card *without loading money on it at the time of purchase*, I finally broke down and ordered a new card for {$9.00}. I also paid an extra {$20.00} for 'expedited shipping '. Today 's mail came - still no card. I now have three of my bills that are sending me emails they couldn't process my card because of these idiots and I'm almost out of gas as well and as I mentioned before, even tho my direct deposit hit my account on XX/XX/2019, I still have NO access to my account or money and they STILL haven't resolved the dispute!

Complaint: A XXXX dollar prepaid debit card was purchased for me. The company was Netspend. The card number on original card was XXXX. When trying to " activate card '', I was told I had to switch this over from a temporary gift card to a " prepaid account '' in my name in order for it to work. The prepaid card number is XXXX. Now, when trying to find out the balance and use the card, I was told that I was being charged a monthly fee I was never told about that took my entire XXXX dollar gift I had to begin with. The company scammed me to switch to a product where a fee would get charged so they could basically take my money from me. I was never given the option to us the gift card as it wouldn't even work, which is what prompted me to call when they told me I had to switch to make it work.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX I received an alert by text from Netspend saying that my balance was {$5.00}. I immediately went online to XXXX to view my account. There was a atm withdrawal from an atm in XXXX tx at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX tx. I immediately called to report the fraudulent activity on my account and to have my card blocked. I told him that my card is in my possession and how is it that someone could withdraw money from my account without physically having my card. The representative provided me with an email to get a temporary credit until they complete their investigation that can take from anywhere of 10 days to 45days or even 90days. I submitted the email and I have called back to netspend twice and they are telling me that I have to wait until XX/XX/XXXX to get an update and to see if I win my case or lose. I don't see how I would lose my case since I was not in XXXX, I was in my house which is 3 hrs away. I'm the victim, money was stolen from me. I should not have to go through this to get by money back. I also called XXXX the atm customer service to see if they could help and they said they could not.
