Other problem
Complaint: Chase issued me a credit card that had a 0 % apr for balance transfers until XX/XX/2019, but a high interest rate ( 22.99 variable ) for purchases. I transferred a balance and paid the balance transfer fee. Then I used it for purchases and paid an amount to cover the purchases so I would not get interest. I also paid the minimum on the balance transfer. They took the money and applied it the lower apr and not the way I intended. They spread the money, some went towards the 0 % balance transfer minimum payment due, and some to the 0 % balance transfer amount and some went to part of the 22.99 % purchases. They tell me I can not tell them how to apply the money, even though I know the act says that money needs to go to the higher apr first. Basically, they said that the only way I can avoid paying interest on these purchases is to pay off the entire thing. I got card to take advantage of 0 % interest and they are flouting the regulations of the recent credit card act that says payments go to the higher % first.

Complaint: Seven fraudulent transactions occurred on my Chase Visa between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. These seven fraudulent transactions, totaling {$390.00}, were reported to Chase Cardmember Services as soon as they appeared on the XX/XX/XXXX statement. Chase notified my on XX/XX/XXXX ( 2 and one-half months after my first report of fraud ) that I was not responsible for 3 of the 7 items ( totaling {$120.00} ). They stated that I was responsible for the other four transactions ( totaling {$260.00} ), three of which occurred in XXXX, California 90 miles from where I live. No explanation was given for why I was deemed responsible for the 4 other fraudulent items.

Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Complaint: According to my understanding of the promotional offers of the credit card, users were allowed " up to {$100.00} '' back for purchasing TSA Pre Check or Global Entry. We have 2 users, and each bought a the TSA Pre check ( valued at {$85.00} ) and would not have bought TSA Pre Check unless we thought we were to be reimbursed. Our understanding was that we would be reimbursed 2 times {$85.00}, or {$170.00}. However, we were only reimbursed a single {$85.00}. On Sunday XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted Chase about the Sapphire Reserve Credit card and asked them why I was not rewarded the additional {$85.00}, they said that they only redeemed " one '' purchase of either TSA Pre OR Global entry per credit card and only up to the amount of the single purchase and not total purchase for all users on the credit card. They told me there was nothing they could do. Our main dispute is that the wording in their promotional document ( attached ) is unclear. The document says that we are allowed up to {$100.00} for TSA Pre or Global Entry. It does not make clear that it is ONLY {$85.00} for TSA Pre or {$100.00} for Global Entry. In addition the document does not outline or define " account '' which we fairly understood to mean " user ''. Upon very close inspection of the document, I was unclear what either of the term meant, and the document led me to believe that each user on the card would be reimbursed. Finally, this concerns us because we opened up the card after very careful consideration of the costs and benefits, and the extra {$85.00} changes our math. We are now concerned that if we had know this, we would not have gotten the card or TSA Pre, and now we are stuck with the card and its costs. To add to that, the annual cost of a 2nd user on the card is {$75.00}, and we thought that this would afford all the benefits to the second user as the first user. Now we are unsure what adding a second user to the card affords us, and are concerned that we are effectively out a {$75.00} second user fee + {$85.00} TSA Pre change totaling {$160.00} annually.

Problem with a lender or other company charging your account

Checking or savings account: Checking account

Transaction was not authorized
Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I noticed an unauthorized charge from a XXXX user on my account for {$980.00}. I immediately reported it to chase. They asked me if there were any others so I went over my previous statements in detail. I noticed a charge in XXXX for {$5.00} also from a XXXX user that i did not recognize and was unable to find on my XXXX account. I let them know about this charge as well. The {$5.00} was refunded to my account right away but the {$980.00} was not because they said they would need time due to the amount. On XX/XX/XXXX {$1900.00} was taken from my account again from a XXXX user which I reported right away. This money was credited to my account after I pleaded with them that I can not continue to pay bills with {$3000.00} missing. During this call I followed up with my original complaint and was told it was being processed. On XX/XX/2018 I called to follow up on the XX/XX/XXXX charge again and was told that since it was beyond 60 days from another reported charge it can not be credited. I looked over the guidelines on your website and see the note that I may be liable but I also see that it states the following " In order to hold you responsible for those transactions, your bank or credit union would have to show that if you notified them before the end of the 60-day period, the transactions would not have occurred. Now since this did in fact happen AGAIN on XX/XX/XXXX from the same exact user that took the money on XX/XX/XXXX, after being reported immediately, doesn't this show that they did nothing to prevent it from happening again?

Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage

Mortgage: Conventional home mortgage

Complaint: I applied for refinancing ( with cash-out ) of an existing mortgage that I had held for 15 years ( of which 12 were with Chase ) in XXXX and was rejected because " Chase 's lending guidelines only allow up to 75 % of LTV.. '' This seemed to me odd since, to my mind, I had a 30-year mortgage and I had never missed a payment and the value of my property had not in any way declined. On further enquiry it emerged that Chase had in its possession a Loan Modification Agreement that I had never seen ( but was supposedly signed by me ), on a day that was 3 weeks into my 8 week hospitalization in intensive care, was not notarized, was not witnessed by anyone who was identifiable, but extended the maturity date of the original loan by 12 years while reducing the monthly interest and principal payments by a whopping XXXX cents a month or XXXX cents a year. The original mortgage was a XXXX loan that Chase acquired in XXXX and it had a rate and payment caps meaning that it was a negative amortization loan. These loans were apparently banned for homeowners by Dodd-Frank in XXXX thus the need to " modify the loans '' to enable Chase to continue service them. Chase 's response to my complaints has been curt : Chase does not require notarization for loan modification agreements and the " signature on the loan modification agreement appears to match those on the original loan document. '' I feel totally helpless because Chase chose to " waive '' notarization of the Loan Modification Agreement which would have been the only way that both lender and borrower could prove that they entered into this agreement willingly and knowingly.

Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 we purchased a service with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( also known as XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX by XXXX XXXX ) for our group of 23 people to go to various islands and snorkeling activities out of XXXX. The bases of the dispute is that XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX took us to 1 island only and did not follow thru with the itinerary that had been planned out. Most of the conversation was over the phone. At the end of the day with much confusion XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX charged my card {$4400.00} for services NOT rendered. This is the cause of the dispute. I tried dealing with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and they were not budging on refunding us partial payment due to not following the itinerary that had been planned. So I then went to my Credit Card Chase Sapphire Dispute Department to resolve the issue. After many, many phone calls and months of dealing with this dispute, our Credit Card has sided with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX word over ours on what went on that day. Basically XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has continuously lied about the events that day and even said they gave us a credit which was also another lie. I have spent so much time on this and can not believe that we as customers with a very good history have to deal with our Credit Card on this level. There was another large group lead by XXXX XXXX on this excursion who also felt they were not given what was promised. That group also disputed the charges and was refunded the money by their Credit Card company. On the attached PDF pages 12 -14 give details of what went wrong that day.

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Complaint: XXXX XXXX versus Chase Bank XXXX XXXX Attn : XXXX XXXX CEO of JP Morgan Chase Bank XXXX XXXX XXXX., # XXXX XXXX XXXX, New York XXXX Phone : XXXX Fax : XXXX Issue # 1 On XX/XX/XXXX, there was a fraudulent {$1000.00} ATM withdrawal from my account. I had not made that withdrawal, but Chase Bank consistently refused to view the ATM video. That video might show that a Chase employee made the withdrawal something that Chase Bank chooses not to admit. On XX/XX/XXXX, my account balance should have been increased from {$960.00} to {$1900.00} Issue # 2 Later, the {$960.00} balance shown on a withdrawal receipt was reduced, by Chase, to less than zero. This additional Chase Bank fraud made it difficult for me to pay my bills. ~ Chase has the responsibility to restore, to my account, the {$1000.00} and the {$960.00} that it fraudulently withdrew. To prove bank fraud, I filed a police report to legalize viewing the abovementioned ATM video. The case number isXXXX and deals with ID theft and fraud. XXXX XXXX police officer XXXX XXXX and the detective department have the case information. Their telephone numbers areXXXX and XXXX. XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX, two Chase bankers, also are aware of the problem, but they refused to view the Chase Bank video the likely incriminating video. To ignore the facts, one Chase banker even refused to read this page. Numerous talks with other Chase staff include XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) and XXXX at the Customer Protection Group ( XXXX ). On XX/XX/XXXX, after my interrogating XXXX by phone, she admitted that Chase Bank did refuse to view the ATM video. After asking her to simply say yes or no to whether or not Chase could legally view the video, XXXX resistantly answered Yes. As an end to our conversation, XXXX offered a {$500.00} settlement a settlement which I refused. I said that, instead, I want the full amount that Chase Bank owes. Why would Chase Bank offer to settle if there were no valid reason to settle? In effect, Chase Bank seems to have admitted guilt. Issue 3 Due to the aforementioned ATM problem, I have largely avoided making ATM withdrawals. Currently, to be safer, I mainly use Chase Bank tellers. Nevertheless, Chase attributes the following ATM withdrawals to me : XX/XX/XXXX {$40.00} XX/XX/XXXX {$40.00} XX/XX/XXXX {$40.00} XX/XX/XXXX {$40.00} XX/XX/XXXX {$50.00} XX/XX/XXXX {$40.00} XX/XX/XXXX {$60.00} XX/XX/XXXX {$60.00} The result is a {$370.00} decreased bank balance Was it I who made those withdrawals, or not. Viewing ATM videos would give the true answer an answer that might incriminate Chase. It might show that a Chase Bank employee stole {$1000.00} + {$960.00} + {$370.00} for a {$2300.00} total. The problem continues My XX/XX/XXXX withdrawal receipt showed a {$1100.00} balance. However, after a XX/XX/XXXX {$40.00} withdrawal, the balance should have become {$1000.00}, but became {$1000.00} instead. This is {$60.00} less than I expected, and was this {$60.00} stolen by Chase? If so, the banks theft is now {$2300.00} + {$60.00} = {$2300.00} ~ On XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke over the phone with XXXX of the Chase Bank corporate office. As with the local bank office, she refused to have the aforementioned ATM videos reviewed. Therefore, I asked XXXX XXXX Detective XXXX ( XXXX ) to investigate the bank-theft issue, but he too refused. He mentioned that the police and Chase Bank have a working relationship, and he apparently felt that such an investigation could hinder that relationship. Issue # 4 By my storage facility, I was charged a {$60.00} penalty. I had arranged that Chase Bank pay my monthly storage fee and deduct the amount from my account. However, for the last three months, Chase had failed to make that storage payment which resulted in the penalty fee. Due to the ATM fiasco, which was caused by Chase Bank, I received a new credit card which the bank failed to use to pay the storage bill. Due to the abovementioned {$60.00} penalty Chase Bank now owes to me {$2400.00} ~~~~~~~~~~

Improper use of your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Credit inquiries on your report that you don't recognize
Complaint: Last year when I checked my credit, I found that Chase Bank has been making hard inquiries against my credit every year between XXXX and XXXX. I asked them to stop and was directed to a phone number. I thought the situation was resolved, though they never made any effort to remove any of the hard inquiries that negatively affect my credit and will continue to do so for another year or two. I am checking my credit again, and have found that they made another hard inquiry. Chase now takes up 1/3rd of all hard inquiries on my credit and I have NEVER done business with them. I've started the process of asking them what is happening yet again, but at this point I don't have faith in their willingness to actually do something about it. I need the hard inquiries removed from my credit reports and I need them to stop running inquiries against my credit unless I physically sign something with them or otherwise give my consent. My only assumption is that they obtained my information when a car dealership ran my information several years ago and had multiple institutions try to get me a loan in one go. At no point did I consent for anyone to retain that data or to make yearly checks against it for any reason.
