Problem making or receiving payments
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX at approximately XXXX XXXX, I decided to stop by the Chase Bank located at the XXXX XXXX Chase branch located at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, NY XXXX, to make a cash deposit. Instead I became a victim of a crime and was robbed during branch hours. Inside the ATM vestibule area, I noticed two other male customers trying to make their own transactions arguing with the woman to leave them alone that they didnt have any money to give her. This woman is homeless and a drug addict, who according to the NYPD is known to menace the area. After the two men addressed her she looked like she was about to back off. Instead she approaches me by the ATM machine where I repeated the same thing to please leave me alone that I did not have money to give her. She stepped back, but then came quickly towards me and grabbed my money from my hand. My immediate reaction was to grab her to keep her from leaving with my money. The other customer who was in the vestibule area with me helped restrain her after a physical confrontation, where I ended up injuring my arm during the tussle. This entire incident happened on Chase property, during the day, during branch hours, and was caught on Chases camera. Not a single branch member came out to assess the situation and help restrain her. Both the security guard and branch manager were nowhere in sight. Instead me and the other customer brought this woman inside the Chase branch where we asked for help ( while restraining her ) and someone was finally able to call the police. Unfortunately, this branch failed in ensuring customer safety and security measures. I bore the responsibility as a Chase customer, immediately after being robbed to place myself in harms way and keep this woman from leaving with my money. Within about 12 minutes the metro police came inside the branch and assisted me with detaining her. They placed handcuffs on her until the NYPD arrived. Once the NYPD arrived she was arrested for robbery. The very next day I went back to the branch to speak with Branch Manager, XXXX XXXX XXXX to share my experience and ask what actions I can take. Instead the manager simply said sorry and that their best security guard happened to have been off on Monday. When I explained that no one inside the branch assisted me with the matter until we brought the woman inside the branch, the manager responded by saying maybe the security guard was on lunch, this response is unacceptable. I was a victim of a crime at this branch, lost money during the ordeal, and got injured. Here is the thing this branch is known to be a hot spot and have people menacing customers in the area during all hours. This branch needs to have a safety and security training in place on how to properly handle these kinds of situations, which could have easily turned bad. There should always be a security guard by the entrance. The bank branch security guard is responsible for the security and protection of the banks employees and all assets. Generally, security guards stay alert to watch for potential threats to the safety of employees and customers. Chase should consider different measures to help ensure that their customers feel safe when withdrawing or depositing their money at the bank. A customer shouldnt feel threatened or fear walking into a bank and physically being attacked to protect their money. To resolve the problem, Im seeking monetary compensation of {$10000.00} for the emotional distress, pain, suffering, of being a victim of a crime at your financial institution. I am a survivor of XX/XX/XXXX and take safety and security measures very seriously. I am appalled that this branch failed to ensure my and their customers safety and protection. I look forward to your reply and a resolution to my problem. I will wait before seeking third-party assistance. Please contact me at the above address or by phone XXXX

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Installment loan

Complaint: Dear Sir/Madam : I have enclosed cover letter, exhibits group A and B, nature of the complaints and 'things worth to take a second look ' into my encountering of the predatory loan process in last XX/XX/2018. The application took place at the commercial lending department at JC Morgan Chase, located at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX. I have two major complaints, one is the client manager teamed up with 3rd party ( XXXX ), to prey on his applicant for more fee and charges to close the loan. The other complaint is I was misled by false advertisement, 'flyer of 5 free '. The client manager gave promise there would be only {$2000.00} charge for the loan process, the other {$7000.00} deposit would be refundable even I elected not to close the loan eventually. Everything I said herewith is the whole truth, nothing but the truth. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Credit inquiries on your report that you don't recognize
Complaint: Hello Since XX/XX/XXXX I have had numerous inquiries on my credit report by Chase Bank, Chase Card, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and XXXX Credit Card by Chase. These seem to all be related to Chase. XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX & XX/XX/XXXX ( other dates were removed ) XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX ( other dates were removed ) I contacted Chase twice to let them know I have never applied for a card for them or for an XXXX credit card with Chase. I asked if they would provide me the information used to apply using my name but was denied the data. Twice they placed a 90-day hold but each time it is lifted a new inquiry shows on my credit report. I have also contacted the credit bureau to have them removed off my report and to have a note but do not see one listed. A number of years ago I closed my banking account with Chase Bank due to the bank releasing funds for a bill I did not owe using an old debit card number. Is there any way I can get Chase to halt these inquiries? Thank you

Closing your account

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Company closed your account
Complaint: Received my new credit card on Saturday XX/XX/XXXX. Used it to purchase a tool cart for work and now ( XX/XX/XXXX ) received letter stating account closed due to delinquencies and high balances on other cards. I know I have high utilization of my other cards and make my payments on time ( one account is approximately 9 years old and the other around 4. My main issue is why bother with an approval and sending card if just going to review and close. If that's the case do not approve or mail out card til reviews are done. I have been improving my credit for some time now after having put myself in a bad position years ago and have had no intention of abusing this card and understand if it would have initially been declined but to approve, allow me to make a purchase and then close feels like a twist on bait and switch. I submitted here without contacting chase as reading up on this shows they're doing it to a lot of people arbitrarily. Now my credit report will look worse because chase closing an account with a balance. Also are they expecting full payment immediately or will they abide by the interest free period that agave me reason to apply and use this card? Thank you for your time and assistance.

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Complaint: I received and signed up for an offer associated with my Chase Sapphire Reserve account. The terms state that upon spending {$100.00}, I would receive a cashback of {$20.00} ( screenshot of offer attached ). Due to this offer, I made a purchase of {$140.00} on XXXX. XXXX charged me in 2 separate transactions, with {$63.00} on XX/XX/XXXX, and {$79.00} on XX/XX/XXXX ( screen shot of transactions attached ). I did not received the cashback, suspecting that Chase 's system was not able to identify this transaction over {$100.00} due to the separated transactions. So I called Chase to inform them of this situation, and was informed that their team would contact me within a week. So far, it has been about a month from that conversation, and I have not heard from Chase on a resolution on this matter.

Opening an account

Checking or savings account: Checking account

Unable to open an account
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I went to the Chase XXXX branch in XXXX, VA to open a business checking account with a promotional code I had received in an email. I worked with a bank named XXXX XXXX, who opened the account for me. He took both my driver 's license and court document for my business trade name and made copies/scans of in another room while I sat in the office. A couple days ago, I received a letter postmarked XX/XX/XXXX, saying that additional information is needed to keep the account open, and that I needed to supply this information by XX/XX/XXXX. I did not received this letter until the end of the day on the XXXX, which was a Friday. I called into Chase to try to figure out what exactly they needed, but they would not tell me anything, only that I needed to go to the branch I opened the account in to resolve this issue. No further information was given. I didn't even know what documents were needed to keep my account open. I couldn't visit the branch on Monday due to work, and ended up going the earliest I could, which was Wednesday, XX/XX/XXXX. In between then, I called multiple times to the branch to see what could be done on their end and every time, they said they'd look into it and get back to me, and they never did. Finally, on Wednesday, I went in person, was assigned to a banker named XXXX, who proceeded to take my all my personally identifiable information again and go off into some back room for 15 minutes. When he came back, I asked him what he did, and he said he scanned the documents into the computer and that I should be good to go. I asked him what was missing before that caused this issue, and after 5 minutes of browsing on his computer, he couldn't tell me. I asked him how long it would take to know if the issue was resolved and he told me to call back in 2 business days, but couldn't provide anymore information. Later that day, I decided to call into XXXX myself and try to follow up. I was eventually forwarded to the XXXX compliance department who told me that the account had already been closed on Tuesday, XX/XX/XXXX. This was the day before I went into the bank, had a banker take all of my personally identifiable information into a back room for XXXX minutes XXXX same as the first banker ) and come back and tell me I was " good to go. '' The compliance representative told me the banker should've been able to see my account was closed, and that if I had wanted a checking account, I would've had to open a new XXXX. Therefore, there was no reason for him to take my information to " scan. '' I'm very worried that my personally identifiable information has been compromised at this branch. When I was there, I found out that XXXX XXXX was not even an employee at that branch. When I looked at my paperwork, it showed that my account had been opened in the " XXXX XXXX - XXXX '' branch, which is all the way in New Jersey.

Money was not available when promised

Money transfer, virtual currency, or money service: International money transfer

Complaint: Respected Sir, Date : XX/XX/XXXX I am XXXX, working as a XXXX XXXX and currently living in XXXX, XXXX XXXX. I have lived in USA from XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX on a working VISA in XXXX, Ohio. I have opened a Chase Bank account during that period and used to transfer Money to XXXX from XXXX using XXXX XXXX as a third-party service. XXXX XXXX will get money from my XXXX account and transfer it to my XXXX Account. I had done this couple of times and never had any issue till I was in USA. After XX/XX/XXXX, I had to go back to XXXX and live there since then. On XX/XX/XXXX, I had transferred XXXX dollars to my XXXX account from XXXX with the help of XXXX XXXX XXXX. But on the same day XXXX XXXX declined the transaction saying that they did nt receive money from XXXX ( XXXX XXXX : XXXX : XXXX ). As a result, I had no deposit into my XXXX Account. But XXXX has deducted XXXX dollars from my money claiming that it had transferred money to XXXX XXXX. I had called several times to XXXX asking for my money to refund and had opened a Claim regarding this issue on XX/XX/XXXX. ( Claim Number : XXXX ). Entire communication was in emails or over the phone calls as I had no option to talk to the XXXX Branch as I was living in XXXX. There was no action taken for that claim and my on-line account was also blocked later. I could nt even open my on-line account and do any transaction. I had an impression that I could come back to USA on work VISA and could resolve this issue by talking to Chase directly. But unfortunately, I could not go to USA since then and the issue was not resolved. Lately with the help of a friend living in USA, I could unlock my online account able to do online transactions. I have contacted XXXX again on XX/XX/XXXX, by an email/Phone calls regarding the Claim opened in XXXX, but have not received any response. I finally tried to enquire about the Claim by talking to a XXXX manager with the help of my friend living in XXXX. The Manager was not able to view any information about the claim and has escalated this issue to Claims department. After 2 days, Claims customer service could reach me over the phone. I have explained what has happened so far and gave the Claim number for reference asking them to refund my money. They were not able to trace my Claim as it was 3 yrs old from now and it was closed with no action. When my friend reached the Bank Manager again on this issue, we were told that XXXX can not do anything in this regard and I am supposed lose my XXXX dollars. Just because XXXX can not trace a Claim that is older than 2 years, am I supposed to lose my money?

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Complaint: On XX/XX/19, I was on the united.com site to book a flight. There was a pop-up banner to apply for a United Explorer credit card from Chase Bank to receive XXXX bonus miles ( after {$2000.00} spent on the card in three months ) and a {$250.00} statement credit after my first purchase. There was even a box calculating my flight cost less the {$250.00} for my total cost. I was skeptical but decided to apply. I clicked the box, completed the application, and was approved for a {$24000.00} credit line in just a few minutes. I then booked my flight using my new United Explorer credit card number. I received my credit card in the mail and called to confirm the receipt on XX/XX/19. While on the line, I asked a customer service representative to confirm my {$250.00} statement credit. She told me that I instead received XXXX miles that could only be earned with thousands of dollars of purchases in the first three months and the first six months. I spoke with her manager, XXXX, in the XXXX office. She told me that they could not correct or switch me to the offer I applied for. Later that same evening, I was on the united.com site to research a flight for my son and the same XXXX miles and {$250.00} statement credit is still in the pop-up banner. I called customer service again and spoke with XXXX in the XXXX office. She agreed that the situation was not fair to me but after checking with her manager, confirmed that they could not correct or switch to the offer I applied for. I believe this is a bait and switch, and that Chase Bank never intended to honor the offer.
