Charged fees or interest you didn't expect

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Personal line of credit

Complaint: I took out a loan with XXXX XXXX XXXX. The first loan I was able to repay they then refused to close my account. Later they raised my credit amount. I needed some extra money for a personal emergency and went back to take out a loan that I could repay in one or two months. Unfortunately I lost my job in this time and informed them that I would not be able to repay the loan as quickly as I had planed. After one missed payment the intrest on the loan was one thouand more than the actual loan amount. I released that repayment would be impossible and requested they close the account and put my loan into collections so I could make the payment back. They refused to close the account and after informing them that I could not repay the loan they told me that not only would they not close the loan but would continue to charge me interest even with no payments being made. I have no idea how much they will try and charge me before they actually send this to a debt collection or court. I am in need of help with this company. I also requested that they do not automatically withdrawal from my account and they did so anyway. they told me it was for convenience but it caused an overdraft on my account. I have now asked them to stop two times and now also another in writing.

Can't stop withdrawals from your bank account

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Payday loan

Complaint: I already submitted a prior claim on XX/XX/18 regarding the same issue with this company. I revoked ACH and debit authorizations and the company still debited my account. After I submitted my claim the company 's customer relationship manager spoke with me. I explained that I revoked my authorization and she acknowledged they mistakenly debited my account and they credited my account back the following week. I also explained that I am going through severe financial hardship after separating from my husband and raising XXXX small children. She said she would work with me on the account and give me a few months to work things out and then my account was debited AGAIN on XX/XX/18 without my authorization causing me additional financial hardship because my rent is late due to a debit in the amount of {$300.00} that I was not aware of and DID NOT authorize. I now have late fees to pay on top of everything else I am going through. What so I need to do to get this company to stop debiting my account without my authorization?

Getting the loan

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Installment loan

Complaint: I found this co. online. I called to ask questions about the CA Flex Loan prior to applying. I asked enough questions to give me a comfort level with applying with them. The original rep told me to go for it & assured me they were fair & their process wasn't necessarily credit based. A little odd but intriguing. So I did apply on XXXX. As soon as I hit the button to submit I was declined in 2-5 seconds! I was horrified because the message on the screen said " after careful consideration '' they declined my app. Careful consideration??? It took around 5 seconds! That's not considerable! I called & requested a call back per the online message. The rep I spoke to said he didn't understand that either. He said the numbers looked good & to go online & submit the required docs. I tried today, the system repeated I was declined. The weird thing is I got back to back emails : 1 said submit my docs, the last 1 said you're declined! He thought that was odd too. When I tried again this AM I wasn't able to do it. I called again & spoke to a rep. She sent me a bank verification email but came back on the line & said that they couldn't approve me. No reason given, I asked several times " why ''? No reason was given. She transferred me to cust. svc. I spoke to XXXX. She said the reason I was declined is because the system didn't receive the required docs to approve me & would automatically decline me. I was never asked to provide any docs during the course of the 5-7 mins. it took to complete the online app! She told me how to submit the docs & asked that I give the underwriters time to do the verification process. I did but heard nothing back, not even that I was approved or declined. I called at XXXX XXXX PST & requested a call back. The caller said they declined me again! I didn't get an email stating that so I wasted an entire day today waiting for them to reconsider based on my submission of the info and giving them access to verify my bank info & sending my ID over the internet to them, to have them tell me again, I'm declined but no reason was given. So I decided to file this complaint. They seem to have good reviews. I did see 1 that mentioned pretty much what I'm saying. They got 1 star for that. They get the same from me. Their people are very nice & polite. That's a plus. However, their approval process is totally wacky & doesn't make 1 drop of sense when no one can explain " why '' it does what it does. Hard money lenders are just unbelievable! How are they able to stay in business? Not just this co. but every hard money lender out there that has these horrible systems, declines people but doesn't say why, no one knows why anything happens, half the time you don't get Reg B letters & you have no idea how secure your info is with them! What in the world is going on out there in Credit Land USA???? These creditors are just going crazy with their ridiculous policies & requirements! I work in the credit business. I just don't qualify for traditional loans. The people in the hard money side of this business really don't understand credit or what should be disclosed or not. Now their decline message tells you to call them to discuss. You do & you're just wasting your time. I told the last lady before I hung up that I was going to file formal complaints. This needs to be addressed! If these hard money lenders want to lend at 100-450 % interest rates on $ 300- {$5000.00} unsecured money then they need to obey Fair Credit Act laws just like traditional lenders do. This is just too much. I am angered that I wasted an entire day on them giving me hope that I would be approved. They're just liars is all. Typical hard money lender 's attitude. Plain rude & deceitful in my opinion! I could've done something else other than keeping my phone close by so as not to miss their call. I wouldn't recommend or do business with them now or ever.

Money was taken from your bank account on the wrong day or for the wrong amount

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Title loan

Complaint: I filed a CFBP complaint in XX/XX/2018 regarding XXXX XXXX and the repayment information not properly discussed with me as well as the perception the company creates with advertisement of products ; when the repayment plan is actually not all as described. Prior to the CFPB compliant and once post compliant filing, I requested information in writing or electric ( email ) format. They attempted to call but based on my experience, I do not feel comfortable or trust information that would be verbally disclosed ; which is why I requested the information be issued email. To date, I have not yet received response as requested. In fact, XXXX XXXX has always auto debited my account via XXXX. XXXX XXXX stopped debiting my account, without any request from me or any notification to me regarding the decision by XXXX XXXX to cease the auto payments. During this time, I still did not receive the requested answers via email or written format ; as requested. Again, at no point did I request XXXX XXXX to stop auto debit payments ; that was a sole decision by XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2018, it appears that XXXX XXXX made the decision to resume auto debiting my account as there were eight debits totaling {$2500.00}. Needless to say, that left me minimal funds to survive for the next two weeks. As I stated, XXXX XXXX made the sole decision to cease auto debits at the time I filed the complaints but yet, XXXX XXXX then made the sole decision to debit my account eight times on the same date exceeding {$2500.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, my account was debited in the amount of {$360.00}. On XX/XX/2018, my account was debited twice ; once in the amount of {$360.00} and once in the amount of {$1500.00}. It would appear that XXXX XXXX wanted to appear to be taking action by not debiting my account at the time of the initial CFPB compliant but yet, once the claim was closed, XXXX XXXX made the decision to immediately debit my account eight times. Is this a form of retaliation or intimidation for filing the CFPB. It certainly feels that way. On XX/XX/2018, I made contact to XXXX XXXX telephonically and was notified by the representative that the representative could see the eight auto debits/payments on XX/XX/2018, the one payment ( {$360.00} ) on XX/XX/2018, and the two auto debited payments ( {$360.00}, {$1500.00} ) processed today, XX/XX/2018. The representative advised that the multiple payments deducted on XX/XX/2018 were for being behind on the account. Again, XXXX XXXX made the decision to stop debiting my account at the time I filed the CFBP complaint and yet, then auto debited my account eight times on the same date for alleged non-payment. At no point did I contact XXXX XXXX and make the request to stop the auto debits. For XXXX XXXX to indicate that I failed to remit payment when the payments were auto debited, which XXXX XXXX made the choice to stop at the time I submitted the CFPB complaint, but yet XXXX XXXX is presenting as though I was failing to remit payment. If that is the case, then it also effects my credit. In addition, the XXXX XXXX representative advised that she did not know why my account was debited the {$1500.00}. The representative indicated I didnt know how they came up with that number and that Id have to talk to XXXX XXXX. The representative apologized and again indicated she did not know why my account was debited twice today, XX/XX/2018. I was notified by the XXXX XXXX representative that XXXX XXXX was available M-F XXXX. I requested to be transferred to XXXX XXXX voicemail and was placed on hold. The XXXX XXXX representative then returned to the call stating she was not able to transfer the call and advised that I could reach XXXX XXXX voicemail by calling XXXX. I dialed the phone number which was picked up immediately picked up by recordings for XXXX XXXX advertisement and after approximately 1.5 minutes ; I received XXXX XXXX voicemail. I left a voicemail message indicating my name and the purpose of my call ( aforementioned debits ) and requested that a response be issued to me in writing via email and provided my email address multiple times.

Can't stop withdrawals from your bank account

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Payday loan

Complaint: As of late XX/XX/2018, the Advance Financial company, a payday lender headquartered in XXXX, Tennessee, was notified in writing of my revocation of the ACH for automatic debit withdrawals from my bank account. Over the period after which such notice was provided, three separate payments, amounting in total to {$250.00}, have been deducted from my account. I have contacted AF in order to request that these charges be reversed, yet no restitution has been provided as of this writing. Attempts to verify the receipt of and commitment to honor the ACH revocation with the AF legal department have been unsuccessful.

Charged fees or interest you didn't expect

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Payday loan

Complaint: XXXX XXXX is charging 279.50 % Interest on my loan and over 80 % of my payments are going to with is called " CustomaryFee '' instead of interest or principle. For example, XXXX XXXX took {$270.00} out of my last biweekly paycheck and {$210.00} was charged as " CustomaryFee ''. This seems to be predatory and with such a high interest rate, I will never be able to pay this loan off. It is a trap.

Struggling to pay your loan

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Payday loan

Complaint: I have a " FlexLoan '' from XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX beginning in XX/XX/2017 when I had several unexpected expenses. I had to use one transaction to even pay my rent. I understand this is not meant to be inexpensive credit and there are warnings about not borrowing too much, but I never saw the interest rate charged until I logged in and pulled up statements. Way at the bottom the rate is shown to be 279.50 %! No wonder I can not get ahead! On the original {$3800.00} borrowed, I am paying {$900.00} per month. The terrible thing is my balanced owed is going up each month due to compounding interest! I contacted XXXX asking for a way to lower my interest rate - they say that is not possible. I asked to close the account and setup a reduced repayment plan and they refuse. What is my recourse? I want to honor this debt but the outrageous interest rate and compounding is making this very difficult! Thank you for your assistance. XXXX XXXX XXXX

Charged fees or interest you didn't expect

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Installment loan

Complaint: I called the company on XX/XX/XXXX and explained that my income level has changed. I have been making payments toward this account for four months. the payments are semi monthly and range between {$320.00} to {$350.00} per payment. the original loan amount was {$2400.00} and even though I am making payments regularly, I still have a balance of well over {$2900.00} dollars. Only XXXX per payment is being applied to the principal balance of the loan. it is not explained that the account adds interest each day that the loan is not paid off. I called on the date listed above to request a settlement to pay the balance in full since my income has changed. I was informed that this is not an option. I was advised that the total balance due was going to increase by more than {$700.00} at the end of XX/XX/XXXX.

Charged fees or interest you didn't expect

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Title loan

Complaint: I obtained a flex loan with XXXX XXXX on approximately XX/XX/XXXXin the amount of {$4000.00}. This loan was taken with the understanding that it was a higher rate loan, however the repayment terms were not disclosed or explained to me properly. XXXX XXXX advertises the loans are between the amounts of {$25.00} and {$4000.00}. However, the repayment examples advertised by XXXX XXXX are not for the {$4000.00} flex loans, as I do not feel that they would conduct the volume of business that they do if the examples were for the {$4000.00} flex loan. In addition, XXXX XXXX does not advertise the repayment examples extended past a fourteen-day period, but extend the repayment terms past fourteen days. The fees applied and the terms of repayment change drastically the longer you maintained the loan. XXXX XXXX list the APR as 279.50 %, however since this is a rate of the cost of the loan ; XXXX XXXX basically charges a percentage every two weeks as a customary fee. For example, in XX/XX/XXXX, I paid {$9500.00} in customary fee, interest in the amount of {$890.00} and total interest charged in the amount of {$10000.00}. These details are reflected on the XX/XX/XXXX statement. That is just for XX/XX/XXXX. On the statement dated XX/XX/XXXX, the following totals are listed : customary fees totaling {$1400.00}, interest totaling {$140.00} and total interest charged in the amount of {$1600.00}. In XX/XX/XXXX, I was diagnosed with a serious medical condition and contacted XXXX XXXX to request a loan workout. I worked with obtaining documentation that was issued to a XXXX XXXX and subsequently, approved. I add that XXXX XXXX is the ONLY EMPLOYEE that has been helpful. Unfortunately, I was hospitalized during the workout time period, unable to make contact with anyone, much less XXXX XXXX to issue payment. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX debited my checking account twice totaling {$960.00} ; both debits were in the amount of {$480.00}. When I was not able to receive any information from XXXX XXXX regarding the two debits, the bank returned one of the debits to XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX debited my checking account twice totaling {$480.00}. The payment specifics are as follows : payment # XXXX in the amount of {$450.00} and payment # XXXX in the amount of {$21.00}. Note that the principal amount does not reflect change although two payments were transacted. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX debited my checking account twice totaling $ {$890.00}. The payments specifics are as follows : payment # XXXX in the amount of {$450.00} and payment # XXXX in the amount of {$440.00}. Note that the principal amount does not reflect change although two payments were transacted. On XX/XX/XXXX, I issued an email to XXXX XXXX 24/7 requesting written notification of the reasons in which XXXX XXXX debiting my account multiple times, when the payment should have only debited my account. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX debited my checking account twice totaling {$900.00}. The payments specifics are as follows : payment # XXXX in the amount of {$430.00} and payment # XXXX in the amount of {$460.00}. Note that the principal amount does not reflect change although two payments were transacted. As of XX/XX/XXXX, I had not received follow up as requested by XXXX XXXX, and thus, I issued an additional email ; which is also attached. In the email issued to XXXX XXXX I again requested written notification of the reasons for XXXX XXXX debiting my account multiple times. As of today, XX/XX/XXXX, I have yet to receive the requested information from XXXX XXXX XXXX. As of today, XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX reflects the following : Payoff Amount : {$3000.00} Principal Balance : XXXX Available Credit : {$1500.00} As mentioned, I have previously issued communication with XXXX XXXX inquiring if the flex loan could be closed to prevent such high interest charges being charged to the account in an attempt to payoff the flex loan. I was notified that was not possible. I was advised that once I paid off the loan and it maintained a {$0.00} balance for specific time period then the loan would automatically close. XXXX XXXX does however, send email notifications and other consumer mailings to notify me of the available credit to borrow. It would appear as though they want a consumer to continue to borrow in order to profit the high interest rates. My vehicle is collateral on the loan and XXXX XXXX has the title in their possession. So while XXXX XXXX continues to make money on a flex loan, they also have the title to my vehicle. Why are these companies not forced to adhere to the state regulated maximum rates set by regulators and not required to prove a customer ability repay a debt based off their own repayment terms? I cant believe that any financial institution would operate under these pretenses. Do you employees get incentives for debiting customers accounts multiple times? It would appear that some type of practice is occurring as the concerns I have expressed and the requests I have issued through multiple emails ; have yet to be addressed. I am happy to provide account statements, email messages issued to XXXX XXXX and any other requested records. Lastly, I obtained the loan documents on XX/XX/XXXX, which reflects my electronic signature. There is a ACH acknowledgement datedXX/XX/XXXX that reflects as though it was electronically signed by me. The loan records dated XX/XX/XXXX, so why would there be one datedXX/XX/XXXX with the same exact account information listed on the initial form I signed. How was this form obtained?

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Payday loan

Complaint: I applied in XX/XX/XXXXafter receiving a mailer from the company. I was trying not to withdraw much, just enough to ease me between a long stretch. I am paid early inXX/XX/XXXX. and not again until XX/XX/XXXX. I guess I over-did it a bit during XX/XX/XXXX, but I was expecting help from my ex-husband who had promised. When I asked in XX/XX/XXXX., he said he could not help, so I ended up taking out the max. I have now paid them both my federal and my state refunds and still owe more than I borrowed. Every month I am charged $ 500-600 in interest and the principle keeps going up. I have paid in all the extra I am going to have this year, so I fear the principle and the interest climbing so high so fast. If they could just give me an installment loan to pay this off with, nomatter how high the interest, so that I could afford it and eventually it would be paid, instead of it just sitting there growing in spite of my paying all I can.
