Complaint: I can not close my deceased uncle XXXX XXXX XXXX 's accounts at Huntington Bank because they will not recognize my unique position. I was Representative Payee, Power of Attorney, Medical Power of Attorney, and Executrix of my uncle 's small monetary holdings. He passed in XXXX 2015 at the VA nursing home. When I went to the XXXX County Courthouse in XXXX, WV in XXXX, I understood in this case that I could just proceed to follow the will without the lengthy probate process. My uncle was never married, no children, no property. All I needed to do as Executrix was pay the bills which I had been doing for years ( my uncle was in the Veteran Nursing Home in XXXX, WV at the time of his death ) and disburse the funds according to the will. These funds by will, were to be divided XXXX ways between his XXXX siblings ( or their families if they had passed first ). This I have done with approximately {$21000.00} of the total approx. {$30000.00} that existed at the time of death. My problem now is that when I went to close the Huntington Bank accounts ( one was VA administered through me, one was personal and Social Security administered by me ) and place the approximately XXXX left at Huntington into the estate account at XXXX XXXX Bank to disburse to the heirs, Huntington froze the accounts. This is not consistent with logic. After Huntington was notified of my uncle 's passing in XXXX they continued to honor my checks in XXXX and XXXX but now they can not? Apparently for some reason, even though he passed, I was authorized to write checks for those months, but now I can not close the account. Had I just written checks, it appears that I would have been fine, but there is some policy in place that prevents my closing the accounts and now I am told they are frozen. This is quite a predicament. I am well past the 30 days from demise for a probate process ; and the bank will not honor any of the means I have to prove that I am the responsible party to administer and distribute the funds. Since I have hit this roadblock, I have made appointments at the courthouse and with an attorney to see if they have any alternate advice, but I ca n't understand why there is not a process at this bank to verify my documents and proceed, as the insurance company and the other bank has been able to acknowledge. When I talked to the VA and the Social Security client services, they supported me in my belief that there should be a way to acknowledge my documentation and the federally appointed position I was in to administer my uncle 's fiduciary interests.
Since this roadblock occurred last Friday XXXX XXXX, I have talked to numerous levels of a number of organizations, even representatives at Huntington Customer Service were surprised at the opposition I was meeting. I was told it is a Huntington WV policy, NOT a WV law, and that the policy was administered by each branch of Huntington, I was even told by a Huntington team member to go to a different branch!
And now that I am being drug into a policy war, it seems, I am submitting this complaint in hopes that a reasonable policy can be put in place for this extremely rare circumstance that I am apparently in and also I hope for a personal remedy for my family.
Furthermore, this situation which is taking enormous amounts of my time, reminds me to point out the inconsistency in which things have been handled to date. Also, I want to point out that this branch was actually at fault for recommending and initiating a bank product for my uncle that a bank examiner voided out. That is why the major part of my uncle 's money was no longer at Huntington Bank in the first place.

Complaint: Huntington Bank denied me access to my checking account. Due to profiling customers, deposits at the ATM were held ( disclosure was made at ATM regarding no immediate availability on deposited checks ). I was not able to access my account online or by mobile app. Upon inquiring via phone as well as visiting the XXXX Officed ( XXXX ), I was informed my account was pending closure and no access would be granted until the checks cleared. I accept the pending hold until the checks clear, I do not accept preventing me from viewing my account. The deposited checks were from my XXXX checking account which has direct deposit of funds received for death benefits for my husband who died XXXX/XXXX/15. The direct deposit in the XXXX account ( XXXX ) had not been received on the date the insurance company promised. I explained this to Huntington reps numerous times.
I was told that nothing can be done about access to my account and they continue to hold this matter as a security issue until XXXX even though I explained the problem with my direct deposits at XXXX. I have been in contact with the insurance company responsible for the direct deposits, as well. I had checks returned by XXXX on a previous deposit and by profiling my account activity, the account is on hold to close. My SSI funds are due to be direct deposited into Huntington on XXXX. I want access to my account immediately.
I needed checking account statements for my mortgage company and was not able to obtain them online. I had to order them from Huntington and they will charge {$5.00} each,

Debt was paid
Complaint: Last week we settled a debt with the law firm, XXXX , XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. They represented Huntington Bank in a repossession of a car. They told us we had to pay a minimum of {$2000.00} to get the hold taken off of the bank account I have with my husband. We paid {$7000.00} and they were willing to call the debt paid since that was the bulk of the debt. They told us all holds would be taken off and they would handle the legal work. We asked for documentation that the debt had been paid and that we would n't be bothered by them again. It has been a week later and the hold on our bank account has not been taken off and we have received no documentation that the debt has been paid. We want this finished. Please help us.

Threatened to sue on too old debt
Complaint: I was contacted by a company calling itself XXXX XXXX XXXX about a debt from a repossessed vehicle XX/XX/XXXX, almost XXXX years ago. The original loan was through Huntington Bank. They even called my parents home which I have n't lived at since XX/XX/XXXX. I was told they were taking legal action against me if I did n't clear the debt immediately. She then tried to get a credit card number from me. I asked for the business address which she refused to give me, then she hung up the phone. The caller id from the call was XXXX. When you call that number it rings then just hangs up. The number that was left on my answering machine was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Someone answers that number with a simple " hello how can i help you? '' A search of the internet for " XXXX XXXX XXXX '' yields no results.

Complaint: This is a follow-up to the complaint with Hunting bank. They responded in XXXX but I was not able to login to my account to view their response until just today. I call the cfpb a couple of times saying that I was not able to login to my account there, but never got a response other than someone would get back to me, but they did n't.
I disagree with their response that I refused their offer to re-finance under their home savers program. What happened is that I was working with a XXXX XXXX, a mortgage officer at their XXXX XXXX. This person was very unresponsive and inept in dealing with my problem. She thought that she could do a refinance on both my first and second mortgage despite the fact that I was already past due by a month on paying my loan balance to them of over {$52000.00}. By the way, I did contact her as soon as I got the notice form the bank that my entire loan balance was due and payable in full, but she was slow in getting back to me and did not return my calls.
After her working on the refinance for over XXXX months, she finally told me that she could not do the loan as my payment of the {$52000.00} to her bank was not paid and my account was past due. She knew this back in XXXX and should have told me at that time. If she had been a competent loan officer, she would and known when I first contacted her that she could not do the loan. At that point, I would have accepted the first offer from their XXXX XXXX department. Because of the way she handled this, I had hope that she was able to refinance both my first and second mortgage at a lower rate than the XXXX XXXX department offered. Because of how she handled this, I had to re-apply for the XXXX XXXX option and it took several more months of missing payments. I found that there was no communication between the various departments at Huntington Bank involved in my problem, despite the fact that I told each department which other departments I had talked to and gave names of who I was talking to in each department.
Because of the way this whole thing was handled, not only is this costing me more because of the payments I missed, but I was approved at XXXX other mortgage companies for much lower interest rates to refinance XXXX mortgages but was only rejected at the last minute in XXXX case when Huntington Bank told them that my loan was past due.
