Complaint: The bank, Huntington Bank, had given me a wrong bank account number which caused my direct deposit to bounce back and my account to go into the negative. They charged me a total of {$280.00} on an overdraft of {$27.00} dollars that 's an almost 800 % interest rate. This is unfair half my check was gone and it was their fault to begin.
I was given the run around for a week speaking to several customer service managers ; XXXX, XXXX and a Voicemail that was never answered by a XXXX at least that is what his out going message said his name was but when I called back he was non existent.
This is unfair and predatory especially since it was their mistake

Complaint: I am a first time home owner, and decided to use Huntington bank since I have my checking and credit card with them. I was instantly approved after I sent my application in, which was very exciting for me. After looking at many homes I found the house of my dreams and financial comfort zone. The home was approved by Huntington bank and than after three and a half months, three closing dates, and unknown to me three credit checks they decided to refuse my loan after stating for the second time that my income was higher in XX/XX/XXXX than XX/XX/XXXX. My mortgage lender and her manager would never return my calls and requested the same info from me two to three times. After running my first credit report I had to get some info to them which I did. They knew about my XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX income because I had to send them my whole tax return and pay stubs for both those years not once but twice, please note that I thought their repeated requests for the same info was normal since I never had a mortgage before. I have emails from them and text messages stating that all was good and that closing dates were days away. After months of this I got my mom involved to help as I am working thru the day, she spoke directly to XXXX XXXX the mortgage reps boss and had her contact XXXX to clear up a discrepancy that they found after running my credit again, which was paid for in XX/XX/XXXX. Why they took multiple times to find this on my credit told us that they have mishandled my whole loan while lowering my credit rating substantially. My mortgage office XXXX XXXX was horrible but I think her manager, XXXX, misguided her. This has been an awful experience for me, I tried calling them numerous times but never would either of them call me back. This has been over three and a half months and the day I was told i was going to close ( which was not the first or second date ) they sent me an email! In the emal XXXX said that XXXX was going to call which I knew he would n't and he did n't. I felt as thou XXXX knew he was n't going to give me a loan and since I am a young first time home owner he would just treat me as though I did n't matter to Huntington or him. Insurance for my home was put in place twice once by encompass and than XXXX, which was paid in full because closing was forth coming. Again I was told they needed to change the closing date and ran my credit again which I had no ideal. we handled that and was given another closing date I was told repeatedly my home owners insurance was too high even thou my dads been in the business for thirty years, I than went to XXXX and received a comparable home owners insurance quote thru numerous conversations with XXXX we put insurance in place and forwarded a certificate of home insurance to her attention yet again they needed additional information we again had to put insurance on hold until we were able to gather necessary info. We were again given a closing date the Following week we received an email not a phone call rejecting us for the loan, because of the prolonged underwriting procedure the purchase of my home was put in jeopardy and had to once again go to the seller and ask for another extension which was the third one. I can not stress enough the unprofessional way of which I was treated by huntingtons mortgage department.

Complaint: On Saturday XXXX, I came across a website which promised {$300.00} just for opening a Huntington 5 checking account. There was no minimum deposit required or any other special terms. The process asked for information to assure adequate security in opening an account. In order to avoid service charges a minimum balance must be maintained of $ XXXX. The terms of the account only referenced an early closing but did not disclose the fee. I called customer service to inquire about this fee. No one from the bank could answer the question. ( After opening the account when the first Statenent was posted, the statement disclosed a change of terms eliminating an early closing fee. ) The {$300.00} bonus was to be deposited within " 14 days of opening the account ''. At this time, Huntington has failed to fulfill the {$300.00} bonus deposit. On XXXX XXXX, I stopped at the local branch in XXXX PA and the 'personal banker ' XXXX XXXX reviewed the website and agreed it appeared to be unconditional. XXXX XXXX called the Huntington XXXX and was told that the account require a code. ( There was an early screen in the Internet process that inquired if I had a code but no where did the website state or infer that the {$300.00} bonus required " a code '' to be eligible for the {$300.00} bonus. The account opening process appeared to be identical without to that that without a code and no point did the terms, screens or process state the account was ineligible for the bonus. I am now being told that there should have been some XXXX code ' generated if I did n't already have a code to put into the account. There was no such code or message generated as suggested. At the XXXX, PA, ( XXXX ) location. XXXX attempt to get an answer was without success and he relayed what the ( XXXX ) customer service rep he spoke with was that I should request an internal investigation which I did on line later that day, ) XXXX XXXX ) explaining the concern. I was then told I would have to follow up with the bank in 5 business days to learn them status of the bank 's investigation. I though it poor customer service, that I they would not initiate a response to me their own, but was told they could n't contact me! On XXXX I did call the same toll free number back, only to be told since no code was entered the account was ineligible for the {$300.00}. I explained again the nature of the concern and what appears now to be false and misleading consumer fraud and that at no time did the web process ever indicate such a requirement nor did the screen with radio buttons 'yes ' or 'no ' where it asked if I had a code. No where did the process ever describe was meant by a " code '' nor condition the Bonus on entering a code. In a third follow up attempt, on Mon., XXXX, XXXX, I was told they ( XXXX ) would again investigate the concern. This has now gone on for over 4 weeks without resolution. The Huntington ad campaign is located at XXXX The offer was advertised as available through XXXX XXXX and still is active without any modification. The offer page states : [ " Huntington 5 Checking and {$300.00}. Just open a new Huntington 5 Checking account. By XXXX, and the {$300.00} bonus will be deposited into your checking account within 14 days. It 's really that simple. To get started, just click the Apply button below. Be sure to have your Promotion Code handy. '' ] There was no explanation of what the promotion code reference meant nor was there any screen which indicated by choosing the 'no ' radio button that I did n't have a code, the account was ineligible for the bonus nor did any scree state that the bonus requires a code. I believe this is consumer fraud by this banking institution. I suspect others may have been mislead by this internet scheme not unlike 'bait and switch. '' Huntington has made no effort to correct the website.

Complaint: There was a Deposit applied to our account in the amount of {$1000.00} for a reversed check made by our bank Huntington. My wife called and spoke with a customer representative who confirmed that the money was ours and it was OK to use. A week later they withdrew the money without us knowing causing our account to be negative. We again called Huntington and they could not provide us with any resolution and only escalated the call. We called in originally to prevent this from happening. How can we be held accountable for their mistake after receiving verbal confirmation as well as the call being documented in there call software as approved funds.

Complaint: I had a checking account XX/XX/XXXX with Huntington Bank. I had a item that returned and was NSF fee at the time. This fee was unpaid due to the lack of me being able to afford it and over time the fees were just tacked on to make my balance {$170.00}. I have since then filed bankruptcy in XX/XX/XXXX. Today, I have a checking account with this same bank and have for a year now. Today I wake up to my account being short {$170.00} because they decided after three years and since then a new account, they would take their money without me being aware of it. This debt has not only been sent to collections but was also included in my bankruptcy.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I noticed a " Miscellaneous '' debt in the amount of {$470.00} to my checking account with The Huntington National Bank. I immediately called the customer service hot line and spoke with a representative. The representative said she could not see what the charge was, but it looked like it had been initiated at a banking office. She stated that since the charge was still in pending status that I had to wait for it to clear before I could find out what it was. The morning of XXXX XXXX, XXXX I looked at my bank balance and the charge listed as " OD Recovery ''. I went to my local branch office in XXXX Ohio, XXXX XXXX location to find out what was going on. The man I spoke with, XXXX XXXX, made a phone call and after several minutes informed me that it was Huntington that took the money out of my account. It was supposedly to pay off a closed account from XXXX that charged off in the amount of {$470.00}. This money was taken out of my current checking account, without warning/notice. I received no notification that this was going to take place. I was given no chance to investigate if it is even a factual/legitimate debt that I owe. Furthermore, I have check written on that account that will now bounce or withdraw my current account. The banker that I spoke with, XXXX, said they had been trying to take the money out of my account for years and now they " finally got it ''. When I asked him why I was n't notified that I was going to be withdrawn from my account, he said I will be receiving a letter, after the fact, of course. When I asked him what I was to do about the checks I have outstanding on my account, that I had the funds to cover, until this morning when they took money out of my account without permission, he said I should turn to a church.
