Complaint: I have a mortgage with Huntington National Bank since XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX I suffered a sudden onset XXXX that ended my 20+ year career in XXXX XXXX. I immediately was thrown into a whirlwind of financial difficulties. I have worked with Huntington on many occasions, receiving to date 2 loan modifications. After finally securing a job that will pay my bills, I have been working on catching up on all my bills. A few months ago ( I believe in XX/XX/XXXX ), I reached out to Huntington to catch up and was put on a repayment plan. On that date, I had to make one initial payment of {$930.00} ( regular mortgage payment ), and then make additional payments of $ XXXX month for 6 months. I entered into this agreement and was doing what I was suppose to. Around XX/XX/XXXX I received a loan modification packet from Huntington stating I was behind in my mortgage ; I immediately called Huntington and advised I was in a repayment plan and was assured not to worry about the packet.
In XX/XX/XXXX I tried to make my {$1300.00} payment as scheduled but was told they would not accept my payment as my repayment plan had been cancelled the day prior. I was informed I would need to make 2 full payments to stop the home from going into foreclosure. Upon asking questions, I was told that the reason the repayment plan had been cancelled was due to a " misapplying of funds '' on my account. I was told that he would need to submit to get the issue resolved and then I could make a payment. I specifically asked what I would need to restart the repayment plan and he stated it would be just like the first time, I would make a full payment and then the balance would get spread out under a new repayment plan. I was advised that I would be contacted when this was completed. I was never contacted, the next notice I received was a " right to cure default '' letter giving me until XX/XX/XXXX.
On today 's date, I called in to make a payment and get back on the repayment plan as instructed by the previous employee. I spoke to XXXX who stated I would need to make 2 full payments to get on the repayment plan. I advised the conversation I had with the previous employee and was told that the misapplied issue had been resolved but there was no notes about the rest of the conversation, but even so, the investor required 2 full payments. I advised that the previous conversation was recorded by them, I was doing everything I was told to do, and I simply did not have 2 full payments to make today. She was unable to help me any further but did state she will send me out another loan modification packet and gave me a state assistance website of www.savethedream.ohio.gov to seek additional help. I am pursuing that I asked XXXX ( who was extremely nice as has been EVERYONE I have spoken to at Huntington ) if I could speak to a supervisor to file an official complaint as I had been given bad information from them that I was following and now I was being told that my house will be foreclosed upon. I was transferred to XXXX XXXX who I explained the entire scenario to and asked her to review the phone recording so she could see I was doing everything I was told ; she stated she believed me ( I do not know if she did review the recording or not ). She put me on hold to research the misapplied funds.
After a few moments, she returned to the phone and stated that I was missing an entire payment (XX/XX/XXXX - first I had heard about this ). She asked me to research if I had made the payment and to contact her back on her direct line of XXXX. Upon researching my checking account, I can not seem to find a payment made and am unsure what happened. I am still researching that.
My complaint is multi faceted - First, the misapplied funds were explained by XXXX as " an error '' made by the " cash processing '' department. She stated that funds were erringly applied to principal as opposed to suspense. Second, I followed the employee 's information from myXX/XX/XXXX conversation. XXXX advised that he gave me " mi-info '' ; that mis-info as well as the misapplied funds have now put my family in jeopardy of foreclosure. Now I am being told that the reason is a missed payment ( I am not sure I missed the payment but can not argue it yet as I do not have proof of the payment ) - however I was told by XXXX that if that payment is found and I make a payment today I would be OK as the investor mandates 2 full payments. Had I been informed of this missed payment in XX/XX/XXXX, I would have been able to make 2 payments and resolved the issue earlier by saving the funds to do so.
Bottom line, I understand I am behind on my mortgage but I have been doing everything I can to make it right. In this case, I was following the specific direction of the customer service rep who gave me " misinfo '', after the cash processing department " misapplied funds '', and now I am in real danger of losing our family home.
I do not know what can be done, I am working with every available agency that I can to get assistance ( my problem is I am now working and making a decent income so I do not qualify for some assistance ). Even if this eventually ends in me losing my home ; Huntington needs to be looked into as I feel I am in the position I am today based on their errors.
Errors : 1 ) misapplied funds by cash processing department - even after my phone call receiving the loan modification packet.
2 ) misinfo provided by customer service rep. - a quick review of the recorded phone call would quickly identify what he said and my clarification as to how much finds I would need to restart a repayment plan.
3 ) Real reason ( as stated by XXXX today ) for cancellation of repayment plan not given in time for me to remedy - IF, once again I am not sure at this time, but IF I had been told about the missing payment before the foreclosure process was started, I would have been able to come up with the payment before the deadline to cure default set for next week.
Any help you can provide is appreciated. As I stated to Huntington, I understand I owe the mortgage payments and have been and will continue doing everything I possibly can to make this right. I simply do not have 2 full payments to make the payment.

Bounced checks or returned payments
Complaint: I have been charged overdraft fees and checks have been returned on my account causing more fees fro m other companies too also charge me fees for reprocessing the checks that have been returned. Huntington Bank states that they give you 24 hours grace but they do n't. In fact one day they gave me no notice at all : returned a payment to my credit card company and charged me a fee & this was all on a Sunday ( not even during banking hours. Also- I am signed up for text alerts, email alerts, daily balance alerts, etc. I was not notified of anything in advance. Only after the fact. I was charged XXXX XXXX , XXXX , XXXX XXXX by Huntington Bank and then XXXX dollars by XXXX for redeposit of checks tha t Huntington had sent back without notice and without 24 hour g race. I had tried to buy something with my debit card & I had been approved to go into the negative on my debit card was declined - the branch manager returned XXXX overdraft fee one tim e because he said that was wrong- but I still had to pay the XXXX dollar fee to XXXX XXXX . Huntington refused to heed my complaint so I thought maybe you could help. Is n't this false advertising?

Account status incorrect
Complaint: My HELOC with XXXX XXXX XXXX termed out XX/XX/XXXX and at end of term XXXX XXXX sent a statement showing the total balance due. Seeing that I did not have over {$300000.00} on hand I called XXXX XXXX XXXX for guidance. I was told by a representative to continue making monthly payments of {$1000.00} to at least cover the interest while they sort things out. I then received an alert on my credit report that I was being reported as late, even though I made {$1000.00} payments from XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX. I then called the XXXX XXXX customer service line. The XXXX XXXX XXXX representative told me several times the credit reporting would be reversed, yet each month things got worse not reversed. I talked to my branch contact XXXX XXXX who called customer service on my behalf many times. Then Huntington Bank took over XXXX XXXX XXXX and now many of the personnel familiar with my situation are no longer employed by Huntington Bank. Luckily my XXXX XXXX branch contact XXXX XXXX is still with Huntington Bank. XXXX has made and continues to make several phone calls and has also been told mulitple times that the reporting is being corrected. Huntington Bank has since given me a two year extension on my HELOC, yet at a higher interest. If I were 120 days past due why on earth would anyone extend credit to me? Internally, Huntington Bank knows my credit report is incorrect but any other potential lenders looking at my credit report do not know the facts.

Complaint: I has submitted a complaint abo ut XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) a few weeks ag o Complaint # XXXX . I faxed in a request to change the bank account my contribution for my IRA was withdrawn from. Only the account was changing, the amount was to stay the same. The update form was faxed at the end of XX/XX/XXXX and would take effect for the contribution on XX/XX/XXXX . However XXXX attempted to withdraw the money from the wrong account. When I asked why this happened, they claimed it was because they were not sure the amount and defaulted to the account that was previously set up. After this I called my Investment Rep and he sent me the same form I had already sent in, which I returned and XXXX was able to correct their mistake. I received a letter from Huntington Compliance , where they claim I had requested the withdraw to start with XX/XX/XXXX , which is incorrect. XXXX made a mistake and while this was eventually corrected, mostly with my pointing out all their errors, this is not acceptable for a large company to make mistakes like this.

Debt is not yours
Complaint: Huntington National Bank w ent after me when my ex wife filed bankruptcy. The {$50000.00} Home equity line of credit was awarded to my ex in our divorce decree dated in XXXX , XXXX in XXXX , OH. After she filed for bankruptcy they sent certified mail to my parents address, to my Father who has XXXX XXXX XXXX . I did not sign, or live there! Needless to say, he signed for the mail because he did n't know what he was doing. I did n't know that he had signed, or received these documents until after they already went to XXXX County Court an d decided to garnish my wages in XXXX . I tried to contact the Attorney 's and Huntington Bank to straighten this out, but was told that they could n't help me. I have been getting garnished for a debt that was never mine to begin with, that should have been taken care of by my ex wife. Which was probably included in her bankruptcy.

Reporting company used your report improperly
Complaint: O n XX/XX/XXXX , I began an application for an auto loan with XXXX XXXX XXXX . I had previously shopped around for good rates and the best offers from banks and credit unions because I only wanted my credit ran the one t ime for the loan. I received my Pre approval letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX with a loan on XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX . I began my car search and came into multiple dealerships with my preapproval letter. Within these visits, I turned down vehicles because they did not fit into my loan amount. I was offered numerous times to run my credit again to see if I could get a higher loan. I then refused, stating that I did not want my credit ran again because it will knock my credit and I want to do my loan through XXXX and XXXX only. After hearing running my credit would be my only option, I left the dealership because once again, I did not want my credit ran again. The said dealership is XXXX XXXX in XXXX , MI and I 'm sure they can attest to how persistent I was on to not run my credit. After I turned down that offer I went to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX MI. I found a vehicle I loved, had great service, and all in all a good car buying experience. When I was at the dealership I purchased my vehicle through XXXX at the price of {$23000.00}. After I finished speaking to my salesman, he referred me to the finance department to finish paperwork. While I was in there I provided my preapproval letter through Honor. At the time I had mentioned once again that it was the only bank I wanted to go through. He began asking questions that sounded much like a credit application to me, so once again I stopped him and confirmed to that I had already had my credit ran and Honor was the only bank I was going through. He reassured me it was just questions that had to be asked again to make sure all the information between XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX matched. He even called XXXX on speaker in the room so we could confirm the paperwork went through and that my interest rate was correct. We proceeded to finish the paperwork. At both dealerships I did have someone with me and can witness my reoccurring statement of not having my credit ran. A few days later, I began receiving emails that my credit had a few hard inquires. I looked them up and saw that three had been added regarding loans I had not applied for nor did I give permission for my credit to be ran to apply for them . One of the creditors that showed up was from XXXX XXXX XXXX , who had assured me they were not running my credit again. No one aside from XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX had my information to run my credit so I know that the two other Inquiries m ade on XX/XX/XXXX , came from XX/XX/XXXX . Once I saw these inquiries, I immediately contacted XXXX and discussed with them how my credit was ran without my permission. They were very helpful and immediately started working towards resolving this issue because they know that I only applied through them as well. I also called XXXX & XXXX finance department and left a voicemail for the man that finished my paperwork. About a week went by and I received no correspondence from them. I then decided to go a step further and then emailed the president of XXXX XXXX XXXX . A day later received an email, not from the president, but just another employee I imagine. I asked if they could please have my credit inquires from them disputed because I did not give them permission. I received no response. I emailed them back and asked them to respond or I would have to dispute the charges against them on my own. Although I did get a response shortly after, it was just a denial that they had ran my credit without my permission and that they have the right to do so. I corrected them, saying I understood that they could check my credit with XXXX but not run it through other banks and apply for loans I did not need without my permission. I have n't received word back yet. A few days later I received mail from Huntington Bank saying I had been denied a loan for the amount of the vehicle I purchased from XXXX & XXXX . I have not ever applied for a loan from Huntington, and it was made the same day the XXXX XXXX XXXX and one oth er loan had been put on my credit report ( 3 total, on XX/XX/XXXX ) I a m still expecting to receive a denial letter from the third bank I never applied for as well. I have repeatedly asked XXXX & XXXX to try to dispute those three inquiries made o n XX/XX/XXXX , b ut I 'm afraid it is being pushed aside and not being taken care of. They have now repeatedly stated that they only ran it through one bureau and I have told them repeatedly that that was not my problem, and the problem is that they had applied for loans in my name that I did not give my permission to. Even though they have been fraudulent and are still denying running my credit, I still only ask that the inquires be removed as that was my only concern all along. I 've called Huntington and they could n't help because it happened at the dealership, and I have n't contacted XXXX XXXX because of lack of contact information.

Account information incorrect
Complaint: On X/X/2017 I received a letter from The Huntington National Bank.
This letter requested that I send them {$3300.00} within 30 days in order to implement a loan.
I have never applied for a loan with this company. I have never heard of this company.
The reasons stated for requesting the {$3300.00}. was allegedly because my credit report that Huntington National Bank requested from XXXX was so negative.
I have checked with XXXX and our history has always been clear of all problems Huntington National Bank wrote that the following reasons attributed to their request for money from us : A : " Low credit score of XXXX '' Nonsense ... .We have an Excellent credit score of XXXX B : " The number of our accounts with delinquency is to high '' Nonsense ... ..We have an impeccable history ... .no delinquencies ... ever ...

C : " To few accounts currently paid as agreed '' Nonsense ... ..Our credit reports, dating back as far as you want to look, including their alleged source, XXXX , show all accounts have always been paid as agreed D : " Length of time loans have been established '' Nonsense ... ..We only have XXXX loans plus credit cards that are paid in full every month.

I talked to Huntington National Bank this morning and expressed my concern that : # 1, I did n't request a loan with them ... .ever ...
# 2- the information contained in their letter to me regarding our credit is highly inaccurate.
I made it clear that my credit reports had better not reflect anything due to Huntington National Bank invalid and inaccurate statements.
My wife and I take great pride in maintaining our credit ratings and are offended by the misuse by Huntington National Bank of our credit history I 'm concerned that it might be possible for a bank to prey on the elderly and with intimidation, force loans that were never applied for.

My phone discussion with bank personnel did nothing to assure me they were the least bit concerned with what I thought.

Billing problem
Complaint: Huntington National Bank solicted me for an SBA loan for a work vehicle. The process started out simple, but was long and bumpy because Huntington kept changing the rules in the middle of the game.
The loan was eventually signed on XX/XX/XXXX for XXXX .
Payments for the loan were sent on time, from my current business bank account at the XXXX XXXX to Huntington bank. While Huntington took abnormally long times to process the loan on their end ( 11 days in most cases ), they did process the payments for the first 8 months.
On the 9th month, Huntington returned the payment to my bank, stating only that they could not find the account, and subsequently REFUSED to communicate with my business bank to rectify the situation.
On the 10th month, a payment was made via a paper check sent certified mail to Huntington Bank. They returned the payment via regular US mail.
For the 13 months between the 10th payment and the current time, payments have been made, however Huntington has made it extremely difficult. The bank has used up so much of my time that my business of 20 years has plummeted and I have been diagnosed with health problems. Huntington has given various bizare excuses ranging from " Human error and that 's all you need to know '', to loss of original documents, loss of business account number, and various other excuses. They have now taken me to court citing " breach of contract '' and are demanding I pay the 4 % loan off in full. I have spent hundreds of hours attempting to obtain alternate financing and have failed. This leaves me no choice but to go to court. But, because I am a business, I am required to hire an attorney. Like most small businesses ( hence the SBA loan the bank solicted me for ) I can not afford to pay an attorney, especially to fight a bank who I have been told by every attorney I tried to get help from " always wins ''. So Huntington has effectively backed me in a corner where I can not even represent myself in court, where they have not even provided a lick of proof as to their allegations, and all because Huntington Bank made mistakes that they refuse to own up to.
I have filed 2 complaints with the OCC. These complaints go to a woman named XXXX XXXX , who is an employee of Huntington Bank. XXXX XXXX then files a completely false response to the complaint, and it is whisked under the rug. There is no accountability or check and balance here.
My business has been profitable for 20 years until doing business with Huntington bank. I have almost 5000 customers who love us and 3 employees who love and depend upon their jobs. And we will be destoryed by this predatory bank ( huntington ). Had Huntington bank not solicited me in the first place, I would never have obtained an SBA loan through them. I have event spoken with the assistant director of SBA in Michigan and they have assured me that the SBA itself can not help ; the SBA protects the lender, not the customer. I have contacted my state representatives, who I am sure are busy with many issues. They encouraged me to submit a complaint here, to the CFPB. I assure you, you are my last hope. And equally, I assure you if this complaint is given to Huntington bank, they will only lie. They have clearly done something very wrong and do not want to be caught.
I will provide documents upon request.

Complaint: On or about XX/XX/XXXXvia email I was offered a 3.2 % 7/1ARM on a 30 year XXXX loan, not believing it I asked for email verification that that was the correct rate, XXXX XXXX of Huntington bank assured me it was. At that point I ok 'd her to pull my credit report and move forward with the loan. After she told me that actually she had made a mistake and the rate was really 3.9 %. She then promised to remove the credit pull from my record ( all in email ). Having harmed my credit the next place I had pull my credit gave me a less desirable mortgage where her intentional and willfull bait and switch could and did do serious damage to my financial future. I also have no evidence that this is n't a common occurrence at Huntington or with this terrible loan officer in particular and would like it further investigated.

Complaint: Began my process of buying a home with a team leader, whom stated he was too busy to meet in person regarding my home buying process. After finding my home, the process required me submitting personal pap erwork three plus times to get it correct. It involved me signing documents that I was then told were incorrect, and had resubmitted that same day requiring me to leave work on two separate occasions. Could not get ahold of mortgage team leader by telephone and was only able to communicate by email with several days delay. Unprofessional communication by text message during process of securing home loan as well as emails using the phrase " stand buy ''. Rushing to submit documentation with less than one week till closing on a home. When submitting complaint on XXXX XXXX to corporate company then falsely closed the complaint without reaching out to me before doing so. When I called on Tuesday the XXXX of XXXX , I was told the complaint would be reopened and the individuals supervisor would get back to me by close of business. After waiting for a call and not r ecieving one, I then called to follow up to the complaint and speak with a supervisor that told me if my complaint did not seem urgent for corporate to follow up too they would not. It is apparent my time, or money is important to Huntington Bank.

Deposits and withdrawals
Complaint: My complaint is regarding an excessive deposit hold time policy on a deposit with Huntington Bank. On XX/XX/XXXX I did a mobile deposit for a check from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for {$8800.00} into my checking account. This is an in state check from a bank for under {$10000.00}. Now I have heard of a 1-3 day deposit hold in cases of personal checks, out of state checks etc. Huntington has incredibly put a hold on these funds until XX/XX/XXXX. So that is 10 calendar days and with the XXXX XXXX holiday that would be a 6 business day hold. This is entirely unacceptable. I called and asked for a supervisor, they stated that it was " in process '' and the hold was put on due to an " unverifiable source ''. The source is a credit union. Furthermore I had {$11000.00} in my savings account and still this long of a hold. I called my local branch and spoke with the acting manager who was helpful, followed up but still could do nothing. Today, XX/XX/XXXX, I called XXXX XXXX XXXX, spoke with the bank manager and learned that their check for the {$8800.00} cleared last night XX/XX/XXXX. In this day and age of electronic ACH clearing and the digital treatment of checks that seems like an appropriate clearing time and a possible 1-2 day deposit hold time. Again, how can Huntington employ a practice of the excessive type of hold time described above? I was fortunate that I could move funds from my savings to pay the obligations I had sought the consolidation loan for in the time frame I had committed to. The funds were to pay down high interest credit cards. My loss is inconvenience and marginal savings account interest. But what if I could n't " float '' my own account for nearly 2 weeks while HNB " holds '' my funds? The damages could include : -Personal reputational risk ( a returned check to a 3rd parties ) -Additional interest accrued on accounts to be paid by the excessive hold time -Fees, possible NSF fees, return item fees from the very bank " holding the check '' or 3rd party fees for un honored items sent with the expectation of a 1-2 day " hold ' time -Damage to credit score/rating. This type of " deposit hold '' over reach is both inappropriate and unacceptable in this day and age of electronic banking. The practice needs to be investigated and changed. I will conclude that I have never had an issue with HNB and like their banking, as a loyal customer, who has multiple accounts this situation has damaged my perspective on their bank and service levels.
