Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Reporting company used your report improperly
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I learned that Equifax allowed my personal data to be shared outside of their organization with nefarious hackers. Then they attempted as their resolution to the problem to provide me with a service that they supposedly sell to monitor my credit for only a year ..after that of course they 're going to charge me for it. The fact that their security was so lacks that they allowed my sensitive pii to be shared outside their organization was bad enough but the fact that their resolution to the problem is a money-making scheme is infuriating.

Complaint: Equifax is randomly generating the answer to if I 'm effected by the latest hack of 143 million Americans personal identifiable information. This is misuse of my credit report. They have let 143 Million Americans personal data into the wild for all of us to be victims of identity theft. They profit from " monitoring '' this kind of fraud. It 's absolutely unbelievable. It 's the kind of conflict of interest that makes me wonder about this society. It 's fraud. It 's all a fraud. On top of this, their system to check and see if I 'm effected is randomly generated because I doubt they actually know how many credit reports were stolen. The rest of my life I will be forced to purchase from them or the other two, some kind of service to make sure i 'm not hacked. Let alone the fact that anyone could have my identity and use it outside the credit system, i.e. XXXX XXXX XXXX. I 'm suing in open court. I 'll represent myself. The government will not help me. I 'm sitting here in the aftermath of XXXX, and I 'm shaking with rage right now. It 's not like I do n't have a million things to do. I 'll just have to add this to the list. I 'm pretty much done with this society. I 'm going to do everything in my power to become a XXXX XXXX citizen. I have no want to be an American anymore. It 's a sham, all of it.

Complaint: Equifax mishandled my personal information including Name, Social Security #, Address, Birthdate, etc. resulting in a data breach in XXXX/XXXX 2017 that they confirmed I was affected by per their " Potential Impact '' site www.equifaxsecurity2017.com. They have put myself and millions of others at risk of identity theft/fraud due to negligent security protocols in handling consumer information. They are further attempting to capitalize on the situation by signing injured parties THEY are responsible for up for " trial periods '' of their ID protection services. They are simultaneously defrauding these injured parties with hidden terms of service that waive their right to sue the company in what is clearly a situation of criminal negligence/fraudulent behavior as indicated by the three Equifax executives that dumped stock immediately prior to the data breach announcement. I demand that they rectify this by making credit freezing free and refunding everyone who paid for it following this data breach. The negligent loss of personal information of nearly 200 million consumers is an unconscionable breech of ethical behavior by this company and it is further unreasonable that they are not directly notifying every single person affected by this regardless of their questionable " judgment '' of who to contact.

Complaint: Equifax mishandled my information which has led to a breach that puts myself and millions of others at potential risk. I am extremely disappointed with how Equifax has handled informing those affected by this breach. Very little was done to notify the public for nearly a month after the breach was detected. I received no email, letter, or phone call and instead had to discover it via the news. Going forward Equifax should be required to monitor every account and notify victims if any fraud occurs. Credit fraud protection should be mandatory for every account, not an option for us to have deal with. This should be rectified firstly by making credit freezing free and refunding everyone who paid for it following this data breach. Requiring a police report is absurd when they clearly know if you were affected.

Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX- XX/XX/XXXX of 2017, Equifax, one of the three major credit reporting and monitoring agencies, had sensitive data compromised in a data breach that likely revealed information such as : Social Security Number, Drivers License Information, Credit Card Information, and Contact Information to criminal perpetrators of the breach. Equifax provided a website for users to enter a portion of their social security number to determine whether or not they may be impacted. After entering my information on XXXX XXXX, 2017, Equifax 's website alerted me that I was likely affected by this incident. I have added a temporary Credit Fraud Alert through a competing credit reporting agency, XXXX, in the event that my personal information is being misused to open lines of credit, etc. without my consent. I am filing a complaint as this breach of security and my personal information may be highly detrimental to my future plans of taking out student loans to return to school for a change in career, and am seeking means of restitution.

Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Difficulty submitting a dispute or getting information about a dispute over the phone
Complaint: I have confirmed I am part of the Equifax breach. I called the number they show as contact to find out more information on the breach. I was not given any information at all other than someone reading the exact wording that is already on the website. They can not tell me specific information about what information was breached form just myself. If it was credit card, or banking accounts, if it was drivers license or any specific information. If my bank acct number was breached, I need to know so I can open up an new account. If my credit cards were breached, I need to know so I can open up new accounts. And the same for any other information. This will cost me and businesses thousands of dollars to make these changes. But Equifax will not tell me. Just states they apologize for the inconvenience. Then I would have to PAY to freeze my accounts. Equifax should PAY to freeze all XXXX credit bureau accounts for me. I find it fascinating that they are allowed to do this. And that they are allowed to post on their website to call a number for more info only to be told the exact wording on the website and then " refer to the website for more info ''. So it is just a circle on non information. This needs to be corrected so we can KNOW SPECIFICS of what information was breached for each individual and Equifax should pay for the remidiation to correct such as free credit freezes and unfreezes for life.

Complaint: From equifaxsecurity2017.com, " I. What Happened On XX/XX/2017, Equifax discovered that criminals exploited a U.S. website application vulnerability to gain access to certain files. Upon discovery, we acted immediately to stop the intrusion. The company promptly engaged a leading, independent cybersecurity firm which has been conducting a comprehensive forensic review to determine the scope of the intrusion, including the specific data impacted. Equifax also reported the criminal access to law enforcement and continues to work with authorities. Based on the companys investigation, the unauthorized access occurred from XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/2017. II. What Information Was Involved Most of the consumer information accessed includes names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and in some instances, drivers license numbers. In addition, credit card numbers for approximately 209,000 consumers and certain dispute documents, which included personal identifying information, for approximately 182,000 consumers were accessed. In addition to this site, Equifax will send direct mail notices to consumers whose credit card numbers or dispute documents with personal identifying information were impacted. We have found no evidence of unauthorized access to Equifaxs core consumer or commercial credit reporting databases. '' Since then, I have used the site to verify that Equifax believes I was affected, and begun enrollment in TrustedID Premier. I have also filed a 90 day fraud alert with XXXX. I will continue to monitor my credit using XXXX through XXXX.

Reporting company used your report improperly
Complaint: There was a breach of security at Equifax with my personal information made vulnerable along with 140 million other individuals, and per their report on their website, my information is at risk. This places me under duress that my information can be stolen and my identity stolen, which can lead to significant impact on my life and my family 's lives in the future if it is stolen. This company did not have proper protection in place as evidenced by the significant amount of impacted individuals. I have already placed a 90 day free fraud alert on my file. I also have obtained my free annual credit report from XXXX and XXXX. I have been unable to obtain my credit report from XXXX for some unspecified reason per the website. I have sent a written request for my credit report from them today XXXX. Equifax has not contacted me that my information is at risk, I had to find out on my own and check their website to discover this. I believe that one year of credit monitoring and fraud protection is not sufficient protection for the amount of people affected by this attack, nor is the punishment of the company reflective of the significance of this attack. In addition, signing up for their protection for one year voids our ability to pursue legal recourse in the future if our information is used past the year of protection.

Problem with fraud alerts or security freezes

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Complaint: According to Equifax, my information " may have been '' compromised by their breach. Because of this, I felt I had no alternative but to place a credit freeze with all three bureaus. Each bureau charged {$10.00} to place a credit freeze ( including Equifax ) AND they will also charge a fee when you request to unfreeze it in order to give potential creditors and/or employers access. I contacted Equifax and asked that they refund the {$30.00} because they are responsible for the threat I now face. They informed me that they have no intention of refunding any credit freeze fees, but they are offering credit monitoring for one year. Their nonchalant response with practically no offer of assistance or protection is NOT acceptable.

Complaint: I learned about the Equifax security breach on XXXX XXXX 2017 and the details of the scandal imply that my personal information was breached and is now publicly available. I tried using Equifax 's online tool on XXXX XXXX 2017 to see if I was impacted by the breach, and they claimed I was so I signed up for one of their services. However, now there is news surfacing that I am now newly aware of that they are randomly generating answers for people and not giving actual results.
