Problem with customer service
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX and XXXX XXXX applied for a Discover Student Loan for the amount of {$36000.00} for tuition for the XXXX XXXX XXXX at XXXX. The amount was to be used to pay tuition and costs for the XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXXschool year, in the amount of {$18000.00} per semester at the interest rate of 7.99 %.
XXXX is the student, and XXXX is the parent-cosigner for the loan.
At the time of the first disbursement of the loan, the XXXX XXXX XXXX Office of Financial Aid informed XXXX XXXX that the loan was only certified for {$18000.00} for the year, instead of the originally approved {$36000.00}. XXXX XXXX contacted Discover and informed them about the problem.
Discover asked to have the University re-certify the loan in the amount of {$36000.00}.
XXXX XXXX contacted the University 's Office of Financial Aid to inform them of the problem. On XX/XX/2018, the University 's Senior Financial Aid Administrator, XXXX XXXX XXXX, sent XXXX XXXX an email, confirming that the University had sent the required notification, certifying the original {$36000.00} amount of the loan request, and verifying that the above amount needed to be split between the fall and spring semesters.

Immediately thereafter, XXXX XXXX contacted Discover, and they verified over the phone that they received the email, and that the problem was resolved.
On or around XX/XX/2018, XXXX XXXX contacted Discover to verify that the loan would disburse as previously agreed. Discover reported that there was no disbursement pending, and that the loan closed out at the amount of {$18000.00}, and was not available for the 2nd semester of school tuition.
Discover suggested that my XXXX and XXXX XXXX apply for a new loan, which was done The new loan for the second semester came back at the interest rate of 9.240 %, instead of the original 7.99 % interest rate.
Discover has made the error with the disbursement. The University did correct Discover 's mistake, and did certify the correct amount for the loan, and that it was to disburse for 2 semesters. I ask that Discover be held to its originally agreed interest rate of 7.99 %, and should not be allowed to profit for the mistake it made.

Complaint: I met a woman by the name of XXXX XXXX. She told me she lived in Texas. She made an agreement with me that If I purchased for her XXXX gift cards for her disabled beneficiaries, she would pay off the balance of the XXXX cards as well as my credit card debt I had with discover. She made three payments on my discover account using a XXXX bank account and a XXXX bank account. All three payments were ACCEPTED AND POSTED to my account therefore leaving me under the impression that this was a legitimate agreement and not any sort of scam or fraudulent activity. I also contacted discover and spoke with a representative and he informed me that the first payment she made of XXXX was accepted. I come to find I wake up one morning to see all three payments she made on my account were returned as well as returned check charges because the accounts were closed in which she used to make these payments with. I informed XXXX XXXX of the situation and she agreed she would fly down to XXXX and meet with me to provide me with the money in cash to compensate for the situation and the payments not being accepted by her banks. On the day of, she blocked me and I have no way of communicating with her. Her phone number is : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I also have photos of her that she provided me with that are attached. Also, I contacted XXXX support and they informed me that these XXXX cards purchases are fraudulent and I should not be held responsible because they were used for fraudulent purposes. However, discover is not cooperating.The black woman in the photos is XXXX XXXX.

Complaint: From XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX, my wallet and phone were stolen from my possession. They perpetrator who spent money on my account nearly 800 dollars and they found me responsible for it because the police department failed to give me a copy of the police report I made XX/XX/XXXX/XX/XX/XXXX and also said another reason was they seen a transaction before on my account which was named XXXX but anyways there where I found the suspect who stole my wallet and phone. There is so much stuff you can use or buy that will come up as a XXXX transaction that they shouldn't pin that on me. The third reason they said I would have to pay them back is because they called the phone to verify the transaction that took place but keep in mind that XXXX don't need to be unlocked to be answered and they also didn't asked for verification of my identity at all. I was already on my way up to XXXX for vacation with my friends and I didn't try to call from a different phone because I thought nothing of the suspect being XXXX enough to use my card and I didn't want to call from another phone to make it seem like I'm the suspect. so I went ahead and tracked the XXXX that got stolen from me and I seen they went all the way from where I live to XXXX, FL so I cancelled my trip to make my way out to getting my stuff back. so when I figured out how much they have spent on my account I called discover from the broken phone I retrieved after hunting this person down and explained only parts of the story about the fraud done so they can hurry and get this fraud off my card and stop my card from working anymore to the DISCOVER Card REPRESENTATIVE, she said everything would be fine and that we hold our customers 0 % responsible for fraud charges which is also on their website. so I'm waiting for a month then I see the charges placed back on my account because the decision is still going so every billing cycle I got ta pay a minimum amount of money I never used from them in the first place. Then when it reached end of XXXX I finally received a call from a case manager saying unfortunately we can't honor the fraud done because the police station failed to give me a copy of a police report and that they seen a XXXX charge before so I told the guy the full story and he said we will have it under review again for me then two more months past and I get a call from them saying " we still can't honor the 100 % fraud protection '' that they promote. So, I asked can I just fax you guys a witness letter saying what went on during the time and he said that I can try but basically said it won't work. So DISCOVER has me stuck paying them money I don't have nor spent in the first place

Complaint: In XXXX of this year I purchased a mattress and adjustable base from XXXX. After several requests for a delivery date XXXX XXXX XXXX ignored my requests so I cancelled the order.None the less the XXXX deleivered the items several days after my cancellation. My son signed for the order, so I immediaetly emailed XXXX XXXX to come and get the items as the order was cancelled. I put the tiems in storage, never opened never touched. Of course my Discover card was charged for the items which I disputed. Long story short I got a refund from U.S.Mattress for the full amount however Discover Card people have not adjusted my account and it shows over {$2000.00} owing which is the items for XXXX. I have been trying to get this nightmare reconciled but the accounting people at XXXX must have been asleep during their classes in XXXX XXXX becasue they refuse to adjust the amount owed. I have sent letters to the corporate offices of XXXX and numerous emails to thier credit card / financial departments but they are incapable of reconciling this matter. I need your help to interced for me.

Complaint: I have contacted XXXX 4 different times regarding inaccuracy information on my credit report. There are numerous companies reporting inaccurate information to XXXX. Specifically, the inaccurate date of " last payment made. '' I contacted XXXX on XX/XX/2018, by filing a dispute online ( File # XXXX ) and by phone on XX/XX/2018. I again contacted XXXX by filing another dispute on XX/XX/2018 ( File # XXXX ), and sending a certified letter on the same day. All of the results have been the same. They completely ignored my request and corrected the situation by changing the date updated on my credit report for each of the companies I requested the information be corrected. I believe my request is a simple one. I can not believe the total disregard to my requests. The companies reporting this inaccurate information have the burden of proving what they are reporting which they did not do. All that I'm requesting is correct information on my credit report which I am working on improving.

Complaint: Issue : DISCOVER CARD refuses to resolve a dispute for falsely advertised product. DISCOVER favors the merchant.
- I purchased a reproduction of oil painting from XXXX - Painting was sent damaged due to improper painting, and it was not as advertised - I tried to work the issue with the seller - Seller tried to sell me another wrong picture (! ) - Seller would not issue a return label citing their own return policy where the buyer has to pay for returns. This policy does not states this for non conforming products, or products damaged in transport, or different from what was advertised.
- I tried to work out a solution with the seller on the return ( it costs almost as much as the picture itself for shipping back due to no fault of mine ) ; - I have opened a dispute with DISCOVER documenting all these issues ; - 30 days later DISCOVER closed the case in favor of the merchant as a " legitimate transaction '', with no reasonable explanation of why ; - Original wrong painting was never replaced ; - There was no refund attempted ; - Reopened the case with DISCOVER at my request, after I questioned their decision ; - I was told verbally that the resolution may be the same, again in favor of the merchant ; All the documents are already uploaded on the DISCOVERY web site for disputes. Complaint: I had looked into applying for a consolidation loan from several other lenders, but always stopped short of filling out an application. I would always consult with the lenders first and ask if they looked at individual income or household income when determining my qualifications for the consolidation loan. Of the half a dozen or so other lenders I have previously spoken with they were all very clear that their income qualifications were based around individual income and not household income. After speaking with this company in question, however, I was told that they look at household income and not just individual income. So I went through the lengthy application process only to be denied after several weeks of review. When I asked for clarification, they said that I was denied based on my income. The person that I spoke to this time around apologized and stated clearly that they do not factor in household income, but they only look at individual income.
