Complaint: I received an pre-authorization offer for a personal loan with Discover Personal Loans through XXXX mail with a potential interest rate as low as 6.99 %, as I am a current Discover Card account holder in excellent standing and with excellent credit.
After going through process, I was quoted an interest rate of 16.99 % - XXXX more points than the pre-authorization.
I only had XXXX hard inquiries on my credit, before Discover. Being a Discover Card holder, I am not sure why a hard inquiry was needed, when a soft inquiry would have been sufficient. Now I have XXXX hard inquires on my credit report.
Discover 's hard inquiry, alone, dropped my FICO score by XXXX points. I had a FICO score of XXXX before Discover did an inquiry. I am asking that the hard inquiry be removed from my credit reports. Had I known that my credit score of XXXX received an interest rate of 16.99 %, I would have never applied for the personal loan to consolidate my other credit cards ( with interest rates of 12.99 % and 10.99 % ). Nor should Discover have needed to pull my credit, seeing as I am a current customer in good standing.
I have asked Discover to remove the hard inquiry, but am not making progress with Discover.

Complaint: I am XXXX, draw Soc. Sec. and live XXXX sometimes. I have a credit card account with Discover ending in XXXX. I was having problems paying the account and I entered into a hardship program with Discover in XX/XX/XXXX. They took my XXXX information and the account number. They read me a statement that I agreed to pay {$150.00} a month from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, account ending in XXXX They have removed payments of {$150.00} a month from that account from XX/XX/XXXX until XX/XX/XXXX. I pick up my mail from my daughter 's. I picked up my mail on XX/XX/XXXX. There was a XXXX and XXXX Discover statement listing nonpayment, late fees, etc. I called Discover and the lady explained that they sent in request for payment in XXXX to my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, account ending in XXXX. I explained that the account number is XXXX. Where did they get this XXXX number? I had an old XXXX account ending in XXXX but it has been closed for over a year. The woman could not explain where the XXXX number came from ; she could not check to see who had been in my account and made changes ; she could not reinstate my old payment plan I agreed to in XX/XX/XXXX. Discover made unauthorized changes to my account and they are telling me it is my fault. I had to pay all late fees, over the limit fees, etc. plus an increased monthly payment. I did not contact Discover and change the agreement I agreed to in XX/XX/XXXX. I did not authorize a change in account or account numbers from the ones I agreed to in XX/XX/XXXX. Discover supervisor XXXX XXXX said she would look into it and I should call back in two days. Somewhere, Discover went in and made unauthorized changes. What can be done to correct this and ensure it does not happen to someone else? I did n't think Discover could make changes to your account without your approval/agreement? Please help. I feel like this is unethical business practice from Discover Credit Card to defraud a customer.

Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I performed a balance transfer to Discover Card with a creditscore of approximately XXXX. XXXX months later Discover has issuedan 18.99 % interest rate. My credit score is now XXXX. I have XXXX creditcards, of which XXXX I cancelled ; A gold card XXXX with a balance of {$470.00} with unlimited purchase, a XXXX card with a balance of {$780.00}.
I have another active and initial purchase range to {$17000.00}.
Amex/Costco card with purchasing up to {$14000.00}, a balance of XXXX.
After I inquired about the high interest rate, Discover sent me anemail on XX/XX/XXXX stating it had increased my credit limit an additional {$3100.00} ; and in an initial conversation stated it would lower my futurepurchases to 16 % +. I declined! In the initial offering for a balancetransfer, it stated the interest would be XXXX to XXXX. One might expect with nearvery good to excellent credit, the lower rate would apply, and anythingwithin theupper limits might apply to anyone with alower/riskier score. After numerous conversations to ascertain whymy interest rate was so high and having a present credit score of XXXX, what was the rationale that warranted the high interest juxtapose to the10.99 %. Discover sent me another email with thesereasons ; % of balances is to credit limits is too high on revolvingaccounts ; Too many accounts with balances ; Proportion of loan balances toloan amounts is too high.Yet, Discover is willing to increase my credit limit an additional {$3100.00}. Obviously my credit score and Discover 's desire to lend me morecontradicts these assertions. After you have read this, if you need. I have the email sentadditional information is needed, please contact me. I have the emailfrom Discover regarding the credit card limit increase, etc.
