Debt was paid
Complaint: Settled debt with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. ( Discover ) for less than full amount on XXXX/XXXX/15. They took payment and told me that I would get a letter noting this after 21 business days had passed based on what some bank told them they need to do. I have called them @ XXXX a total of XXXX times requesting this letter and have been told that it was mailed but have not rec 'd it. After calling again today XXXX/XXXX/15 ( XXXX XXXX-ext XXXX ), I was told that XXXX of their attorneys has to approve the letter being sent but they would not allow me to speak with this attorney for clarification. I asked for a supervisor ( XXXX XXXX-ext XXXX ) but was told he was too busy to speak with me. I believe that I am getting the " run around '' and would like to file a complaint as this seems to be an unfair debt collection practice.

Complaint: Hello, I am using Discover credit card and I pay off my monthly due on time with full due payment as per their statement to avoid interest. I also used Discover promotions like balance transfer with 0 % rate for next 18 months with initial fee. Let us say by using that promotion, if I transfer {$3000.00} on XX/XX/XXXX and they charge me {$90.00} on the day of transfer initially and then I have to pay off that amount on or before XX/XX/XXXX
So my understanding is that from XX/XX/XXXX onwards, if I pay off my monthly purchase transaction as per monthly due, I wo n't see any interest. because my balance transfer loan is 0 % for 18 months. But every time I pay off my monthly due as per their monthly statement, they still charge me some interest. I asked them why then they mentioned, I have balance transfer loan. But that is 0 % for 18 months.
As a consume, I am not able to understand their explanation. I can provide my last 24 months statement, you can look at it and see why those interest charges applied every month. They are charging me initially 3 % of loan to provide 0 % for 18 months and then they are charging interest fee every month. But I am paying off my all monthly purchase transactions as per their statement.
Let me know if my statement make sense or not.
Thanks

Attempted to/Collected exempt funds
Complaint: Discover Card sued me in Indiana Small Claims court and entered a judgment against me that exceeds the {$6000.00} Indiana Small Claims court judgement amount.
In an attempt to collect the debt, my bank account was seized. I requested a court date, as my bank account contained both FEMA and Unemploment derived funds. The attorney for Discover Card phoned into the hearing and lied to the magistrate. The magistrate informed the Discover Card attorney that the funds were indeed exempt, and the funds were returned to me.
I have checked my county 's online database, and discovered multiple Discover Card entries on magistrate 's dockets. Is there some type of judicial abuse going on in XXXX XXXX, Indiana?
At the proceedings supplemental, I told the same magistrate that I had not received the paperwork the attorney showed me outside the courtroom. The magistrate 's response was, " I 'm not buying it ''. I told him I need to received all my court / legal / financial notices. After the magistrate announced, " adjourned '' and left the court room, the magistrate 's bailiff, ordered me to meet with the XXXX. I told the bailiff, that the magistrate just announced adjourned, meaning I was free to leave. The bailiff told me he could have me detained / arrested by guards. All this with my then terrified four year old in tow. We left the court room, not knowing if we would be detained / arrested.
How is any of this behavior legal, and where can I file a complaint. I also plan on contacting the FBI.
Thank you.

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: I have been in contact with my private student loan lender Discover Student Loans several times since XXXX 2014 to try and make my monthly payment more feasible so I can afford to live. I have been told to either use forbearance or default my loans and that they can not help me. They want me to pay nearly {$700.00} a month, while trying to live and pay other bills. I also have federal loans that are in non repayment right now until I can get something resolved with Discover and be able to afford to repay my loans. I am willing to work overtime to pay Discover a settled amount every month so everyone is happy they are getting money. But, Discover will not work with me to make it to where I can live and afford my bills.

Received bad information about my loan
Complaint: Hello, I took out a student loan with XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX to take marketing courses at University XXXX. The courses were demeed to prepare one for a marketing manager role which was untrue. I digress, about 2 years ago XXXX XXXX sold my loan to Discover. Discover has never been able to show me my full repayment history. It 's not available on my online account. I have called customer service many times to find out how much I have paid etc. They will not provide me with anything. The history in my account only shows the payment for the last month and sporadic untrue payments ... like a few payments in XX/XX/XXXX. Also, I have moved abroad and I can only pay from a XXXX bank account. I have direct debit set up and yet every month I get emails from Discover saying that i need to log in to my account to make a payment. I just received XXXX now on XX/XX/XXXX and my account is up to date! No payment is due until XXXX XXXX! So despite not having been a XXXX citizen, I was able to take out student loans for an expensive and inappropriate course, and 14 years later I 'm still paying and ca n't get an accurate history of what I have paid.

Complaint: My Discover Card is charging me {$41.00} for a magazine subscription I never ordered. I contacted Discover and finally they claimed to have found in my favor and would take the charge off the card. Then a month later, they reversed their decision and tried to charge me again. I contacted them again and they took it off the credit card. Yesterday I got a letter saying they are charging me the {$41.00} again. This is a fraudulent charge and Discover will not take it off the card.

Complaint: I recently applied for a Discover card. They advertised a 10.99-22.99 % APR. My credit rating is XXXX, I have never gone through a bankruptcy, I only own XXXX other cards, I 'm XXXX years old, own my own home and have paid my bills on time for the past 40 years. I have only {$6000.00} worth of debt ( half car loan and half credit card ), half of which I am transferring to the new card. I 've been employed with the same employer for five years, and if anyone expected to receive a favorable APR, it was me. So imagine my shock when I was approved for the card, which after six months at 0 % APR, shoots up to 20.99 %. I really think this is deceptive advertising. If I can not receive a better rate than XXXX, I ca n't imagine there is anyone getting close to a 10.99 % rate. When I complained to the customer service person, she said I should call back in 6 months to see what they could do. I 'm not holding my breath about that, I will probably never use the card unless I can pay the balance each month.

Complaint: I was not able to make last month 's payment to Discover Card, because I needed to pay my Bankruptcy Attorney. On XXXX XXXX I started to get the collection calls. My bankruptcy attorney advised me not to answer the calls until I could provide them with my case number. My phone number is confirmed in their system, as I have made many calls to them from this same number in the past. Per FDCPA, collection call attempts are limited to XXXX times per week on a verified number. On Thursday XXXX XXXX, I received XXXX call attempts. On Friday XXXX XXXX I received XXXX call attempts. On Saturday XXXX XXXX I received XXXX call attempts. This totaled XXXX call attempts for last week. On Monday the calls continued. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, I received XXXX call attempts per day - totaling XXXX attempts and the week was n't even over. Additionally, I received XXXX messages, and neither of them included a Mini-Miranda as required by FDCPA. The XXXX message was received on Monday XX/XX/XXXX XXXX. According to FDCPA, the collector must allow XXXX hours before re-attempting after leaving a message on a verified machine. My full name is provided on my answering machine, thus it was a verified machine. The XXXX message was received on Tuesday XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX. My Chapter XXXX bankruptcy case was officially filed on Wednesday, XX/XX/XXXX. I answered the XXXX attempt from Discover Card that day at XXXX, and advised the representative that my call was being recorded as well. She advised that Discover Card does not " give me permission '' to record the call. I ignored her. She then proceeded to discuss my account details without proper verification, and she did not recite the Mini-Miranda either. I stopped her and advised I had filed bankruptcy. She acted as though she did not believe me. I provided my attorney 's name, attorney 's number, chapter XXXX, and case number. She then continued to try to collect by stating that I 've had an excellent payment history in the past, and that I would have difficulty getting a discharge because my last purchases were as recent as XXXX. I advised her that she would need to speak with my attorney in regards to the matter. She persisted, and tried to convince me that I would have a difficult time filing. I again advised her to contact my attorney. The call was then terminated. Later that evening at XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX I received a collections email from Discover Card indicating my total balance, my past due amount, and the Mini-Miranda was finally provided. Regardless, I had provided my bankruptcy information XXXX hours prior to this.

Complaint: In accordance with my XXXX Statement ( attached ) from Discover Card, my balance showing owed was {$8000.00} due on XXXX XXXX, 2015. This balance included an interest charge of {$140.00} which was calculated from a balance of {$8100.00} as shown on page XXXX of the statement. The previous balance showed as {$8000.00}. So the fact that the interest is based off of an amount greater than even the previous balance tells me that they have calculated the interest through the due date. On XXXX XXXX, 2015 I paid the balance in full of {$8000.00} and closed my account.
I was quite surprised to receive an XXXX Statement ( attached ) showing a balance owed of {$43.00}, which apparently was an interest charge calculated from a balance of {$2100.00} as shown on page XXXX of the statement. I immediately contacted Discover Card to ask them to remove this charge as my account was paid in full and should show a XXXX balance and I was told that interest on cash advance balances was charged different than interest on purchases and that was the reason for the additional charge. I do n't understand what they are saying and I have no idea where this {$2100.00} amount came from that they based the charge off from.
I received a written message ( attached ) from a manager, which basically stated that even though I paid the balance in full, there was still interest accruing somewhere, somehow. Apparently a calculation the general consumer can not understand, as it makes NO sense to me. I have paid off many credit cards in the past several years and I have NEVER seen this practice, and feel that Discover Card is taking advantage of the general consumer.
I would never recommend anyone sign up for a Discover Card!
