Complaint: My DISCOVER credit card account was closed by the company on XXXX XXXX without given any reason. I have remained good credit score and never had any late payment since I got the card on XXXX.
DISCOVER has promoted its credit card by promising high cash back on purchasing, however they never give any itemized summery on the cash back credit along with every purchase, so it is extremely difficult to keep track of those credits. There were several times when I make purchase using the affiliate link on DISCOVER website but only end up receive XXXX cash back on the statement ( since they do n't provide any record for those purchase and cash back credit, I have no proof to show ). And now that my account was closed, the cash back credit I received earlier was all gone.

Complaint: I paid to get a XXXX put in my truck on XXXX XXXX, 2015 by XXXX XXXX in XXXX, Mo. Immediately after I called XXXX to let him know the XXXX did n't work. I brought it back and he said it was n't his problem it was the truck. We just bought the truck so I called the dealer, XXXX, they looked at it and said that it was a faulty XXXX that XXXX installed. My husband called XXXX at XXXX and he said he did n't want to talk to us again nor see the truck again. We filed a dispute with Discover credit card company, in XXXX. Then we took our vehicle to the dealer, XXXX, to have them replace the XXXX so we would have a XXXX that worked. We sent the receipt to Discover along with a letter from the service manager stating the XXXX was the problem. XXXX at XXXX XXXX claimed he did everything right and that he tried contacting us on numerous occasions, which he did AFTER we paid to have the truck repaired. Then Discover found in XXXX XXXX 's favor even after we showed proof that we had to pay someone else to fix what XXXX would not. We are extremely frustrated with the process that was taken and feel that we have been wronged by Discover as well as XXXX XXXX. All we want is our refund for what we paid for the XXXX and our down time for the truck being out of service. We were without the use of our vehicle for several days due to the mishandling and unwillingness to fix the problem the merchant created. I have filed numerous letters with Discover and they say that the issue is resolved. I am out the money I paid XXXX as well as what we paid to the XXXX dealer to fix our truck. Not to mention the vehicle being down and unable to be used do to this problem.

Complaint: I opened my Discover account under a promotion they were offering to receive {$300.00} cashback for signing up with them before XXXX XXXX, 2015. I opened my account on XXXX XXXX, 2015 and deposited {$250.00} at that time. The terms of the offer were as follows : Open to current Discover credit cardmembers or deposit customers, excluding current or previous XXXX XXXX customers. Account is subject to approval. To receive {$300.00} bonus : 1 ) account must be opened between XX/XX/2015-XX/XX/2015 using offer code BonusXXXX ; and 2 ) at least two Direct Deposits of {$250.00} or more must be received within 90 days of account funding. Direct Deposit transactions are limited to : payroll, Social Security, pension, and government benefits. Bonus will be issued as a credit to your account within 30 days of completing all requirements. Account must be open when bonus is issued. Limit XXXX per customer per account. Bonus is considered interest and will be reported in IRS Form XXXX. Offer may be modified/withdrawn without notice.
I did have a Discover Savings account, set up direct desposit in the amount of {$250.00}. The first direct desposit was processed XXXX XXXX, 2015 ; the second was processed XXXX XXXX, 2015. This was well within the 90 day requirement. It has been well over 30 days since meeting this and I have yet to receive my {$300.00} cashback bonus.

Complaint: 1. I opened my discover card 5 years ago, which was my first credit card trade in my bureau. This card was about to expire in XXXX 2015. Instead of reissuing a same number card w/ later expiration date like other issuers do, discovercard closed my old credit card account and issued a card w/ new number. And when I looked into my credit bureau information, i noticed that my credit history was shortened for nearly 48 months, which is critical since being an immigrant, I only have 5 years credit history.
2. when i logged in my discover account today, I received a mail stating that discover makes a business decision of closing my account based on my account information. I am always a normal consumer, never being past due and did n't see any legit reason of being close. I have n't felt so furious before and felt like being treated unfairly.

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: My son took out a total of {$120000.00} in student loans with Discover Financial beginning in XXXX through XXXX. I was his cosigner, since this was the only way he could be approved to borrow money to further his education. Being this was my XXXX child to attend college and we were never educated on the negative impact private student loans came with, we now owe Discover {$170000.00}. The loans came into repayment in XXXX XXXX ( with over XXXX in capitalized interest added to the principal of the loan ). The monthly payments my son is required to pay are {$1600.00}. He is unable to afford these payments since he also is paying Navient student loans and federal loans ( which are both affordable ). I am also unable to afford to pay the Discover loans because within the past few years I got divorced and now my income is not sufficient enough to afford {$1600.00} per month. We have contacted Discover time and time again begging them to renegotiate the loans and make it affordable for us to make payments. We are not deadbeats and want to make payments, however they wo n't budge or offer us any reasonable alternatives. We were advised by them that until the loan defaults 6 months they wo n't help us. I do n't understand why a company wo n't help out the people that have good intentions to pay until they have ruined your credit and harassed the XXXX out of you. If my son was able to get the dream job that his college degree is in ( XXXX ) there would be no issues. But since the XXXX XXXX XXXX has changed their hiring procedures and now they hire people off the streets instead of from a prestigious school like the one my son went to, he is suffering with mounds of student loan debt and no opportunity to work in the field of his degree. Please help us - what can we do to get Discover to work with us and reduce the principal of the loan, reduce the interest rate and renegotiate the terms to extend the life of the loan so we can begin making affordable payments. I believe they overlend to students who are desperate for a good education and then they bully you with exorbitant interest amounts added on which increases the loan making it unaffordable. They want to ruin our chances of ever being able to make affordable payments because nobody will even consolidate that amount of loans. We are in a no-win situation with them. Please help us.

Complaint: Have been trying to ask them for help with consolidating or remedying my debt with them and every time I am refused any help at all. I get very mean and loud agents who insist I pay the entire amount up front to keep from having more issues with Discover Card. Some threatening me with insulting ways of paying the debt or just being stringent on not helping find a way to get my debt settled with them. After receiving the information from Discover that I qualified for something when I called Discover they told me that information was false and I was making that up. The agents then refused to let me speak to anyone else regarding the matter and insisted I pay up from the $ XXXX owed to Discover telling me they had no more plans to help people like me who were delinquent and XXXX to pay off their debts.

Complaint: I had an online savings account with Discover Bank and logged on XXXX time in XXXX, 2015 and could not access my accounts. No one could tell me what was going on with my account. I finally had to try to call the CEOS office and got someone to tell me my account was frozen. To this day I do not know what the reason was for my account being frozen and never received any letter explaining what went on with my account. When Discover Bank froze my account, they prevented my bill payments from getting paid. Thus resulted in all kind of fees and even my credit cards being cancelled because so many payment had been bounced by Discover.

Threatened to sue on too old debt
Complaint: I. XXXX Law Firm/Attorney 's ) sent me a letter dated XX/XX/XXXXstating 1 ) they had been retained by INSERT ORIGINAL LENDER, 2 ) notice of opportunity to contact within 30 days to dispute the debt, and 3 ) a statement they are a debt collector. The letter was delivered uncertified.
II. I responded on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. In that letter, I asked XXXX XXXX XXXX FIRM/ATTORNEY 'S to validate the date. The letter stated to respond to a specific Notary Public ( who would verify and validate receipt of said validation ) within 30 days. The letter was sent by certified mail and received by XXXX XXXX XXXX ATTORNEY 'S on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX.
III. I also pulled down my credit report and saw that this debt had been charged off.
IV. I was served with a lawsuit on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX by XXXX XXXX XXXX FIRM/ATTORNEY 'S regarding this matter.
Go here and file a complaint against the law firm after you.
ISSUE : This firm stated they were retained by Small Claim XXXX, That claim is patently false, since the debt was charged off. If Insert Original Lender was still pursuing this debt, it would not be at that status, so this firm has made a false statement regarding its disposition on this matter. Further, this firm has stated they are a debt collector further down in the letter. This indicates that they obtained this debt as third party debt collector.
The statements made by XXXX XXXX XXXX in the letter are fraudulent and misleading, and intended to intimidate. Further, XXXX XXXX XXXX has extended this fraud into court.

Complaint: My husband and I applied jointly for a Discover card. When the card came it was only a card for him when I called discover to see where my card was they said that I was n't on the account. The same week my unwed daughter applied for one an was denied, they wanted her to apply jointly with someone. My son also applied, he is in debt up to his eyeballs with school loans, was approved an sent a card. I feel that my daughter and I was discriminated against because we are female. Debt was paid
Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX I completely paid off Discover Card pursuant to an agreement ( attached herein ) from XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX ( as agreed ). Approximately four years later I found out ( in XX/XX/XXXX ) that they filed a judgment against me in XX/XX/XXXX even though I have proof of payment ( see attached copies of checks ). I have been trying to get them to talk to me since XXXX, but to no avail. I have sent by certified mail letters to all of the CRA 's and they failed to remove this debt even though I sent them copies of the checks and agreement. They ( Discover ) refuse to remove the judgment from my credit report ; they can not find my file ; they can not prove I owe the debt. I sent them the agreement and copies of the checks and they have never responded or sent any documentation they have on file to show I owe this debt. Apparently this debt has changed hands several times between debt collectors and they can not show that I have not paid. They did not even have my SS # until I sent it to their representative 3 weeks ago. Still no response. I feel they have violated UDAAP and the FCRA.

Having problems with customer service
Complaint: I refinanced my student loan with XXXX on XXXX XXXX 2016. The check was sent to Discover on XXXX XXXX 2016 and cashed the following week. They have not reported to the credit agencies that the loan is closed. They also have yet to provide a closing statement and refund me approximately {$1100.00}. This also has dinged my credit score because today, due to their lack of action, I currently have XXXX student loans outstanding. Their customer service and misinformation is very stressful.
