Complaint: I have been receiving paper statements for my Discover personal loan, even though I had signed up for electronic statements when I received the loan. For over a year I had no issues, and received electronic statements and no paper statements in the mail, which is what I want. I contacted Discover right away after receiving the first mailed statement and I was assured that it was a system update error and it would not happen again. I have contacted them about this issue 4 months in a row. I have explained to them that I have had mail stolen from my mailbox and I 'm concerned about identity theft, but they will not stop the paper statements.

Complaint: Discover Student Loans reported in error to XXXX and XXXX that my account was in bankruptcy. I have never filed for bankruptcy. Due to their mistake, I am at the risk of being disqualified for home mortgage, despite my credit score that exceeds XXXX. When I called Discover Student Loans about this, and requested that they write a letter clearly stating their credit reporting error, which my mortgage lender requested to process my pre-approval, I was told that they do n't have a form letter approved by their legal department to write such a letter. They instead sent a letter that simply states the status of my current loan and terms. That is not what I needed or what my mortgage lender asked for. In the meantime, we sold our house and need to move out in a month. We wo n't be able to make an offer to purchase our next house unless this credit error gets resolved immediately.

Complaint: I have a Discover card account. The bill for this account was allegedly due on XXXX XXXX, 2016. On XXXX XXXX, 2016 between approximately XXXX and XXXX ( MDT ) I received 7 phone calls, one immediately following the other from a Discover representative. I called Discover at approximately XXXX to determine why they had called me multiple times in a row. The representative proceeded to inform me that I had allegedly missed a payment for which I do not recall receiving a bill, and that they were " concerned ''. She then explained to me that Discover has an automated dialing system that initiates these repetitive calls. She then " reassured '' me that the calls would stop if I made a payment over the phone. To my knowledge, this behavior was a blatant violation of the Congressional Act concerning fair practice in debt collection. Additionally, it constitutes harassment under most state criminal codes. Finally, I believe the statement that the continued, automated, repeat phone calls would stop only if I made a payment at that time is grounds for blackmail. Discover Card is a huge, multi-national lending corporation with plenty of regulatory compliance staff at its disposal. Therefore, their behavior was in willful and intentional disregard for the laws established by our federal and state governments. I hope with this information, you can find them accountable for this blatant flouting of the law in order to protect other financial consumers. Obviously, litigation is often not the most effective way to solve problems ; however, if you were to require standing for a cause of action, I was on the phone with them for approximately 30 minutes and my time and skills are worth at least $ XXXX/ hour on the private market. Thank you!
