Closing/Cancelling account

Credit card:

Complaint: My credit card experienced unauthorized charges in XXXX XXXX. Discover did reverse all the charges, however several months after concluding their investigation and that I was not responsible they closed my credit card account. I request respectfully that they reconsider and re-open my credit card. The fraudulent activity in this matter appears to trace to an address in a crime stricken area of XXXX XXXX where I do not live and have never lived, about XXXX miles away from me, and a proper investigation by XXXX has proven that I have nothing to do with that address as well. The credit bureaus removed this fraud XXXX XXXX address from my reports, and placed a seven year fraud alert on my credit profiles which is done only in cases of ACTUAL identity fraud. Finally, a private investigator went to the fraud address in XXXX XXXX where the goods were apparently shipped, and investigator met with owner/landlord of that property verified that I had no connection to that property, that he had never seen me after being shown my driver 's license, and that I had never rented from him or been anywhere near that property to his knowledge. I went through a thorough review of my Discover account already and on XXXX XXXX, XXXX, Discover 's executive office of consumer advocacy already reinstated my full credit line. After all this, Why is it that insult has been added to injury and my credit card closed when I have done nothing wrong?

Complaint: I 've been a customer for 2 years with the company, never had a complaint until today. I just finished talking with the executive office because an inquiry that I did this weekend about a credit card application that I submitted last week. That application was denied, and I call just to know why. I do work in banking as well, and I do care about my credit, because since I 'm not a millionaire I depend on it for anything. I 'm currently working and XXXX both since I need to progress myself. Well, the main reason I 'm writing to you today is because I think there is something that Discover should consider in changing or adjusting or do something. When I was doing my application on the second tab ( please see attachment ) It says clearly that if you work and study, 'you select student '. That was basically the key to the point in this complaint. As per your company ' policies students are only allowed to have XXXX account, and nonstudents XXXX, but going back when you apply and you 're doing both you must choose 'Student '. Basically, what I did was a waste of my time and a hole on my credit bureau, because the policies of Discover discriminate students. And plus that, I 'm not only a XXXX, I 'm doing both, which should be considered all the way around. I have called several times to the executive office, they just do not care, and there is no way to go futher and let the real executives the dedication of this problem. Well, my humble advice, a bank which a lot of his customer base are students, should not treat students so lightly, so XXXX, explain better in the application tab ( if doing both, instead of choosing 'student ', chose 'working ' ).

Complaint: Over the XX/XX/XXXX/XX/XX/XXXX I fell behind in paying my bills. When the credit card companies called I spoke to them and told them that when I started working again and was able to make a payment I would notify them. There is one company that has called almost every day since XX/XX/XXXX, Discover Card. They call on Holidays and Sundays, several times a day. I told them that I run a XXXX and that is a XXXX. I live in one of the poorest counties in Maine, it is now XX/XX/XXXX but business is still extremely slow. I do n't have money for them. On XXXX XXXX I started receiving general assistance from the town. On XXXX XXXX they plan to seek legal action against me. They call and say you must call us in the next 48hrs or else. If I had the money I owed them I would pay them. I was XXXX for thirteen years and never took anyone to court, I was never taken to court either. Thirty years without missing a bill. My house has been on the market for the last six years. XXXX realtors in six years still the house has n't sold. I spend each day going to the library searching the various job boards for several hours. When a person that has been self employed all his life tries to find a job its very difficult to find someone who wants to hire you. I have called other government agencies looking for assistance in finding work as well, as of this file date nothing.

Complaint: In XXXX XXXX a California merchant, a XXXX, auto-renewed a subscription I purchased in XXXX without providing a working mechanism by which I could opt out of the auto-renewal. The only mechanism on their online site required me to cancel the current ( XXXX ) subscription before its full term, forfeiting any unused portion. Since I paid for a full subscription, I refused to accept this requirement. Instead, I purposely withheld my Discover Card 's ( DC ) expiration date from the merchant, expecting a credit card transaction lacking a valid expiration date would be rejected by DC. Instead, DC approved the charge without up-to-date account information. I disputed the charge via a written claim sent under the Fair Credit Billing Act -- XXXX pages long, with online screen images of the merchant 's site, the merchant 's posted policies, excerpts from the XXXX Auto-Renew Law and Restore Online Shoppers ' Confidence Act of XXXX ( ROSCA. ) I documented the merchant 's missing opt-out mechanism, invalid initial purchase terms ( customers wanting to opt-out of auto-renew could never receive a subscription matching the term they paid for ), and my refusal to take delivery of the auto-renewal ( I cancelled it immediately ). I also showed that the renewal price was twice the original subscription rate, even though the merchant posted terms saying renewal pricing could change ). DC completely ignored everything I submitted to them. They said my claim was " incomplete and/or ambiguous ''. And they ruled in favor of the merchant, overlooking its fraudulent practices -- delivering shorter subscriptions than advertised DC, meaning that customers could not possibly give the " express informed consent '' required by ROSCA. And the merchant 's violation of California law by failing to provide " clear and conspicuous '' and " working '' opt-out mechanisms. DC did no independent investigation of this matter as their corporate Internet prohibited access to the merchant 's website. And they were completely disinterested in ROSCA and the California Auto-Renew Law. Their only investigative act was reading the merchant 's statement and finding it completely valid.

Complaint: Discover is reporting information on my credit file that is not only inaccurate but illegal. First of all they are reporting information different information between XXXX and XXXX. Secondly, I 've requested records for the history they are reporting and sent the request via certified mail, and they 've yet to reply. Thirdly, I 've disputed the information on 3 different occasions and they continue to verify and/or even add more illegal inaccurate information to the reporting rather than fixing the issue. I have complained to the CFPB on XXXX and XXXX for allowing the information to be reported and XXXX has stated that their job is to report whatever the furnisher tells them to report whether the information is inaccurate or not they ca n't change it unless Discover changes it. This has been ongoing now for years and has only come to my attention the last few months. This means that this information has cost me tons of money in interest on other accounts that have been opened since this reporting and is currently costing me credit denial. On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I sent a request to Discover via certified mail requesting billing statements because they were n't fixing the fixing the issue. I 've yet to hear from them to this day. They have been given ample opportunity to fix their reporting and instead have chosen to update with even more inaccurate information and plug more late payments in when they are not supposed to. You will see in the information provided as evidence the updating they 've done over the course of me disputing the information and how they 've changed and added information that is completely inaccurate. To me it looks as though they are doing this on purpose with intent to harm my scores and they 've cost me enough money and enough of my time. Discover charged the account off XX/XX/2011 and they continue to report the account as a charge off until XXXX XXXX where they then decide to plug in 180 day late payments for the next several months then report the account as a charge off again in XXXX XXXX with XXXX but with XXXX they report the account late in XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX the report the account as a charge off for a month, then go back to reporting the account as 180 days late then go back to reporting the account as a charge. Discover actually updated that information to XXXX when I disputed the account because originally they were only reporting the charge off in XX/XX/XXXX, then the 180 day late payments beginning XX/XX/XXXX and ending in XXXX XXXX then charged off again. BUT the most recent dispute, the updated the account to reflect 180 days late a second time after the they had already charged it off on two other occasions. All of this is Ludacris.

Dealing with my lender or servicer

Student loan: Non-federal student loan

Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: Good Afternoon, I sent Discover Student Loans a message inquiring about how much interest I was being charged per month. I explained to them, I did the daily simple interest method. For my loans, right now using that method, I 'm being charged around {$1.00} per day which is fine and that amounts to around {$35.00} per month in interest. I do n't understand how I was charged {$70.00} in interest for XX/XX/XXXX. I made two payments, one on XXXX/XXXX/2016 for {$640.00} and another on XXXX/XXXX/2016 for {$540.00}. The amount of interest that would have accrued between those dates would have been around {$24.00}, not {$70.00}. For the months prior to that, I 've averaged around {$35.00} per month. The second issue, I pay interest monthly through my statement, and thats the {$35.00} or {$70.00} as seen above, now my overall balance is also increasing daily by around $ XXXX- {$2.00}. So not only am I paying interest monthly on my statements, but I 'm also paying interest through having my balance grow. It seems to me, I 'm being double dinged on interest. Can you please research this or look into this for me? If interest was incorrectly calculated, can they apply that to my principal balance. For this loan, I originally took out {$26000.00} and my balance today is {$14000.00}. So far, I 've paid a total of {$21000.00} on this loan. ( {$15000.00} has gone towards principal and {$6600.00} has gone towards interest. ) So, if we were to minus the XXXX ( that has gone to principal ) out of the original balance not including interest, my balance today would be {$11000.00}. And that does n't include the {$6600.00} that was already paid to interest. Can CFPB or Discover please help? Thank you.
