Complaint: I canceled my Discover Credit Card in XX/XX/XXXX of this year, due to numerous unauthorized charges ( mostly by XXXX 's ) and XXXX disputes that were found " in favor of the vendor '' in excess of hundreds of dollars, although documentation was not properly collected nor investigated properly. I have now received a statement from Discover with a charge dates XXXX ( 2 months after I canceled my card ) for a XXXX warranty in which during a call on XX/XX/XXXX, Discover informs me " we have documentation that supports the vendors ( XXXX ) charge. '' I however, have been directly communicating with the XXXX Offices of XXXX, and they have assured me that my warranty in the amount of {$85.00} was not charged. When I called to complain about this fraudulent charge to Discover, they REFUSED to give me anyone 's name, and would only give me a " p.o.box address to lodge a complaint. '' They also threatened ( bullied XXXX me that " if you do n't pay, you will be charged late fees. '' As an independent XXXX, I have spent a PLETHORA of hours upon hours from XX/XX/2016 to Present, fighting with Discover, which has equaled additional financial loss. Please tell me how a credit company in which I separated services with over 2 months ago is holding me in financially responsible and XXXX for unauthorized and fraudulent charges to a credit card THAT NO LONGER EXISTS?

Complaint: there were several unauthorized charges totaling over {$3000.00}. they were all cash advances taken from my card. i submitted a claim and filled out and sent back a form stating that i did not make these charges. 2 weeks later i get a letter stating that they found these charges to be correct and put them back on my card. I have NEVER taken a cash advance on XXXX crdit card ( i do n't even know how to do this ) they said i would have had to use a pin number, I 've never had one! as far as i know you would have to go into a bank and show an ID to get a cash advance. Obviously It was not me. At the same time i had fraudulent charges on XXXX of my other cards however the card companies did their investigations and removed the charges. Discover advertises how you are not responsible for fraud. Discover is making me responsible.

Complaint: My wife and I share a Discover Credit Card account. We were both at a XXXX, when I began to receive alerts of purchases being made on our Discover Card at stores near our zip code. Many of the stores were merchants and store locations we have never visited. I used my Discover app to " Freeze '' my card and immediately called Discover to report the fraudulent activity. The representative explained they would investigate the purchases, but assured us the activity was now blocked. The Discover App Alerts were instrumental in limited the loss ( well over {$1000.00} in a matter of hours ), but the damage to the merchants and Discover was done. These events occurred a couple of months ago. Just yesterday, I received a letter from Discover stating that the matter was under a probe and if they deemed that we were indeed responsible for the activity, the chargebacks would be reversed and we would be held responsible. Although I understand this is probably " canned '' language, and I have not suffered a personal loss at this point, I 'm taking the time to report a suggestion to the credit card industry as a whole. With the amount of information floating frivolously XXXX, the potential for theft is overwhelmingly on the rise and more difficult to guard against. Our economy is being bled out my amateur and advanced, domestic and foreign hacks. I 'm sure cost/benefit analysis favor ease of use by consumers over risk-mitigation controls, but the truth is, time/speed/rapid response analytics provide the choke point.
My wife and I also have a XXXX, and the analytic capabilities displayed by this financial institution ( FI ) can be inconvenient, but the risk of loss to both consumer and FI is greatly limited when real-time analytics detect aberrations in activity and block the use of the card. Thieves might get away with the credit, but they most likely will not invest the time to mimic spending patterns used by the actual consumer. More effort may be invested in creating apps with consumer approved patterns of use. A link between a communication device and a card could allow new merchant locations to be added to a list of approved merchants. An app which allows the consumer to select and deselect merchant/retail locations in real-time would be much more cost-effective and provide more protection to the XXXX economy than chasing the culprits after the fact. Stats show people in the XXXX are more concerned with Identity ( credit card ) theft than they are with XXXX, most likely because most of us have been personally affected by this type of crime than the inverse. In fact, this subtle attack on the XXXX economy is like a silent XXXX in its own right ... a destructive XXXX.
XXXX a high-caliber focus-group/analytic team, and I believe you will find a rise in consumers who are more willing to be inconvenienced with contributing seconds of real-time intelligent data to consumer protection apps. I believe FI which prioritize protection over convenience will see a migration TO and XXXX away from the majority of consumers. I know I must call my XXXX ahead of time if I will be conducting business in an abnormal pattern ( travel or amounts, etc ) before I use the card, but I would happily notify them than having a looming, daunting feeling that even though my wife and I were obviously victims of a crime, we ca n't help but feel accused by the letter we received from Discover. XXXX of the charges is now being charged to us at a store location we have never visited before!!!! ( We are out {$260.00} so far and with potential for more personal loss ). Ughh! We love our Discover card, but I 'd prefer protective analytics more like the XXXX analytics.
Thanks, XXXX

Complaint: I closed out my Discover credit card account months ago due to a dispute over Discover billing and late charge practices. On XXXX XXXX, 2016, an unauthorized payment of {$32.00} was made to the XXXX company by Discover without my knowledge.

When I signed up for the card, it was because Discover advertised it would never pay a disputed bill. Now Discover is demanding payment for a charge made against a canceled and destroyed credit card.

Complaint: Discover Bank has restricted access to funds on in my account through my debit card. I am unable now to use my debit card for any credit transaction. All credit transaction are being run as " high risk ''. Discover has given very vague explanations as to what they qualify as high risk and why companies are flagged. They have enacted a security system on their card that they state vendors are behing on that requires additional information to be pulled from the card including the pin number. Yet they can not explain what vendors follow these " rules '' I have tried multiple vendors and it was rejected at all of them including XXXX which has some of the highest encryption levels. They are stating that as long as you type in the CVC code number on the back of the card it will work and this is incorrect. Each merchant has requested the CVC code and each time the card is blocked. The only solution they can offer is to call them every time I want to use my card to get a 15 minute window. They reject companies that have my full account number and do ACH transactions but those same companies as flagged as high risk when used with my debit card as a credit card

Complaint: Discover credit pulled a bait and switch on me as a consumer. I received a balance transfer offer to get 0 % Apr to pay down my balance in full ; giving me until XXXX 2017. They are continuing to charge exorbitant fees, making it difficult for me to pay off the balance. When I wrote to them stating how difficult they have made things for me, they stated, " Paying down the complete statement each month avoids the charges ''.
First off, I understand paying down the statement avoids charges. XXXX does not know me. If he did he would understand that the company I used to work for ( XXXX XXXX ) never paid me for the XXXX I turned in -- we 're talking about three years of XXXX. I have filed a complaint with the Dept of Labor about the company, and it has gone nowhere because the USA seems to allow criminals to go free. I am a XXXX XXXX who should have earned a nice living on the project that I was hired to do. Since I have n't been paid, the only source of my pay comes from a small XXXX check. This makes it exceedingly difficult to pay down my debts ... which I want to do!!!!
I wrote to Discover Credit : " You deliberately did not answer my question. Your company has violated the agreement of allowing a 0 % Apr until XXXX for me, a XXXX American, to catch up my bills. Your answer was emotionally disconnected, and bourgeoisie, but I suppose that 's how you wish your company to be viewed. No. I do not agree with stealing. I will not allow you to steal from me. I am filing a complaint about your company with the FTC ( CFPB ), and will not be paying on this bill or having anything more to do with your shady, lying, thieving, company!
This complaint is being filed because Discover Credit broke the terms of the agreement, and have charged such exorbitant charges on my account, bringing the balance to a high amount. I received the 0 % Apr offer thinking this was a XXXX that could get my debt to credit ratio down. They do this to low income people to steal their hard earned money and make them think they can FINALLY pay off their debts. I am trying very hard to get out of the debt hole that credit fees, and shady, dishonest people/companies have deliberately made for me. It is a financial hardship to go through this. It IS a bait and switch tactic that Discover Credit pulled and it needs to be reported to the CFPB agency. I told Discover that they are thieves and liars and cause unneeded stress in my life with their shenanigans. I will not be paying any more statements until they revert to the 0 % Apr agreement that was sent to me. They also had no business keeping an unlawful XXXX charge ( I sent back the item over a month ago -- I DO N'T have it!!! ). Their company is designed to run people into debt and needs to be audited for fraud.

Complaint: I have repeatedly asked for an original contract ( front and back copies ) from DISCOVER BANK to which this day I have NOT received and this request was sent on XX/XX/2016. I directed my request to the Chief Financial Officer XXXX prior to a now existing lawsuit claim against me by XXXX. I asked for an original contract because I suspected fraud on the account in which DISCOVER BANK may have materially altered said contract for a profit but without my consent ( Securitization ). Instead of responding, I 'm thinking the alleged account was assigned to XXXX which would require another contract. I have a right through the privacy act to know how my information is being used.

Complaint: I want to file a complaint against Discover card. My account with them was paid in full when they closed my account right after I paid the balance to XXXX in XXXX. Discover is now reporting on my credit that, the debt was discharged as part of a bankruptcy.
I have taken the steps to dispute information being reported by Discover Card on my credit report with XXXX and the case has been resolved unfavorable to me, despite having shown proof of its inaccuracy.
I filed a chapter XXXX Bankruptcy Date Filed : XXXX XXXX, XXXX, and no credit card debt was included in the bankruptcy. Only a charge off auto loan and 2nd mortgage debt. I have attached documents from the bankruptcy trustee showing the items included in the repayment plan. Discover XXXX credit card for XXXX was paid in full by me before I ever filed bankruptcy. Now they are reporting on my credit report that the debt was included in the bankruptcy which has/continues to adversely affect me. It should be reporting as a paid closed account with a XXXX balance as of XXXX, showing I had a high balance of XXXX and paid it down to XXXX. not that unsecured credit card debt was included as a part of a bankruptcy. This is not fair credit reporting. Please require Discover to provide proof of my last payment to them and last statement. Which will show I paid this in full prior to my ever filing bankruptcy and XXXX money was paid to them or included in the bankruptcy plan.
I have also attached they last statement i have showing my balance at XXXX before they closed they account, prior to the bankruptcy.

Complaint: I applied for a second loan on my home with Discover Home Loans. During the process I was told there was a pending lawsuit against my property which Discover identified during a title search. After receiving the information, I conducted a county records search, and a title search with XXXX XXXX but my title showed it was clear of any pending liens. Discover Home Loans denied my loan based on the pending lawsuit " XXXX '' on my property, but there is no XXXX. I asked for the information used to deny my loan but was told I was n't entitled to it, although I believe I am entitled to information used to deny my loan. Discover Home Loans has refused any further communication with me. It should be noted that the pending lawsuit case number given to me by Discover Home Loan is a civil suit filed by a citizen against me and several other law enforcement managers with no tie to the incident being brought to court. County Council believes the lawsuit to be frivolous and vexatious as the managers listed in the suit where only identified due to being listed on a webpage. While the lawsuit is public record which is most likely how Discover Home Loans identified it, it is not attached to my property as a lis pendens. I have attached my correspondence with Discover Home Loan for reference, as well as the law suit filing. My goal for this complaint is to receive the documentation used to deny my home loan.
