Complaint: I have been paying off my student loans with Discover on and off for 5 years now since I left school. I 've had to deal with some medical issues which left me with big bills and with some unemployment. I also went back to graduate school for year, but ended up leaving. I 've tried to pay as much as I can every month. They have been charging me more than 10 % interest, even at times when the federal interest rate was 0 %. I 've looked at the chart they have on their website, and most months most of my payment is going to just the interest. When I miss a payment because of financial difficulty, it all gets messed up again and then somehow I end up paying all of my money towards interest for the next few months, until another financial emergency comes up and I miss another payment, and then they do it all over again. I recently realized that, even after five years, the balance left on my loans is still the same or higher than when I first borrowed it. I feel like a slave to this loan company ; like I will be making large monthly payments of {$300.00} or more to them for the rest of my life, because they have me trapped. It does n't feel right.

Complaint: Upon checking my Credit reports, it was found that a Discover card was opened in my name. I have filed an identity theft report with the FTC as well contacted the attorney generals office in Louisiana and the XXXX Police Department. I notified Discover of this fraudulent account and they still insist that this account is mine. At the time of account opening, I resided in a foreign country and at no point did open this account. Discover refuses to accept the prima facie facts of this fraud.

Complaint: Discover Credit Card has not reimbursed me for a product I did not receive. I paid a deposit of {$1500.00}. ( Exhibit 1 ) for professional electrical contractor services to install and provide electric service to garage and update electric panel in home. ( Exhibit 1a ) I paid in good faith for product delivery and buyer protection through Discover ; Both I have not received. The job is both incorrect ( Exhibit 2,2a,2b ) and incomplete ( Exhibit 2c,2d ). The hole seen in Exhibit 2 and 2a is the first hole made by workers to put electrical conduits inside the building along the eaves per our agreement ; With no notice, this was abandoned and conduits placed outside building and down the center of building. ( Exhibit 2b ). When I saw this, I called the Contractor who was not on site, told him what had been done, He said " No it was to be inside along the eaves '' ; He said he would correct it. ( See Exhibit 4 ) I have given the electrician every opportunity ( Exhibit 4, 4b, 4b1 ) to correct and complete the job. He has not done so. Exhibit 2c and 2d evidence no meter and no wires connected to provide the service contracted for. The materials and services rendered are of no value to me. I have no electric service from this work and estimates ( 4a1,4a2 ) to complete work reflect no credit for materials left by XXXX XXXX and in fact reflect additional costs because of same.
Discover summary ( Exhibit 3 ) used to deny my dispute is totally incorrect. See Exhibit 4 for my dispute of Discover summary. Despite my several requests with documentation ( Exhibit 2a,2b,2c,2d 4a ) and without documentation to Discover to correct and copy corrections of summary to me and credit my account the {$1500.00}. I paid or to provide adequate documentation to support their summary, they have not done so.
Communications with Discover were fraught with difficulties : On line communication is offered yet frequently time out requiring rewriting. Once a point had been made requiring Discover response, a message is sent stating " this form of communication is no longer accepted and another form need be used ; Complicated instructions follow. My last effort to access my dispute on X/XX/17 yielded this message : " We currently show no active or closed disputes ''. Fortunately, I copied most of the very many communiques on their site. If you require same, please advise. Discover Case Number : XXXX.

Complaint: I have had a Discover card for 25 years and have always paid my account in full and on time. In XXXX XXXX 2017 I became the court-appointed conservator for my father who is currently XXXX years old and has no income other than Social Security. Two years ago Discover sent him an offer for an unsecured personal loan for {$35000.00} which he took. He sent the money to XXXX XXXX because he was involved in a gold scam. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a notice from Discover ( see attached ) suspending my charging privileges because of an unpaid personal loan. I NEVER took out, signed for or received money from Discover Personal Loans. Discover, according to XXXX, has decreased my credit score from XXXX to XXXX ( see attached ). I feel Discover was negligent in offering an XXXX-year-old an unsecured loan.

Complaint: I wanted to dispute a charge on my Discover card that is from a company who took my money and did not provide any service at all.They started taking my money in XX/XX/XXXX. The merchant name is XXXX and it was a monthly service fee of XXXX thru XX/XX/XXXX.I know it is old but I feel Discover should still be able to go after this merchant, as they are still in business.They also called me and said they were no longer using Discover and I needed to use a different card.I wonder why. To many chargebacks? I would expect Discover to look into this and retrieve my funds.

Complaint: On XXXX/XXXX/XXXX I opened Discover Savings account number XXXX. At the time there was an offer for a {$200.00} bonus if the account was funded with {$20000.00}. The terms of the offer read : " Apply for your first Discover Online Savings Account by XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. Enter offer code XXXX when applying. Deposit a total of at least {$15000.00} into your account by XXXX/XXXX/XXXX to earn a {$150.00} Bonus or deposit a total of at least {$20000.00} into your account by XXXX/XXXX/XXXX to earn a {$200.00} Bonus. '' I was able to successfully open the account online using the offer code XXXX on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX.
As of XXXX/XXXX/XXXX I still have not received the {$200.00} bonus despite meeting the requirements of the promotion - {$20000.00} was deposited into the account on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. I have called Discover several times asking about the status of the bonus and have been given multiple excuses as to why it has not been credited. These excuses include : XXXX The bonus will post I just need to wait until the end of XXXX.
* When I called after the end of XXXX I was told the bonus " might '' post by the end of XXXX.
* I was n't specifically targeted by the marketing department so I wo n't be getting the bonus -the offer did not mention anything about being targeted and it was available on Discover 's own website.
* I did n't use the offer code on the online application - I did enter the code as it was the only reason I opened the account in the first place.
I expect Discover to credit the {$200.00} bonus as I have met all of the requirements of their promotion.

Complaint: I the consumer declare that in XXXX XXXX that I pulled my credit report from the three major credit reporting bureaus and noticed XXXX and Discover accounts and hard inquiries ( XXXX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX & XXXX XXXX XXXX ) I did not open or recognize and did not authorize and origination dates that are clearly erroneous. I did not authorize anyone to use my name or personal information to obtain money, credit, loans, goods or services- or for any other purpose. Neither did I receive any money, goods, services, or other benefits. I have cooperated with law enforcement by providing all information I had regarding these fraudulent activities as my personal information was stolen. Someone has been using my personal information without my knowledge or permission since XXXX. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission since Pursuant to the 1974 Privacy Act all 3 credit bureaus violated all privacy rights by sharing my information with businesses without my permission.
